Our stay was significantly different than anyone else that has reviewed this property. We had 2 nights and 1 full day on property before we were displaced due to the west Maui wildfires. The owners were incredibly communicative before and during our time in Maui. When we checked in, we found that the condo was extremely clean with new and very comfortable furniture, beds/mattresses and outdoor patio furniture. New carpet in bedrooms and new linens/towels. The kitchen appliances were all excellent and we had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare and cook meals. The condo itself was very comfortable. The resort was lovely-beautiful pools, grounds and beach. This unit was close to everything at the resort but there was also some privacy which was nice. Everyone at the resort was pleasant and helpful. Prior reviews stated loud construction. There was construction while we were there but it did not affect us and the lanai was open and available (also brand new- with new furniture). On the day of the tragic wildfire we were off resort hiking and could not get back into the area. The owners were extremely communicative, responsive, helpful and kind. We would absolutely stay at this property again if we had the chance. We cannot say enough about the owners communication and helpfulness before our check in and absolutely during the remainder of the week when we were displaced before we were evacuated off the island.

We were very excited about our trip to Maui. Our daughters had never been before and they were so happy to go to Maui. The condo is very nice and there was a lot of room…washer, dryer, lots of towels, plenty of kitchen items to cook and eat there. The big issue was the construction that went on everyday we were there from 9-5pm. My husband likes to nap in the afternoon and it was impossible with the noise. We had an ocean view, but could not access the balcony so we could enjoy it. Fortunately we were in Hawaii so we had planned to enjoy the pool, beach, and all the sights, but it was hard to enjoy the condo during the day. We spent a lot of money on the condo and didn’t even get a refund for one full night. Very disappointing. If we had know the construction was happening we would have stayed somewhere else. It would be nice to communicate this for future renters.

We book rentals with VRBO often and our experience was BY FAR the worst experience we've ever had.
After a long day traveling to Maui, we arrived a little early, so contacted the property owner, hoping we might be able to get in an hour or so prior to the 4p check in time. That wasn’t possible, as the cleaners needed all of that time to clean and prepare the rental for the next users (us.) Understandable.
We finally get into our rental and the first place I went was the master bathroom. The toilet had diarrhea splattered all over it & there was no shower curtain.
Getting settled in, we opened the curtains to the lanai, only to find a sign telling us that it was closed and was taped off. One of the main reasons we chose this rental was for the ocean view from the lanai for our mother who has issues getting around. This was suppose to be a dream come true for her.
They also neglected to tell us that there was major renovations occurring at the facility. Heavy equipment, lots of loud drilling and banging going on … ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. And I do have pics and video to back up all of my claims.
There were cockroaches, yes alive, in the kitchen. The last one I saw was in the silverware drawer.
The ultimate kicker ….. when I contacted the owner to address the issues, they sent me a $300 refund for the inconvenience. THAT IS INSULTING, at best.
This was disappointing. I’ve stayed at Honua Kai 2 previous times and will go back there from now on.

I can't say enough about the location and the resort. Maui has to be the most relaxing and beautiful place I have ever been. We could go snorkeling at any beach we went to, and each time we went we saw an abundance of colorful fish, turtles, eels and even spotted an octopus. If the beach isn't your thing then just turn around and you'll see the awesome scenery of mountain ridges that are full of hiking trails and waterfalls. The resort was just as impressive. There were two swimming pools, one with beautiful plants and water features that families with children were enjoying, and one right next to the beach and with an awesome view of the neighboring islands that was breathtaking at sunset. The staff at the resort were extremely pleasant, helpful and very knowledgeable if you needed info for activities outside the resort. I will say I was a little disappointed with a few things about the appartment we stayed in. The resort was in the process of replacing several of the balconies so the days were full of construction noise, but it really wasn't a problem since our plans kept us outside the majority of our time there. What truly was unfortunate was the place had roaches. We contacted the owners who did get someone to come spray rather quickly. I don't blame the owners for the roaches. I'm willing to bet they came from a neighboring apartment since the place was clean and no food is stored there. I would definitely stay there again. Once the roaches move out.

Construction noise not revealed, they said the washer/dryer didn’t work, but they didn’t mention that the dishwasher didn’t work, the cold water in master bath was shut off, certain outlets didn’t work, there were 3 hair dryers in the unit but only 1 worked, outdated furniture was very uncomfortable, and there are cockroaches in the unit! Now if I owned this unit and it isn’t maintained, I would find a new management company to oversee my unit, we will not be using this condo again!

