The condo is a perfect size for 5-6 people. 3 bedrooms sure.makes a difference. Great views from the Lanai and and easy stroll to the ocean. Plenty of sea turtles and amazing sunsets. The pool and spa are fantastic. Close proximity to just about everything. I felt the condo could use some updating and we did have a few maintenance issues. The maintenance issues were resolved quickly. Overall, it was clean and well equipped. Mahalo!

Bugs! No real ocean view. Also although it was on the ground floor there were 2 small ( 7 steps each)sets of stairs and 2 of us have limited mobility. Since no ac we used the fans a lot. Kitchen was well supplied with essential equipment.

From the moment you walk it…..the view is what you think of when you say Hawaii. The location is beyond compare. We spent most of our time on the lanai enjoying the waves and beauty. We saw turtles, whales spouts, a mega yacht, many kayakers, rowers. And then the sunsets. Breathtaking. The condo is equipped with everything you need. The sheets were wonderful (so much so I ordered some when we got home). We are already checking the calendar for next year. It’s just beautiful!! Thank you so much. 🌴🌺🌅🍹

View of the ocean with several glimpses of turtles and porpoises! We loved the location between Shipwreck beach and Poipu Beach - Poipu was our favorite beach with turtles and monk seals resting on the beach daily! Great snorkeling there with lots of fish! The Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail next to Shipwreck Beach was beautiful with ocean views most of the trail - we hiked out 5 miles on it, and then back. The condo was well stocked with beach items - beach chairs, snorkeling gear, beach umbrellas, body boards, etc. The beds were comfortable and we slept well! The artwork in the condo was beautiful - and we recognized several locations as we traveled the island! The people this island is home to are so very friendly - I felt welcome here. Our party had two ladies in their 80s and four other ladies, mid 50s to mid 60s. We were able to hear the waves crashing in and watched beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We thoroughly enjoyed this property. Pool was great too!!! Bbq area was great too! Pickleball court was great too.

This condo had everything we needed to make our two weeks fun, relaxing and convenient. Close to nice beaches, beautiful pool right outside our door, all the beach gear and room for all six of us to spread out or gather. The view is absolutely beautiful but the condo is in need of some much needed TLC/ updates…very musty smelling upon entering, kitchen & bathrooms have horrible florescent lighting (kitchen light didn’t work at all, making it very dark) flooring is dingy looking, AC wasn’t working in the primary bedroom, rubber seal on shower door was coming off and the lanai was extremely dirty and had broken tiles, I also found it really weird that there were personal pictures of the family on the shelves, just my opinion that if you really want to make the unit feel welcoming, take them down while it’s rented out (we turned them around). I did contact the property management to let her know of a couple of concerns and while we were gone and without notifying us, they entered the unit, I’m not sure how short term rentals work but as long term property owners, we have to give our tenants 24 hour notice before entering...just an FYI

Makahuena was excellent. Everything from location to weather to wonderful sunrises and walks along the coast allowed for a perfect welcome and first experience on Kaua’i. This condo did not disappoint and the property manager was very attentive and patiently answered all my questions. I highly recommend Po’ipu beach for the sea turtles and Monk seals and Puka Dog for lunch and Brennecke’s for dinner. They are literally just down the way and walking distance. We will definitely be back!

Nicely appropriated with views that can't be beat! The crashing surf is 24/7 and the transom windows cannot be closed as I think corrosion has set in, but it didn't bother us a bit and the constant breeze through the house was great. Having no A/C was not a problem for us in the 3rd week of April, but I can imagine in July, might be a bit too humid for us. We enjoyed every minute and the host (Alekona Kauai) was a fabulous property manager! The communication was outstanding. Would definitely book again!

Property was very clean, spacious, and has a great layout. The remodeled bathrooms and kitchen were very nice - sometimes a rental sometimes feels “cheap”, this was very much the opposite. My family loved using the amenities such as boogie boards, snorkeling gear and beach chairs. Great views, my wife and I loved just staring at the ocean from the balcony. Would absolutely go back to this property if we revisited Kauai! Cheers!

Myself and my husband stayed with my friend and her husband. The condo was prefect for 2 couples. Having the full and fully stocked kitchen with the washer/dryer and beach chairs/umbrella worked out great for all of us. You definitely need to have a car here in Kauai. Parking was always easy here as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I would like to give this property a 5 star review but——— was not told of the construction project going on just 20 feet from my front door. The nights were amazing, quiet outside with the ocean waves crashing onto the rocks outside the deck absolutely beautiful. The construction started at 9:00 am every weekday morning. Saws, loud workers as is a construction site. No naps during the day . Pool time was a joke, noise sawdust smells all day. The owner is a gem and wasn’t aware of any of this as the property management didn’t tell her or us about it. We stayed in Kauai for 3 weeks at three properties. We should have been told!!

