We enjoyed our stay at Casa de Emdeko. The saltwater pool and outdoor spaces were spectacular. Good views of the ocean and sunset, including bowing the pū (Hawaiian conch shell) at sunset. The unit provided a great home base to explore Kona and the island. There were some areas of the unit that needed repair/maintenance, but they didn't severely impact our trip. The host was highly responsive and helpful

Before you book…This corner unit, with its wrap-around lanai, offers truly stunning views—crashing waves, incredible sunsets, the works.However, the overall condition of the unit is in serious need of a complete renovation. A deep, thorough cleaning would help, but the issues go far beyond that. We noticed dry rot, chipped paint, sticky kitchen cabinets, dishes in the cupboards that hadn’t been fully washed, and floors that were dirty enough that we didn’t feel comfortable walking barefoot.A major concern was the moths—not just one or two, I killed at least fourty ( no exaggeration ), appearing in both the kitchen and bedrooms. Some even flew out of the kitchen cabinets. Moth larvae can damage clothing and other items, so this is definitely something to take seriously.The master bathroom vanity light bar was coated with fuzz and had bugs stuck to it, clearly untouched for years.When we contacted the local owners representative regarding a few of these issues, the response we received was, “Well, that’s the tropics.” Unfortunately, that’s not an acceptable explanation. At the very least, regular pest control is needed.Note: Property features say there is a hot tub - there is no hot tub on the property.All in all - we enjoyed our time on the Big Island and will return. We just wouldn’t book B238 unless major changes were made. Take care of your unit, give it some Love - it has so much potential!

The location was good. The apartment was good and well stocked with towels & kitchen items although we did not use the pool or onsite facilities. We felt like we did not really have use of the lanai due to the birds making a mess or wanting any food one may have out there. Maybe some type of deterrent would help such as a plastic owl or such. It just didn't feel very clean out there. The mirrors in the bathroom over the sinks need to be replaced or a thorough clean as there was a lot of dust in the crevices as well as mold on the outside lower shower door. As nice as the tropical bedding decor is we would prefer bedding that can be fully washed between guests. Not bedcovers that are reused. Otherwise the property was fine.

Condo was clean and cozy. Check in and out were easy. Hot water was out for a day but water temperature for shower was not cold so it was not a problem at all. Complex was quiet. I had the pool to myself for the entire afternoon. Loved sitting reading on the lanai smelling the fragrant plumerias. Condo super close to ocean and pool was very convenient. Always had parking spot inside the gate. Cute market 7 mins walking distance with good coffee and food. 10/10. Will stay here again next time.

The condo is clean with new fixtures, cabinets and floors. The bathroom is very nice! The decor and furniture are spartan — more like a hotel than someone’s home. The kitchen was adequately stocked with plates, utensils, pans, etc. Lots of great towels for both bath and beach! The in room washer/dryer is a fantastic amenity. Four stars instead of five bc the bedroom mattress was very uncomfortable for me. It’s memory foam and very soft. Otherwise, our stay was a delight.

Secure parking.Only negative was a slight musty smell but this may have come from the washing machine that was left with lid open.Only 3kms from the pier.

We loved our stay here and will definitely look forward to returning the next time we are in Kona. The pool and grounds were fantastic. The bed has a bit of a dip but was still comfortable. Sheets and linens great. We loved that we had all the amenities for spending a day the beach. Two things that were frustrating was that the washing machine (with a light load) would shake so loudly we were worried the neighbors would be disturbed. The other was the bedroom blinds that didn’t close all the way. We had to put a towel over a portion for privacy. Hopefully easy fixes. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay and it was nice and quiet here with the convenience of a store for all our needs in front of the property. Thank you!

We LOVE this place! The apartment is literally 30 steps from the sea. The condo feels very cozy, with 2 swimming pools, access to grill, and fresh coffee in front of the apt every morning. Stunning sunsets at the ocean right by the apt. The location is also excellent, close to everything. The owner Ric is the best host, he gave us lots of precious tips, and accommodated every request we had. We are so grateful for everything this place made our honeymoon a memorable one.

