Great comfy condo with all the amenities that we required. Beautiful evening sunsets and the turtles came to the outer ocean wall nightly. Although the unit has no AC we never felt hot with the tropical breeze, ceiling fans and one portable fan. Highly recommend this unit for 2 people.

This place was the perfect spot for us. As stated in the description, it is not a 5 star resort. But what it is, is a great condo in a fantanstic location, with amazing views, where you can feel at home. Oh, and turtle sightings from the deck!! The owner gets super kudos for responsiveness and making sure that you have everything you need. In short, we loved our stay here and would recommend it to others who are looking for this kind of experience.

Nice complex with ocean front though ground floor view is partially blocked. The grounds are well kept as is the swimming pool. Note that the pool area has no shade at all; no umbrellas.
The condo itself is standard and the kitchen was well equipped. I have to say that the photos online don’t represent how the condo is currently furnished. There is a lot of clutter on tables, walls and counters. Less is more in my opinion.
The unit backs up to the parking lot, through street and homes and can get very noisy at night when you are home. But the area in general is charming and is close to great snorkeling and sandy beaches.

We certainly enjoyed our time at this property. A little concerned that it did not have air conditioning, but the morning/evening breeze would cool it down nicely. Wish we could have enjoyed the nice pool and grounds more, but the sun did not cooperate!

My husband and I got married in 2020 we never got to do a honeymoon but my father gifted us to go to Maui to experience our honeymoon and we chose this place to stay which I loved so homey and to wake up to the ocean right outside of our balcony was amazing

This unit had a view of the ocean along with the sounds. It needs some updates and also could use comfort items. We found it rather dreary. The neighborhood is mixed, you can walk to dining options and a beach park but the closest good swimming is a drive. The complex is well maintained however it is very dated and weary. I would not stay here again although I suppose it's a pretty good value for Maui unfortunately.

We love staying in the Honukawai area and this was our first time in this particular property. The location is excellent for accessing all the West Maui beaches. We love walking to the local Farmers Market - just a 10 min walk. The property was super quiet the whole time we were here. Kristin, the owner, was very helpful and excellent in the quickness of her responses. The condo is older and small but for the 2 of us it was fine and had everything we needed. The pool area is lovely as are the grounds. There is no sandy beach to access from this property but it does have excellent ocean views and you can hear it from your lanai. The only negative for the condo would be that it could use a good deep cleaning as under the bed by the headboard was quite dirty with a dead beetle (I had to reach under the bed to retrieve the plug-in bar as the outlets on the wall dont work). Other than that we enjoyed our stay and the property! Thank you Kristin!

Nice property with a great location, view and lanai. Enjoyed turtle spotting and snorkeling directly from property. Quiet and relaxing environment, though when air movement slows, or effectively ceases it can quickly get a little, 'stuffy' (which it did on a couple of days during our stay). Overall very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Now here are a few things that I could suggest.
There really need to be an AC unit in the main room. The AC unit in the small bedroom needs to be replaced because it puts out very little cool air. The AC machine in master is good.

The Hale Ona Loa has fabulous grounds. We enjoy watching the whales each morning on the raised sundeck. The condo was small but the price was great. It had all the beach gear that was needed.

We have been coming to Maui for many years and have previously enjoyed staying at Hale Ono Loa. The location is wonderful for exploring the west side of the island and has convenient grocery shopping and restaurants. It’s a short drive to Whalers Village or Kapalua and there is a bus stop a five minute walk away. This particular unit was even more than we expected. To begin with, the view is spectacular! Sunrise, sunset and any time in between, the lanai begs you just to sit, breathe, and take it all in! The condo’s interior is comfortable and beautifully decorated. It’s kitchen has all you would need to prepare your own meals if you choose to do so. The host was exceptional. He provided clear directions for checking in and offered good advice for an enjoyable visit. Communication rates an A+

Nice comfortable 1-bedroom condo with a view of the pool. Just a few steps away from the ocean. The condo was clean and had all the dishes and cookware needed to cook your own meals. We had 3 lovely days in your condo! We found the condo to be exceptionally clean and fully stocked with everything we might need. We loved watching the whales from the sun deck and were greeted with a beautiful rainbow on our last morning. My only negatives were the difficulty printing a parking permit as we had been on a different part of the island prior to our stay here. There was also some street noise from construction trucks and blaring radios…nothing that the condo owner could control. The lack of AC was not as issue as the breezes were delightful. We would return here again!

My son and I stayed here for 9 days. We had the best time. Perfect place for us. Having the pool right there was excellent. We got to see whales and a spectacular rainbow from the large deck all guests have access to.
It was very close to grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants and shops. We rented a car and would suggest doing so. We were close to so many beaches and activities.
We had a very long travel day and my son was too tired to stop and get a few things for the morning so we went directly to the condo. In the morning I could not have been more grateful for the coffee and tea that I found in the cupboard. Having a few basic things already there was so nice.
Communication was great. I loved sitting out on the lanai sipping coffee. It is a beautiful spot.
In reference to other reviews.. I saw literally one mosquito as the only bug and that is because I left the doors to the lanai open right after a rain. We did get lots of bird visitors and saw a tiny lizard. There was one day you could hear the groundskeeping crew. Motors of lawnmowers, leaf blowers etc. It was not intrusive at all. And the grounds were kept very clean. Noise was not an issue at all.
I would 100% stay here again. Perfect location, perfect spot. Had lots of extras I wasn’t expecting that I did end up using: snorkel equipment, beach chairs, cooler, beach towels. Helped make our stay that much better.

