This was a fantastic place to stay. As soon as we came through the gates we saw a beautiful resort setting. The landscaping was beautiful. The condo unit was awesome! So many upgraded features- the appliances, furniture, decor. Being a first floor unit was very nice. We loved sitting on the lanai enjoying the view of the lava rocks and ocean. Loved seeing the waves crash up. Our kids enjoyed playing out on the grass as well. The pool and workout facility was also fantastic. Highly recommend staying here!

From the moment we drove through the gates, we knew we had chosen wisely! The grounds are so well maintained that my husband said he felt like we were driving through a painting! The location is PERFECT. Only a few steps from the pool where we enjoyed amazing service and food at the outdoor restaurant. The unit itself is well appointed with very comfy bedding. The master bath is nice and roomy. We cooked a couple of nights and found the kitchen very well equipped. One night, we even cooked steaks on the grill by the pool. The view to the ocean is simply PERFECT. We enjoyed it with coffee each morning on the Lani and evenings for the stunning sunsets. Our upstairs neighbor even saw Spinner dolphins in the early morning hours (sad we didn't see those, but understand they are a frequent occurrence). Other reviewers have detailed all the great toys and equipment which we certainly took advantage of. The chairs and umbrellas came in very handy at the local beaches we hiked to. Probably our only slightly negative comment is that the unit is really designed best for 2 to 4 people. Not sure I would want to put more in it for an extended period of time. Otherwise, we HIGHLY recommend you consider this property if you are staying in the area. Your private covered parking spot just outside your ground floor unit makes enjoying the island a breeze. The owners were AMAZING! Very quick to communicate and even mailed me back a pair of shorts accidentally left behind!

This was our second visit to Hali'i Kai, and our first stay in this particular unit. Doug/Vicki were great hosts, and were very communicative during the whole process. Great condo and location so nice watching the sunset every night from the Lani. The condo is beautiful with everything you would need with high end amenities. The hosts were also great to deal with….Only draw back was the pool at the complex owned by someone else they has very strict rules no outside food or drink, not even a water bottle. And no flotation for adults not even a small noodle. There is a bar and restaurant at the pool if you need water or food but a bit pricey. There is a nice workout area by the pool with high end equipment as well….overall a great stay!

I've stayed in my fair share of VRBO's, and this one is in the top two; probably #1 due to the comfort of the bed. Vicki was very responsive AND accommodating. The view is spectacular, the furnishings are high end, and the whole place is fully stocked. Read on for specifics...
For outside fun there are plenty of:
- boogie boards x5
- beach umbrellas x3
- a cooler x1
- Snorkel gear, fins, masks and snorkels x3?
- tennis gear, pickleball equipment, putters for the green, and a basketball.
- sunscreen, bug spray and after sun cooling lotion, (may be prior guest leftovers).
Inside:
- high end appliances (SubZero, Viking, etc)
- The kitchen is fully stocked. Like 3 different types of wine glasses, Tupperware, seasonings, coffee/tea, pots and pans, and plenty of everything stocked.
- There are extra bath towels. Sounds basic, right? But as a family of 4 that stayed in 3 different hotels on 2 of the HI islands this trip, we found that every one of those hotels only provided us with 3 towels. Total.
- laundry detergent, stain stick and dryer sheets
- first aid kit (moms everywhere appreciate this!)
- the mattresses are SOOOO comfortable!
Location:
- watch for the pod of dolphins swimming by at 8:30 am (in mid-August) off the lanai
- stars are incredible!
- right next to the pool/restaurant
Things I'd add: a cutting board and reusuable ice packs for the cooler. That's it! Stay here, you won't regret it! We will if we go back to the BI.

The pictures don't do this place justice! The view is awesome, and my kids loved running around in the lovely lawn out back. The apartment is impeccably clean and comfortable with newer remodeling. It was so nice to have 2 full baths, ample closet space, and empty dressers to fill. My kids loved playing in the beautiful pool. The sunset and star-watching was excellent too. The ample beach equipment provided was a nice bonus.

This property will not disappoint. We were on the run exploring the Island and every time we came back to the condo it was so nice, relaxing, comfortable and absolutely beautiful. We relaxed by the pool a few times which was wonderful as well. If we go back to the Big Island, I would not stay anywhere else.

