We very much enjoyed staying at this property. There is everything you need and a few extras were available such as boogie boards and beach, chairs, etc. It was only about a 15 minute ride from the airport and you could go either way from there.

The unit was not thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival: we found hair in the bathroom drawer and in the shower, walking barefoot made my feet dirty.
Numerous maintenance issues for example: air conditioner in living room was plugged and leaked water onto the sofa below it. The portable air conditioner units didn’t work well and were very noisy. The shade on the lanai was broken. Extremely loud bathroom fan that ended up dying. No screens on bedroom windows so we could not open windows for fresh air.
Minor annoyances TV remote was dead, toaster was old and gross, 3 coffee cups available for 4 adults.
Maintenance was responsive in trying to fix most things.
The above comments are meant constructive, and facilitate repeat business.

Maalea is the best place to stay in Maui's dry coast. Quiet, with little traffic and stunning views of Haleakala. The condo is located in an area that doesn't have many amenities (grocery stores, restaurants) but it is very convenient for getting to all parts of the island. The benefit of being in a small community is that it doesn't feel touristy at all. There is a wonderful beach park just at the end of the street which even has snorkeling opportunities.The views from the condo and lanai, day and night, are wonderful and we really enjoyed watching the sea turtle swimming in the bay just in front of the condo. The condo is an older unit and isn't as large as I thought (there is a mirrored wall in the living area which makes it appear larger in photos). However, we felt the views and location made up for that. If you're a light sleeper the sound of the wind whipping around the condo building may be an issue. It was also great to have a washer and dryer in the unit as it meant we could pack light.

Good size unit, clean, appropriately furnished and usable. Loved eating out on the balcony. Watching the sunrise, sunset, and moon rise out over the bay was awesome.
As some have mentioned, the unit has an air conditioner in the back bedroom that keeps that room cool and a window unit in the main living area, but not in the King bedroom. So don't expect the living area and King bedroom to get super cool. As others also mentioned, most nights - leaving the front door open allowed an excellent breeze through the unit as a better option vs the air condition.
The sound of the waves (with the windows open at least) was amazing!! I guess it possibly would be too loud for some, but we loved it. You are just 50ft or so from the water's edge.
We had a little mishap with some sheets not being available for the hide-a-bed. Good communication on it initially, though we never did see the sheets. We didn't press and were able to make things work by taking a sheet from another bed.
The pool wasn't great for a family, I think the facility overall is mostly populated with the older generation. We used the pool once and were threatened to be kicked out by the "Resident manager"? He claimed we were violating all the rules and would ban us if we did it again. The kids were in fact jumping into the pool which he claimed was prohibited. Sign just says no diving. Sign says no screaming, kids weren't screaming but were being kids. So I would say don't expect to play at the pool.

This property is truly such a great location. Comfortable beds, good space, lovely having two bathrooms and comfortable patio chairs to watch the waves.
My only complaint would be that there wasn’t a knife bigger than a steak knife so cutting my pineapple was more challenging than it should have been.
I would also suggest to the company to replace the “cutting boards” and sautee pans as they were on their last legs probably years ago.

We loved everything about our stay at Island Sands. I brought my mom to Maui for her birthday, and she looked at so many vacation rental listings before finding one that was just right. Overall a very satisfying place to stay, the highlight was the stunning sea views and master bedroom directly off the lanai, allowing us to fall asleep to ocean sounds and breezes. The bed in the master was like a giant marshmallow which worried us as we prefer supportive mattresses, but we both slept well regardless. The 2nd bedroom is very hot and small, with no fresh air, an inadequate fan and an AC unit that is very loud and not suitable for use while sleeping. Very tiny, dark kitchen but we didn't use it much and the lighting in the unit could be much better as it is difficult to read by. The complex is nice enough but the pool is very small for the size of it, and we were very disappointed that there is no beach or access to the shore without walking a few hundred metres to the nearest park. However this seems to be the case with most accommodation along the West Maui shoreline, it just would have been nice to be informed beforehand.

Initial impression was clouded by lack of lighting of the entrance pathway near the pool since we arrived after dark and a cockroach on the kitchen floor. When we talked to the property manager the following Monday, they informed us that the underground cables feeding those lights were damaged and overdue for repair.
The kitchen was equipped very well so we were able to eat in instead of going to restaurants, which are very expensive in Hawaii.
The rest of our time was delightful. We enjoyed the amazing views of the ocean, the sunrises over Mt
Haleakala, watching sea turtles from our balcony, and the reflection of the full moon off the water at night. Downside is the fact that the bedroom is the warmest room in the apartment since A/C is a small window unit and located in the living room. When we opened both the front door and the balcony door the fierce winds blew right through and cooled the rest of the flat but not the bedroom.
For those who care about pets n the building, they allow only service animals and we met several dogs which were very well-behaved and did not bark.
We were unable to contact Maui Paradise Property Management prior to our arrival to see if the location was affected by the wildfires a week earlier and to find out if we needed to rebook a different location. VRBO was not helpful in that regard. Later found out that their office in Lahaina had completely burned down, but they still sent us the correct arrival info one week prior to arrival.

