We have stayed at Hali'i Kai multiple times. This is a large unit with lots of space. Clean and lots of beach toys, tennis rackets etc. Hali'i Kai has a resort style pool area overlooking the ocean with a restaurant and bar, you can watch whales and enjoy a mai tai while your kids frolic.
This is the first time we stayed during the christmas-New Years week. The pool area and restaurant were quite busy and had a couple of hiccups (seemed understaffed), but food was still great.
My only mild complaint is the check in office is only open in the middle of the day, so it was difficult to ask about any issues that aren't emergencies. For example, the air conditioner had to be reset multiple times, we wanted new beach towels. Nothing major.

We really enjoyed our stay. The condo is a great first floor unit - close to the pool club and in a quiet area. Best part is that even tho it is not beach front, you can see the ocean from the patio :). We had issues with the bath tub in one of the showers clogging. We asked the check in people if they could clear it and they did immediately which was so nice but it clogger right back up. Otherwise, terrific stay in a well stocked, comfortable condo. Thank you.

The condo was situated in a gated community….the unit itself was 10 mins walk from the pool and beach club. It was well stocked with non-perishables and I particularly enjoyed the bbq. Kitchen was fun with the barstools and the view overlooking the golf course, the volcano and the ocean was amazing for breakfast coffee. They also had all equipment for the beach (chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear…even boogie boards). Host was super communicative in advance of our arrival. The only cautionary note I would offer (which has nothing to do with the hosts) is that the pool is not really welcoming to young kids or teens….they discourage “boisterous play” and we were scolded for throwing a ball around. It’s more suited for older adults that simply want peace and quiet and want to lie by the pool - we saw whales and the outdoor gym is so cool. My 10-year old claims it’s the best pool she’s ever frolicked in. I really recommend this place. Great memories were made!

We had an amazing time watching whales and gorgeous sunsets. The location made it easy to go out and about during the day and come back and relax in the evening. My only complaint is that I’m allergic to fragrance so the sheets caused a reaction due to being washed in scented laundry detergent. The pillows were also extremely flat. Those two things did not diminish the incredible time our family had on the Big Island!

This is an breathtakingly beautiful location, totally oceanfront with whales swimming by. The unit is large and comfortable.
The living room couches and chairs were comfortable for reading, and the couch on the upstairs lanai was particularly nice for reading and viewing the ocean. The lower deck has a dining table and chairs, and we ate breakfast there most days.
The beds have foam padding toppers - if you like a softer bed you will love these. The bedding was all well-cleaned. The bedroom dressers had ample storage space and insides of drawers were clean.
The kitchen is very well equipped - the owners invite guests to use the various oils, seasonings, etc., and to replace what is used up. They also left laundry detergent, which was much appreciated. They have a lot of food storage containers, and even some ice packs and a picnic bag so you can keep your lunch chilled on the beach.
Various outdoor chairs and snorkeling items were provided, also much appreciated!
The pool club is a short walk and great for lunch, drinks, or dinner. There is a lovely little workout room there as well.
We would definitely stay here again if the unit were available for our travel dates.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this fabulous condo! It was very clean, spacious, comfortable, peaceful and quiet. Thomas and Gail are excellent hosts! They were so responsive to questions and provided me with useful and valuable information about the area.
After full days at the nearby beaches and exploring the Island, we would catch the beautiful sunsets and enjoy dinner at the Ocean Club most evenings. The food was excellent and there was live music.

We have stayed in various units at Halii Kai at least 10 times over the years, probably more, and keep coming back to this development. This unit is 3 bdrms / 2 baths. It is further from the pool than we would like, but it fit our needs and budget quite well this year. Being on the ground floor was great if you don't like hauling your luggage up stairs, and the spacious lanai opened directly onto the lawn, perfect for a quick morning walk. It was generally clean and comfortable. Three small complaints. First, most of these units have beach chairs for use at the nearby beaches like Mauna Kea and Hapuna. This 3 bedroom unit had one chair suitable for an adult, and 3 that kids could use. We were disappointed that there were not 2 chairs for adults; 4 adult chairs would have been ideal. Second, there was no grill on the lanai. Most units do, including the units next door, but not this one. So that changed our meal plans considerably. To be fair, the "amenities" list did not include a grill, and we will look more carefully when we select a unit for our next stay. Third, the electronic lock on the front door required you to enter 10 digits, and the keypad was quite fussy -- if you did not press the 10 key sequence exactly right, the red light would flash and you would have to start over. This was very frustrating. A 10 digit code seems extreme, when my bank PIN is only 4-6 digits. Bottom line is that we had a GREAT TIME in Hali'i Kai again, and will return.

