We came to Maui to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. John's condo was the perfect location, right on the beach with a breath-taking view of the waves rolling in. The condo is beautifully furnished and comfortable. John is very responsive to any questions or concerns.

This condo is a perfect location, ocean front corner unit with spectacular views in all directions. It is steps to a long sandy beach great for walking. We enjoy the sunsets and watching people swim and snorkel right in front. Canoe clubs are close by and many canoes are out in the mornings. We have been coming to Sugar Beach since 1989 so our vacations have changed over the years. John was the perfect host who was very responsive to a couple of small issues encountered. The unit is tastefully decorated and we hope to rent this one again!

The bed was amazingly comfortable. The rental very clean, the outside furniture was very basic, with the table rocking a bit. Needs to be clean from the wind dirt but noting really bad. A foot rest for the sofa would be nice and the bathroom shower in need of an update. One of the towels you could smell the bacteria. All of these minor things could be addressed so easily. I would still stay again and recommend this property to others. If you know what to expect then we won't be disappointed. The most important thing when renting is the cleanliness, and the bed and they were both great along with the gorgeous view.

We were looking for something with direct ocean view and this unit did not disappoint. I could sit on the lanai and stare in awe for hours at a time.
Very clean unit. We were well stocked will all the essentials from shampoos to dish soap to laundry detergent. The kitchen is well stocked as well. We got good use of the beach chairs and cooler.
Bed is very comfortable and there were several pillows, extra blankets, several towels.
If you come to Maui for the ocean view and sunsets, look no further - this is the place to stay at. The trade off is slight longer drives to all the great restaurants Maui has to offer. We prepared a few meals at the condo so it wasnt an issue. I'm sure the shower and toilet area are being considered for a future remodel as it's looking a little tired compared to the rest of the unit but still very functional- just a minor criticism in thinking about what could be better.
John was also a great communicator and host. We were so appreciative that he opens up this unit to us as tourists. Mahalo John. Well be back without hesitation!

Perfect location from which to explore the whole island. A wonderful, calm swimming beach right adjacent, best bakery and shaved ice on island within walking distance. Everything was provided that was needed to enjoy this rental.

This condo is fantastic! This is our 3rd stay in this condo over the last 30 years, and each stay is memorable and special. It's quiet and just steps from the beach. The extra windows on the side of the condo give you a great view all the way down the beach! The condo is beautiful and bright, updated, and very comfortable and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped. The place could not have been more perfect. Truly a home away from home!
Sitting on the lanai, having coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evenings, listening to the waves, watching the catamarans, and spotting whales are all pretty spectacular. Walking on the beach in front of the condo is great too, and goes for several miles. Sugar Beach is a great swimming beach, too!
We love being in Kihei where you can eat at food trucks or have a nice dinner at a restaurant. There is a very "local" feel in Kihei. It's also great that you are in-between beaches at both ends of the island!
The owner is wonderful! He responded to our questions so promptly. He has a true love of his place and he's happy to share. An added bonus - he has beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, a cooler, and a bluetooth stereo!
Thanks for making our 40th anniversary and our 65th birthdays celebration so wonderful!!

Wonderful to be right on the water with both sunrise and sunset views. Central location makes it easy for travellers like us to hit spots all over the island in one trip. Owner provides great amount of items - beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, cooler. Had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Not all beaches are walkable. Sugar Beach is both walkable and swimable! Beautiful location in Kihei, driveable to everything you want to do and see. We loved having coffee on the lanai and enjoyed a glass of wine to watch the sunset. This is the beach where you go outside your condo and swim without having to drive! We appreciated the beach chairs and beach towels for our use. On site you can rent snorkel equipment and more beach supplies if you want more. Again, this is the best location.
The condo is recently remodeled--no popcorn ceiling, beautiful floors and the updated kitchen is great! We had everything we needed, including condiments.
John was very communicative and responded to all our questions. This was the much needed vacation we needed.

The desription of the condo is accurate. As a corner condo on the second floor, there is a wonderful view of the ocean and the coast line. The room is well stocked with cooking ware, plates, bowls, and silverware. Also there are two beach towels (in addition to the towels used on a daily basis), a beach umbrella, and 2 chairs.
The owner is an excellent commmunnicator. He is responsive to our questions. He clearly, wants all of the renters to enjoy their stay at the condo. He even provided us names of some of the best restautant.in the area.
We would definitely rent his condo again! The condo was thoroughly.cleaned before we arrived. and was well-stocked with spices, condiments, coffee pods, tea. etc.
By far, it was the best place we stayed during any of our vacations. whether it be in the US or abroad.

We spent our honeymoon here in Maui and this was both of our first times here on the island. The very first thing we noticed about this stay is the gorgeous view of the ocean. You can hear the calming waves from the room and it was always such a perfect start to every day waking up to the waves. The kitchen is fully supplied and the bathroom was excellent with great water pressure. The only thing we could comment on is that the internet and cellphone service was a little spotty, but it didn't really matter because our attention was to be unplugged anyway.
There is a cooler to use for the trip and also an umbrella to bring around. I'd recommend to always have those in the back of your car in case you make a sudden stop at a beach.

For my first visit to Hawaii, all I wanted was an ocean view and easy access to the beach. This condo was EXACTLY what I wanted and it was perfect! A beautiful view of the water from the balcony and just a few short steps to the beach. The location was terrific - not a very long drive to Lahaina, Wailea, or Paia. Perfect for an anniversary getaway!

We love staying at Sugar Beach Resort! Johns property is perfectly comfortable. The unit has everything for you to have a wonderful vacation. We appreciated the comfortable bed, high pressure shower (watch out if you’re sunburned!!!) the fully stocked kitchen +appliances and Tupperware, and the unbeatable view from our balcony.

Very much enjoyed our time at Sugar Beach. Being an end location gave is easy access to the beach where we walked on the sand every morning.
Sitting on the lanai every evening we watching the sun set with a glass of wine giving us a true Hawaiian experience.

This place was absolutely incredible! From the huge balcony to the sliding doors that opened up a 10 ft walkway out on the balcony, this place was a dream. It’s a corner unit with windows EVERYWHERE! One side has a view of the mountains and the other is a gorgeous view of the ocean! It’s just steps away from the beach! The owner was very nice, professional and responsive. The A/C worked great and it was stocked with all the necessities in the kitchen and bathrooms. It was very clean, smelled good and is in the perfect location in between Wailea and Lahaina. We will definitely come back and stay in this exact unit! Thanks guys!

The property is right in front of the beach and is a quiet area with a farmers market and close to all the main attractions (maybe 30 mins or less to the north or south)

Property was great. Stones throw away from the water, spectacular views of the beach! Location of property made it convenient for grocery store runs and many local restaurants near by. Short distance walk on the beach to the local farmers market! Pool, hottub and grills were very nice amenities. If you're planning to use the grills, leave some extra time to wait in line as half of the gross were turned off due to covid restrictions but that also left time to talk to other vacationers. Overall a great property with many nice amenities and conveniently located.
