This was the most comfortable condo we have EVER stayed in! The bed was utterly amazing!!!
We've been to all the islands, multiple times and several other trips. This cond blew out every big name resort you can think of! AND you literally walk out your slider 50 feet to a soft sand beach with a putting green 70 feet out your slider looking at the ocean which is 40 feet from a BBQ that is always immaculate!
My 10 year old grandson literally went from Aulani to Marriott then flew to Kauai for Pono Kai and all he talks about is the condo!
I have 1 final word, if you want to stay here book in advance, it is so worth the wait, any time I ever come to Hawaiian islands, it will be Kauai, Pono Kai C102

My wife and three young adult daughters stayed for a week over Christmas. Really enjoyed going to sleep at night listening to the waves, having morning coffee on the lanai with the beautiful sunrise, the great beach access, the walkway and short walk to local shops and restaurants in Kapaa. We just spent Christmas at Donna's property at Pono Kai. The views are amazing and do not disappoint. The location is perfect right on the beach and a good base camp for going anywhere on the island. The kitchen is fully equipped. She also has beach chairs, an umbrella, and a small cooler available for use. We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas vacation at Donna's condo.

This was an ideal place to stay for our first visit to Kauai. Its central location allowed us to easily explore all parts of the island. The balcony view allows for lots of people and rooster/chicken watching as well as sunrise every morning. The hosts provided everything we needed and were very good at communicating. The apartments are old, in desperate need of refurbishment. When we arrived we saw that the apartments were prepared for two people, even though we booked it for three. When they brought us bed linen for the third person we had to change it, because it was old and stained. Safe is locked with a key :)

First of all, pictures online are not the actual room that you receive. All rooms are chosen at the corporate level, you get what they chose for you.
Aside, the place has a variety of games/activities for the family to enjoy on the premise. The boardwalk along the beach (note, not a swimmable area for a few miles) gives stunning views to the sunrise. Very centrally located to travel along the island.

The unit is perfect, no complaints at all. The location is perfect for hanging at the beach, taking long walks on the paved path or just watching the sun go down. The Pono Kai has a pool, jacuzzi, tennis, shuffle board, ping pong, horse shoes, board games, volleyball, a small golf put green, corn hole and much more.

The condo was roomy for our family of five to have private space. The beach equipment (chairs, snorkel gear, umbrellas even a small cooler) made it so much easier to dash off to the beaches. My wife and I choose this spot for a two-week getaway to celebrate our 40th. We come to the islands about every 5 years and our stay in Kapa'a kindled many fond memories.
We loved the location of our condo, which afforded us a perfect view of sunrises over the Pacific, and was a short walk to everything convenient. We found our apartment to be very clean, with thoughtful supplies of towels, linens, and kitchen items that made us feel right at home. I suppose my only peevish peccadillo has to do with a couple of our neighbors whose fondness for smoking marijuana on their balcony, along with apparently rearranging furniture after hours made for a couple of unpleasant evenings.
That said, all in all we very much enjoyed this lovely oceanfront and getaway.

We chose this property as it is right on the ocean with an ocean view. We were pleasantly surprised that it was also next to the Kauai multi-use path which runs in both directions quite a ways. Parking was ample and easy. The building insulation is tremendous as we never heard any noises from neighbors other than the roosters in the morning.
While the property has many other amenities such as a pool, grills, etc, we did not take advantage of any of these during our stay. The unit was nicely appointed and had lots of extras like snorkeling gear, beach chairs and towels, etc.
Be aware that the A/C is only in the bedroom. The living room has a sliding glass door to the covered balcony so you get the ocean breezes to help cool the place down, and there is a ceiling fan as well, but it can get quite stuffy.
Overall, glad we picked this place and would stay again.

Overall, we were comfortable. Beds not great, but worked for a week. Could not get the TV and DVD to work in master bedroom. The coffee pot needed to be replaced during our stay…it was taken care of…not as quickly as we would have liked. The walls are thin and we could hear everything around us.
The location is amazing. We loved being directly on the beach and near lots of restaurants. The walking path is amazing. Lots of resort facilities, but we didn’t partake.