This was our second time staying in this condo. It’s beautifully decorated, well stocked, and clean. The owners/hosts have gone out of their way to make sure their guests have everything they need while on vacation. The kitchen had every item we needed to stay in and make our own meals. There was a closet full of beach chairs, snorkel gear, pool floats, beach towels, and ice chests which came in handy on the days we went to the beach. The Ocean Club and resort style pool were our favorite place to watch the whales & the beautiful sunsets. All of the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are big. It’s a quiet community. You will feel right at home. I would definitely recommend staying here. It will exceed your expectations.

I booked this unit mostly because of the abundance of 5 star reviews, but I cannot give it any more than 3. The location of this unit is outstanding. It’s right on the ocean front, and is tucked away in the corner of the Hallii Kai property, so it was very quiet. Views from the patio were awesome. Our problem with this unit was the cleanliness. Upon arriving we could immediately see the lack of effort put into cleaning this unit. There was a layer of dusk over everything. The refrigerator (a very nice Sub-Zero unit) was smeared all over the front, and had a dead fly inside. The bed sheets in the master bedroom didn’t feel like they had been washed since used by the previous occupants, and the bed had clearly been sprayed with Febreze in order to mask the odour. We soon discovered that there was only ONE roll of toilet paper in the entire unit. I checked in every cabinet and drawer in the condo and did not find another. Several rolls of paper towels and boxes of Kleenex, but only one partially used roll of toilet paper. With the high cost of renting this unit, one would not expect the need to run out to buy toilet paper.
I’m not sure if the responsibility for cleaning the unit is with the owner or the property manager, but it was clearly a “ten minute wipe-down”. Very disappointing considering that there was a $250.00 charge for cleaning. Although the location was excellent, the cleanliness of the unit was a real turnoff. We would never rent this unit again.

The unit was filthy and oven broken. Day before Thanksgiving we find out. Offered alternative unit by property mgmt but then they ghosted us. Nearly ruined our vacation. I had to fight the entire time and it was so dingy and filthy. They should be ashamed! I got a very small refund. We had to eat Thanksgiving at Macaroni Grill. Was told standards are too high! Ha! They Offered us cleaning service to tidy up and when we accepted they said it’s $250! Super unprofessional! Do yourself a favor keep looking! If I was the owner I would look for another property mgmt. also buy a new entry rug so gross! Ocean nice and amenities good but not worth the trouble to live in filth! It was such a battle they over promised and way under delivered.

This property was amazing. The location and amenities superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here during Thanksgiving. Even managed to cook a perfect turkey in the kitchen which was very well stocked. The only minor gripe is more of a personal preference. The master bed mattress was very firm with smaller pillows, made for some slight discomfort when resting, that being said overall 10/10 would absolutely love to stay here again.

The private ocean club is a true gem. The pool is stunning, and the food and drinks are delicious. We enjoyed spending evenings there listening to live music and watching the sunset.
The lush landscaping throughout the resort is beautiful and well-maintained. We loved taking walks around the property and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
The location of the resort is ideal. It is close to Anaeho'omalu Beach, the King's Shops, and many other popular attractions.
The property managers were very responsive and helpful. They answered all of our questions promptly and provided us with excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do.
The townhome felt like HOME. It had every amenity you would need when spending a holiday week away from home.
Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about Hali'i Kai Ocean Front Resort. It is a truly special place and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable vacation in Hawaii.

This was out first vacation since the start of COVID. Checkin was seamless and property manager was always responsive and suggested many vacation activities. The property worked well for our family of 5 adults - had everything we needed for the house - all appliances (high end on he major ones), house supplies for kitchen, laundry and cleaning. Only downside was one adult had to sleep on the pullout couch - and as with most pullouts it was not comfortable after a few nights (probably would be fine for children). Lanai was very useful with view of ocean and afternoon sun.
This was our first time in the Waikoloa area - and would definitely stay here again.

