Most of all, we appreciated that the unit is located right on a desirable section of beach. It is also very well-located relative to all of the fun things to do when exploring the island; other coastal towns seem to be further away from many of the island’s main day trips/hikes/destinations.

We enjoyed our stay immensely! Had a long weekend before our family joined us and we moved further south. Condo is exactly as described, and the view is perfect. We saw plenty of whale action with our morning coffee, even at this early point in the season. Our only comment is that the provided cookware (skillet) was not appropriate for the glass-surface induction cooktop - it left a visible scratch when we used it. Thank goodness for the Vacasa insurance, but we felt absolutely awful! The property manager was so great, and the process of reporting and resolving the damage was very professionally and smoothly handled. We would love to stay here again!

Overall a nice stay. We had some issues upon check-in with the cleanliness of the condo. After contacting Vacasa who put us in touch with a local property manager we were able to get this resolved to our satisfaction. We loved the location and property as it’s right on the beach and had great amenities. We felt the condo was not well stocked with basic amenities we’ve had in the past. It seemed that whoever sticks and ensures the cleanliness of the condo fell short this time.

There is a ton of road noise and a bunch of wind…the beach is decent, the actual condo is dated but perfectly adequate. The kitchen is well stocked while the dryer venting into the shower is gross from my perspective. Everything works and the lady that gives of a parking pass is pretty miserable. Hot tub was cold and grounds were well kept…you are close to a ton of stuff which is nice. I’d probably pick a different property off the main road next time just due to the noise in that I want to hear the ocean, not the cars 😊

This was, hands down, one of the top vacations of our lives, and owe so much of it to Karen's incredibly well-appointed home-away-from-home. The bed is so comfortable. We spent 3 nights at Sugarbush on Maui. The location was great, central to so many other cool parts of the island. And the views were amazing. We chose this property, because it had all the elements I was looking for: a beachfront condo with parking and a good central location. This property was perfect and I’m so happy we chose it.
Firstly, you walk into the apartment and the sliding glass door opens up to a gorgeous beachside view of the ocean. This unit is on the second floor and I was wonderfully surprised to see how close we were to the beach- I’d say 100 feet or so away. We had breakfast on the lanai every morning, listening to the waves crash, and watched beautiful sunsets every evening. The condo was very clean and well appointed with all the conveniences you would hope for. Also, the condo comes with some beach supplies like beach chairs and boogie boards, which was a pleasant bonus. The check-in process was very easy as Karen provided us with excellent, clear instructions before our arrival. It is also evident that she puts a lot of care and thought into making the people who stay at her property feel at home (if your home was on a beautiful sandy beach in Maui!).
The location of this property couldn’t have been better. It was centrally located to all the places we wanted to explore: 30 minutes to West Maui, 17 minutes to Paia for the start of the Road to Hana, and just over 1 hr to the summit of Haleakela.
I would absolutely stay here again. The only downside to the whole experience here, and there is only one, is that we had to leave. It was a wonderful home base for an amazing Maui vacation.

This place had EVERYTHING we could have possibly needed. We had a 9 year old and 12 year old share the pullout couch (super comfy) I might add, while we enjoyed the bedroom. The location of the condo is perfect, you’re literally 10 steps away from the pool and about 40 away from the ocean. I can say 10/10 we will be staying here again. Thank you for making our vacation so memorable!

Our second visit was much like the first, magical! The condo sits maybe 20 feet away from the water. I highly suggest staying here if you’re looking for beach front, it doesn’t get much better. We will stay here again the next time we come visit!

We did have difficulty getting the access code for entry to rental on arrival. Contact was prompt. We did however later find that information went to our junk mail. Due to travel loading of the email was slow. Didn’t look as other emails pertaining to this booking went to inbox. Code came from different contact.

We so enjoyed listening to the ocean all day and all night. The sunsets from the lanai were gorgeous! The place was immaculately clean and so very well appointed with everything that we needed. Everything was in great running order and all the amenities that we needed had been thought about in advance. Nice quality towels and appointments. Theresa, the property manager, was so friendly and helpful. Al, the owner, had great communication and suggestions. If we return to Maui, this is our go-to place!

The view and location is great, but the unit needs a few minor things fixed. Bed is really hard. Toilet tank valve squawks/squeals for 30sec after every flush. The light over the stove is out. Three different TV remotes had dead batteries. The overhead kitchen lights are too bright...need a dimmer switch.

When we arrived, locating the unit was easy. We found the unit to be exactly as advertised and was clean and well stocked with the necessities. I had to reach out to the owners for a non problem question and they responded immediately. The grounds are well kept with plenty of colorful foliage. We felt the hot tub a bit small for the size of the complex. We would rent this unit again if we travel there again.

The good news is that the location of this condo is terrific. It’s on the 4th floor, right on the water so residents can see, hear, and smell the ocean all the time. The beach here is good for walking and building sand castles. The other good news about this rental is that Vacasa is responsive, especially the local on-site staff. The Sugar Beach Resort staff were also responsive.
Now the bad news about this condo.
When we got there, the dishwasher was failing and ultimately failed. The onsite Vacasa staff were responsive, but the dishwasher had not been repaired or replaced by the time we left.
The bathroom is long overdue for a remodelling. The condo needs to be painted by a professional, not an amateur. The glassware needs to be replaced. The pots and pans need to be replaced. Either the lanai furniture needs to be replaced or the upholstery needs to be cleaned and stored some place other than the lanai so it will stay clean. The fake-wood flooring looks cheap, feels uneven and plastic under bare feet. The living room needs a larger coffee table. An area rug in the living room would be good. A couple of light bulbs were burned out. The fitted sheet didn’t stay fitted -- perhaps tired elastic.
In short, the apartment was poor value at $700 a night.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Condo. This is by far the best equipped VRBO unit we have ever rented. Everything you need is here. We did most or our own cooking and the kitchen is very well equipped. There are beach chairs, a cooler, umbrella and sand toys for kids. Its a bit away from "downtown " Kihei which for us was great as its quieter. The beach stretches for miles so is never crowded. If you are a beach walker this is the place for you. Larissa the local property manager was prompt and helpful. The surf is gentle, so great for swimming. The pool at the resort is large and there was never a shortage of loungers at the pool or beach even over the busy Thanksgiving weekend.