The unit was clean and the property manager was responsive. The unit is set farther back from the ocean than the pictures show, but had a nice view. Note that the unit is immediately above a parking lot that is used by many service vehicles and trucks. There was a lot of noise from this.
As the other reviewer‘s noted, the furniture in this unit is terribly uncomfortable (both inside and out) and needs to be replaced. The bedding in the master bedroom does not fit appropriately and required us to remake the bed every morning. The beach chairs and umbrellas are not in working condition (but easily rented from the resort). While this unit seems to be significantly less expensive than similar units, I would not rent again due to the noise and serious lack of comfort in the furnishings.

The family trip was excellent. We were in the perfect location in Maui near great shopping and great restaurants, and most importantly the beach. The resort had all the amenities of any big resort. The unit was the perfect size for our family of five. Enough beds and space for everyone. Maui was great and. I highly recommend getting out and hitting the town and the beach daily.
Our communication with the owners was very good. They were very responsive to our needs and made us feel like they care about each guest that stays in their home. We had a few requests and they were very accommodating and helped us feel comfortable while on vacation.
We would highly recommend Hawaii and this home in Maui for your families vacation.

This condo did not match the listing description or pictures. Springs in couch are gone and additional chair is too hard to sit in comfortably. Glass in kitchen table has been replaced but is not level with the table so dishes sit uneven on the table and rock back and forth when eating. Sheets and mattress cover did not fit king bed properly and all bedding is worn. No extra blankets available. Pull out couch had two fitted sheets and no pillows. Pillows are flat and hard in bedrooms. Dishwasher does not work. Washer only works if the breaker is reset. Shower liners are moldy. Kitchen pots and pans are in poor shape. Stayed for three weeks with no mid stay cleaning service but paid cleaning fees. Building in general needs work as it is very tired looking including the grounds. No beach in front is a deterrent to stay there again. This is not an inclusive feeling property. Aston not willing to provide service to private renters including the refusal to allow us to use a luggage cart to get our luggage and groceries to the unit. Would not rent this unit or stay at the property again.

We found empty bottles under the bed. The glass doors were not clean with hand prints all over. Dirt and dust on the floors. Something black in back of the couch. Bathroom tubs dirty. Was told to contact housekeeping but when they called back we were not available. Put up with the issues to enjoy our vacation on not deal with the problems.

Clean, simple condo in a great location close to all of the West Maui eats/excursions. The furniture was a little dated/used appearance but the beds were comfortable and kitchen was clean. They provided starter laundry/shampoo/soap/lotions which was great. They also had a closet with boards/beach gear to use. The resort was nice with a great pool. The beach is a little small, but great spot to go in the water and watch the beautiful sunset every evening.
Central air kept the condo nice and cool. The elevator was a great plus for 7th floor condo.

We enjoyed staying in this condo very much with our two teens 14 and 16. Everything was clean and there were plenty of dishes etc. The only downside we’re the beds and pillows. They were so hard and the pillows were as well. Otherwise we enjoyed Kaanapali Shores very much!

Everything was as described. Property is beautiful and the condo is also fantastic. We sat on the porch every morning and had coffee. One thing, if you need strong internet for work and for anything else it is pretty spotty. Otherwise everything was perfect.

We had a great time staying in this condo and on this resort. It was clean, fun, beautiful view, great pools and in an awesome location. A huge bonus for our family with smaller kids were the beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear and binoculars that were in the closet for us to use. It was so great to not have to go on a search for that stuff. We would definitely stay again, thank you!!

We completed our Rental process online completely, and the check-in procedure was super easy. Staff at this location we're off the charts friendly. I will have to say the on property restaurant was surprisingly good and the pool area is immaculate and very cool. Is just okay, but a very short drive up the road is Slaughterhouse Beach which is excellent. The overall proximity to everything Maui was really good. We will come back to this location and request the same unit. Looking at also came with three Boogie boards, a beach umbrella and a small soft side cooler which had a stuck zipper. In the kitchen was properly equipped and we did do breakfast in the mornings.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in #716 at Aston Kaanapali Shores. The condo is clean, well appointed, and in a great location! We loved watching whales from the windows when we woke up. Both bedrooms and the patio windows face the channel. The grocery store across the street was very convenient, and we enjoyed the food trucks just outside the property and the shave ice as well. Be advised that there is no longer a beach in front of the lower pool, however.