This upstairs condo is well-located in the Waikoloa complex, close to the ocean with a terrific view of the gorgeous sunsets. The pool area and pool restaurant/bar were above expectations. The grounds were attractive and well-maintained. (There is a $25/day additional resort charge that must be paid at check-in.)
We stayed in this same unit in 2021. It was a lovely unit then. At that time, the furniture/decorating was significantly better. When we arrived this time, although the view was lovely, we were immediately struck by how stark and sterile the condo felt. It no longer had the comfortable living room chair or any of the decorating touches from 2021. Even the two bedrooms felt stark, as compared with before.
Kleenex was not provided but when I asked about it, the Resortica office kindly obliged. It also seemed strange that outside water bottles were not allowed to be brought to the pool. Lastly, to get a pool/workout/gate pass, you need to make a stop at the Castle Resort office on property. This was cumbersome, the hours weren’t convenient for our arrival (10am-6pm) and the woman in the office was not very welcoming. We arrived after 6 pm and couldn’t use the pool or exercise facility until 11 am the next day, because of the office hours.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but felt like we were in a hotel room, versus the lovely home we visited in 2021.

Great location! This listing is directly adjacent to the pool & restaurant; very convenient. The gated community is very clean, quite & manicured. The property has everything you would need in the kitchen. In the garage there are coolers & beach toys. They even had a descent/old set of Callaway Big Berthas w/White Hot putter. I would definitely book this again; highly recommend! I would suggest they have the carpets professionally cleaned though. They are not disgusting, they just take away from the overall impression of the property.

This condo was perfect. Probably the best one we have ever rented. The location was exactly the dream spot possible and even better than the pictures show. As others have reported the unit was the most well equipped and everything you could want is there for you to have a wonderful experience at the condo and at the beach.
The section of the resort was secure and the close walk to the Ocean Club with its pool overlooking the ocean and bar and grill was a winner.
There were many things to do nearby including world class beaches and great restaurants.
Something was there for everyone. Shopping was available nearby in the same neighborhood so easy to stock up and cook at home in the kitchen that had all the items you would need.
The decor was lovely and comfortable inside and the beds were very comfortable. The Master bath has both a huge tub and shower. we were impressed with all the labels on lights etc to make it all so easy to figure out.
This was the perfect place for our group with an elderly couple adult couple and young child as it is a first floor unit with no stairs. The huge back yard with view of golf course and the ocean beyond was amazing. We spent much of our time on the covered porch watching to sunrise and sunset our toddler playing safely in the well landscaped and groomed lawn watching and chasing beautiful birds.
Lastly the weather there was perfect everyday and the ocean was not to cold to swim in November

We had a wonderful stay here with 5 adults and two kids. The neighborhood is very peaceful, great to take a morning walk with the kids. Beautiful views from the clubhouse. Close to all sorts of restaurants and shopping. Has all of the amenities we needed and we really enjoyed having breakfast out on the lanai. Would definitely recommend!

We loved the condo and it’s location in the Kali Kai neighborhood. The condo was modern and well supplied. It’s a short walk to the pool and the Ocean Club restaurant. When we ran into a minor issue with the washing machine, Burt and Krish promptly replied and got the issue resolved quickly. We wish we could have stayed longer!

This stay was our 6th in Hali'i Kai condo. The condo is in a great location across from the Ocean Club with a fantastic ocean view. We watched the sun set from the comfort of our lanai. Overall, the unit is comfortable and well equipped. We would stay again.

Lance and Susan were quick to answer our questions. Property clean, lots of kitchen supplies and other "stuff" you might need since they stay there at times. Two bedroom arrangement worked very nicely. View from patio is great; well-kept grass, view of golf course and good walking conditions. Ground floor makes coming and going easy. Not a lot of activity in other units; almost as if we had it all to ourselves.

We loved the condo. Perfect size for our family of 5. The proximity to Hapuna Beach, shops and restaurants was ideal. The resort property was well manicured, the pool was awesome and not too busy - always a few lounge chairs available.

This was a fantastic place to stay. As soon as we came through the gates we saw a beautiful resort setting. The landscaping was beautiful. The condo unit was awesome! So many upgraded features- the appliances, furniture, decor. Being a first floor unit was very nice. We loved sitting on the lanai enjoying the view of the lava rocks and ocean. Loved seeing the waves crash up. Our kids enjoyed playing out on the grass as well. The pool and workout facility was also fantastic. Highly recommend staying here!

We had an excellent stay at this property. Great location, clean & nicely decorated etc. We loved the private pool/restaurant with it’s wonderful ocean views! We come to the Big Island yearly just for a week of R&R. Would definitely stay here again.

I would highly recommend this unit! The oceanfront location (and outdoor lanai) is amazing and the condo complex itself is super conveniently located and has all the benefits of a larger hotel without the crowds. The unit was absolutely spotless and was literally the best stocked/equipped unit I have ever rented. They thought of everything! Sue and Kerry were very responsive and fixed a minor issue immediately. I would absolutely stay there again! It was perfect for our family of four!
