Really can't go wrong with Gail's condo. It was clean, well-kept, well stocked, and the BEST location! Just a short walk across the road to a great snorkeling beach and surf spot. Hop on the trolley to great dining and shopping. Just a short drive to the marina for excursions. Well-stocked kitchen to cook the day's catch as well as breakfast every morning. Great setup with each bedroom having its own bathroom. We were a family of five adults and were all comfortable-even with one on the sleeper sofa! Gail was an amazing host with valuable suggestions. Great location across from a good snorkeling beach. Easy to access the south end of the island and quick access into downtown Kona. Well appointed kitchen and everything worked well. Close to a grocery store and lots of local farmers markets.
The king bed was hard and the twin beds were softer but that can be preference.
There are 4 beach chairs, an umbrella and coolers to use.
The lanai had a nice patio set and we often enjoyed our meals outside.
Parking was free and easy.

We traveled all over the island during our stay and this condo was very convenient. The second bathroom is a tremendous plus!
We did have an issue with the A/C unit when we checked in. Contacted the owners and they were all over the issue and got it fixed promptly. This is truly an owner managed property, like the original VRBO, and you can tell the difference!

The condo was in a nice building and in a nice area. It is located across the street from a beach park that is great for snorkeling but not a sandy beach/for kids swimming. The pool and hot tub were very nice and clean.
unfortunately there was an ant/bug issue while we were there. They did spray some raid and a company was coming in to spray, it just made it difficult for us to use the kitchen and cook.
there were pool noodles, life jackets, a cooler and snorkel stuff which was helpful. there were also pool and beach towels.

My husband and I had a seamless stay at this beachview condo with my mother and her sister - for my mom’s 80th birthday celebration. Communication with the owner was perfect, and the condo setup was ideal for our needs. My aunt has mobility issues but still was able to walk to and from the beach by herself. We all enjoyed plentiful hours relaxing on the peaceful lanai. All beds were super comfy. The kitchen was exceptionally stocked - and it seemed like the owners knew the perfect amount of items such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap and towels to supply us with for the four of us for a week. This location is on the busy Ali’i road, which made getting to many sites and stores super easy with our rental car. My mom even walked to a KTA grocery one day! My husband rented a surfboard just steps away and enjoyed a good surf spot right across the street. The beach also has guards and free reef-safe sunscreen during the day. Snorkeling at this beach was fun too. This location was also great for many excursions that we took advantage of. The owner is there for questions but lets you enjoy your vacation without getting involved unless you need him. Extremely convenient keyless entry system. Mahalo, Lawrence!

We had a lovely stay at this condo. It was conveniently located with a snorkeling beach right across the street. The furnishings were very comfortable and there were many extras (paper towels, plenty of TP, shampoos, spices for cooking, etc) you don't often see in rentals anymore. We stayed for IMWC'23; the property is less than 5 miles from all the action, close to groceries and any other typical amenity one might need. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and my family. The condo was perfect. Well stocked. Beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels. A boogie board. Some snorkeling stuff but we brought our own. It is the perfect location. Right across from an amazing snorkeling beach and surfing spot. 4 min drive to Magic Sands. 0.4 miles from a supermarket and drug store. Easy access into the more crowded side of town. Parking was easy. Really everything was perfect. We did a lot of things. Recommendations: the Pork Burrito at Shaka Tacos. Randy's Roadside BBQ. Night Swimming with the Mantarays. The Volcano National Park (we were so lucky as it was erupting when we were there). Just so much to see any do. Snorkeling is excellent at Mancini beach and by Captain Cook Monument. Just an amazing time!!! Black Sands Beach. Green Sands Beach. Hilo and all the waterfalls. Mauna Kea Summit Adventures (our guide was Kea. Excellent. I would ask for him). Thanks for sharing your place for a trip of a lifetime.

This property worked well for exploring the Kona side of the island. This is a small condo complex which feels very private. The unit is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. The two things that made this a great place to stay were the outside dining area of the unit which overlooks the beach across the street and the pool area. The pool had an infinity edge which also overlooks the beach. The hot ton felt great there were areas that were shaded.

We loved our stay in Kona and this condo was perfect. The space is warm and welcoming - with lots of extra things for you to use during your stay like beach chairs and boogie boards. It is central to anywhere you want to go on the Western side of the island and right across from Kuhalu'u Beach Park - which has amazing snorkeling. There is a great view of the beach and sunset from the lanai. We wish we had used the pool earlier in our stay - it is a great relaxing spot.

It’s on the 3rd floor with no elevator and a little challenging for my elderly parents and we could’ve used an umbrella and beach chairs during our stay but we were aware of that when we booked! Beach chairs were terrible, should be replaced with more suitable chairs for what the unit costs. The management was responsive to the clogged drain and missing beach towel. Beach towels were not great quality.
Toilet paper quality was poor, like worse that at my kid’s school. For the fee charged I would RECOMMEND request an upgrade on the TP :)

Our stay was so nice and the location for this condo is perfect! A short walk to the beach and a 10min drive to all the shopping and restaurants. The pool was a decent size and my littles were able to walk around part of the pool which is great. The beach across the way is very rocky so bring water shoes you don’t want to be barefoot but incredible snorkeling we even say sea turtles! The condo is decent sized, great views, we were able to cook and prep most of our meals. Everything was perfect for an easy stay with family. Also the lanai view is incredible, we ate most of our meals watching the waves and sunsets it was so nice. Absolutely recommend this place for a wonderful stay in Kona!

