Our stay was just as we expected! Perfect views from our balcony, nightly we were able to see the sea turtles come ashore. The unit was comfortable, no a/c in tge bedroom but a lot of fans and a great breeze that made it no issue at all! Overall the property was a good location to explore the island from and the pool area was nice. We feel a hot tub would be a great addition, but not a deal breaker!

On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give it a 3. Starting with the view and working to the door, the view was beautiful. The patio had either to much furniture or it was to big for the space. The air conditioner drip on floor other than in tub (needs repair) the screen door and sliding glass door fall of track and continually needs to be put back on track (needs Repair) In the living room the air conditioner makes excessive noise, the couch needs to be replaced and it would have nice to get instructions on TV. Two remotes one Phillips the other spectrum doing different things volume on/off etc. Also, dirty rug in living room. Kitchen was great, however it needs more silver ware. Bathroom needs immediate attention to replace the handheld shower and clean dirt on fan. The bedroom needs new mattress and again no instructions on TV (what channels and premium Channels). The floor fan blew it filter all over when turned on, replace filter or get rid of. The key by the door had no explanation for its use. Last stall 74 is horrible Get rid of the garbage container so a person doesn't have to back out to the street The pool needs wind barriers, and a bathroom would be nice Photos on request

Ultra clean and functional condo with great ocean view. Its windy in Maalea but the location is central and non touristy. It’s a hidden gem. Most notably Sunny Maui Vacations has an exceptional customer service team that always responds promptly. If you need any thing they will be there for you. Its just really professionally run with lots of aloha.

The a/c was broken. They said there would be fans delivered to help. No fans arrived. It was very uncomfortable sleeping at night. If they get the a/c fixed I would stay again.

The location and view from the lanai is spectacular. We would watch the sea turtles every day. Some furniture is in need of replacement- two patio chairs were unusable. The property manager replaced the chairs as soon as they received permission from the owner but it took a couple days. The couch is uncomfortable but the beds were nice. Carpet in second bedroom is stained and there is paint chipping in the 2nd bathroom shower. I think the place could use some minor maintenance and it would be perfect.

The property was exactly as advertised. The check-in, entry and parking was a breeze. The grounds are excellently maintained. Consistent with other reviews, this area offers great views from the balcony and was where we enjoyed all our meals. We took full advantage of the grill at the pool area. Our morning and evening walks were equally divided between the beach (a short distance away) and the harbor (also a short distance away in the opposite direction). The central location allowed a great base for our daily island excursions. We were rarely in the condo during the day light hours. The exception was when we would hang out on the balcony to watch the hordes of local surfers when tides and waves provided the perfect venue to display their skills. Please note that the condo warms up during the day but the constant wind provides relief and comfort in the evenings. Kathy and her team were both proactive and responsive to any questions or issues.

Leslie was great to work with. She responded quickly to any questions I had. The unit is nice and was everything we needed. The bed in the master is amazing and we slept great!The AC in the living room is awesome and we actually had to turn it down. The one in the master bedroom never seemed to really cool off that room enough. The room is around the corner from the living room and doesn't really get the air from the living room. Thankfully, there are ceiling fans. There is also a fan in the closet which I pulled out and used that made it bearable. From other reviews, we were hoping to snorkel right out front with our kids, but that was not possible. The waves were too big when we were there and visibility looked to not be good. We used this place as a based camp and it was great for that. When we came back later in the day or night, parking spot is right there, easy to get in and out. We would go spray off the sand at the showers by the pool and then go swimming. The pool is small but amazing. We loved it! It was a great finish to our days.

We loved our stay at Maui Island Sands Resort! The view from the lanai was exactly like the photos, absolutely stunning. Within minutes of arriving, we saw a turtle on the beach and several more swimming. Later, nearly twenty turtles were visible resting by the rocky shore. It was a highlight of our trip.The condo was spacious and perfect for our family of five. It had a main bedroom with an en-suite bath and a second bedroom with its own bathroom. The kitchen was fully stocked, and there were plenty of towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and even a beach umbrella.Everything felt clean, updated, and well-maintained. The complex itself was quiet and had a pool, BBQ area, and a foot wash station. Assigned parking was also a plus.It’s just a short walk to Haycraft Park for beach access. We enjoyed snorkeling there and saw fish and turtles, but I’d recommend water shoes as there are thorns from nearby trees.Maalaea Bay is very windy (we saw consistent 15-25 MPH winds), so plan beach time in the morning before it picks up.Our host, Robert, was fantastic! He was very communicative and accommodating. He even let us check in early so we didn’t have to leave our bags in the car. Highly recommend this place!

Nice older condo unit. Turtles on the beach right under the balcony when we arrived and most afternoons we were there. Good communication with owner. No shampoo in unit and portable A/C units couldn’t keep rooms cooled (could only get the rooms down to @ 76 degrees). Beds were super comfy. Area was quiet and centrally located. Lots of amenities for the beach. Would stay here again if the opportunity ever comes about.

I appreciated the communication between the property and me regarding issues with roaches and bugs during the course of our stay. VRBO was uncommunicative and unapologetic about the conditions and allowed for no refund for us to go somewhere else. Also, there is only ONE window ac in the living room of this unit. The bedroom down the hall had no unit and no circulation without additional fans we asked for. It was hot and muggy and was not even Summer yet.

Cozy, clean and great view. However, the winds were so strong that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor areas. Fully furnished with all you need. Check-in directions said to open both doors for ventilation, but wind was so strong we felt like stuff was flying off the walls.

We were told they were spraying for insects 2 days before we arrived. The vague direction indicated we needed to be out by 9am to accomidate this. There were no other details. So we were umable to use the room for the better part of the day. Management reached out after i sent them an email. But i received no calls or reply to my email.

Overall stay was reasonable. We had a carpenter ant issue on day 2 that was acted upon quickly and correctly. The building maintenance, however is useless. The fire door across from the room would not close fully and latch. Consequently, it would open and bang every few minutes in the trade winds. Multiple requests to the mgmt company were acted upon by informing the on site personnel as this type of repair is not within their scope. That and an in person request to the onsite building mgr by yours truly were ognored. Our sleep was interrupted for two nights until I jammed something in the door to prevent it from banging. Otherwise the view, amenities and location on the water, were just what we ordered

We had a wonderful stay here at island sands. Beautiful views of the sunrise over the bay with daily sightings of sea turtles and humpback whales. We enjoyed the location which was central to most of the island and walkable to the harbor. We hope to return soon.

Some of the best unobstructed views you’ll get on Maui! We saw so many turtles and whales right from our lanai. Sunrise and sunset were so beautiful. Property is clean and as described. Area is quiet, conveniently located and accessible to other popular areas. We stayed here as a family of 3 and my sister and loved it. We would definitely book here again next time we come to the island.
