My wife and I have stayed at the Kona Reef several times and this unit was exactly as represented- clean and close to the beach. It was exactly described online. Knutson and Associates were there to answer any questions and were very helpful. I would definitely recommend it to others as long as they don’t book our time for next year!

We loved this place! By FAR, the best equipped vacation rental we have ever stayed in. They have thought of everything! Great location, AMAZING view... everything we needed. The property managers are wonderful... very responsive to our every need. I would highly recommend this place. Also, we could see a catamaran from the lanai each day and found out it was the Kona Style snorkel cruise heading for Captain Cook. We booked it! What a great experience...small boat, really fun, knowledgeable crew. Highly recommend them also!

We love the location of the Kona Reef. The condo exceeded our expectations. The owners have really paid attention to detail. They have also provided a brand new stacked washer dryer in the unit which works amazing. The property mgmt company, Knutson & Associates, answered all of our questions immediately which was great. I wanted to cook something but noticed there was no large frying pan. I texted them to let them know. When we got home there was a brand new box of cookware at the door. My husband and I were so impressed. The location and the view are unbeatable you can walk to town if you want but it’s all about the VIEW!!!!!! Sitting on the Lanai every night with a cocktail enjoying sunset it just can’t get any more beautiful and relaxing. The living room furniture is very comfortable. We appreciated the big TV in the living room and in the bedroom and the bed was very comfy. We really couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was really perfect!!!! We can’t wait to return to Kona and we will definitely go through Knutson & Associates and stay in unit D 17.

We had a wonderful stay at Kona Reef D17 in August 2023! The highlight of this well-accommodated, clean condo is the lanai at the ocean's edge. We changed our busy itinerary to just sit and enjoy. We had questions during our stay and Knutson was very responsive. The condo is just a block's walk from restaurants and shopping of Kona. We didn't use the pool, but it looked lovely and had the ocean view as well. We will rebook this condo when we return to the Big Island!

Condo had everything we needed - kitchen was well stocked, 2 beach chairs, and a small cooler and umbrella for the beach. It was just a short walk into downtown Kona for shopping and restaurants. We also enjoyed the beautiful sunsets on the lanai!

We loved sitting on the lanai each morning and watching the surfers! The location is fantastic — walking distance to a small sandy beach park (where the boogie board was invented) and walking distance to many great restaurants (favorites: Lava Java, Quinn’s, Huggo’s). The communication about payment was good and the coded key-pad access made checkin contactless and simple.

The view from this condo's lanai is spectacular, assuming you like palm trees and the Pacific Ocean. The kitchen is quite functional and well stocked. The bed is very comfortable. We ran the bedroom AC at night, which worked well; we didn't try to cool the entire unit - much nicer to listen to the waves. The only downside is that all of the pictures were removed by the former owner (except one, and I understand why they left that one behind.) There are nails and screws sticking out of the walls where the pictures used to be. It gave the impression of walking into a dorm room, though one with a great view!

What can we say other than this was one of our best getaways. From the very beginning our hosts were excellent to work with. The unit is in great shape and the view spectacular. Our hosts reached out to us when we were there and helped with ideas for things to do and sights to see. We were exceptionally lucky in that the Volcano erupted and we were able to do a fly over.
The unit itself is beautifully finished and in great shape. Everything we needed to cook or bbq was there. The view from the lanai was amazing and we enjoyed appys and drinks every evening watching the sun go down.
The grounds and pool area are well maintained. The bbq area was a great place to cook and meet other guests not to mention well equipped with 4 large bbq’s.
All and all it was definitely one of our better getaways and we will hopefully be returning again next season.
Thank you again to our hosts for the opportunity to rent their amazing property and for all the little perks that made this trip so special.