We had a wonderful stay at this condo. It doesn’t get any better than this unit. Best view, so close to the clubhouse and walking trail, it’s own covered parking spot that even fits a large suv, stocked with all the equipment needed for a day at the beach and all the amenities you would have in your own home. Hali’i Kai grounds are beautiful and so quiet. You saw workers everyday keeping the property looking gorgeous, landscaping, window cleaning, paint touch ups. The bed was the most comfortable we’ve had on a vacation. Going to miss our daily breakfast and sunsets out on the lanai. Usually by the end of our vacation we are ready to get back to the comfort of home. This place had us all not wanting to leave. We are already trying to figure out when we will be back. Thanks for sharing this piece of heaven with us!

We loved our stay! The condo is lovely. It's very warm and inviting, with beautiful, local artwork in a variety of media. The appliances and furnishings are top-of-the-line. The beds are very comfortable and furnished with lovely linens. The view is other-worldly in its beauty. (I could not stop taking photos.) The owners clearly thought of everything in preparing their property for guests. We travel to the islands every year, and we've had the good fortune to stay in many lovely places. This condo really stood out, though. The resort amenities are wonderful. The pool/restaurant area is very close, and the food and staff are wonderful. We've had the good fortune to stay locally at the Fairmont Orchid, but we prefer the pool and poolside restaurant at Hali'i Kai. The service, for one, is much better at Hali'i Kai. Kathy (amongst other staff members) made us feel very much at home. And the pool area wasn't crowded, which was a big plus. We had a great time and are grateful for the experience!

This was our third trip to Big Island, and have visited others. This was the best value and nicest place we've stayed in on any Island trip.
Everything was clean and well organized in the unit. The lanai and views are really amazing. Amazing sunsets every night. There were people around, but it was mostly very quiet both in the unit and on the lanai. The location is convenient to local attractions. We mostly visited Hapuna and Kauna'oa beaches to the north, but took advantage of shops, etc. in Waikoloa.
It's nice that the pool and restaurant are close, though the pool is kind of small/shallow. We didn't swim there. We tried to grab dessert at the restaurant a few nights but they closed pretty early and the closing time wasn't consistent. That said, on the time we did make it the food was good and the service was nice, and we didn't fault the early closing.
The trail out front (enter near pool entrance) provides a route to walk to the Hilton in one direction and 49 black sand beach in the other way. Each are about 15/20 minutes walk. Very scenic, but rough loose lava rock.
We'd definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it. Great for a family of three or two couples.

Hali’i Kai is our favorite place to stay on the Big Island, and it doesn’t get any better than this unit. It is beautifully situated right on the ocean. We watched humpback whales breaching and took in the sun sets from the lanai. It is conveniently adjacent to to the pools as well. Our family had a wonderful stay and we can’t wait to return again next year.

This is our second time at Halii Kai, we really like this condo location. It's gated, it has an amazing ocean front pool and restaurant which is very convenient. This condo was great! Clean, and offered beach towels and some beach gear. The beds werent comfortable for us, we like firmer, these you sort of sink into, but I realize a bed preference can be a hard match. There was only 2 of us but this was a great Floorplan for 2 couples offering privacy from eachother. They gave us a card and welcome gift for our anniversary trip which was a nice gesture:)

Condo is in very nice condition. It is everything you expect for the price. Amazing views and overall grounds are immaculate. Only minor complaint is the community pool and workout room closes at 8pm and they were crazy strict about bringing in outside beverages, water, coffee, anything.

We enjoyed our stay-it was more than perfect. I enjoyed drinking coffee on the lanai every morning. That view! The beds were comfortable (so important on vacation) and the unit gave us enough space to spread out.
We really liked the extra touches and the availability of being able to borrow some equipment during our adventures.
The Ocean Club & pool is literally a 1 minute walk away. No need to worry about parking or walking in the dark.

