Our neighbors above us had a toddler who ran around the unit constantly and because the sound insulation is so poor it really became an aggravation. Our last night was outrageous….the running started at 4AM and only let up when I banged on the ceiling.
These units are a problem unless you stay on the 3rd floor. Because we don’t do stairs we will not return to this listing.

Perfect location! Walking distance to restaurants to and shopping. Easy to get to any part of the island. The condo was a perfect size for our two couples. We loved cooking in the kitchen and using the resort grills. The sun and moon rises were spectacular! Dinner and cards on the lanai almost every night! It was a perfect vacation.

My fiancé and I came to Hawaii for our wedding. The sun rises in the morning were breathtaking from the lanai. The pictures do not do it justice when it says it is right on the beach. The condo had everything you could possibly want or need for a great stay in Hawaii. The location is centralized for convenience of traveling north or south on the island. It is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants.
The only complaint I have is that the bed in the master bedroom is not very comfortable. We ended up purchasing a memory foam mattress topper while we were there to help provide some comfort.
I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would definitely come back.

This unit was the best unit I have ever stayed in when vacationing. The cleanliness was exceptional, location was perfect to see all of Kauai. It was so amazing to open the sliding door and see/ hear the ocean.
This condo is well worth renting. The owners were amazing and were there to help with any questions I had. They go above and beyond to make your stay a wonderfull experience. Dont hesitate rent this today and make the dream come true.

The property was incredible and the owner was great with communication. The path right outside of the patio doors was great for a quick bike ride or walk/run. The beach in front of the property had really nice sand and surf. Searching for crabs at night on the beach was really fun. Overall property is in a great location and came fully stocked with everything needed for cooking meals, playing on the beach, and other outdoor rec. Highly recommend and hope to be back someday!

Lena's condo was exactly as advertised and had absolutely everything we needed and more. She has really thought of everything. The convenience of the ground floor unit was wonderful and extended the living space. the proximity to the grounds many amenities and beach were perfect (and watching sunrise each morning was lovely). Lena was very responsive to our questions and provided step by step information for when we arrived, what to expect and how to go about things. The use of the bikes were a wonderful bonus and we used them several times on the path. We would absolutely stay in this condo and at Pono Kai again.

This condo is perfect. There were beach chairs/umbrellas, beach stuff (boards/snorkels/masks/floats/towels), and a cooler for use. I would definitely stop and check before buying anything for your stay. The beach is right there and you can watch the sunrise from bed. We won't be back because there is too much of this world to explore, but you should stay here. You won't be disappointed.

The rental couldn't have been more perfect from the helpful communication from the host and fantastic location to the rental itself. Additionally we loved having access to their beach and snorkeling gear. We ended up doing a lot of exploring on the island but the resort and host has everything you need to enjoy your vacation!

We spent a lovely 10 days here over Christmas. The condo is perfect- walk across the grass and bike trail to the beach. No traffic noise- centrally located in Kapaa, no need to drive if you stay in town. We were able to use the owners’ bicycles- which were perfect and spent lots of time on the bike path. The town has tons of local flavor- which we prefer over resorts and had great food at many of the restaurants. The people on the island are friendly and welcoming. Our hosts were readily available for questions and the condo was well- equipped, down to the coffee filters. The laundry facilities are right around the corner. We didn’t try the pool- preferred the ocean and only used the gym a couple times. The water near the condo is pretty calm- no crashing waves but lovely swimming and floating. Shopping is all nearby as well. This is a quieter town- everything shuts down around 5 and not all restaurants are open every day. Make sure to visit the Pono market- they close at 2 and usually have a line but well worth the wait!

This place is amazing! It is so close to the ocean you can hear the waves while you sleep. The property looks like a magazine cover. There are chickens everywhere but no poop on the ground. The bed is a little hard but I am use to a very soft bed. There are not words for how perfect it was.

Overall good property and good experience. Only hiccup was on check in day…the door code did not work. We contacted the property owners and manager and did not get a response. We finally got a response an hour and half later when we went had the resorts front desk contact the property manager. We would have expected phones to be ready at check in time in case of what we experienced. Outside of that hiccup, the stay was nice. Place was clean and had all the amenities we wanted. Location was incredible. Paco’s Tacos next to the resort is a must-go place. Great chicken tacos.

We love staying in Kapaa because of its convenient location, bike path and food options. We really enjoyed the ocean front view and bikes we could ride along the bike path. This condo was very comfortable for our family and we are hoping to come back next summer.

This is an excellent location to stay on Kauai to adventure to many parts of the island. The condo was clean and well stocked with items for the kitchen, beach, and even bikes! The lanai was wonderful in the mornings to watch the sun come up over the ocean. The town of Kapa’a is just steps away that offers food options and shopping. Go to Pono Market. It’s a great family-owned place. We also appreciated the air conditioning on the steamy summer days. We definitely would return another time!

Probably the best vacation ever... partly because of our condo! Furnished with tons of beach goodies--- chairs, coolers, umbrellas, straw mat... even snorkeling stuff and boogie boards. Surf puts you to sleep since it's 50 feet from the sand. Kitchen is supplied well. We even used the two bikes on the 7 mile bike path that runs along the shore. We were a bit nervous being on the ground floor because of unknown upstairs neighbors. On the first night we reminded them at midnight that other people were in the building... so to take it down a notch. We preferred to stay in Kapaa instead of north or south because it was accessible to all. This is a bigger unit with two baths... and was perfect for us. The condo community had good amenities too. We will definitely be back... but for a bit longer next time!

