This condo is amazing!! My family (5 of us) enjoyed our stay very much. Hosts were very quick to respond to our questions. Place was very clean and right on the water. Resort grounds were beautiful with so much to do! On our down time (rainy day) we played ping pong, crockett and horseshoes. We will definitely be back!!

The location is why the high rating. The place has its positives but is older and could use some work. The iron is so old and did not work. The fan in guest room has no remote and hard to figure out. The kitchen was very good and the screen door going out to ocean is very hard to see through. My biggest issue was smell in room like it was just cleaned. Just not a fresh air smell. Having said all this I would stay again but would be nice to have air conditioning

Our host was great! She was quick to respond to any emails or inquiries. The condo was perfect- the view was spectacular!!! There were several amenities that came in handy during our stay- we enjoyed the fold-out chairs while watching the beautiful sunrise! The kitchen was stocked- the beds were very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean! We would definitely recommend a stay here while you visit Kauai!!

Ocean view was fantastic. Air conditioner didn't work properly after 2 times using it. Called Brenda to tell her about it and she said if might of been the timer was set. We turned the timer off but still didn't work properly. We didn't call her back because we got used to not using it. We did leave her a note stating it should be looked at.I don't think the floors were mopped/swept because there were bugs behind one of the chairs and also found blood spots in the livingroom and bathroom

The condo was perfect! The view of the water is exactly as shown in the pictures, so you could enjoy the sound of the waves. It was wonderful to enjoy the sunrise each morning while we sipped coffee on the balcony. As noted by others, there are only stairs, no elevator. And while there is no air conditioning, the condo cooled off nicely overnight with the ceiling fans, open patio door, etc. I would absolutely stay here again!

This place is gorgeous! It is just as pictured and described with a couple of bonuses. The condo was spotless, the A/C works great, and the kitchen had everything we needed in it - and we cooked everyday.I really appreciated the ease of communication with Kauai Vacation Rentals. Overall, the condo was wonderful and a great value. We will certainly stay again. Bonus: The main bath closet was stocked with everything we needed for the beach (and more). This saved us time and money from having to rent it elsewhere. When we were there this included beach chairs and mats, sun umbrellas, wagon, bogie boards, and a perfectly-sized small cooler.

The room was clean, well-stocked, and very comfortable. It is highly desirable that this unit comes with air conditioning, which is very much needed in Hawaii. The view is impeccable. The location is central to all of Kauai. Getting to any part of the island doesn’t seem very far away. My only complaint is that the television station options are not easy to maneuver and I don’t know if it was available, but I could not get any local TV stations (Honolulu). Otherwise I would highly recommend this rental.

This unit was fantastic in all categories! The ocean view was phenomenal. The unit was beautiful inside with all the amenities one would need. The A/C worked perfectly, also. We could not have possibly asked for a better unit, it was absolutely perfect. If and when we return to Kauai we will definitely rent this unit again. Stayed 30 days & maybe 5-7 days would be ok. It's REALLY all about the VIEW! Can see ocean even when seated on sofa, or at dining table, or in kitchen cooking. The sunrises are OUTSTANDING! Were disappointed with: furniture old-dated-scuffed-stained-uncomfortable if you stay-in 5 nites/wk, only one set of sheets & had stains-holes, mattress sinks in middle had to sleep on very edge, had to buy our own wine glasses (only old plastic ones) & hangers (hosts happy to reimburse us but on site people should be on top of this), dish/kitchenware old-dated, lanai had wood table & 4 wood chairs w/ 3 thin cushions-super uncomfortable to sit-read, ancient heavy uncomfy beach chairs so had to buy our own TBahama ones, no cleaning products other than counter cleaner (for a month, would have dusted/mopped/cleaned bath; did get another sponge & trash bags from cleaners), knew from vrbo listing that we must buy our own paper towels & toilet paper but this is 1st out of MANY 30 day stays have ever had to, while portable AC in bedroom a surprise & could cool room before sleep, it couldn't be on all night cuz must empty water bucket every few hours. In a few words, it's a very basic unit with an amazing view. What did we like? the VIEW!, clean, convenient location, prox to beach walk, power outlets by bed, bed bug protectors on mattress/pillows, responsive hosts. Just not best for long stay & is pretty basic in finishes. 1st time we were ever happy to go home from a vrbo for lack of comfort.

