The property management was unfriendly, and when we arrived, we were greeted by a list of what not to do - not a great atmosphere to start a vacation. The list included a statement, "We do not provide customer service." Really? The apartment was reasonably clean but not that well stocked compared to other VRBO places we have stayed at. The complex has four elevators, one of which was out of order, and the service elevator(s?) was being used by the contractors, so there were great delays getting up and down in the building, which wasted a lot of time. The location was close to the beach, but we were surprised at how the section of Waikiki around the hotel has aged and how the area is in need of some major updating. I think the major attraction of the apartment is that it is close to the beach, but overall staying here was not the best experience for my family.

We recently spent one week at this condo. It is on the 21st floor of the Waikiki Sunset near Kuhio Beach. The host, Courtney, sent instructions before our arrival on exactly what to do to check in and welcomed us with a lovely gift basket. The unit was very clean with a view looking towards the mountains which was beautiful. We had a car for the week so we could go all over the island. The parking space was a great convenience. The location of the hotel to many restaurants was perfect. Thanks for a great vacation!

Exactly as pictured-clean and finished nicely. Nice to have provided tp, shampoo, etc. Easy check in and code door means no having to carry keys around. Comfy big bed. Older teens used bunk beds and they made it work bc they didn’t want to open and close couch every night, but just know the bunks aren’t true twins. As others have said kitchen has plenty to cook a nice meal. Long wait for elevators during this busy Christmas week. Always able to find a parking spot in the garage. Thanks Courtney for a great place to stay for our Christmas vacation!

Ali’I Beach Rentals was a great property management company. They responded promptly to our request for batteries for the TV remote and when the cable and Wi-Fi went out. Unfortunately we were disappointed that we were not made aware that the building is currently undergoing renovation/construction which caused disruptions to the elevators, electricity, A/C, cable and laundry facilities during our stay. One of four elevators had been out of service for weeks and we sometimes waited up to 15 minutes for an elevator - and always packed over max capacity. The building and unit are somewhat dated (e.g. stained carpets in hallways and elevator lobbies, old laminate flooring). We appreciated the free parking and the location was excellent. For light sleepers, note there is a bit of traffic noise on the 17th floor.

Its location is fine. It feels trapped in a concrete jungle. Great to have beach chairs etc in the room. It was clean. It smelled of foreign cooking which being world travellers didn’t bother us too bad. Check in was perfect. Great communication with the host as in amazing. The world’s worst elevators. 20 mins just to get from the 9th to lobby. This is due to cleaners needing them as well. Hideaway bed was rock hard and a pancake. It was just very avg in all ways except guest host communication which was super stardom.

The unit was very clean. The view when opening the door into the unit is of Diamond Head through the sliding glass doors. NICE! Only negative is the sometimes long wait for the elevators. (One of the four was down for repairs when we visited). A four block walk to Waikiki Beach was a nice bonus. Shopping and restaurants are all around. We would stay here again if visiting Oahu.

I wish I could give a “4.5” to this property. Here are the pros:
1) Great location—within a mile of Waikiki beach and shopping
2) Spotless
3) Beds are comfortable
4) Condo is supplied with plenty of dishes, pans, etc all in good shape
5) WiFi is strong
6) Byron is helpful
Cons:
1) This is an old building with soiled carpeting and poorly maintained hallways
2) This is a 38-floor building with the condo on the 24th, but only two elevators of the four are in working order—of course they are on the ends so if you are standing on the Murphy’s Law end and don’t scurry to the other end you’ll miss it and have to wait another round. According to staff, it’s been that way a while.
3) The very heavy door of the condo is old with a broken spring to soften the closure. The smart lock wasn’t working and so the three of us had to be sure someone had the solo key.
4) There is an app to pay for laundry and it is located right next door to the condo—good news is it’s close, bad news is you get to hear people going in and out doing their laundry.
5) As of December, the property has some kind of construction going on. There is no place to park while you check in—fortunately Byron was on site and could come out to the street to give us the parking pass for the garage.
6) Leaving requires loading your car, having one of your party pull out and park in a “no parking” zone while another waits for one of the two elevators to go back up to the condo and return the pass to the condo.