The kitchen was fully stocked with an abundance of plates and cutlery for larger groups, various coffee makers to suit anyone's taste, spices, and even tequila shots. Additionally, the condo provided lounge chairs and snorkeling gear. However, the standout feature was its prime beachfront location, allowing you to relish every moment of your stay in beautiful Kauai without missing a beat. We had the most INCREDIBLE stay at this condo! The beach view does not get any better than this! It is also spacious with a full kitchen (which saved us a lot of money on food), has VERY comfortable beds, two large bathrooms and a comfortable living area to relax after long days in the sun! We loved having the AC units available if we needed them. This host was great at communication and has truly thought of and provided everything needed to have a great vacation! We really enjoyed having Tommy bahama beach chairs and beach umbrellas, beach towels, boogie boards and sand toys all provided by the host. We have had to rent those items in the past on trips to Kauai and it can be pricey, so we really loved having them available and ready to use! We used them everyday. One thing to keep in mind is that because this is a private rental, the resort does not provide pool towels, so bring the beach towels from the condo when you hit the pool! We loved the pool and hot tub. The resort itself is breathtaking. It has hammocks all around the resort for lounging, along with games , BBQ’s and other things to do. We enjoyed the nice little beach right outside the condo that we went to when we didn’t want to drive to another beach. You can’t beat this spot! Our stay here was by FAR our favorite visit to Kauai and a lot of that credit goes to this condo being close to shops and beaches and the host providing everything we needed and more! We will absolutely be back for another stay here!

Beautiful stay at the Vrbo. The only reason i rated down a small amount was the ad stated washer and dryer in the Vrbo and there isn’t one. So if you are counting on this…you need to know there is no washer and dryer. I even went back to check the listing after we got there and realized there wasn’t one.
You have a limited number of pool towels as a Vacasa member vs a pono Kai member and cannot check out or exchange your towels in the pool area for fresh ones so without a washer/dryer a week can be a long time with limited towels with daily use at the beach and pool.
Otherwise the unit is beautiful, clean and as listed.

Our first stay in D308 was in October 2022 and this year we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving week on the island of Kauai and thought D308 would be a perfect place to stay at. The air conditioning was a nice upgrade and nice to have if one needed it. Honestly the trade winds made it very comfortable. Having said that, we can imagine the summer months might be a bit uncomfortable.
The hosts were wonderful and checked in on us during our stay. If you are having second thoughts with the cost per night...it is worth every penny. The sunrise every morning from your lanai and the walking path, the walking distance to Kappa town and its central location to the North and South shore is so worth it.
Our only complaint has nothing to do with the condo but more so the traffic, which the hosts cannot control. We have noticed over the years the traffic has progressively gotten worse all over this beautiful island. I suppose that is the price one must pay to visit this beautiful and magical place.
Kudos to the local government for cleaning up the homeless issue along the path. We remember in 2019 when it was really bad.

This condo was and looked just like listing described. Unfortunately the washer was broken but there was washer on site to use ( quarters required) but the dryer was working fine. The beds are not very comfortable the futon in living room was the most comfortable bed. Bring extra towels there is not enough. I did bring extra and washed a load while we were at the property. You walk right out the patio door and a couple 100 feet and the ocean is there. There is plenty to door near the condo in walking distance food, shopping and bike rentals which was super fun. We would definitely stay here again.

Our neighbors above us had a toddler who ran around the unit constantly and because the sound insulation is so poor it really became an aggravation. Our last night was outrageous….the running started at 4AM and only let up when I banged on the ceiling.
These units are a problem unless you stay on the 3rd floor. Because we don’t do stairs we will not return to this listing.