We absolutely loved our stay. The condo itself was very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen had many helpful items already stocked, from coffee filters to spices. We appreciated the gift basket too - by far the best after having stayed in four other rental properties in Kona previously. The view was better than expected and with a very large lani we found ourselves outside daily. The complex amenities were also unbeatable - the oceanside pool and bbq grills. The air conditioner was perfect too, and if needed, there were fans in the closet.

We really enjoyed our stay in and would stay here again. This unit is conveniently located and has a lovely ocean view from the lanai. Everything was very clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, and I really liked having a washer/dryer in the unit. The air conditioning worked well and the king size bed was very comfy. There is an elevator. The pool area is awesome, with a fresh water pool, a salt water pool, a sandy "beach" area, grills, and tables overlooking the ocean. The complex is very quiet and peaceful and beautifully landscaped.

Casa was a wonderful place to stay in Kona. Cathie was amazing with communication and trying to be helpful in ensuring our stay was comfortable.
The bed was very comfortable, the pools relaxing and having the ocean just steps away to watch the sunset was so amazing!!
The only small negative was that the complex was working on the air conditioning so the one in the unit was not functioning properly. That said, it was still comfortable after getting acclimated to the island temps. Cathie offered to bring us extra fans to help.
On check out day, we had a late flight out and she gave us a late check out which made our day go so much better!!
I would and will definitely stay here again.

This condo was the perfect place to stay on the big island! We booked other more expensive accommodations for part of our stay, and regretted not just staying here the whole time! The condo itself is wonderful with great AC and hot water (which is hard to find other places on the island) and you get beautiful sunset views each evening from the deck. The pools and lounge areas are incredible and the community members are so kind. We truly had the best honeymoon here!

Everything was perfect. The unit is exactly like the pictures. Location is great. Close to town but far enough away you don’t hear the hustle and bustle of town. Sitting on the lanai having breakfast looking out at the ocean was a dream. We took a video to watch mornings at home while having breakfast there.We only used the salt water pool right on the ocean edge. One could walk right into the water. WiFi was fantastic even while out on the beach area. We couldn’t have asked for more. The management company even called our first day to be sure everything was as expected. One day there was a slight issue with a toilet and they responded immediately. Can’t ask for more than that. Kitchen and entire condo was very well supplied. Planning to return hopefully next year!

We really liked the view, the cleanliness, the welcome package and ease of getting in and out. We were close to restaurants and lots of different beaches on either side. Brent left a fish guide so that we could identify the fish and eels that we saw after snorkeling. We came on a shoulder season but we were very impressed with how quiet it was and we were on a middle floor. It was just right for us!

The host was very amenable and allowed us to check in a few hours earlier due to an early flight from Maui. Location was 10 minutes to some of the best snorkeling in Kona and 10 minutes to a lot of nice restaurants. However, on more than one occasion we ordered takeout for breakfast or lunch and ate on the large balcony with a gorgeous ocean view.

Vacation for family of 4. Great location-short drive to shops, restaurants, but far enough away so the area was quiet and not congested. Walkable to the Ali'i Marketplace. Condo was well stocked, had everything we needed. The cooler and beach items helped with packing for day-trips. The saltwater pool was a highlight of the property. The condo is beautiful - very clean and comfortable. It has a gated entrance to aide in security. The kitchen is well-stocked. There are two lawn chairs and umbrellas available as well as a small cooler in one of the kitchen cupboards. It is close to everything in the area. We recommend Huggos On-the-rocks for a nice sunset dinner. The property management met us at check-in to show us everything and make sure we got settled in okay. They even left an awesome welcome gift, including a fruit basket. I would highly recommend this property.

Really like the area, condo is older and very dated which was ok. The biggest inconvenience was the water was turned off on the entire complex at 9 am. We were getting ready in the morning and check out was at 11 am. Made a good trip end with alot of difficulty. Property manager should've have disclosed this prior to booking.

It was so relaxing and marvelous. The only thing that could’ve been a little bit clearer was what items were going to be furnished in the condo. We overpacked!’lol the saltwater pool that sits next to the oceanfront was just amazing. I took a life-size sugar skull floaty and just floated around in our off time while visiting the Big Island. My dear friend recommended Casa de Emdeko and I went to sleep each night listening to the waves which was the exact same thing that I woke up to. The tranquil of pleasant environment was exactly what we needed.I am 61 years old but I felt 21 the entire time! Thank you so much for the experience of a lifetime!
