The mountain view units are on the cooler side of the bldgs. so the lanai is very useful as the other side gets hot and there are a lot of bldgs. that get in the way of view and ventilation.

The east end of World Famous Waikiki beach is a short stroll from the resort and features a breakwater that creates a protected area of calm water ,However, the surf spots are not far away too.
