This was our first VRBO experience. If all hosts are like Courtney is, we will definitely do it again! She was very responsive when we had questions, she offered things for us to do local or within a short drive, as well as nearby restaurants and shops. Great location to walk to everything Waikīkī has to offer! Unit was exceptionally clean, and what a fantastic view to wake up to everyday!

We, three girls, stayed at Waikiki Sunset in May 2026 and truly enjoyed our stay. The exterior and building looked a bit old, but the property was very well-maintained. The room was spacious and comfortable for the three of us.The location was also perfect — only a few blocks from the beach, yet far enough from the center of Waikiki to avoid the heavy traffic and crowds. We appreciated being able to enjoy some peace and quiet while still having easy access to everything.There were a few minor issues during our stay. The electrical outlet in the bathroom did not work, so the washlet was unusable, and we had to dry our hair outside the bathroom. However, the property manager, Byron, was attentive and responded to our requests very quickly. He even called us outside of office hours to assist us, which we greatly appreciated.Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at Waikiki Sunset and would definitely like to stay there again in the future.

I was so happy with the Waikiki Sunset property. I've stayed at many properties in Waikiki because our daughter lives in Honolulu and this is by far one of my favorite places. It was so tastefully done and looked like the pictures. Courtney was an excellent contact and was very responsive at all times. I would stay here again when we decide to stay in Waikiki.

I regret booking this unit and would not recommend it. Pay attention to the bad reviews — you might get stuck with a crappy unit too! It seems that the realty company has a show unit they used for the photos because my unit was not as pictured, yet there are tons of positive reviews. The unit I stayed in was very run-down and poorly maintained. The couch and throw pillows were very stained, there were stains on the carpet and curtains, the toilet ran nonstop, there was a mark on the bathroom wall that looked like blood, and there was only one lamp (in the bedroom) so you had to use overhead lights in the living room at night. I told the host about the toilet multiple times and they never sent anyone to look at it. I contacted them right away about moving to another unit or getting some money back. They didn’t have another 2-bed unit available but offered a 20/night refund. I also asked for a free late checkout. I messaged them about it for the second time around noon on Monday and they did not respond until 30 minutes after the standard checkout time on Tuesday, at which point we had already left. Communication with the host was difficult as they seemed to be in a different time zone. Vrbo’s customer service was helpful and gave me some additional money back. I’ve rented multiple places through Vrbo and this is the worst experience I’ve had. The only positive things I can say are that it was very close to the beach and the AC worked well.

This property is a good value. Great location… Just two short blocks to Waikiki Beach. Parking was included and convenient to the unit. There were even beach chairs provided. We love the view. I would suggest that the cabinet doors need attention, and it would’ve been nice to have some starter coffees for those who arrive late in the day. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Courtney is a the consummate host!She is very present, answers questions with lightening fast speed, and checks in to make sure your stay is comfortable. The condo is spotless, tastefully decorated, well appointed, and comfortable for a couple or small family. It is wonderful to have onsite parking and the location is a short walk from anything: beach, restaurants, bars, cafes, and of course, ABC Stores. Instructions on the property are very clear, leaving nothing to question. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The kitchen was just the cooking appliance ances. They were in great shape. I guess I have been spoiled with seasonings, spices and coffee. One packet of coffee was left there for our use. We wound up purchasing coffee, seasonings and spices for our cooking. We did leave some behind hopefully for the next guest to use.The bidet toilet was a nice surprise in the bathroom. It was a new experience for us. However there seemed to be a leak next to the toilet. It stayed wet constantly.Overall it was a great experience and we will return. Thank you.

Finally, a Hawaii condo with a modern feel!This was our seventh condo in the islands but the first that didn't have that standard dated island look. You know the one; tan tile floors, wicker chairs, wicker tables, wicker picture frames, wicker pots and pans, wicker, wicker, wicker. Nope, here you had a huge modern kitchen countertop with clean white walls, vinyl flooring and just enough furniture to fill the space. Not cluttered. It's one thing to see it in the pictures, but quite another to walk into the unit. It was refreshing to say the least!The king size bed slept wonderfully, and in fact, I didn't say one time while there that I can't wait to get to my own bed. That was a first!The shower-head was a dream. It had umph. And upon close inspection I found is a Delta, not some cheap throw-in. That shows the level of class the property managers are operating on. The kitchen is well-equipped with new appliances and just enough space to move about. The communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. The location of the building is prime, the parking was convenient, and the building facilities more than adequate.There are swim fins and lawn chairs to take to the beach on the balcony, and patio furniture out there to just sit and chill.In closing, I'd rate the unit a 6 out of 5 if I could. The humans at Captain Cook Property Management know what they are doing, and will be the first I look to for our return to the wonderful island of Oahu in the fall.

The unit was exactly as pictured. It was clean, had a beautiful view and everything we needed for a weeks stay. The beach towels and chairs were great to have. There was even a cooler and umbrella in the closet. We didn’t have a car and could access everything we needed. There’s a small market nearby (236 grocery) that had basic groceries. We walked to the beach everyday. We didn’t use the pool but it was very nice along with bbqs if you wanted to grill. Communication was clear and easy. We felt safe and would recommend this property!