We had a very relaxing month in Wendy's condo. Rained a lot this time but Hawaii rain is still nicer than home. Unfortunately we picked the west side this trip because the last 3 we stayed in Kihei yet drove to Lahaina 8 times, so this time figured let's stay near there. Then came the fires 11 months after we booked. Everything about the condo was fine, I just wish the neighbour wouldn't have walked past our bedroom window every morning at 5:15 am hawking and spitting right outside. Woke me every day. Wendy is a wonderful host, even though we had no problems I knew if we did she was there. (one small problem with the tv setup, she answered me right away and figured it out)
We didn't like the Keurig so we bought a coffee maker and left it behind for others to enjoy.

It is one of the best locations in west maui specially with family. We needed a kitchen due to out food preferences and we were able to enjoy every moment of our stay. We will go with this again if we visit.

Aloha. Awesome condo! Great location! Quiet with a beautiful view! Sunsets are amazing! Complete with their resident conch shell blower. Life doesn’t get any better!
Kitchen is well appointed. Lots of dishes and pots/pans to choose from. King bed is very comfortable. Shower is great lots of hot water. Two brand new Weber bbqs that we used every night. Laundry is next door, hardly used, very convenient with lots of good books to borrow. There is no air conditioning but not a problem. Ceiling fans in every room and trade winds keep the condo at a nice temperature. The wrought iron bistro set (lania furniture) could be upgraded to something more comfortable and sturdier.
Saw lots of whales from the lania. Bring your binoculars. And tons of turtles on the shore line looking off the deck.
We stayed for 5 weeks. When I asked about cleaning supplies Kristin purchased a stick vacuum and a mop and pail to help me keep place clean from the red dust. So appreciated that. I like to keep a clean house even on holidays lol.
Kristin was awesome to deal with. Very attentive to our needs. Mahalo.

Unit was advertised as on the ocean with ocean views. It was a bottom floor unit with NO view at all except the pool. Did't know that we had to supply our own toilet tissue, outrageous, also no AC. Host was very hard to contact, never could contact owner, and manager was extremely hard to contact as host gave us 3 wrong numbers and his information was not given correctly in the information guide. VRBO does not even have the correct contact numbers. If your service is too big to handle the small things like checking views, then we're wasting our time with you.

This was our third stay at this condo and it has become my happy place. The view is exceptional, the location is perfect, the grounds are beautiful, the kitchen is stocked with every cooking utensil you would need, the bed and furniture is comfortable, the laundry facilities are great, and the whale and turtle viewing can’t be beat. My only complaint this time was people playing music at the pool, sometimes more than one group. I just wish people would use headphones since maybe we all don’t want to hear your music.

We stayed at this location for 8 nights. The location was perfect for us. Everything you read about it is true and not exaggerated. Close to everything we wanted to do. Less than 5 min to a grocery. The place itself is very clean and well decorated. Plenty of space to keep the place organized. We felt right at home. We had everything we needed for our beach visits, from cooler to beach chairs and towels. Bed was particularly comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need also. The view from the balcony is the BIG plus. We left the window open at nights so we could hear the ocean. Having breakfast on the balcony and watching the whales was awesome. We are so glad to find this piece of heaven.

This is a lovely property. We have been visiting the island of Maui for the past 16 years. The property is centrally located for the west side. It’s a little different without Lahaina town but things are slowly returning. It is updated and comfortably furnished. The lanai has a lovely lookout over the ocean and the swimming pool. It has comfortable outside seating. It is equipped with pretty much everything you will need for your stay. Beach and snorkeling equipment are there for your use together with a cooler for your beach activities. We stay for an extended time, so do some cooking at home. The kitchen is well equipped with most everything you will need. We very much enjoyed our stay, and will definitely be returning.

We decided to stay in West Maui to spread some tourist dollars in the area. We had lived on Oahu years ago and hadn't been back to Maui since moving back to Seattle. Our host provided all kinds of info on local places to eat and shop, and we used many of them with much satisfaction.
This is a quiet top/4th floor unit that looks right out onto the island of Lanai. The area is fairly quiet, unlike the crazy hubbub of Kihei. Of course, there are numerous tourists in various condos, but also permanent residents and locals eating and shopping in the area. The unit is in an older condo development, but it is comfortable, well furnished, has all the conveniences, and every small appliance imaginable.
Just one detraction for us was the TV system, Vizio. It takes a few minutes to load up and, and in spite of "emergency" instruction from our host, we were never able to get live TV, only streaming. We limped along with Prime but were still happy in our comfy condo (great bed!) in several days of severe wind advisories that kept our toes out of both the Pacific and the pool. Thanks to Steve, our host, for the relaxing 6 days!
Note: Many Lahaina businesses remain open, such as Safeway and ABC.