We were in town to visit our son, daughter in law, and new grand daughter. The accommodations were amazing! Parking included was a game changer as others spent time looking around for parking we were able to walk the couple of blocks to the beach. The room was very nice. Pictures matched on line listing. Excellent location to beach, shopping and downtown life. Most everything was in walking distance. Transportation available and easily accessible if needed.
A few comments:
Instructions for TV not provided in English
The common areas in the hotel do NOT match the apartment unit, taking away from the overall appeal.
The laundry area and the trash room need attention to both cleanliness and stench (which permeates to the hallway).
More clarification may be very helpful regarding hotel guest services/ private property ( bag check, towels, linen service, coins for laundry and cost).

There were a lot of things wrong with the apartment, one of them being the leaking refrigerator which caused me a lot of grief having to my mop up after it every two days. The water leakage has been there for such as long time that it caused the wooden kitchen floor boards to break up and had to be duck taped all over - watch out not cut your feet!
A lot of equipment were also broken, such as the rice cooker and cracked up mixing bowl, and some just missing like a water kettle. There were only four forks in the apartment to eat with. The microwave is so beaten up that the timer setting is unreadable.
A lot of the towels were stained and the curtains were hanging lopsided and ripped. The sofa covers are heavily stained as well. There is a huge gap underneath the main door where the wind catches it making the door constantly rattle. Lines of the terrace lights were broken with some missing the light bulbs entirely. The owner was renting her van out on Turo and placed the key in a lock box attached to the apartment door. People were coming early in the morning and returning the keys late in the evening fiddling with the lock box each time. When the combination to the lock didn’t work, they would knock on my door asking for assistance. Eventually when the lock box wouldn’t open at all, the owner insisted that I look for the spare key of her van in the apartment (which was no where to be found in the end). Also a parking pass had to be shown to the parking attendant for her cust

This property was exactly as described: beach across the street, walkable to shopping and restaurants, inexpensive, tasty mai tais with sunset views at Hula’s on the second floor, and a rooftop deck with unobstructed sunrise views of Diamond Head. Kevin, the owner, was responsive and informative. He also knew we were arriving late and made sure to provide coffee for the morning. We would be happy to stay here again.

Could use another bedside table in the bedroom and there were no beach towels and nothing in the kitchen but salt & pepper. It did have boogie boards and beach chairs, which was nice. The building is in a very convenient location and the pool and bbq area make it easy to play and eat w/o having to go to a restaurant. It’s great having a laundry on each floor and a mini mart in case you need something quick. Parking included with the rental is a god-send!!

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Waikiki Sunset. It had everything you think you would need while on a Vacation in Hawaii. The unit was clean, and the check in and out process was a breeze. Only thing that would have been great to have was a scale, just to make sure you don't over load your checked luggage ( with all the souvenirs we purchased ) before you head to the airport.
We will use Ali'i Beach rentals again in future trips to Hawaii.

We really enjoyed our stay at this unit. The unit itself was well furnished, and conveniently located. There was some utility construction going on in the garage and around the perimeter, but it really wasn't an issue at all. If you're considering this unit for your stay, go ahead and book it!

My sister and I rented the unit for a week for a mini vacation and to visit our Grandpa for his 90th birthday. The rental unit was everything we were hoping for!
Check in was simple and our property manager Byron was friendly and quick to respond. The door keypad came in handy, you didn’t need to worry about losing any keys and could just use a passcode. There were plenty of parking spaces and the garage was easy to navigate in a larger car like a Dodge Charger.
Our unit was super clean and organized and provided all the appliances and dishware you could need, there were even seasonings, paper towels and dish soap, extra towels and linens, and beach equipment.
The hotel is in a quiet location close enough to the beach and just a short stroll to all of the Waikiki activities. As 2 females, we felt safe walking back to our unit even at night as there were tourists everywhere at all times of the day.
From the balcony you can see a little bit of the ocean and a clear view of Diamond Head with amazing sunset lighting later in the day. Best of all was the strong A/C unit, it was a very comfortable stay.
We really lucked out getting this unit for our vacation/homecoming visit as it became our home away from home, we were really sad to say goodbye and will definitely consider renting again for future visits.