The biggest mistake I made with booking this property was spoiling my family by staying at Honua Kai multiple times prior to our stay here. It is a nice place and my standards must be lower than theirs since it seemed like a perfectly fine place to me. The pictures were accurate, but the place felt a little smaller than the pictures portray. There were a few broken or maintenance issues that needed to be addressed, but I found if you need anything during your stay, use the VRBO message app, and the owner is extremely responsive. The view is outstanding and I spend most of my time while vacationing on Maui on the lanai. The furniture and beds could use some updating as the cushions are pretty worn down on the couch and living room chair. In our family, some run warm and some run cold in respect to interior temperature. That being said, we definitely could've used some blankets for the beds. They did not have any in the unit. If you have someone who runs on the cooler side, I would recommend picking up some blankets at WalMart before you head to the condo. For those with small children, there are plenty of beach toys and two Boogie boards. They also have 5 chairs, but unfortunately they are not the Tommy Bahama comfortable chairs we enjoyed at other properties. They are lower seat chairs that were uncomfortable even for our kids since once you sit down, you are pretty much sitting on the sand. There is plenty of cookware and I cooked multiple meals in the kitchen for a family of 6. There was a noticeable musty smell in the condo, but it didn't bother me as much as rest of my family. Bottom line, this place is a great value for the money. The biggest inconveniences we encountered, we overcame by buying blankets, a couple of better pillows, and rented some better chairs and snorkel gear. The location and view are great, pool by the beach nice, everyone we met around the property was friendly, and the condo is nice, but make sure you set realistic expectations for you and your family that the condo is a 3.5 star accommodation, not a 5 star. If you do that, you will no doubt have a fantastic time.

This condo has a great location and was very comfortable for a family of 5 (adults and teens). Views were spectacular and the resort was well maintained (although it could use some updating). Beach is small but Kaanapali Beach is only 5 minutes down the road. Only recommendations is to add extra pillows and blankets for the beds and pull out sofa. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything worked out well with this property. The property management company was very responsive. It was me, my husband and our 2 year old. We did have an ocean view but it wasn’t right on the ocean, set back a bit with a parking lot in front of it. The beach right in front of the property was not the best for swimming. Very short and rocky but a decent beach is a short walk. We loved our time in paradise and this fit our needs.

Property is all that is advertised. A little outdated (bedding) but clean and neat with all you will need for a condo vacation. The beach is small but nice, pools were nice and could always find a chair. The condo has a closet full of beach stuff (chairs, umbrellas, buckets/shovels, boogie boards). Made it very nice to spend the day at the beach with all of that equipment. Little strip mall in walking distance across the street with a grocery store, nail salon, pizza, ice cream, etc. at the end of the mall is Slappy Cakes a great breakfast spot. Food trucks are right next door open every night. Very convenient. The Aston itself has 3 convenience/gift/shopping stores onsite. Couldn’t get in to the restaurant so I can’t comment on it but the views are of the ocean so book reservations early.

This condo was a nice home base for our Maui adventure. We spent most of our time away from the resort, but it was nice coming back to this unit at night. The views from the lanai's were very nice, and the grounds of the resort were very pretty (especially the garden pool area). Ka'anapali beach was a short drive away, and it was wonderful (park at Whaler's Village). Having two bathrooms in the condo was a nice plus as well. Check-in to get our parking pass and pool towels was a convenient process. We felt treated just like a resort guest would be. The concierge for the resort even helped set us set up our biking down Haleakala trip. Overall, I would recommend this place to others looking for a nice home base on the west side of Maui.

Upon arrival, the condo was exceptionally clean. We found, during our stay, that it was very well equipped and was a very comfortable place to stay. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we were happy to have beach chairs to use. Beds were very comfortable. We will recommend this place to friends.

it's not always you immediately feel 'at home' when traveling, but on arriving at Ka'anapali Shores, and specifically Michael Lin's apartment, it was easy to fit right in.
My niece and nephew were so comfortable, it was hard to get them out of the apartment to go to the beach.
The view was wonderful.. high enough to enjoy the vast ocean.
Clean, everything you need available.. comfortable, but most of all, our host was very helpful and responsive with any and all of our questions.
ps: Sorry for this late review… but I'd wanted to make sure the feeling stayed with me…. and it does.

