Connie did a wonderful job of making her house feel at home. She had so many wonderful details, from oils to seasonings, to kids toys and books. She also had so many outside hooks to hang up our wet items from our day of adventuring. She also purchased a screen door for the condo(which hardly other units had) which provided a much needed air flow for the condo. Connie was quick to reply, easy to contact and lovely to work with. The condo was absolutely stunning, the view was breathtaking, the pool, fantastic and the turtles we seen made this condo the perfect place to take your family. My kids are already talking about coming back, which i would not be opposed to! Hopefully some day we will.

This place is truly a hidden gem - ok maybe not so hidden as its always booked, but its just an exceptional view and stay. You're own fairly private sunsets every night. Pool with a view just steps away. 2 minute walk to see the turtles. As pretty much everyone says the loft get abit hot, fans work but it wont get cool. The daily constant breeze is the life safer. Place was clean and we appreciated the extra amenities (spices for cooking, cleaning supplies etc). Highly recommend!! Only downside - its on the west side of Maui, if you plan to do the HANA road, just know its about an hour drive to the east side of Maui before you officially start that road. Other than that, which isn't really a negative, the place is well worth the stay!!

Location was great. There was a little beach by the property with sea turtles everyday. You did have to climb down some rocks to get there but nothing difficult. View from the lanai was beautiful. My family and I absolutely loved this property. When we initially found the property on Vacasa we thought the windows looked like they had fake photos or window coverings to make it look like it had a beautiful view. It just looked to good to be real! (We have had this happen in other properties before..) But no, the view really is that spectacular, from every window in the place. The kitchen is large and has everything you need, both bedrooms are a nice size and the beds are large and comfortable. The property was newly updated and is in excellent condition. Everything was perfect except for the heat. This is our 15+ trip to the Hawaiian islands and 5th to Maui and this was the hottest we have ever been. It is probably our fault for booking in July, but we have stayed at places without A/C before (tons of properties in Hawaii do not have A/C) and this was by far the hottest. The ceiling fans were loud and did not move much air, it was hard to get a nice breeze, and the other fans provided were pretty dirty. I say all of this not to say not to book this property, on the contrary, I would absolutely recommend this fantastic property. I would just strongly advise against going when it is super hot outside or advise you to bring along or purchase a few fans. We will potentially stay here again because the place is simply perfect and the views are breathtaking, we just cannot do it again in the summer.

We thought we were getting a pretty old unit from the pictures, but were pleasantly surprised that it was newly painted with new landscaping. It’s the end of July 2025 and there’s no need for AC. Great breeze and every unit has an ocean view. The bathrooms could use a good shower head (they get pretty clogged in the islands), maybe a hand held shower would be a better option, and change it more often. Great ice maker in the freezer. Main thing the bathroom shower works well and the beds are comfortable. Would stay here again.

The location was perfect, quiet and peaceful, but still walkable to local coffee, restaurants, and beaches, and the oceanfront pool and sea turtle sightings were such a bonus.

You will love Mahina Surf 228 if you love to see turtles playing in the ocean, flying fish schooling nearby, rainbows light up the sky almost every morning and evening, and being lulled to sleep by the ocean waves. This unit is exactly as pictured. The views are amazing! There is an adequately stocked kitchen to have home cooked meals and keep your expenses down. The public grilling area is fantastic. There is a shared laundry room. You will need to download an app to start the machines. The bed is comfortable but the sheets are not soft and the pillows are very flat. Wish we had packed our own, but we are bed snobs. LOL We were there mid July and the unit does get very warm during the day. It takes quite a while to cool down in the evenings. The loft stays pretty warm at night even with the provided fans on high and the light from the porch keeps it pretty lit up even at night. If you need a dark and cool room to sleep make sure you get the downstairs bedroom. Overall we felt this was a very safe, beautiful, and quiet area. We would definitely return!

Great stay for my family! What you see is what you get. The view off the lanai is stunning and where we spent most of our time while at the condo. Condo is well stocked and the host was very communicative and easy to contact if we had questions. The beds were comfy. It did get warm in the condo but we found that the ceiling fans and other provided fans helped. There is no AC. Would definitely stay here again!