This condo is the perfect place to stay on the Big Island! It has it all! The condo is perfectly decorated with the cutest decor! Everything feels like new and the cleanliness of the condo was beyond spotless! The best part was the location! I don’t even know where to start. There is so much to rave about. My mom and I spent a week in this fabulous hale for a girls’ getaway. We knew this was going to be a special place as soon as we came through the gate. The grounds of Hali’i Kai are beautifully manicured. So nice to drive to the building and have a dedicated covered parking spot. The condo is extremely clean and exactly as pictured. The kitchen is well appointed and had everything we needed. It was also nice to have a full size washer/dryer. What a treat to see beautiful sunsets every night, from the lanai. The location is perfect - ocean front and close to the pool, workout room and The Ocean Club Bar and Grill. Speaking of the restaurant, the Ono Fish & Chips is to die for and the Mud Pie is delicious. We followed the lava path to the Hilton Waikoloa on 2 mornings. Grabbed iced mochas and watched the dolphins. We didn’t want to leave. I’m hoping to be back with my husband, before too long.
We had a couple little hiccups during our stay. Doug and Vicki responded quickly and were so pleasant and easy to work with. They are definitely deserving of all the phenomenal reviews. Thank you Doug and Vicki, for sharing your wonderful hale!

My husband and I spent a week here and would definitely return! Hali’i Kai is a small gated community with a great pool/restaurant/bar area right around the corner (just far enough away to not disturb our peace and quiet on the back patio).
The view is exactly as described- gorgeous! Mornings drinking coffee and evenings watching the sunset we’re perfect.
The accommodations are excellent- everything we needed was here and of high quality.
If you don’t like the sprawl of a huge resort this is the place for you. We went next door to the Hilton one night for dinner and while we recommend the restaurant (KPC), the place was like an amusement park and we couldn’t get out of there and back to our peaceful setting fast enough!
Very convenient to some really good golf. Take the lava walking path to the black sand beach at 49.

What a fabulous place! Hali’i Kai 14C immediately exceeded my expectations when I first entered the front door. An incredible ocean view is what you first see. Condo is well-designed with tasteful and comfortable furnishings. I was super thankful to have nice quality beach equipment, but disappointed both of the Tommy Bahama backpack chairs were in poor repair. The grounds of Hail’i Kai are beautifully landscaped. and Waikoloa Resort is the perfect location for some of the most beautiful Big Island beaches. I loved the resident herd of goats I would see on Waikoloa Beach Drive in the late afternoon. I loved my stay here and will look forward to staying here again. Thank you for providing such an all around amazing rental option!

We stayed at this condo with our 8 year old and had one of the best vacations. Doug & Vicki were so lovely & helpful. The condo is stocked with everything you need in the kitchen, items to go to the beach, and to play tennis/pickleball. The location is amazing! Best sunsets & sunrises right from your lanai. The pool with the restaurant & bar is so close which is nice. We saw whales from the pool area. So fun!
One of our best activities was taking a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour. Book the Big Island Spectacular with the add on of landing next to a waterfall. The heliport is only a 5 minute drive! Don’t hesitate to book this. Most incredible tour!
Right next door to condo area is the Hilton. There is a path that you can take to walk there. We booked a resort pass for the day and my 8 year old got to enjoy the waterslides. We also booked with Dolphin Quest swim with the dolphins that day as well. We rode a tram and took a boat on the property. And there are many restaurants that you can book within walking distance from the condo which is nice so you don’t have to drive.
If you want to go to a beach just 10 minutes away is Hapuna or Meana Kea beach which are incredible!

The place itself was maybe even better than the pictures. Rooms were spacious and had dressers, etc. Master bath had dual sinks. Kitchen was very well stocked with things you need and there was a nicely stocked pantry with items such as coffee beans, coffee grinder sugar, syrup, etc. Location was right next to the restaurant/pool/bar area. The restaurant and bar seemed to have the best food and drinks on the Waikoloa property. Oh yes, and the first day out on the very nice lanai , we saw a whale spouting water from its blowhole not to far from shore. Excellent experience.

Not only is the place fantastic, but the location within the property is uber-perfect! Property is beautifully decorated and appointed with everything you could possibly want or need...all in working order; great beds, towels, dishes, etc. The view is to die for (plenty of Right Whale sightings) and you're just the shortest walk to the pool club (great amenities and food BTW). We can't imagine staying at any other place in the community! We will definitely stay there again❤️

First, the location is excellent. Less than 30 minutes to Kona, Waimea, and the best beaches on the island. The unit is pristine, and appointed to feel like home. You can tell the owners love their hale and want us to enjoy it as much as they do.
Note on the unit itself: this downstairs unit is one of three ‘waterside’ buildings in the development, which makes it particularly desirable. Being able to walk outside in the evening onto the lawn and watch the sunset is what a vacation like this should be all about.