You have a front row seat to Kauai sunrises. The AC’s in the bedrooms worked super well but the living room had a hard time keeping up understandably. I also appreciated a well stocked kitchen! There have been times where I have had to purchase things like a wine opener for a VRBO, and this did not happen with this property. We had one issue while staying and the host was incredibly quick to respond and get the issue resolved ASAP. This was much appreciated!!! I would most definitely recommend this property.

The property was a great location to travel to all the different beaches. The view of the ocean made up for the wear and tear of the unit. The unit needs some repairs. The back sliding glass door handle is breaking and the cabinets draws in the kitchen are broken and falling off. The listing stated that it sleeps four and has beach towels for the guest. The unit had only 2 beach towels. We originally were going to have 4 adults staying in the unit for the week but my son and girlfriend decided to stay in the Condo with her parents so in the end we survived with only two beach towels. The owner was really nice and he allowed us to check-in early. We would definitely stay again in this unit. In fairness the owner probably doesn’t know about what needs to be repaired so I will send an email to him so that he can make the repairs.

Perfect location! Walking distance to restaurants to and shopping. Easy to get to any part of the island. The condo was a perfect size for our two couples. We loved cooking in the kitchen and using the resort grills. The sun and moon rises were spectacular! Dinner and cards on the lanai almost every night! It was a perfect vacation.

This condo is comfortable, clean and is within a few steps to the ocean! It has been stocked with pretty much everything you'll need for an enjoyable stay. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, the price is totally reasonable! It's located in Kapa'a within walking distance of many shops and places to eat. The resort has an amazing list of activities; pool, hot tub, exercise room, outdoor bbq grills to use, games including outdoor chess, tennis, croquet, putting green, and more, along with beautiful landscape, koi pond and waterfall......and of course, the chickens!! The host, Bryan, is easy to work with and keeps you informed of any important details. Thanks again, Bryan!

This condo has an excellent location, just a short 100 yard walk to the beach and ocean views from the Master bedroom and living room. The interior is a little dated and rustic due to exposure to the sea humidity constantly, but overall a good stay. Was slightly disappointed that there was no A/C, but the cool ocean breeze made the condo comfortable. We did run into some reptilian visitors indoors, but we're used to that living in the desert and they were harmless. The condo was clean and the beds and linens comfortable. Dishwasher was out when we rented, but doing dishes by hand wasn't a big deal. For the price, this was an excellent choice for me family's vacation. Would rent again but they should disclose there is no A/C.

The view was spectacular, it was clean and quiet. The beds were super comfortable and we really appreciated the air conditioning.
We could walk to the softball fields and had a wonderful time. If we return, we’d love to book it again!!

Very well-maintained and equipped for a fun and relaxing vacation for all ages. It has every amenity we need. One minor exception is that we could not connect the TV in the master bedroom. However, the one in the living room worked well. We appreciate the beautiful welcome gifts, too. Future guests will be very comfortable in this unit.

Great location. Great view of the mountain, ocean and bike/walking path. Nice pool and hot tub area. Generally quiet area. Restaurants in area not the best. Condo has cooking supplies. Condo also has beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels etc. Richard was great to work with.

This unit was perfect for our stay! It was super clean, comfortable, well stocked with essentials, and it had all of the extras needed for fun at the beach! The property was beautifully kept it even had a koi pond and hammocks strategically placed. We woke up early just to experience a phenomenal sunrise. The location of the unit is great, we walked to town for fresh fruit at the farmer’s market, delicious burgers at Bubbu’s, and a wonderful breakfast at Java Kai, This was a fantastic recommendation from our host Jared. My fiancé and I came to Hawaii for our wedding. The sun rises in the morning were breathtaking from the lanai. The pictures do not do it justice when it says it is right on the beach. The condo had everything you could possibly want or need for a great stay in Hawaii. The location is centralized for convenience of traveling north or south on the island. It is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.
The only complaint I have is that the bed in the master bedroom is not very comfortable. We ended up purchasing a memory foam mattress topper while we were there to help provide some comfort.
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely come back.