We stayed at Kaanapali Shores for the first time about 30 years ago. It was like coming full circle. It was wonderful to be back and this condo was excellent. Very clean, had all the amenities we needed. Michael, the owner, is very responsive and helpful. We just returned home yesterday after 10 days in this beautiful unit. I found this unit through VRBO and my travel agent as a surprise 50th birthday trip for my husband. Neither of us had ever been to Hawaii and Mike was more than helpful up front with all of my questions and offered up ideas. The surprise went off without a hitch. My husband and kids especially loved the unit. It was wonderful to find sand toys, beach chairs, an umbrella, fins and a boogie board in the front closet. The unit has obviously been renovated and was beautiful with new appliances. We had no issues with storage whatsoever and there was plenty of room in each of the bathrooms for storing items. The air conditioning was wonderful (friends who joined us rented at a different complex and AC was not in their unit), everything worked well, and the kitchen was fully stocked. And, there were plenty of places to sit between the kitchen table and the bar stools at the counter. I will definitely rent from Mike again, and there will definitely be another time :) The resort itself was also beautiful. We spent a lot of time at the pools and even tried out the shuffle board and tennis courts. On a side note, Zipline Maui, the Atlantis Submarine experience and the Pacific Whale Snorkeling cruise were wonderful, and were recommended and arranged by the Expedia staff in the lobby of the resort.

Thank you Mike and Gina for letting us rent your condo. We had a fantastic stay. The view from the Lanai was beautiful. The condo is well located with a super market and restaurants across the street. Slappy cakes is a must stop if you have kids. The kitchen is well stock and love the built-in night lights in the bathrooms and hallway. Beds are comfy, although we would have preferred 2 twin beds in the 2nd bedroom for our 2 kids. The dining table looked brand new and loved the detailed carvings. We kept the windows slightly open and loved listening to the ocean waves at night. The inside pool was amazing for the kids. They love playing in the waterfall. We will definitely rent this condo again.

We rented this unit for 3 nights in March, 2016. This was one of the few condos in the Kaanapali Beach area which did not require a longer stay. We had stayed in another 2 bdrm unit rented through the Aston Kaanapali Shores (AKS) main office last year and this VRBO unit had substantially lower rent. However, except for the recently remodeled kitchen, this VRBO unit as definitely less well-maintained and furnished. Nevertheless our stay at this unit was satisfactory overall for our group of 4 adults and 1 toddler. It's a good choice if you're on a budget or want a short term stay. AKS is a very nice property with beautiful landscaping, on the beach, and great pools for adults, teens, and toddlers.
Good points of this unit: Condo was clean. Nice couch & arm chair, comfy king-sized beds. Newer well-equipped kitchen. 3 TVs. Partial ocean view. Beach chairs & umbrella provided. Tile in living, dining, & hallways which is easier to clean but not as comfortable as carpets. Plenty of towels available for room, pool, & beach. We were allowed to check out at 3 PM on our day of departure since no one was renting the unit that evening.
Bad points: Located on the windy side of the complex. Drafts of air blew into the room through the sliding door and into the small bedroom through the closed window. Dining table & chairs worn out. Folding chairs must be used by 5 & 6th persons. No daily maid service. Maid service & maintenance provided by outside agency which closes at 4 PM. We had to wait until the next day after check in to clear a clogged bathroom sink and replace a burnt out kitchen light. Bedroom closets were half filled with furniture, minimizing space for hanging clothes and storing luggage. Light blocking curtains in the smaller bedroom had many holes in them.
The baseboards along the lower walls in the living & dining rooms and hallway were missing.
Some of the doors and doorjambs were chipped and worn. Some of the walls had smudges and chipped paint. The bathroom off the hallway had a single, older cabinet with minimal storage space for toiletries. Movie DVDs in the main lobby are not available to units managed by owners. Security deposit refund may require waiting up to a month.

Our stay at this lovely condo was a wonderful get away! It is very well kept, beautifully decorated, a view to die for, well stocked with everything you will need, and more! We even had a colorful rainbow to enjoy from the lanai! Everyone at the resort was hositable and the food was delicious! Loved the pool area which we enjoyed every day!The location was close to everything, quiet, and easy to get around. The owners were very accomodating and a pleasure to work with. They got back to us right away and went out of their way to accomodate our needs.Thank you for letting us vacation with you! We will be back! Mahala and Aloha!!!

This condo in Kannapali Shores was clean and spacious. It was very central to many activities and shopping. Michael, the owner, was very prompt in answering my calls and emails. The unit had keyless entry which was a real plus. I would not hesitate renting from him again.