Vicki and Doug's unit had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The oceanfront view was absolutely fantastic and we loved watching sunsets from the patio. When we arrived we encountered a minor maintenance issue, but Vicki went above and beyond to help us resolve it quickly. The Hali'i Kai complex offers both pickle ball and tennis courts, and the Ocean Club is very convenient for a quick meal and lounging by the pool. We had a great family vacation and hope to go back again soon. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Vicki and Doug.

This unit was beautiful. It was well-kept and convenient, with a gorgeous view right off the lanai. The night sky was so dark we could see the Milky Way from right outside the back door. The owners were very kind and went above and beyond to make sure we had the information we needed to check in and enjoy our stay.
The pool in the complex is small but pretty and comfortable, and the food and drinks were terrific at the restaurant that overlooks the pool.

What a wonderful stay! After being homebound for so long, we needed to get away and what a wonderful place we found. This condo is ocean front and has an amazing view. I got up every morning at 5:30 am to see the sun rise. I quietly sat on the lanai reading or drinking my coffee. I got a couple of peaceful hours before being joined by my teenage boys for a game of Uno. 13C had a box full of great card games. We didn’t want to leave anywhere, the lanai was fantastic. Now inside, the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay. Top of the line appliances, and little details that make a big difference such as aluminum foil, coffee filters, ziplock bags…The rooms were so comfortable and the ceiling fans a big hit! Finally, all the extras such as beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, sand toys, basketball, rackets and everything else were wonderful addition. Overall, this condo was amazing. We can’t wait to come back and stay at Hali’i Kai 13C once again very soon.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was perfect! The sunsets are amazing and the amenities in the condo and the beach toys make the stay so effortless. The lanai is secluded even though there are neighbors and the building was really quiet. The property has a pickle ball court so we bought paddles and balls at Walmart for $20, which was well worth it. This booking is a must if you’re on the Big Island!

This is a beautiful property. The location couldn’t be better. We loved proximity to the club and walks along the ocean paths. We made it a point to be at the property every evening for the stunning sunsets (although we missed one evening because of a late return from Volcano’s). We absolutely loved this property and will try to rent it again our next trip to the Big Island.

If you like Waikoloa this is THE SPOT! Fabulous ocean views and totally upgraded. Right on the ocean (although it’s a walk to swim in it) and near the pool. Vicky was very easy to communicate with and addressed a few issues right away! Unfortunately we did not enjoy Waikoloa, it felt very touristy and the community staff made me uncomfortable with very strict, bizarre rules. Overall I would recommend this place IF you like a “resort” experience where all inhabitants are here for vacation. The actual unit is probably the best one in the entire community!

Waking up to and enjoying coffee over a stunning oceanfront view gave us such a fabulous start to our days, and coming back to catch the sunset with a cocktail was an absolute necessity. A small issue with the condo arose during our stay, and it was handled promptly with urgency and so much grace. The unit was extremely clean and welcoming upon arrival, and the check-in process was straightforward. It was stocked with everything we needed during our stay. The property and grounds are also lovely and immaculately maintained, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We would not hesitate to stay with Doug & Vicki again - truly felt like a home away from home in paradise!

This is one of the best condo's at Halii Kai. The location can't be beat. It's oceanfront, right next to the Ocean Club and Pool, and has a nice open lawn in front for the kids to play when not at the pool. The new owners are extremely nice and responsive. We've stayed here several times and each visit has been great.
This trip was during covid, so everything on the Island was a bit different. It was also spring break and Waikoloa was crowded. The servers at the Ocean Club were fantastic as always. Sapphire is so amazing and remembers us every year. The pool had some issues during this trip with kids makinig "messes" which forced the pool to be closed on our first day and last day, so was disappointing. They also put in so much extra chemicals to shock the pool and several kids, including ours had chemical burns. That part wasn't great, but is not a reflection of the condo itself.