We couldn't have asked for a better location. Property is located immediately adjacent to the shore with waves crashing on lava, a small sand beach nearby and a short walk to restaurants and shopping. The property is accurately described on VRBO. The photos of the view do not do it justice. The condo is waterfront and you could throw a stone and hit the ocean.
You have an uninterrupted view of the sunsets every night.
When needed the A/C worked flawlessly.
The kitchen is well equipped and the bed is comfortable.
We picked this condo because of its location. It is off Allii drive so there is very little traffic noise. It is also easy walking distance to downtown
.The owners, Brian and Michelle we very attentive and great to deal with.
I would highly recommend their condo to any couple wanting to stay in Kona.

A week here was just what the doctor ordered. The condo is very well stocked with everything you need - and has been upgraded. All of the amenities are nice and modern.
Easy walk to restaurants, the farmer’s market and shops. Free parking, and a beautiful ocean front view and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else on island. It was the perfect stay.

The condo was AMAZING! There was every amenity you can think of (besides your usuals)… beach chairs, umbrella, two size coolers to use plus other items for the water). Very clean not to mention…the view was priceless! We had our coffee on the lanai watching the local surfers plus a couple of cruise ships that docked. Location was great and within walking distance of restaurants and shops! Rita was amazing to work with and SUPER hospitable. If you want quiet and relaxation… thus is your place! Would so recommend this condo. Aloha!!

We had the absolute nicest time and feel this condo was in the perfect spot for what we wanted. We LOVED the lanai and watching the waves. We spent SO much time out there. The condo was clean and was the perfect size for us to relax and enjoy our first trip to Hawaii. We were able to walk to town within minutes to eat or grab a drink. We are sad to have to leave!

This is a beautiful upgraded condo with a lanai that overlooks the breaking surf. You'll be tempted to spend all day on the lanai watching the surf and listening to the ocean, but there is so much to do in and around Kona. You will love staying here.
This condo also includes everything you'll need to go to the beach: beach chairs, beach umbrella, ice chest, boogie boards, snorkel masks and fins, and even binoculars.

This is a very well equipped unit with a fantastic ocean-front location, just a short walk to On the Rocks for Happy Hour. The AC unit is extremely quiet and efficient. As many have noted, the bed may be a bit high but is a King and very comfortable. Most importantly, Michele and Brian were really helpful and accomodatimg when we needed to change our check-in time to match our check out of another unit at the Kona Reef. They also delivered a second pool key within a couple of hours. You will be very happy booking this unit.

My wife and I have rented many beachfront condos, and this is a bit different than most because it is wider and more spacious. It is not overly cluttered either, making it much easier to live in for a week. Great location, within walking distance of many restaurants and activity in downtown Kailua.

This Kona Reef condo could not have been a better choice for our stay! The view while hanging out in the living room and relaxing on the lanai was exactly as shown and we enjoyed every minute of it. Right on the ocean! The condo was clean, well stocked and had a comfortable modern feel. We appreciated the comfortable bed and pillows as well. The location can't be beat as well! It is a short walk down a road to the cute little Kona town (use the lower road closer to the ocean that passes hotels, it takes you right into downtown. We accidentally wandered to the upper much busier Ali'i Drive road the first night not realizing the lower road was accessible:) The location is only a 20 minute drive to Captain Cook the Greenwell coffee Farm tour and a little longer drive down to Kealakekua Bay. Michele was extremely responsive in all things we inquired about and we are very grateful for all of her help. This rental is a winner!

This a an amazing trip for my husband and myself without the kiddos. We were able to relax and enjoy the waves crashing all the while in the air conditioned room. Excellent host and condo. Bedroom and bathroom was a bit small but the view and balcony greatly outweighed the smallest of these rooms. Could have spent hours (and almost did) on the balcony.
Kitchen was very nice and well equipped for our needs.

We stayed in the Kona Reef condo for 3 nights. The condo is right on the water and within walking distance to Kona's restaurants and shopping. The weather during our stay was warmer than usual, which wouldn't have been a problem except the AC in the living room didn't work. There were fans available, but we didn't open the curtain to enjoy the view because the setting sun made it unbearably warm in the living room. The AC in the bedroom worked fine.
Complaints were made to the timeshare managers but they said the owners have known for 2 weeks already and hadn't given authorization to replace the unit (or something like that). I sent a message to the owner but they said they knew nothing about it. Maybe with this review someone will do something to fix it for the comfort of other guests.
The condo and the complex are nice. If the AC in the living room would've worked this would've been a fantastic stay.