We would stay at this place again. The condo was beautifully updated and bright. The only thing was there is no separate door on the bathroom. It was not an issue for us, we just would close the bedroom door. The property, pool and beach are clean. It is centrally located which was perfect.

We love the location of sugar beach resort. We have stayed at this resort 2 times and have always been happy with our decision. This particular condo has road noise, but we expected it based on its location within the resort. I won’t say this resort is “fancy” but it has all the qualities (beachfront, pool, hot tub) for a great vacation. Bonus, is Dina’s sandwich shop, amazing Rueben sandwich!

They wouldn’t allow a later check out - and the cleaners were there before 10 for cleaning. Some items were dirty like vents etc, didn’t feel super clean. Chairs were all uncomfortable. Bed in the room was comfortable, but thin pillows. Pull out bed only ok for small child. Beach wasn’t great swimming but great walking.
Overall I would stay again, certainly not a 5 star stay but ok for average folk.

There is a small ABC grocery store within walking distance. But you’ll need a vehicle to get to the main grocery and restaurants. They’re located in the Central to South part of Kihei.
Property Manager of this unit is located opposite to the building office. Quick response and very helpful if something is either missing or not working in the unit.

The door in the bedroom is literally falling apart. Shards of wood breaking off. The carpet in the bedroom has a musty smell and you can tell it’s been there awhile. Our family woke up coughing every morning/sore throats.
Cockroaches + baby cockroaches when I showered.
The kitchen wasn’t stocked well. No pot holders, no measuring cups, very very minimal overall kitchen utensils.
No beach chairs. No sand toys for kids.
We’ve been staying at Sugar Beach for ten years all at different units. This was by far our least favorite.

You could even see Molokini and views of Haleakala in the morning colors were beautiful above the other building. Early morning walks on the beach were a great way to start the day. First of all Mahalo to Jon and Nancy. They have been so easy to communicate with and so accommodating. They truly have a little slice of paradise here at sugar beach. The ocean view is more stunning than the photos.
The condo is equipped with anything you could possibly want or need. Bed and pillows are so comfy. We truly enjoyed our time at sugar beach and hope to return soon!

Our first time in Maui and came early ahead of a business related trip. Booked this spot for the first four days and loved it. Easy to find, easy drive from the airport. The unit was extremely clean and comfortable with a great view of the ocean. Steps from the pool and the beach too. We had a rental car which made a big difference for shopping and seeing the sites. Host was great and answered the couple questions we had very quickly. We woudl definitely stay here again. You can’t go wrong with this soot.

The condo was exactly like the description and pictures. However, the view was much much better than advertised! Needed help with lock and Lucy was very helpful! Clean, well stocked and furnished. The amenities around the property (pool, chairs, beach and grassy area) were all great! In fact we extended our trip one night and stayed at the Wailea Beach Resort, the entire time we kept saying how much we missed Sugar Beach and it’s quietness. Made friends at Dina’s SandWitch shop on property as well! Great spot! All in all would highly recommend and look forward to rebooking next year! Thanks Doreen and Lucy!!!

Property was very clean and a great location.
Bathroom sink needs some attention as it is partially blocked.
Would like property owner to email me regarding my damage deposit refund. Specifically the credit card I originally paid for this rental was recently compromised and has been replaced. Hence to refund any monies to the original credit card would not be received.

We loved Sugar Beach Resort and were very pleased with our unit. For what we wanted to do, it fit our need perfectly and the views were incredible being right on the ocean with amazing sunsets. Pool/hot tub area was very nice and comfortable. Only thing to note, if you're wanting to do cooking in the unit, no oil or other cooking essentials are provided at least that we saw. Plenty of dishes and cookware though.

Beautiful resort. Well maintained. Lots of complimentary luxuries like coffee fixings, washer & dishwasher pods, etc. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Maui!

Check in process was easy and simple, the location is also fantastic. No problems with anything in that department. What we were disappointed in:
1. Was the amount of expired, old food & medication in the kitchen/vanity. I was shocked to see peoples prescription drugs left. There is a big difference between leaving some condiments and salt or coffee vs leaving old jam, expired prescriptions, literally (and I counted) 14 sunscreen tubes, etc. The overall cleanliness of the unit was good.
2. The washer/dryer is about 25 years old and needs replaced. Super sad to see a $1.2M condo and the owner not spend a few thousand bucks for a decent place to wash your clothes.
3. The mattress was really sad and hard, and the sheets could have been cleaner. Which I believe is a result of the washing machine being a joke.
4. The kitchen remodel they did looks and is great. However, the entire condo needs a paint job. All the walls and scuffed and dirty looking. The pictures are deceiving. Its these small things that really matter, and do not cost a lot. The bedroom closet is stacked to the ceiling with things that the guest should not be seeing. The disorganization of it is also sad.
I expect to stay in a place that is at minimum as clean as any mediocre hotel.

Can you say awesome and outstanding at the same time? - because that is how I would define this wonderful condo and host. The condo gave all the comforts of home and then some. Everything you need to enjoy a wonderful visit to a beautiful island and if you have questions, Megan was more than happy to answer. We love-love-love this place and hope to come back again. Mahaola for making our trip so enjoyable.
