The condo in beach front, not the unit. Amenities were not clean around the condo. The apartment is old but decently furnished. Full of rules and the warnings sounds like they are threatening you if you fail to follow them.
The place is far from any place. Nothing is walking distante.

As a "Newly Remodel" properly few of the lights and electrical stockets didnt work. VRBO and Expedia communication on the rental of this unit was a total miss as we were overcharged! Won't rent using VRBO thru Expedia ever again.

The last time we were in Maui we stayed in this facility on the second floor. This time we were on the ground floor. The upper floors have an amazing view but the ground floor has great access to the pool and beach. From this unit you are 3-4 steps to the pool and 6-8 steps to the beach. The unit has been nicely updated with quality furnishings. The kitchen has all the things we needed to cook including spices and cooking oil. There is a grill close by to prepare your dinner as well. The only issue we had was a minor insect problem but the condo management sent pest control over the same day we called so it was quickly resolved. The bathroom is small but it’s nicely updated. The king bed was comfortable and a window AC unit cools the whole condo without difficulty. The unit has boogie boards, beach chairs, sand mats and a small cooler in the closet. The reason we continue to stay in this location is the access to the beach. You can literally walk out your door and head down a beautiful beach with very few people and no buildings for a couple of miles, all the way to Sugar Beach. We will stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It's right on a quiet stretch of beach and out of the more touristy areas. The building was 1970's but the inside of the unit was modern, clean and very comfortable. This was the first time we have booked with VRBO and it was generally a pretty positive experience, The only thing I would recommend is a little more explanation in the welcome packet so that new folks like us know what to do. We thought there would be a reception desk, thankfully the caretakers were able to explain about getting into the lockbox, which was in the welcome packet, but not emphasized for those who are new to the system. Just a thought. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed the unit thoroughly.

We enjoyed our stay here! I would have given all 5 stars if it weren't for the loud A/C unit going all night, and a couple of insects made it in on the ground floor unit.

This is the second time I have stated in Hono Kai Resort. This is a great place to stay. It is centrally located to West Maui, South Maui, Upcountry and the airport. We stayed in unit B4 and it was perfect. It was recently remodeled and we were the first guests in the unit and it was beautifully done and had everything needed for the stay. When I say everything, they thought about everything someone might need for a stay. There was good privacy for both of my teenage kids. It had gorgeous views of the ocean. The staff works very hard to keep the resort working beautifully and even with outside construction in the parking lot they were great at communicating information to the tenants as needed. I would recommend this location to anyone that is coming to Maui whether the first time or coming again. The location, amenities, and value make this a great place to stay especially for a family. The beach out front isn't much but there are so many other beaches to go to within a short drive from here that was never an issue for us. This is a practical place to stay not an over the top high priced resort but you can't beat the location.

We loved this property because it was not in a very touristy area, so we didn't have to deal with a lot of traffic and crowds. But, it was centrally located for easy access to the airport, Lahaina/Kaanapali, and Haleakala!! The complex is quiet, with a mix of residents and rentals. The property could stand to be updated, but it was perfect for our needs! And, I loved being able to hear waves crashing because we could access a part of the beach just steps down from the pool area!

Nice place, very well located, very central, close to the beach.
The only cons was that the manager or administrator of the building was really rude the first time we arrived at the apartment, he told my husband that our children were not welcome, maybe he was in a bad mood, i dont know, but that was kind of bummer.
although later the owner of the vrb apologized to us and had constant communication with us, it was nice to know that our problems were being addressed

Thank you for hosting us. It was very beautiful cozy beach facing home. Loved waking up to the sound of waves and birds. So quiet and pleasant and the house is right in between the south & east beaches. House is very well maintained and enjoyed how every corner was used to the fullest. The kitchen was completely user friendly and very well equipped.

I have to say the condo was sufficient for our stay it was a bit on the dark side which. made it even darker was the lighting was very limited one of the light fixtures was broken we call for maintenance to fix it he did but he left the bulb out and never return with the new bulb not sure what happened with that the condos sleeps comfortably two there were three of us a bit cramped I would not recommend four people to that with one bathroom other than that we had a great time

This condo has amazing location. Right from your lanai you can access the pool and the beach. Condo is very well stocked with everything you need. Wonderful stay. We had some very violent storms that ran through the island. Kihei got devastated by it, yet Maalaea Bay was much better sheltered from the intensity. The condo is a great place to sit and enjoy views of the mountain and sea. My daughter and grandson stayed here, but all of us enjoyed the afternoon sun from the porch. She said the bed was comfortable and the condo was clean. The pool is small, perfect for a beginning swimmer. I would stay here again if the price was right.

After seeing the pictures of this condo, I was excited for my stay. Didn't feel the same way once I got there and saw the room in person. The condo definitely needs to be updated. We made sure to stay out all day; only coming back to the room to sleep. I feel that we overpaid for this room. A woman with a key also barged into our room on checkout day, hours before we even had to be out, making us feel extremely uncomfortable and causing us to rush out in fear that she would come back.

The house also had multiple rat traps within reach of my toddler, and I wasn't informed of a rat problem. The AC in the unit barely cooled off the top room and the place was so uncomfortably hot during the day that we couldn't be there. At night it was still hot but we were okay. The upstairs bathroom had some sort of sewage problem during our stay and the whole place smelled of sewage. Even after the guys outside fixed something, our upstairs bathroom (where the kids took baths) smelled so bad we had to keep the door shut the rest of our stay and only use that bathroom briefly for baths. The company stayed in touch the whole time and I also informed them of the sewage smell, the water bugs and the accessible rat traps. I wouldn't stay here again.

If you are looking for a beachfront condo that is ground level and walks right out onto the sand then this is the place. There is a two mile undeveloped white sand beach that you can walk on every day with few people around. The condo is newly remodeled and very clean. This is the most central area of Maui and is a great place to begin any of your adventures around the island. The condo has boogie boards, beach chairs, and a cooler.

We are very happy with our stay at Hono Kai A5. I greatly appreciate the tupperware and cookware which made the occasional cooking a breeze. The beach chairs, boogie boards and snorkel certainly came in handy as well. We were slightly disappointed about the beach which was way rougher than expected but it's not the end of the world either. Thank you for maintaining this cozy and lovely space!
