Loved the condo! Will Definity be back again! Had the adult kids, Wife and I back together in Kona, this condo had literally everything! Full pantry, laundry in room, great size bathroom, patio had tons of chairs and beach chairs and cooler. Loved this place and the owner was amazing

Water stands in the shower, toilet constantly runs, slider is hard to operate, screen runs off track. Finish on the refrigerator is rusty. Only one of three bedroom windows opens. No air-conditioning in the bedroom.

Well equipped and very clean. Great view of the ocean. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking. Very comfortable.

We arrived to a dark hall and unable to see the key pad, had to get a flashlight to get in and to use several appliances. Rooms dark missing extension cords, unable to secure patio door, screen door fell out of track and very difficult to operate. bedding required washing prior to use, floors and closet floors filthy. trash under bed. lamp switches would not work only two spoons in kitchen. the view is the only positive. bedroom is next to busy noisey road. Inadequate cleaning supplies, fixtures falling off walls It is a condo from the past with everything worn and barley working. The complex ihowver is very nice and there are many nice units that are kept up by owners. The units owners are in florida and haven't been to the property in 20 some years per their maintenance person and they avoid any expenses to update the unit unless needed (washer/dryer) flooded the unit with the prior guest there, so it was replaced. Beware of this lower priced unit..there is a reason.

I love staying at Kona Reef. The property is exceptionally clean. I enjoy how close it is to town. The views from the condo are exceptional. Thoroughly enjoy seeing sunsets from the property and hearing the conch shells blow as the sun goes down into the ocean. I cannot say enough about this property. I highly recommend. I and Property Management was always available and easy to reach.

Bedroom was so dusty we had to sleep in pull out bed in living room. If you have sinus problems or any sensitivity to a lot of dust then don’t stay here the dust was terrible.

This was a nice place to stay. It was very clean and had beach toys for guest use. I did need to contact the owner about wifi not working. He was very quick to respond and Jim helped immediately to get us the correct account. I do recommend renting a car if you stay here. There are many beaches you will want to visit that are not in walking distance. I would stay here again.

Traffic noise was pretty bad. The maintenance guy had to show up twice. Once to try to fix the cable tv, which he couldn't and the other to fix the router and to reset garbage disposal which wasn't working. Otherwise the unit was functional if not fancy.. The common areas were well maintained including the pool.. The location is hard to beat. I would stay at the property again but not that unit. .

Walking distance to town.
Clean facilities throughout. The pool area had plenty of seating and was relaxing.

The place was smelly, it had strong musty smell, it was very hard to sleep at night because the AC is in the living room and the bedroom had one dirty fan. We were very concerned about mold issues. Curtains were ripped, balcony screen door was dislodged. AC & fan filters were filthy. Kitchen and bathroom were not properly cleaned. Mattress is dated and very uncomfortable. Basic stuff were missing like beach towels and wine opener! The pictures of the L shaped sofa at VRBO site does not match the actual smaller sofa in the condo! We contacted the owner, he sent the maintenance guy and cleaner two days later, they tried their best but it really requires deep cleaning and better maintenance. We feel that we wasted few days of our trip dealing with all of that and looking for another place, but everything was booked. When we had no choice but to stay at this place I asked the housekeeper to come clean the place but she never responded. We’re expecting a partial refund but we haven’t received anything yet.
VRBO offered us two days at a hotel, even though our reservation is five nights, but we couldn’t find anything that has a fridge & kitchen. I emailed VRBO twice inquiring about their promise for a partial refund as the second option and called them but no response yet!!!

The host responded when I let them know the water heater was leaking. Appliances such as coffee maker are old and stained. The place is dirty and needs a deep clean . I had to clean the bathroom before using as there was a ring around the tub with lots of grime all along the tub. Kinda gross.
Apartment has a good view and the complex has a decent pool and jacuzzi. Highlight of the property. The complex is full of retirees who stalk anyone at the pool. Not really within walking distance from much of anything. I liked that the unit had a washer and drier. I was disappointed to see the sofa in picture is not what was in the unit. I did not want the golden girls sofa that was there. Bedroom is dark and doesn't have a/c. A/c is on a knob timer and very loud. It's a window unit and not centralized.