This is a great condo overlooking the channel between Maui and Molokai. We loved the view of the ocean. There is also a good view of the hills and Mountain looking North. Condo is nice and modern and clean. And the air conditioning works. King beds in both bedrooms. The condo complex has stores for food, beer, wine and liquor, sunscreen etc. Another store for clothing, hats and Hawaiian shirts. There are 2 pools, the garden pool will be completed in December 2015. It will be spectacular. The main pool is great. There is a restaurant and bar with poolside service. They offer free introduction to scuba lessons in the pool. Access to the beach is right next to the pool. Get there early to get a lounge chair under the tree!
All in all a great place to stay. With all the amenities its a tremendous value. The owners are very easy to work with and very accommodating. Thanks Gina and Michael. We would definitely stay here again.

This was an absolutely beautiful unit to stay in. Very clean, well kept, and comfy beds. Had great breeze from the ocean, with a beautiful view. Nice pool at the complex and the dining at condo was very good. Good location-not very busy, touristy but close enough to drive to those areas. Unfortunately the beach was very small-it had something to do with weather which was unusual. The property owners were very nice and easy to work with. I would definitely stay here again!!!

Everything worked out perfect. The owners are professional and nice. The condo is in good condition and updated. We travelled with another couple & were quite comfortable. There was plenty of room at the pool but not much at the beach.
The location is pretty good. I'd guesstimate that its a 30-45 min walk to the shops & restaurants in kaanapali. There are a few shops and casual restaurants just a 5 min walk to the north though as well. I didn't find these till the last day which was a bummer. The supermarket right across the street is really a great convenience & the prices were reasonable.
I was worried about sending off a check to a stranger & that everything was legitimate but it worked out perfectly. The instructions are spot on. We also received our deposit within a couple weeks after check out.

Condo was easy to set up and make payment. Instructions from owner were spot on, no surprises. The location is fanatastic for multiple reasons:
1. on the West side of the island
2. on the beach, so taking the kids right down to the beach in early morning was a huge plus.
3. 2 pools if needed.
4. a local park right around the corner in walking distant.
5. having a kitchen is what we needed, being able to walk to the market was a great added plus.
6. the staff was excellent, if you needed anything, they were more than happy to help. In fact, Sam the valet even gave us additional beach supplies, even though the unit already supplied them.
7. the unit is updated, clean, washer/dryer, everything we needed.
8. definitely better than staying at a normal hotel, this place was like a resort.
Will be coming back for years to come.

We loved the condo, Kaanapali Shores resort and the great view from the lanai! The condo was very clean and well appointed - exceeding our expectations. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and provided excellent service all the way through the process. Our family of four including 2 teenage children had a wonderful time and especially enjoyed the many great snorkeling locations close by. The condo location is a nice home base for the many activities, shopping, restaurants, farmers markets, all within walking distance or a short drive. A great vacation at Kaanapali Shores and would definitely choose this condo again!

We stayed for 10 nights and had a great time. The unit was very comfortable and spacious for our family. We loved the breeze that flowed through day & night. Watching the whales frolic from the balcony was a plus. Great location with shopping across the street. The breakfast at the resort restaurant was very good!

Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing vacation. Very good value in comparison with similar properties in North Ka'anapali. Amazing view from the lanai and front bedroom. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and very accommodating. The unit provided all the comforts of home and it more than met our needs even though it's starting to show it's age a bit. Highly recommend walking down the boardwalk or driving up the coast for better beaches. No hesitation to recommend this unit to others looking for a relaxing getaway.

We spent 8 nights at this condo and enjoyed it tremendously. It was very spacious with lots of room for our family of four. The pictures and description were accurate and we had no issues of any kind. The owner was very professional and our security deposit was refunded promptly after our stay. We would certainly stay here again if we go back to Maui.

We had a great time and enjoyed staying in the Condo. It was accurately reflected in the photos and was clean and well-maintained. It easily accommodated four adults. The ocean view from the lanai was enjoyable, relaxing, and quiet. With a grocery store across the street, activities, rental cars, and bus transportation nearby, it was very centrally located. The resort atmosphere with the beach, pool, hot tub, and restaurant on site were great amenities. Overall a great location. We would definitely visit again.

We had a great time at this condo! It was exactly as advertised, with a beautiful view of Molokai. It was clean and we had no problems with six people (four adults, two children) staying there. We were able to use the resort facilities, including towels, and there were boogie boards and sand toys in the unit. Having a grocery store across the street was also a plus, since we ate in a fair amount. As a minor recommendation, they could probably use more spoons, but otherwise it was perfect for a relaxing get away.
