Our overall impression. Gather was all about take your money and run. They were more than happy to send out emails when payments were due, but failed to reply to emails, text messages, and voice mails once we arrived. Here is an abbreviated list of the issues we asked to have addressed when we arrived.1) wifi login and password were incorrect.2) Water in master bath3) The door to the second bedroom doesn't close. 4) We had issues with Spectrum cable and the remote controls. We ended up using a laptop to stream programs.5) The dryer - it took over 2 hours to dry a few towels - which we had to do daily.6) The control knobs on the stove are missing the labeling. We had to guess which knob when with which burner. This is a safety issue and should be addressed immediately. We have stayed at VRBO properties across the country and this is one of the few that didn't have a "Welcome / Imformation Book". A simple guide to the property that would assist the guest with some basic information, like the wifi login, guide to the use of the TV, warning about the monthy emergency sirens, local restaurants and activies, etc.

Our stay was incredible! We loved the spacious accommodations, fully equipped living spaces and kitchen. We loved the location and how close it was to the beach. If you love waking up, sitting on the lanai and watching the sunset - this place is for you. The rental instructions made it possible for us to really enjoy the local areas and also get acclimated to island including excursions and other activities and things to do on our vacation.

Our family spent a week enjoying this amazing place just steps from the beach. The accommodations were incredible and as described with upgraded amenities and spacious living areas. Our condo was fabulous! We loved the location! Many food options available, including food, trucks, and other restaurants and walking distance. Beautiful boardwalk to walk the beach and watched turtles from our lanai. One of the toilets was not working properly, but management took care of it immediately. Highly recommend.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for exploring West Maui. Times grocery store and the food truck lot are each right across the street and it's an easy walk or short drive to tons of restaurants. We had rented snorkel gear for the week and had an excellent time visiting all the different nearby beaches and bays. Communication with the owners was truly outstanding. The unit itself was pretty dated, but we had plenty of space for two teenagers and two adults, and the AC and laundry worked perfectly. Pools were lovely and the ocean is right there - very little to no beach in front of the hotel itself, but sandy beaches are just a few steps away. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would be happy to return.

Just an absolutely wonderful place! Stunning location in every way. The condo was wonderful and had everything we needed and more. The resort (the Shores) was perfectly sized to have everything we wanted — two pools, bar/restaurant, beach, ocean rentals and towels, plenty of lounge chairs, shops, etc. but the condo was the standout…if you want a prime oceanfront location where you are looking at the turtles swim by while having coffee in the morning, or relaxing with the sunset directly in front of you while sitting on the balcony, this is it! A great addition was that the management company was friendly, helpful, and timely with all communication, too!

The overall stay was great. Renovations are well done. We had an unwelcome knock on our door stating our room was leaking downstairs and told us to not shower. The owner is in a 6 hour ahead time zone, therefore, during my honeymoon I was unable to shower for over 24 hours. Once the plumber showed he said shower we will fix it when your gone, very frustrating. The owners wife does not appear to have authority to make decisions so that was frustrating as well. The unit is very clean and comfortable minus the couch it is horrible uncomfortable. We ended up having to purchases batteries for the door lock that needs some love and we had to purchase toilet paper as only one roll was left. This is my 5th stay at AKS and this room is the most beautifully renovated and hearing the ocean all night was amazing. So overall great VRBO just think they have some kinks to workout. As a previous short term rental owner myself, I would highly recommend they have someone on the island that can make decisions on their behalf for the convenience of the renter. Would stay again.

Nice property, a little bit older but clean. We stayed at a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen. We are able to cook. The TV in the dining room is large but the one in the master bedroom wasn’t working. Overall this location is convenient and the swimming pool is great, the beach is very close.

While we looked forward to our stay in Maui, our experience with this rental property was unfortunately marred by significant cleanliness issues and poor communication from the management company.To be fair, some of the most important surfaces were clean upon our arrival. The bedding was fresh, the bed itself was comfortable, and the bathroom floors and toilet were clean. The kitchen countertops were also wiped down.However, beyond these initial surfaces, the lack of deep cleaning was apparent and unsettling. In the bathroom, the fan vent was caked with thick dust, and the shower fixture had a very visible layer of mineral buildup. On the vanity, a fake flower scent diffuser was coated in dust and tangled with hair. The kitchen was no better; the container of utensils (tongs, spatulas, etc.) next to the stove was greasy and dusty, as was the side of the refrigerator.Our discomfort was amplified on the first day when we discovered German cockroaches in and around the oven. A rental company associate did come to spray, but the problem persisted throughout our stay. The presence of pests, combined with the other dirty areas, made us question the overall hygiene of the property and left us feeling uneasy.Compounding these issues was a complete lack of effective communication. Our family of four (two adults and two young kids) had an incredible stay! We loved being on the ground floor—just steps from the pools, the restaurant, and of course, the beach. The location couldn’t have been better. We would occasionally wake up to music from the restaurant during breakfast, but it was never a bother and totally worth it for the convenience.Arthur’s unit was spotless and well stocked with everything we needed, including kid-friendly dishes, beach toys, and a pack-and-play for our youngest. We especially appreciated not having to bring that ourselves (just a tip for future guests—the mattress is stored under the bedroom bed).Overall, we had a fantastic vacation and would absolutely love to stay at Arthur’s condo again next time!

We really loved Kaanapali Shores and this particular room. It faces the neighboring resorts (with a full ocean view behind it), but this room is so high up, it feels very private and not like everyone can see into your room.The staff was very friendly, the pools are gorgeous and there’s more sandy beach than a lot of the other resorts. We were also pleasantly surprised how well stocked with beach gear and kitchen equipment this particular unit was.Even as we were exploring around and could see the other resorts, we agreed we liked Kaanapali Shores best and will come back to this place again!Some must-do activities—we took advantage of the free ticket for the sunset dinner cruise and it was wonderful. Also, we went over to Whalers Village several times, every restaurant we tried was good.I really can’t even think of a down side. We were so happy with our stay—and the price! Really hoping to go back!!

Our stay was amazing with 2 major snags. We arrived at the property with groceries in hand and let ourselves into the condo with the code provided by the property management. Upon entering the condo I encountered another family inside the unit that had checked in that day also. The management company told us there had been a “glitch” and that they had given the other family our condo number and code to enter by mistake. They put us in another unit for the night but this was a huge inconvenience as we had to move out the next day so they could clean both units and have us switch units. The management team told me they would text us to let us know the unit we rented was ready. We never heard back from them after that. We went to the unit later to find it clean and ready for us. The condo is gorgeous but we also found cockroaches in the toaster and running behind the oven unit on our last day. We let the management team know this also on checkout. The management team never acknowledged the bug issue. The unit we had for the 1st night had multiple roach traps in the kitchen too. I also would have expected them to contact us once we were in our correct unit to make a mends for the huge inconvenience but we heard nothing from them. Very disappointing as it was a major hiccup in our plans. Great unit but he management team could use some work and the unit needs fumigating.

We love the resort and all the amenities. Were really happy with the location, since it was at walking distance to local eateries, pool, beach, and food trucks.
We would suggest spraying the unit with pesticides. We found 3 roaches on our stay. One in the cabinets and two in counters.