The Maui Turtle Condo at Mahina Surf was better than advertised. I'll start with the condo: The owner, Carol, was amazing to work with. She reached out to us right after we finalized the rental and was always there with information and help. Not that we needed any help once we got there! The condo is in tip top shape with plenty of room for our family of four. The views from the balcony were amazing.Mahina Surf is a great complex - the grounds are nice, the BBQ's are great, and the pool was nice after a day of exploring the island. We also thought that the location was perfect - felt like we were right in the middle of the West Shore and everything it has to offer.We will be staying here again in the future!

Overall, this is a great spot in Maui—we’ve stayed here before and really liked it. But just a heads-up: as of May 2025, there’s ongoing construction that wasn’t disclosed by the owner or Vacasa. They were redoing the common grassy area and landscaping - most of the grassy area is mud / dirt right now including immediately outside our our room. Sprinklers would go on and off throughout the day, meaning you’d either get soaked or have to wait to cross the shared grassy/pool area. Landscaping work was happening all week. Most of the apartments were roped off with yellow construction tape, which kind of ruined the vibe.
Unfortunately, this all came as a surprise when we arrived. Had we known ahead of time, we would’ve booked somewhere else to avoid the construction hassle. It honestly felt a bit deceptive not to disclose this— the only response we got from Vacasa was a flat “truly sorry to hear that.”

Since this condo is located directly on the ocean, we enjoyed listening to the ocean and experiencing beautiful ocean breezes every day. An additional bonus was the turtle beach located right next door…so worth seeing. Connie & Joe, owners of this condo, could not have been more accommodating or responsive. The description of the unit we stayed in is pretty much bang on, it certainly is a "piece of paradise". The unit is situated in a prime location. For the price we paid I have few recommendations; The surface cleaning was done just fine, however I feel it's time for a thorough deep clean (carpets, drawers, dusting) and a fresh paint job would do wonders for the place. An updated binder is required as it's not applicable with the existing tv remotes, as we had issues. A new set of towels would be great, (no longer white) in one of the bathrooms and limited face cloths. The cutlery/dishes/pots and pans/ bowls etc were plentiful, a new can opener would be good.
The layout of the condo is very comfortable, as stated in the online listing the cabinetry and counter tops are beautiful, appliances all worked and the lanai was wonderful with an amazing view.

This upstairs unit has a wonderful ocean view and is equipped with so many amenities. Close to the pool and the laundry facilities are great to have on site. Beds are very comfortable and we love hearing the ocean breeze at night! We will be back.

We loved our stay at turtle condo. We adventured out for fun days of snorkeling at nearby beaches, but also felt very lucky to sit on the lanai in the morning and evening with a pair of binoculars watching turtles and whales. This was a great place to stay. Make sure to walk down to the waterfront and follow the path to the right of the property to the little beach if you want to see sea turtles basking in the sun. This rental was perfect for our family. It was comfortable and fit us well. Its slightly dated, but honestly with the kids I was more comfortable than I would have been with everything fancy. It was simple and beachy and had a nice feel. It was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Our family of 5 spent a week in this unit. It was very clean upon arrival. The view from the lanai is INCREDIBLE. The whales were very active and we all had a great time pointing them out. Seating was ample on both the sectional and the dining table. We were even able to pull a 5th chair out on the lanai to eat dinner together overlooking the ocean. On 4 of the days, we had double-digit number of turtles come up on the beach next door. So cool! Only reasons for not giving the 5th star are that the beds are uncomfortably firm. My wife woke up sore most mornings. Also the drain in the main bathroom sink and the shower in the upstairs bath was really slow to drain. Needs some draino or something. Outstanding overall and we would definitely pick this one again in the future.

The property is in a nice location. Excellent view of the ocean and spend the day just watching whale activity. The pool is also heated (for real) which I have stayed in other resorts with "heated" pools but they're not as heated as this. Great interaction with staff - they're all very friendly and accommodating.