The condo was updated and absolutely beautiful, with AC, all the amenities you could think of or want, and just steps from the beach. You can't beat it! The location was within walking distance to most of the shops and restaurants in town. We got a rental car and didn't really even need it(unless you want to visit other sides of the island of course). The resort has a beautiful Koi pond in which you can feed the fish or just enjoy the scenery. Puttputt golf, bocci ball, croquet, tennis, chess, herb garden, pool and more! We just enjoyed the scenery alone and all the flowers and lush beauty Kauai has to ofter. 10/10 would stay again!

The onsite property manager Renee was amazing and worked with us to fix an issue and went above and beyond.
The condo itself is in an awesome location within walking distance of everything Kapa'a has to offer and is situated right between the north and south sides of the island, so going anywhere was a breeze (apart from the ever-present traffic jam on Highway 56, but that's been around forever).
The Kauai Multiuse Path is literally just outside your door for awesome strolls along the ocean.
Our one suggestion to improve things would be bigger beach towels in the unit.

We had such a wonderful time. Not only was this place in this location above and beyond what I imagined, but Lena is an amazing host. She checked in to see how we were doing which stood out to me. It was our first trip to Kauai and it could not have been better. This property is at the center of everything. We do wish we could have stayed longer. With the ocean waves nearby, it was so hard to say goodbye. We do hope, when we decide to return back to Kauai, this property will be available. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. Spend a month here will my elderly parents. We have stayed at this compound previously, but this is the first two bedroom unit. I cannot imagine a better location. The amenities are plentiful and the view is amazing. Walking distance to Old Town with many shops and restaurants.
Only downside would be noise from other guests in the unit above. No control over who is renting there, so hope for quiet people.

The location is just amazing and we loved watching the sunrise from the bedroom, living room, lanai. The unit has very good views for sunrise and the ocean, but the bike/walk path does get busy early in the morning. Privacy may be an issue for some, but it was fine. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai, and could easily access the walkable beaches. The town is a short walk with several food options to choose from. No need to drive around, making this a perfect location.
The property was clean, well maintained, tastefully done. It was a very comfortable stay. The pool on the property was also easily accessible, clean. The Pono Kai resort itself is well maintained and clean.
We had an issue with the door code not working one day, but the property manager was super responsive and helped us out promptly.
We would love to stay here again.

This unit at Pono Kai was perfect for our family of 4. The location was wonderful. Bike and jogging path 20 feet from the lanai. Amazing oven views. We could walk to restaurants, shops and to get yummy shave ice! Also, it was a great central location so we could explore the north and south shores. This condo had everything we needed and more! Cooler and beach chairs were SO nice to have! The owners also let us use their bikes which was amazing! We biked down to Kealia beach and had a blast boogie boarding. Thanks again for letting us stay in your beautifully updated property!

From check-in to Checkout this unit was more than we could have asked for. We were vacationing with another couple for both of our anniversary’s. The unit really is about 25 steps to the ocean and is clean and modern. Everything is here that you’ll need. Don’t overpack, the on-site laundry is a few steps away, so clothes washing is easy. Very central to most affordable eating establishments if you choose to eat out. Just remember, you’re on Aloha time out here so you’ll be lucky if their open. There is plenty of on-site recreation and if you want to rent equipment, there’s a concierge and Rex center open. No need to go out in town to rent. The hosts communicate very well and have an on-island manager which we did not use in case you need anything. This unit is also on YouTube and gives a great overview of what to expect, Mahalo

The property and view were absolutely the best. Eastside Zen Retreat was everything and more than it was advertised to be. The perfect vacation retreat and centrally located on the island. Also perfect for guests that enjoying cooking at home and just relaxing or venturing out. Kapaa is a great town for any type of shopping whether it be for food, dining out or gifts to take home.

Loved the stay which was perfect for our family of 4 with two teenagers. The unit was right on the ocean with great views and a bike/running path that I used daily. Unit is also within a short walk from Kapaa town which has a lot of good options for food and drinks, and a terrific coffee shop. Unit has a shared paid laundry facility which worked fine for us. Also there is not centralized AC, but the master and other bedrooms had a swamp cooler which did the trick. Kapaa was a great place to be as it is not far from either the north or south coasts and has great hiking, golf and other activities nearby.

Lovely 2-bedroom condo on first floor with Lanai fronting on ocean and convenient bike/walking path.
Very convenient to downtown shops, restaurants (coffee, pizza etc.)
Well equipped kitchen.
Dining table and chairs made of beautiful, HEAVY (koa?) wood.
Resort pool and hot tub functional, if a bit dated.
Plenty of activities available to amuse kids: corn hole, horseshoes, croquet, putting greens, tennis courts being refurbished as of (July 2021).

The new owners, Lena and Ivan are the right people to rent from. The unit is as pictured and described. Pono Kai has so many things to do at the resort, when you're not doing the excursions. My wife, daughter, niece and myself had fun "playing". The unit had all the things we needed to enjoy the stay. We put the beach chairs, snorkel gear and cooler in the car and hit the various beaches. The owners were at the island and we got to have some cold beverages together and got to know them a bit. Amazing stay! Would stay in their unit anytime. Thanks Lena & Ivan- we hope to come visit again!