The Pono Kai Resort is beautiful! We loved sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise every morning. Absolutely stunning! The apartment is stocked with everything you need. We cooked most nights and ate dinner on the balcony. We made use of the grills available on the property. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the air-conditioning. The air unit is in the front and the bedroom is at the back. We made use of the fan provided and pushed air down the hall to the bedroom, which worked okay if you kept drapes closed. It was a little to warm for sleeping some nights. Aside from that, we had a wonderful stay at Pono Kai. The location was fantastic for exploring all parts of Kauai.

This property was clean and updated. However, there were a few issues. First, the pool was not open when we were there. I feel this is something that should have been communicated before our arrival. Second, it is not on the beach or within walking distance of a beach. There is a path behind the property where you can see the ocean, but that is all. When we arrived, and I asked about the beach, the front desk guy looked at me like I was crazy. He said you couldn't swim there, and we would need to drive 45 minutes to the beach. He made no mention of a beach within walking distance, so if there is one, we didn't find it. There was a beach that I think you could get to by walking, maybe 15-20 minutes down the path; however, I didn't see anyone swimming there. It also looked a little sketchy. On the positive side, this forced us to get out and explore. The last thing I would note is that the bedroom does not have AC. There is a unit in the family room/kitchen, but when we arrived, it was warm in the unit, and there was a big fan in the bedroom. I was told this is how all the units are. It did cool down and wasn't as warm after we had the air on for a few hours. I think the resort should have turned the air on earlier than they did for our arrival. All in all, the place was nice, but I was very disappointed in the pool and beach access.

We loved our stay in this condo on the beach. Everything was top notch. It was immaculately clean and probably the best equiped VRBO we've stayed at. The bed was comfy and all accommodations were top notch. I must say it has the best freezer for making ice!! It was always full and with the humidity we had during our stay we used it a lot. The A/C was very nice and cold. We fell in love with the chickens and roosters at our lanai. My husband and I agreed, we would definitely stay in this condo again. It's close to everything and rents snorkeling gear in the lobby. Everyone was very friendly. There is beach front and you can get to the water. We did not snorkel there but several beaches are very close. We picniked almost every day at a different beach. I would highly recommend this Condo.

Beautiful beach view and balcony; the outdoor seating provide a good place to sit and read or take a nap. The air-conditioners and fans are very good once we figure out how to work (had to replace battery in living room fan remote). The living room couch is way too low for us to sit but the two club chairs work out well. All a very enjoyable stay.

The one downfall was we had booked this location for access to the pool and hot tub and they were down for construction and we didn’t know until we arrived.

If you want a night of good sleep this isn’t the place; you’ll listen to your upstairs neighbors all day even when they’re just talking and don’t get me started on when they walk, use the restroom, etc. The space definitely needs some improvement, doors, paint and other things look very old and it also wasn’t as clean as I’d expect. The view though is good and the access to the pathway that goes all the way in front of the ocean for miles is very convenient.

I’m familiar with Pono Kai, so I appreciated that part, but Stephanie and Steven have done a stellar job renovating this unit to make it bright and cheerful — and making sure their guests would be comfortable and have things they’d need (beach toys, chairs, umbrella, etc).

The room was warm and muggy ẅhen we arrived. The unit has two a/c units. The master bedroom unit worked well, but the living room unit seemed to struggle to cool and it would turn off before the room was cooled to the set tempetaure. The second bedroom didn't cool, we had to set up two fans to blow cool air toward that bedroom. The unit and some bedding (quilts) had an odd smell. It only had one beach chair. The beach was very close (30 yards], that was nice. The outside a/c unit is located on the small patio, the warm exhaust from that blows on you when sitting on the patio, ouch! We enjoyed our stay, but I would stay elsewhere the next time i return to Hawaii.

First the positives: Great location and view from the condo lanai, kitchen was very well stocked. Not so good: We weren’t impressed with the cleaning (very dirty under furniture) and bugs (they do mention this in their listing) but they did have an exterminator come in to fix the gap under the door (helps tremendously) and place roach traps. Windows in bedroom also need new locks (vs a stick) to keep people from entering through them. Overall, decent 7/10 place but need some attention to the place to get it to 10/10 and worth the money we paid. Just being honest….