This was a very nice place with a terrific view of the beach and within easy walking distance. The unit is very attractive with appropriate gear for the beach including a cart on wheels which was very handy. Parking was very accessible to the unit although it could be a little tight. The unit does not have a diswasher but that was a small price to pay for the attractive unit. One of the nicest vrbo rentals I have done. I was traveling by myself which afforded me plenty of room. It is not huge but well laid out. Perfect for two more might be pushing it a little but with the pull out couch can sleep six including two built in bunkers. Highly recommended

Wonderful location! Minutes away from anything we needed. The place was clean, the bed was very comfortable (one of the things I look for!), the towels were fluffy, and the unit was supplied with everything we needed. There were even chocolates! The only unfortunate thing was that there was remodeling going on in the unit upstairs, so jackhammering each day was annoying. But we were out most of the day doing stuff, so not a huge problem. The folks we interacted with on the front desk were very accomodating and the property manager was prompt in responding and VERY considerate.

Perfect location - a few blocks from Waikiki Beach and downtown Honolulu. The pool was a nice alternative to the beach. Staff were friendly. Comes with everything you need to cook a simple meal so you can save a few dollars.Check-in could have been smoother. In the past, I've received three information through the app, but the property manager texted me which I didn't receive because I was using an esim. Overall, would recommend.

We stayed for 9 days and couldn’t have loved this condo more.The condo is beautifully remodeled and thoughtfully stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed including a coffee maker with filters, blender, pots, pans, Tupperware, and a water filter. We made most of our breakfasts and a few dinners with no issues. The couch was comfortable, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, which makes a big difference. The bathroom had great extras like a quality hair dryer with attachments, makeup towels, beach towels, laundry pods, and even bug spray and sunscreen. The patio also has a beach wagon, chairs, and an umbrella. We chose this unit over higher floors to avoid long elevator waits and were glad we did. Our favorite moment was walking in at check-in to music playing and a thoughtful Hawaiian treat basket from the host.The location ended up being perfect. It’s at the quieter end of Waikiki, making it easy to get in and out by car. The beach is a 5-minute walk and never felt too crowded. We walked to restaurants and shops most days. One night we took an 8 Uber to the far end of Kalakaua Ave and walked back, stopping at different bars and shops along the way. Our favorite nearby spot was Tikis Grill & Bar, and Duke’s Waikiki is also a must.Courtney was excellent with communication and clearly puts a lot of care into her guests’ experience. Would definitely stay again!

The location is perfect. Only steps from beach/Waikiki strip. Next to zoo so great green space on one side. Rooftop patio has great view of Diamond Head and green space and good view of beach. Communication with host was very efficient and helpful—lots of useful local information provided. The unit is in an older hotel so the room is small and a bit dated—not at all glamorous. But the location and communication with host and price can’t be beat.

This condo had an exceptional view of Diamond Head and easy walkability to anywhere in Waikiki. The included parking was an added bonus. Waikiki Beach was within a 10 minute leisurely walk and a large ABC store is just a block or so away. The unit was modernly updated, clean, and comfortable. We'd recommend it to anyone staying in the Waikiki area that values walkability while being on the more quiet eastern side of the neighborhood.

We had a great experience here - it is a well-maintained, well-appointed condo. This was perfect for our family of 4, with all the necessary amenities to make our stay in Waikiki very comfortable. Unit was just as described and very clean, and included a comfortable bed, great kitchen, and beach gear (including wagon, boogie boards and sand toys). Our kids also enjoyed the building’s pool, and we enjoyed sunrises on the balcony. We used the bunk beds in the bedroom, but the host had also provided a freshly laundered bed set for the pullout couch.The location was perfect - short walk to the beach, walkable to all Waikiki had to offer, but also very easy to get in and out of for car trips around the island. Included parking is a major plus.Courtney was very communicative, checked in on us during our stay, and provided really clear instructions for everything that made checking in and out super-easy and quick.

Beautiful stay with the best view I’ve ever had in my years of annually visiting the islands! Air conditioning helped make it a perfectly comfy stay (alongside provided tower fans), and simple kitchen with comfy seats. Provided parking was extremely helpful, and the system to get in/out was simple. Heated pool wasn’t so warm, but it was super windy so I understand. Lastly, the location: off to the edge of Waikiki but still close enough to walk less than 10 mins for yummy things & the beach - big deal for our little family with a toddler! Would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful room and rental. The views are amazing on the 36th floor with a great view of Waikiki, Diamond Head and the shoreline. Communications with the property manager were really good and responsive. We were here during the Mid March destructive Kona Low rain storms, Our windows leaked badly (as did many other units) and we needed someone to carpet clean and pull up the water - this was taken care of same day. We lost power as did a lot of the Waikiki district and the fire alarms in the building kept going off. The apartment was clean, well stocked and had everything we needed. Good amenities like the pool and laundry as well as the pool and parking that were included. Easy location to walk anywhere, or grab the bus.

This place was such a great find - clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, from beach accessories (sand toys, clutch wagon) to kitchen appliances (rice cooker, blender, pots, pans). There were towels of all kinds, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, iron, hairdryer, even sunscreen — not sure if it was left by previous tenants or not but it was a nice surprise. Our two little ones especially liked their bunk beds, and we appreciated the space saving of not having to use the pullout couch for them so the living room stayed a living room. There were even puzzles for the kids to play. The pool was nice and had a great shallow end for our little ones where they could go back and forth and stay above water. The view of the city and mountains was better than I expected - unobstructed. Parking was easy and not having to have a key to enter was more convenient than I knew it would be. Location was great for us as we were there for a wedding and all our friends and multiple activities were located nearby. Good food within walking distance and there was a mini mart in the building for quick essentials. Courtney was also very responsive but we really didn’t need to call her for anything. One bit of feedback I might add is that the tub was a little slippery for my little ones and could prob use a bath mat just in case— they almost slipped a couple of times but I was there to catch them. Thanks Courtney for a wonderful stay!