Communication was excellent and the location was nice along a coastal walk. The winds in the area create a dusty film on the windows and at present (April 2024) the views don’t look like the photo. There is active construction going on (as mentioned in listing but not shown) so you see see buildings going up between you and the ocean.

What an amazing view and location. The perfect place in a great, safe area with plenty of space for families. A short fun drive to various beach areas, eateries and local shops, not to mention the popular Puka Dog. You havevto make your way to Poipu Beach where the Sea Turtles rest.
I recommend this rental, owners made the entire process very easy.

The only complaint I have is the "oceanfront view" is now mostly a construction view. Would not get this property for the view, but otherwise, was a great rental. Thanks for hosting us!

We were two families of 4 and had a great time here! The place comfortably fit all of us, we could cook most of our meals here, and the location was amazing; so close to the beach and great walking. The pool access was great too, and they provided beach/pool towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and a cooler, which we used nearly every day. The property manager was easy to contact and responsive, and made our trip smooth; they left a great welcome basket with extra keys, instructions, and local guides. We would definitely come back here!

We loved the floor layout, good size apartment for all of us to have our own space and also have a good common area to hang out together and play games. We got to see a beautiful sunset every night. We needed a little bit more air movement to stay cool at night.

While there was a slight miscommunication at the beginning of our stay, property management made it right immediately and then also provided complementary late check out. The property came with beach gear, which was in great shape. It also has an incredible view of the ocean out of the main bedroom as well as the lanai. Would stay here again with my family.

I strongly recommend staying here, we were very happy! The unit is updated with beautiful art, it was fun to point out the pictures that we saw while visiting the island. The unit was clean and well stocked in kitchen and bathrooms. There were plenty of towels, extra blankets, several sizes of coolers, ice packs. The beach inclusions made the trip so much more enjoyable - the chairs and boogie boards were very appreciated by us! There was also sand toys, snorkel gear and floaties.
The welcome gift of cookies and wine was a thoughtful touch! Communication was very quick. Very last minute we flew in early to avoid a snowstorm back home, and they were very quick to respond to help us coordinate the extra day. Any questions I had were answered very fast as well!
The only negatives, which didn't impact our trip, but could impact others, was that there is a lot of steps to get to the unit (in addition to the two flights in the unit), and the 2nd shower is in the 2nd bathroom, so our daughters in the loft room had to make sure our son was awake to go in and use the bathroom.

Condo is in a great location. Kitchen and baths have been updated but rest of condo now needs to be refreshed. No blinds in the the dining / living area. Windows and blinds in the bedrooms need replaced. A couple of the windows had missing window panes and windows leaked when it rained.

Our stay at this rental provided amazing views that cannot be beat, plenty of sleeping space for a family of four, and a convenient location to restaurants, shopping, and adventuring. We enjoyed the pool several times, as well as Poipu Beach.
The unit itself needs a bit of TLC (like a new front door as the current one doesn’t fit at all), but overall we had a wonderful stay. Note: There are stairs, so we don’t recommend it to guests with physical limitations.
Our family would definitely return to this rental because the views, crashing waves, whale and turtle watching, and location were simply the best!

Everything was as stated. Place was clean and welcoming. Had all the starter amenities so we didn’t have to run out right away. It was a great location near beaches - you could walk to two within 15 minutes (you can see from the grounds). Restaurants nearby as well. Try a puka dog! Went to Friendly Waves for lunch. Both close by.

We had a lovely stay near Poipu at Makahuena. The condo was spacious, clean, and conveniently located. We could easily walk to both Poipu and Shipwreck Beaches. The kitchen was well stocked. The ocean views and sounds of the crashing waves were great. We even saw whales in the distance on our first morning.

We will really miss having our morning coffee and evening cocktails on the balcony watching sunrises and sunsets. We even saw the occasional whale spouts.
The ocean view condo is in a great location. Walking trail starts next to complex. Wonderful beaches are quick drive. Staying and hanging at the lovely pool and jacuzzi is another great option. Don't forget to smell the plumeria on the way to pool.
The unit is comfortable with a kitchen set up with what you need to make meals in unit. The smart, big screen TV is great when taking break from sun or evening entertainment. The trade winds keep the unit cool most days, but on calm days, the ACs came in handy. Be sure to point the living room one toward main bedroom and put ceiling fans on to distribute the cool air.
The unit has some basics for laundry, dishes etc. and there is a nice cordless vacuum in the second bedroom closet. The unit is a bit dated, but it was very comfortable for us.
We would definitely stay here again.
