Helen was absolutely wonderful and her property was outstanding. Everything was as described, the beds were so comfortable, the lanai was unreal, and we wanted for nothing in the kitchen for cooking or in the beach items closet. She left us a bowl of fresh fruit and coffee beans to get us started. Very happy with our stay, I would come back here in a heartbeat.

The place is nice and the location is beautiful. It was incredibly rainy when we were there and realize that impacted the staff but communication was not great. We are very understanding but we had voicemails and texts and app messages that weren’t even answered for several hours and sometimes overnight. If you could just say “received we have someone on it and will be in touch in a couple hours” that would have been helpful. Plus with having 3 ways to communicate I wasn’t always sure which method to use. Again, it was extreme weather and we understand that impacted things but I believe you can always acknowledge communication quickly even if the solution to the problem isn’t as quick. We would consider staying here again based on the quality, price and location of the property!

John was a fantastic host. He was responsive to all of our questions and provided a good deal of information. The unit was clean and well kept. There was an amazing amount of sports equipment, including snorkel, golf, and other items. The kitchen included a wide range of spices and adequate dishes and glassware. It would be useful for the information to include the fact that while this is a first floor unit, there is an outdoor staircase that must be climbed going in and out of the apartment.

The place was very nice. Unfortunately we were not notified that there was bulldozer, diggers, boulder crushing and dropping construction. Happening 15ft in front of our balcony. This was known prior to the renting agency as they shared the government notice with us afterwards. We lost 2 says of our Hawaii vacation time escaping this noise for another much nicer and cheaper place. Overall a nice place. The lower rating reflects our unfortunate experience. Maybe a 3-4 star otherwise. The owner did take the high road and refund us 100%. Thank you for that.

The location was perfect, the unit nicely decorated and had everything we needed. It was nice to have water chilled in the refrigerator! Compared to other VRBO, the kitchen supplies were very limited. We had salt and pepper and a few other spices. We found only 2 coffee filters, which seemed odd.We could have used a pan to heat up a pizza, and a pizza cutter!

We think this is just about the perfect VBRO! You are located just far enough from downtown that there is no traffic but easy access. Great parking and easy unit access, and you are 45 feet from jumping in the pool. The unit itself is spacious, the beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, and it even come with extras like 2 coolers, beach chairs, snorkel gear, etc. The only missing element is AC, but we lived just fine with the breeze and fans.

The condo was beautifully located just off of a golf course. Every morning we could wake up, walk out to the lanai, and enjoy the quiet sunrise & at day’s end, a gorgeous sunset. There were boogie boards, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, beach towels, available for beach days. The condo was clean and well laid out.

Location was great and the unit was walking distance to the marina, access to a swimming beach, grocery stores and the Outrigger Hotel. This was the second time my family stayed at this location. Helen is truly wonderful and helped us navigate our trip. She kept us informed of volcano eruptions and potential pitfalls of traveling around Ironman. As before, the location can’t be beat. Close to swimming with manta rays, snorkeling and Alii’ Drive but far enough away to enjoy the quiet. There is nothing better than the beautiful sunsets from the lanai. Amazing place to stay.

Close to supermarket and Manta ray snorkel tours (walking distance) As other people have said A/C would make it extra perfect but I think if you had AC you wouldn’t sit out and enjoy the Hawaiian sunshine so glad we did that!

Our family had an amazing stay! It was the perfect size for our family of 6. We loved the open concept. The large outdoor patio was nice for dining and relaxing. It was in close proximity to many desirable beaches and activities. Super close to the night time Manta Ray swimming tours (which was an absolute highlight for us). It was very quiet and private. The pool was excellent. Very clean and was used by my kids every single day at least once. Hot tub was great for adults. Communication with host was prompt and helpful.

Really enjoyed the spacious balcony with view of the birds, mongoose and goats on the golf course. You can also see the ocean on the horizon through the trees! This unit is warm with no AC, but manageable with lots of fans and screened doors/windows. Used the kitchen and the grill frequently- well stocked! Lots of space for the family to spread out. Lots of towels and water gear (boogie boards, snorkels etc). Third floor unit however there’s only one flight of stairs (parking lot is at the second floor of this building). Complex was quiet and peaceful. Next to no noise from the nearby road. To note- the front door has a bit of a trick to get in: need to turn and hold the key turned. The door handle doesn’t move the latch. Only the key does! Took us a minute to figure it out. Turn the key and push the door while the key is turned. Unit is older- so it’s not luxury…but it is very comfortable!

The layout is nice just like the VRBO ad... No a/c my fault I should have checked into that more as the VRBO ad did not list a/c in the unit.... Here's the real big problem bugs of various forms and lots and lots of them I and my wife have been bitten it was terrible.... So this and the hell like heat made this stay miserable .... I am sure that this was state of the art in 1940's and I could be happy if I paid 1940's prices so ha way over priced and of course VRBO agent said they could nothing about it

This rental looked too good to be true with the price point it was listed at, but it still managed to blow away expectations! The owners went above and beyond to make sure we knew everything there was to do here, and that we were comfortable doing so. This really did feel like a home away from home. The accommodation for kids were amazing, making this an extremely family friendly location. Any communication with the property manager was always promptly answered with a very short turnaround time. Overall, I was extremely impressed and would definitely stay at the Salty Mermaid again!!

The condo was nice and the owner was very responsive. We did have to find a balance between having the screen doors open and bugs during the evening time. There was no problem during the day. There were nights we slept with the screen door closed due to bugs and it was pretty hot. This may have been a time of year issue. We were there in the beginning of June. Again, the upstairs got pretty hot at night, even with fans going. However, we loved having three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master bath was spacious.

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful apartment. The layout was great, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms modern, and the kitchen perfectly equipped. Everything was spotlessly clean. From enjoying breakfast on the terrace to relaxing on the cozy sofa, we truly felt at home. The temperature was perfect thanks to the curtains and ceiling fans, and having a washer and dryer was super convenient. There were plenty of towels, bed linens, and beach gear available.One small issue came up when the dishwasher broke down, but someone was sent over immediately and fixed it on the spot – it was handled quickly and without any hassle. Communication with the hosts was smooth and highly professional. We didn’t miss a thing and can wholeheartedly recommend this place. Many thanks for everything – we’d love to come back!Just one little note of caution: watch out for stray golf balls – one flew right at us while we were relaxing on the terrace!

An excellent well maintained, well stocked and quiet condo in a convenient location for exploring, beach time and going to good places for snorkeling. The Fair Wind and Hula Kai snorkel cruises are the best and very close to the condo. The wi-fi works perfectly and we watched a little TV on Netflix. And- it’s quiet! Not a lot of kids running around making noise. My wife and I and some old friends had a delightful time.