The location of the property right across the street from Kahaluu beach park made for easy beach access and a great sunrise/sunset view. Having two bedrooms at either end of the condo with the kitchen and living area in between made it ideal for working remotely while others slept. The wifi worked well. The kitchen was well outfitted so cooking was an easy option. The overall condition of the condo and furnishings was very good and comfortable for everyone. The owner was very responsive when I had some questions prior to our stay. We would readily return to this property and rent again next time we are on the Big Island.

If I were more selfish, I'd hesitate to say how lovely this home is because I wouldn't want it to be booked when we're ready for our next visit! But I can't say enough good things about this property and the wonderful hosts.
Everything was clean and comfortable, & the unit was well-stocked with beach supplies (chairs & towels) and kitchen equipment. The location is also great with an easy walk to the beach with nice snorkeling and nearby dining options.
The only thing negative I can think to say also a positive thing - a crew makes some noise with blowers around 7 am every day cleaning up the beach area across the street for a short time, so bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper like I am. But that's a very small price to pay for a well-kept beach.
It was easy to reach the hosts when we had an issue resulting from some scheduled internet maintenance, and the problem was quickly resolved.
We very much enjoyed our visit and look forward to staying there in the future!

The photos for this listing do not do this property justice. It is a beautiful apartment with a breathtaking view of a beautiful beach. We loved eating our meals on the balcony, feeling the ocean breeze. The pool was clean and warm, the beach has amazing snorkeling and surfing (you can rent gear at the beach), and the unit also includes some beach toys and boogie boards. The neighborhood is safe and quiet at night, yet very close to everything. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

We visited 4 Hawaiian Islands in 3 weeks, with all stays booked via vrbo, so we have some comparison. This was hands down the best apartment we had, at best value for money!
The apartment has a very good layout for a family with grown-up kids, large bathrooms, very nice master bedroom, closets of useable size, a nice balcony with good view. The building has easy access to apartments and zero interference with neighbours, also on the balcony.
If you have any snorkeling in mind (as we had), the location is absolutely unbeatable. With Kahuluu bay virtually at your doorstep, this is like having one of the best snorkeling spots of the Big Island as your private pool.
Also conveniently located on the Kona coast with good access to highway, for airport and excursions. Supermarket is convenient 3 minutes by car (and TCA is a good one).
So if you like the Big Island, snorkeling, being away from the hustle of a town, but still centrally located, this is the best package.

When we checked in we were told we had to wash everything (i.e. kitchen towels, beach towels) except bed linens and five bath towels (who uses just one towel when they shower?) when we left because the cleaning person wouldn't have time to do anything else! What?? Doing laundry for the condo is not my job. We have stayed on 4 islands in 6 condos & one boat in a slip at a marina, and this is the first one that didn't supply at least one day's worth of coffee so we didn't immediately go shopping. A little stingy with toilet paper and garage bags.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at Kahaluu Beach Villas. The apartment was impeccable and perfectly suited for our family of 5. The location was terrific - Kahaluu Beach Park is one of the best snorkeling areas for beginners on the Big island, and was right across the street. Overall a very convenient location for exploring the Kona coast. The drive to Volcano national park is relatively long (80-90 miles), but that is true in general from anywhere on the Kona coast. The local management team was great. We would definitely stay here again.

The standout feature though is the truly wonderful location. Lovely sunsets from the balcony and direct access to a world class
Snorkeling beach. There’s also a section of beach suitable for beginner surfing.
A car will be useful though as it’s a little distance away from shops and the busier part of town for restaurants etc.

Four adults and one three-year-old stayed in Gail’s condo for six lovely nights. This condo had it all! It is perfectly located across the street from a fun snorkeling/surf beach and a short drive to groceries and restaurants. It’s also near the Kona trolley stop as well as rental bikes. It had a great kitchen, very comfortable beds and nice walk-in showers! The views from the lanai were extraordinary for watching sunset or just relaxing while listening to the waves. Gail and the property management team are very attentive and easy to reach. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it!

Lovely condo on a lovely property. Well managed. Beautiful sunsets from the garden level lanai.
If you love snorkeling, stay here as it’s only a 3 min walk to Kahaluu Bay.
We would stay here again without hesitation.

We have been to Hawaii three times and this was our first experience on the Big Island and our first experience renting a condo. Every aspect of this adventure exceeded our expectations. The condo was located in Kona, really in the best part of town, conveniently located to shopping and in a quieter section. Close to some great beaches and restaurants. I would also add that the condo was as advertised, clean, and situated on the top floor of the complex which was ideal. The pool is perfect for the family, and so well done and our host made sure we had everything we needed from the time we booked throughout the whole trip.
We could not have been happier and already miss being there! I would not hesitate to book this listing.

