What Do Guests Think? An Analysis of 59 Guest Reviews

Reviewer Portrait

The following executive summary is based on a comprehensive and impartial AI analysis of guest reviews. Keep in mind that all units are individually owned, and review scores among units can vary considerably.

Guests consistently praise Hawaiian King’s unbeatable central Waikiki location. It’s an easy walk to the beach, International Market Place, shops, and dining, making it a strong value pick for travelers who plan to be out exploring most of the day. The building has a classic, vintage-Hawaiʻi feel—older and not high-end—but many find it charming and a great budget-friendly base.

Units are generally described as functional and well equipped, with full kitchens and thoughtful extras like beach towels, chairs, and boogie boards. Several reviewers mention comfortable beds, efficient A/C, and smooth, flexible self check-in; hosts are noted as responsive and helpful. The courtyard and small pool add a pleasant communal touch when open, and some guests appreciated the relatively quiet interior courtyard despite the busy surroundings.

Common trade-offs come with the prime, urban setting. There is no on-site parking, so guests either circle for street spots (often along the canal) or pay for nearby garages. Noise is a recurring theme—bar activity downstairs, street noise, and early garbage trucks—though some guests were unbothered with windows closed or earplugs. The building’s age shows in places: low water pressure is reported across multiple stays, and cleanliness/maintenance can be inconsistent between units. Pull-out sofas/futons aren’t universally comfortable, so parties needing multiple real beds should choose carefully. Overall, expect a clean-enough, practical stay with standout location and value rather than a polished resort experience.

We had a great, relaxing stay in Wikiki! The correspondence with the host from booking through the duration of our visit was excellent! Directions from check in to checkout were clear. Although the property was a bit dated, the suite was very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed to relax and unwind. The location was exceptional as we were able to walk everywhere and enjoy a variety of shops and restaurants within close proximity. The suite was stocked with everything we needed to enjoy the beach- chairs, umbrellas, towels and a great wagon. Our host graciously checked in with us during the course of our stay and dropped off a few items that helped keep us supplied for the duration of the trip. Thank you!

The property is in a great location and the building looks weathered, but it’s close to everything! The owner was accommodating and she met us at the complex to check us in early. She was kind enough to come right away with a spare key when we locked ourselves out of the unit. The unit was clean and welcoming and a cozy home away from home! The only potential negative is the local bar downstairs and the occasional unwanted attention from one of the patrons. The owner Jieru is wonderful and has thought of every detail, she makes you feel like family… I highly recommend this place!!!

This was a great stay! Jieru was friendly, communicative, and brought us Taro donuts. The apartment was clean and tidy but had everything we needed for a great 3-night stay. Beach, restaurants and shops are very close at hand, including an excellent place to get matcha shaved ice. Very highly recommended and thank you!

This condo is located in an older building in the Waikiki area. Although the property is a bit rundown, JieRu's unit has been very nicely upgraded. It is very comfortable and the host has thought of everything you could possibly need during your stay. The main bed was very comfortable; the sofa bed is perfectly fine for children but probably not for adults. I highly recommend this host and her unit.

The condo worked great for our short stay in Honolulu. Location is right in the middle of things for easy dinner options and only two blocks from the beach.

This spacious, nicely decorated & very clean Studio with a bedroom separate from the living room was perfectly located in central Waikiki. It was perfect for my Solo visit, yet could easily accommodate a family of 4. An extra special Mahalo to the owner Jie Ru who always followed up promptly & was very accommodating & welcoming. Definitely worth a return visit🤗

Really liked the room. The entrance was a bit confusing but we figured it out. We were glad to have a parking pass.

This was a good location which was close to everything in Waikiki. Walking distace to restaurants, shopping, and the beach. The condo is nice and clean. Jie did a great job communicating the process for checking in and out. I would definitely come back again.

A gorgeous little studio steps away from the canal and a short walk to the Waikiki beach. It has everything we needed and many extra cute little welcoming touches that we appreciated. We stayed in a resort before this and preferred the studio over that. Very easy interacting with Jieru, she was responsive and helpful. Will be recommending to our friends and staying here again.

We,ve had the pleasure of staying at this property for ten yrs. Always clean, location, very close to all amenities, bus nearby. Hope to stay there soon.

This suite has been recently renovated, and was immaculately clean. Nice and quiet, and very secure. Regular owners/tenants in the building are friendly and keep an eye on the place. The only negative was the building itself has no parking, and parking in the neighbourhood is difficult. If you need to rent a car during your stay, arrange private parking elsewhere.

Beautifully decorated, a hidden gem. Impeccably clean. The tree branch off the lanai porch creates the ambiance. Would stay here again. Suggest to add a couple of nice reference books of Hawaiian content. Building itself not much too look at, but the building is safe, key fob to enter, one block from the International market. Booking was easy, and the manager was punctual with communication.