This being our 1st non-traditional vacation booking, I was anxious and uncertain about the process. Leslie made everything so easy with her comprehensive and timely communication.
The unit was a great size for my wife, our two 10 y/o girls, and Grandma. Kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, lanai were all pristine and stocked with anything you might need for your arrival. A binder and a board with places to see and recommendations for dining were so helpful.
The location, 15 minutes from the airport and 2 minutes from the harbor, was ideal for exploring any part of the island.

We brought our 90-year-old mother here for her birthday. She had a fabulous time. She wanted to see the ocean and buy one last time. The views so amazing that she could sit on the lanai and look over at Haleakala in the ocean. Sleeping in the living room let her hear the sound of the ocean. At night you can see the lights of Kihei. We stayed close to the airport for mom. Turned out we loved the area. Nothing was too far for a drive. We went to everywhere and came home to the best view on Maui.
Even had a local friend come over and he said wow it’s really nice here love to buy myself a place like this. The size of the unit concerned us, but in the end it was more than adequate for all three. The sofa bed was remarkably comfortable. And the king size bed, and a full dresser provided enough room to really unpack.
We even had room for our wheelchair. Thank God we were in Maalea for the wind. The only bad thing is it is a really hot week and everything just gets hot. The trades were up, so keeping the door open let the cross breeze in.
Full kitchen was great. We made the most amazing pasta with all local ingredients from farmers market and put the restaurants to shame. Having a washer and dryer is absolutely wonderful. The small pool was more than adequate and felt like a bathtub. All in all five stars. Plus we really try to check in early because of 90 year old mom. The cleaning staff is great. They were expeditiously in the morning texted us right away. MAHALO!!!

My wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary during our stay and we could not have had a better experience. The location is 15-20 minutes from the busier towns and nightlife, but we were always excited to get back to our quiet corner of the island. We utilized the snorkel gear on days we were not out on some other amazing adventure. The place has enough amenities allowing us to cook many meals and enjoy dinners on the lanai with it’s spectacular view of the ocean. We often lost count of the numbers of turtles we saw in the mornings and evenings. We would not hesitate to stay here again when we return to Maui. Eve was a fantastic communicator, keeping us updated on inclement weather one evening and checked on us halfway through our stay for any needs etc. If you are looking for a bit of peace and serenity away from other tourists, we highly recommend staying here! This place truly have one of the best views in Maui. The lanai and living room look out to the ocean. Haleakala is visible from the lanai. Everything was clean and comfortable. This part of Maui tends to be breezy but helps to keep things cool. There is a window ac unit in the living room and a portable ac unit in the second bedroom. There is no ac in one of the bedrooms. Washer and dryer are in the unit. Included parking was helpful. The parking spaces in Hawaii tend to be narrow and this was no exception. ATT wireless cellular coverage was an issue at times in Maui especially near the condo and in Kehei so it’s helpful to have the screenshots of the arrival instructions before getting there. Once in the unit, the wifi works well. There is a beautiful quiet beach 1/4 mile from the condo. It’s an easy walk but parking there would not be an issue. The host provided beach chairs, umbrella, and beach towels. The host was always responsive and helpful.

Once we arrived there was a welcome note, gift and Hawaiian music playing. The condo was very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. I appreciated the host providing beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and a cooler. Great when going to the beach or the road trips around the island. The lanai had an amazing view of Molokini Crater, Haleakalā as well as beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The best view was of all the sea turtles in the water right off the property. This place is located in a nice, safe and quiet neighborhood and the beach is down the street. The house was neat and clean. Beds were comfortable. This condo is all about the ocean view. Fabulous.
Pool and barbecue are great also. Yes it is windy. All day, every day. Not that big of a deal for us.
Bathrooms were good. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was good. Washer/dryer was good. Unit is a little dated but not bad.
Now the bad. There is no A/C in the unit. The small window unit is useless in the living area and there is a note above it saying to not use it anyway. You can prop open the front door and the wind will blow through like a freight train to help cool off the living room. 2 bedrooms, one in front, one in back.
We used the one in front. The only window wouldn’t open so no air flow in there. Thank God for the ceiling fan, box fan, and small fan on each night stand. Even with those we still slept with no covers on. The ceiling fan light chain didn’t work and 2 of the 4 bulbs were missing. I had to unscrew and rescrew the 2 bulbs to turn them off and on. There was no place to plug our phones and my CPAP on the night stands. I had to buy an extension cord and move the bed to plug it in and then plug my stuff in.
There’s a window in line with the pillows. The blinds are fabric and useless. The first morning at 5:30am the whole room lights up from the sun. I had to hang a folded sheet to cover it.
To the owners, fix the ceiling fan/fans. They are cheap to buy. Put an alarm clock/USB/outlet on each nightstand. It’s 2023 for Gods sake and people want to plug in their phones and CPAPs.

