This property was a comfortable, well equipped location for our vacation. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, a closet full of chairs and pool toys and umbrellas for the beach on which it is located. A minor plumbing issue with one shower was promptly addressed by the owner.

Our favorite thing was the view from the room! It looks down on the beautiful grounds and pool AND you can see the ocean! The property itself was so fun for the kids and adults. Little trails through the jungle landscape for the kids to explore and the bar served the BEST Mai Thais we have had so far! The room had everything we could need for a 10 day stay in Maui. We were also pleasantly surprised with comfortable beds and the closet full of beach toys, chairs and snorkel gear. We would definitely come back!!

My family of 5 (myself, husband and 3 children (20, 18, 13)) stayed here for 8 nights. We were pleasantly surprised with both the condo and the resort. After months/years of planning and saving for our likely once in a lifetime trip it is a scary thought that our home for 8 nights after a 12 hour flight would not be as nice as we had dreamed. As soon as we opened the door my fears were gone. The condo had plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. My 13 year old slept on the day bed in the master bedroom and she loved her little spot. The kitchen had everything we needed including extras (ice packs in the freezer to use in the cooler from the “extras” closet for day trips). The “extras” closet was amazing...beach chairs, scuba gear, goggles, boogie board, sand mats, umbrellas, sleeping bags, sand/beach toys, cooler. We enjoyed the pools and the beach at the resort. Right across the street is a grocery store and a few stores. There is also a food truck court right next door. If we ever make it back to Maui this is exactly where we will stay!

This condo at Kaanapali Shores has everything you need. The kitchen is well-appointed. The linens and towels are abundant. The 'extras' closet has everything you need for your beach days. A/C, Cable TV, dual balconies, nice bathrooms, ocean view.....check. The location is great too, plenty of things to do within walking distance, and everything else you might want to do is a short drive (Lahaina, Kapalua, etc.) Don't miss out on the Kaanapali Beach Pathway which starts just a quarter mile south at the Honua Kai Resort and takes you all the way to Black Rock (about 2 miles or so). -ER

General Comments: We (family of 5) stayed here Christmas 2018 - New Years 2019. The pictures and description in the listing are all accurate; the views from above the pool are from this actual unit. You can also see the ocean but it is in the distance. The lobby, pool, tennis courts, and all other on site amenities are well maintained (the lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas). Staff was friendly. We paid a high $ premium (~2X) due to booking late (very few similar properties were available). Room: Kitchen was recently renovated and was equipped with everything we needed for cooking. Laundry in room was a small combo-unit but met our needs. Bedrooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were clean with recent upgrades. Overall, the room was clean when we arrived but a few minor things gave it a feeling of being less clean / more run-down than is actually is. These include; dirt around the HVAC vents, dirt around all the electrical switches and outlets, dirt on the ceiling, a broken garbage can pull-out, chipped paint / no latch-plate on the main entry door. These are the types of things you overlook in your own home but they become a lot more noticeable when you are paying $$$$/night. Nearby Activities: The property is in the middle of a large chain of condos / hotels. There is no real "beach" attached to the property, as it is mostly a rocky shore but a very short walk brings you to a sandy beach in front of the adjacent property and a couple block walk brings you to a 3 mile boardwalk (lots of walkers and runners) that runs along a long sandy beach behind the chain of condos / hotels. There are a number of restaurants along the way and shopping in Whaler's Village (about 2.5 miles). The on-site pools / hot tubs are great. They are lighted at night and have palm trees and other planting all around (see pictures). There is a closet in the room that is filled with sports equipment (tennis rackets, boogie boards, snorkels/flippers, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, etc.). There are stores right across the street including a grocery store, Subway, a great pizza / ice cream place. There was a small farmers market about a block away. Overall: Even though we paid more than we should have due to late booking, we were pleased and would consider renting this place again.

We were very disappointed in our stay, especially after having stayed in a much nicer, and less expensive condo in Wailea. The condo was not clean, and was generally dark and run down. Examples of the lack of cleanliness, the comforter cover was missing from our children’s room, leaving only the stained comforter. The carpet had not been vacuumed before our arrival, as we found dry pasta in the kids bedroom. When I notified the owner, he said he was aware the covers were out being cleaned and apologized that we would not be getting replacements during our stay. A number of items were not in good working order, such as the sliding door to the lanai, and the pull-out garbage in the kitchen. The kitchen cabinets were either locked, or filled with unuseful items (decorative cans), while only 6 bowls were supplied. So we were constantly washing our bowls after each meal. Also, the condo building itself is old, and looks run down. It is noisy, with sound coming through the wall of people running around upstairs. I will never again rent for someone who tells me they will be “out of the country’ while I use their place, as they made it appear they couldn’t do anything to correct the cleanliness. The location is also not very good as there is hardly any beachfront to this condo, therefore no place to take a walk without having to go out to the highway. The only saving grace of this place is the pool, which lights up at night.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