Had a problem when we first arrived with the plumbing, but Management went over and above to rectify the issue. They were very helpful and pleasant.
The grounds were immaculate as well as the pool. Would definitely recommend the Kona Reef Resort as a destination vacation. Very close to downtown Kona with lots of restaurants and shops. Beautiful walk day or night.

I researched rental condos A LOT looking for good location, clean accommodation, close to the water with very little noise but I wanted to see and hear ocean and surf. This condo was perfect and met all of those requirements. There were only two of us in the condo but there was an air mattress you could set up in the main living space if you had more than two people. I am a picky traveler but would recommend this newly remodeled condo. The views are fun and entertaining!

Arrived for a 6-day stay. Lauren at the check-in desk was fantastic. Allowed us to store our bags and wine so we could shop.
Returned to enter the unit, and found it exceptionally well appointed. A/C units worked well, and the view could not have been better. Parking was easy, and shaded option available inside community garage.
Minor noise from the unit above, but typical in this sort of bldg. No unusual party noise of any kind. Many occupants were residents and amiable.
Pool and BBQ area was fantastic. 4 high-end grills, and a chance to mingle with locals for advice.
Location was ideal with a 5 minute walk to Kona. But for beach lovers, no friendly access into the ocean at the condo. Though Magic Beach is 2 miles to the south with ample parking.
Back lanai was 20 feet to the shoreline with 170 degree view.
King size bed was comfortable. Bedroom small, but dark and quiet for good sleep. Lots of storage. And wife's favorite - W&D!

The condo is nicely remodeled and was a very comfortable stay for our 10 days in Kona. The location is great, a short walk and you are in town with all the shops and restaurants. The view was the best part! You are in awe of the ocean waves that pound on the shoreline so close to you! We had a few days of high surf and watching the waves from our private lanai was fantastic!
I would highly recommend this condo unit, the entire complex was very quiet and there is a nice pool area but you are far enough away that you don't get the noise. We had a lovely stay.

This unit is by far the best condo we have rented in Kona and this was our 8th time over. The unit was clean, neat and well furnished. Having air conditioning throughout the unit instead of just the living room is a great plus. The bed was very comfortable and the view fantastic. Parking underground ensured a cool car although this unit is located only a short walk to town. Would heartily recommend to anyone looking for a first-rate escape hideaway.
We've already made our next reservation.

Kona Reef is a well maintained complex just a few easy blocks from the heart of Kailua Kona where there are many delicious places to eat and enjoy entertainment. The ocean views are BEAUTIFUL! We saw dolphins and whales everyday! The pool, BBQ area and grounds are clean and inviting. This condo is exactly what you see in the photographs, beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Working with Ken & Dia Peters was an easy renting experience answering any possible questions by providing well organized "Check-In Instructions". This made check-in quick and painless. We would feel confident renting any of the units they offer as their attention to detail, customer service and professional ethics are outstanding!

This is our second stay at Kona Reef because we LOVE the view! We invited some friends who live in Kailua to visit us and their jaws dropped when they walking into this condo (D-17). Not only because you can watch the waves crashing just outside the windows, but because the condo was so lovely. Really enjoyed the beautiful cabinetry, unique lighting, the comfortable king bed, and having air conditioners in both the living room and bedroom (especially since it was an unexpectedly warm week--90 degrees every day!). We loved sitting on the lanai day and night, because there was always something to see: surfers, spinner dolphins, a full moon over the waters, a huge cruise ship lit up like a christmas tree....and of course the sunsets!!! You just can't beat this location--an easy walk to the farmers market for fresh fruit or into "town" for a coffee. Hope to come back SOON!