The view from the lanai is absolutely gorgeous. We even had about 7 sea turtles greet us the day we got here! I love that there's a washer/dryer in the unit. Now I don't have to worry about doing a lot of laundry when I get home. The bed is really comfortable. Overall, I would recommend! The front desk staff aren't very friendly, though.

The place was great and the location couldn't have been better.
However, the biggest issue was the bugs. There were bugs on the floor and the ceiling every day. It was off-putting for sure. My Perfect Stays did the cleaning the moment they were informed of the issue, but it was just not appealing that the bugs were there in the first place. They looked like little flies and little cockroaches. No doors or windows were left open either, so it was very confusing as to how they got into the condo.
All in all, the place, location, view and people were amazing. It was just the bugs that weren't appreciated. Maybe a different time of year would mean less bugs.

What a beautiful place to spend a vacation! The whales were amazing. You can watch them right from your private lanai that has a spectacular view of the bay, Mt. Haleakala and the entire beach to Kihei. It is at the top of the Island Sands condominiums which is the tallest building in the area giving unobstructed panoramic views. The split AC works great and is whisper quiet with a little hum in the background. It's not always needed with the consistent breeze that helps to cool the unit. There is a comfortable King size bed in the bedroom, beach chairs and a 65 inch TV. The pool has a new heater and is very well maintained. Haycraft beach park is a short walk and a gateway to one of the longest stretches of beach in Hawaii. The condo's central location make it convenient to anywhere in the Island. You can walk to the aquarium and Ma'alaea harbor for snorkeling and whale watching excursions. Management is available and very helpful. I can't wait to come back!

We had a wonderful stay here. The unit had fantastic views and a great layout for a family of four. It was the perfect central location for exploring the island. We made use of the beach chairs, towels, and boogey board which were all supplied. Loved the washer/dryer! It was well stocked. Would definitely stay again!!

Having stayed in this unit previously, we fully enjoyed our stay. Almost always a beautiful breeze through the unit. Kitchen is well stocked. Great location to explore any area of Maui. Beautiful view of the bay from the balcony, and able to see multiple humpback whales breaching and spouting. Hoping to come back in the future, always a pleasure.

We had major issues with the cleanliness. Not only was there a cockroach infestation but the condo looked liked it had not been cleaned in a while. I called the management team and they didn't seem to take my concerns seriously. We avoided spending time at the condo.

Truly magical. The views from the lanai were spectacular and the most wonderful way to start every morning. The condo was clean, conveniently located, and well appointed. We had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The beach is a short walk away. Would highly recommend the condo!!

This lovely little gem has the most amazing view, is quiet and well stocked with necessities! My only issue was lack of beach and a very small (backyard) pool off the parking lot. If you do not care about these things, you will love this place. We will be back and thank the owners for their special attention to detail. Can you please update the knives? They are so dull and worn out to be dangerous and one handle broke while cutting a carrot! Thank you!

Everything was good whale and turtle watching from the balcony of our Condo with a telescope that was provided by the owners wow, watching the sun come up every morning over the highest point in Maui, full kitchen with everything you need, lawn chairs and towels provided, washer dryer very convenient, island breeze flowing through the condo we never did use the AC, the sound of the waves rolling onto the beach, I would HIGHLY recommend the Island sands to anyone,

We had wonderful time. The condo is awesome, beautiful views of the ocean and turtles on the beach below. There is a beach within walking distance also restaurants too. It is very relaxing to sit on the patio and look out over the Pacific. We will definitely visit this condo again.

It’s a very well equipped apartment with enough space for four adults. Everything was very clean check in was easy. The apartment is in walking distance to the harbor with some shops restaurants and then aquarium and to a very nice little beach. Everything else is reachable by car. The only disadvantage is that the apartment is situated directly in the landing zone of the airport the planes are flying very low over the apartment.

The property was exactly as described and just as everyone else said...THE VIEW!!! It is truly breathtaking! We had the pleasure of seeing turtles coming every night for dinner on the rocks directly in front of our lanai. Everything you need to be comfortable is available for you, we even used the boogie boards and gave it a try! The bed is very comfortable and we left the back sliding door open every night to listen to the waves. 10 out of 10...highly recommend!!

The view from this quite condo is beautiful. The location is so central to get anywhere on the island and yet it is so private and quiet in Maalaea! If you don’t like crowds, this is the place for you! Condo was well stocked with everything you might need, with the exception of beach towels and boogie boards. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this accommodation!

The apartment was very nice in a safe and quiet neighborhood. Beds were comfortable and it was nice to have a washer and dryer. There was no dining table inside so we sat outside on the patio.
We never met the host but he was available by phone with our questions.