This is a great place to stay. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. Myself and 5 of my friends stayed here. There was plenty of space. Parking was simple and having the beach across the street was perfect. We also loved the market that is close by and the pool area is amazing! I would highly recommend staying here.

This condo was clean, very well stocked and in a good location. There’s a grocery store and pharmacy & restaurants less than a half mile away. Snorkeling across the street was great and a short trip to 2 step to snorkel and downtown Kona to shop.
My only cons about this property would be the picture in the listing shows a building facing the pool and a slightly more ocean front experience that what it actually is. You can see the beach from the balcony and can watch sunsets from there. Also we had a Hawaiian centipede and some roach looking bug in the kitchen. This must be a known issue because we found a can of raid under the sink. Lastly, the washing machine has a big sign saying possible flooding and to be careful using it. I didn’t use it much because that was something I didn’t want to deal with on vacation.
Overall we were mostly happy with our stay.

This condo was perfectly located with an incredible view. We enjoyed sunrises and sunsets on the lanai. The beach park across the street is a perfect snorkel location. Access to the rest of Ali’i drive and plenty of food options was great. We spent a lot of time just relaxing and enjoying the peaceful and wonderful accommodations. There was so many amenities included. We would highly recommend a stay here.

![Beach Villas at Kahaluu "Surf and Swim" Condo]()
Our family had a great time staying in the surf shack. It couldn't be closer to the beach and all the amazing ocean activities and snorkeling. We were amazed at how much ocean life we could experience directly across the street at kahaluu bay.
We had a rental car but walked a lot to just enjoy the ocean views — we walked to magic sands (about one mile) for great days in the waves and sand and good lunches! Loved the restaurant too.
Highly recommend the manta dive (there is a great one close by out of the outrigger hotel). The mantas are so huge and the kids loved it too.
We also loved driving to mains Lea beach and lava lava to see more of the island. To offset the restaurant expenses, We hit the Costco on the way from airport to condo and had lunches and snacks and also enjoyed many breakfasts on the lanai and a glass of wine each sunset— the sunsets were beautiful and visible ever evening from the lanai. I'm a cook and had everything I needed to prep and cook for 6. Lots of dishes and new pans.
We were gone for most of the days but the kids and family enjoyed the evenings in the pool overlooking the ocean and sunsets as well.
Wonderful decor and charming space.

I had my husband, 2 kids, and my mom with us. Condo was exactly as described. You can watch a beautiful sunset from the lanai and walk down to Kahaluu beach for snorkeling in the morning. The walk is VERY short. Some road noise but it wasn’t bad and the neighborhood was overall quiet.
This unit is on the second floor but you have to go down one flight of stairs from the parking lot then up 2 flights of stairs to the condo. I didn’t see an elevator so keep this in mind when considering. It wasn’t an issue for us. We got a little workout carrying our suitcases. Also there is no screen door on the slider going out to the lanai so we couldn’t keep the door open at night. There are definitely bugs and you don’t want them coming in. We found two baby geckos inside the condo which our kids were excited about but some people might not be as excited. We also had a lot of gnats and one roach but we found bugs everywhere we went. This was not unique to this property. There were also wasps outside.
The central AC was perfect and cooled the entire condo quickly. It’s definitely a must have in Hawaii. It’s almost 90 degrees in the summer so you will use it. The unit had boogie boards, beach chairs, pool noodles, and snorkel stuff.
It would have been nice to have a local contact person. The only phone number I received was the Vacasa company number which was not convenient to call because you have to go through the menu options to get to a person. We would stay here again!

We totally enjoyed our time at the condo. The location was perfect, and the sunsets from the lanai were amazing. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. There were two beach chairs (it would have been nice to have more) and two boogie boards as well as noodles and towels for the pool. We did have to rent more beach chairs and a beach umbrella. The only minor "faults" were that it would have been nice to have additional bed pillows (some were a bit flat and some of us are used to sleeping with more than one pillow), it would also have been nice to have bath mats/rugs so we did not have to "sacrifice" bath towels to keep from slipping on the tile floors. The walls and floors are a bit "thin", you do hear the neighbors quite a lot. Overall it was a great condo, well kept, clean and great location!

We absolutely ❤️ loved our stay at the surf and swim shack. The home is cute, comfy and clean, great updated decor, also has easy to access to the pool out back plus the best snorkel beach in kona across the street. We agreed this is the easiest and most adventurous vacation we've had. Everything is right here and the beaches are unlike any we've experienced.
Our highlights were the kids (10, 11, 12) being able to try surfing lessons right here, experiencing an incredible in the water sea turtle sighting and fish first hand 🐠, the crystal clear blue water and fun waves, and being able to walk back home to grill and enjoy the kitchen and lanai with amazing view of the kona sunset each evening while we were unwinding. We also loved magic sands down the street.