The place is in a great location but the unit needs some work the sliding door did not lock, it could use a safe with sliding door not locking. They want you to do all the laundry bed sheets , towels before you leave

I thought it was decorated cute, it was very comfy, felt spacious and the view- every day i could see the Beautiful ocean from big glass sliding doors, onto a balcony, with nice lounge chairs. I really appreciate the extras of the stay - the camping chairs and snorkeling gear. We loved our time here and were very happy with our choice, we'd stay here again, hopefully soon. It was a simple walk to town from the condo, and there were many restaurants to choose from, and the ABC store just 5 minutes walk, we were without a car for almost a week but with everything so close it worked out fine. It's a pretty walk to town, all ocean views. And the trolley went all around Kona, that is a nice FREE amenity.

The only thing with this listing that was accurate is the view. That is why you come to the Islands though, right?? All of the pics online are old. Furniture is all different. Beds uncomfortable. The refrigerator is stainless but streaked with rust. Microwave was “out of order”. The owner was quick to act and had one to use the next day. Thanks! Decent for the location and price.

Perfect location and close to everything you could need and want. We didn't really need to drive anywhere. Lots of shopping and food within a few min walk from the house. The house was really clean except the floors. Our feet were very dirty so we ended up putting our sandals back on. Kitchen was fully stocked and plenty of room in the fridge. It was a great place to stay. Would recommend.

The condo was in a great location and had a wonderful view of the ocean from balcony. It was well stocked in the kitchen and had extra games and beach supplies. Nice that linens and towels and laundry detergent and dish detergent and paper products were provided. It was the dirtiest place we have ever stayed. If I could upload pictures you would see dust accumulated from counter tops to lampshades to vent in bathroom and more. Window in kitchen was so dirty you could not see out them.We also worried about electricity. The lights above the kitchen sink had one that never went out. The lightbulb in the washer dryer area was broke in socket. Could not see dials on washer and dryer. The bedroom had extension cords to the lamps. One day used hairdryer that was provided and blew a fuse.

Great location but unit needs a refurbishment. Knobs to turn on lamps were broken off - had to plug in to wall to turn on and unplug to turn off. Numerous light switches did nothing. No outside light made it very difficult to see door of unit to enter. Sliding glass door and screen door barely worked. Bedroom was comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Balcony overlooking pool and ocean was great. We'd stay here again if you fixed things up a bit. Pretty expensive to be this run down. thanks.

Stayed at Kona reef previously and it’s always excellent. This unit is closer to the street and a bit noisier in the early a.m. but still a lovely location and well cared for grounds. Bonus this time: several residents blow conch shells at sunset.

Property starting to look in need of some TLC. No lights at the entrance either nside or outside. Bed mattress very bad and weak. Shower handle is about to come off and can't adjust temperature well. Towel bar needs help since it came off one time when hanging a towel on it. TV remotes/tv doesn't workk well. Had to call James who fixed it while we were gone and as soon as we tried to use it it quit.Living room lamp switches knobs off. Hard to work. Will not stay there again on the basis of our visit.

We have stayed in many different Kona Reef units, and we love the location. However, as other reviews have stated, this unit could use a deep clean and is a little rough around the edges. It has a great view of the water, and you can easily walk to many shops and restaurants in Kona. With some deep cleaning and a little maintenance this would be a great place to stay, but as it is now we wouldn't book it again.

Overall it was in a great spot. We had a lovely view of the ocean and even saw a pod of dolphins one morning! Close enough to walk to dinner every night and we exercised on Ali"i drive every morning! The information provided to check in was easy and worked. well. My only real complaint is the bed was very uncomfortable. Otherwise it was great!

The unit had been cleaned. Did not meet my expectations as a premier listing compared to other premier properties where I've stayed via VRBO. I search for premiere properties only. I had to go out and buy a blanket. Says it sleeps 4. There were two of us. There was one blanket in the whole place. I was worried I would break furniture or injure myself because I had to move a heavy, glass table to pull out the sofa bed. Dangerously SLICK tub + NO BATHMAT. Temp choices were freezing cold or burning hot. Rusted NON-WORKING lock on sliding door. Electric problems w/ lights flashing then not working at all. Other uncomfortable things I experienced: cheap sheets-pillows-pillowcases, no mattress pad on old king mattress. Skimpy amenities. A note on the fridge stated I needed to do the unit's laundry before I left. The dryer can only handle 2 beach towels and it needs to be run twice. Someone with no identification knocked at the door to ask if I wanted exterminators to come in around 8 am. I was very disappointed with this unit. The view was nice. This is the first negative review I've left and I use VRBO often.
