This is our third time staying at Pono Kai and our first time staying in this unit. This unit was everything we could have wanted and more. It was big enough for our family of four and we loved having two bathrooms and A/C throughout the whole condo. The views of the ocean from the master bedroom and the patio were amazing. We had a beautiful and wonderful time. Our rental was all it said and more! The sunrise and sunsets on the ocean were fantastic. The little roosters were very friendly LoL. But that was all part of the experience. Close enough to walk into town. And the sound of the waves really were soothing. This is where I plan to come back many times.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The home has a great layout with a large primary bedroom and good size second bedroom as well. The ocean views from the living room/kitchen and primary bedroom are wonderful. The walking trail was great as we used it almost every day. We were able to watch the sunrise over the ocean directly in front of our living room/lanai during our stay which we did every morning. A great quiet beach in your backyard a few steps to the left is what really makes this place special.

Our ocean front condo was just as described and we enjoyed the month of February there. It is well laid out, well furnished, clean and plenty of supplies were available. Pono Kai is large but was quiet. We loved being able to walk to restaurants and shops nearby. We walked the oceanside path every day--it goes for miles. The management company was very good, always a fast response, and the website made communication easy. I would highly recommend this unit.

This is a great rental unit. It is nicely furnished. There were a lot of little extras that you sometimes donāt find, for reapplied there were 4 rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom, Kleenex in both a judge roll of trash sacks and extra rolls of paper towels. The kitchen was well stocked, plenty of dishes, glasses in all varieties, plenty of silverware. There were little extras here also like measuring cups.My only disappointment was there was no beach in front of the ocean front unit. The Pono Kai has lovely grounds and there was plenty of parking places..the rental company was great, when we had problems with the AC which was due to a powere outage, They did an excellent job of walking me through the restart.

Clearly among the best-located units at Pono Kai--only about 50 yards of grass and a paved walkway separate you from the ocean. So comfortable, I was tempted to just stay "home" for my entire stay.
Also, had two occasions to contact management with special requests and they were quick, friendly and positive in both cases.

We stayed in July. Good things - Check-in was smooth. Location is excellent and unit faces the ocean and gets lots of trade winds. Other units had A/C units, but this has portable ones in be bedroom which was great. Unit was generally clean. There was an issue with a door screen and property management company was responsive. The pool is small but open until 10pm and grounds are kept clean and provides lawn games for families.What is however poor was the overall condition of the unit. Front door and closets had weather damane. The pots and pans and other kitchen tools were in terribly poor condition. Not much appliances other than blender, microwave. Coffee maker was dirty. We wished there was in-house laundry since the common units were bad. Also the home lacked sufficient beach or bath towels and the beach chairs and umbrellas were rusted and broken rendering them useless

We enjoyed everything about this property. Location to town was convenient & walkable, proximity to the beach was immediate & water views were amazing from the unit! The unit was updated & well stocked. The beds were very comfy in both rooms. The ceiling fans were cooling & having A/C in the bedrooms was nice to cool off. Breezes in the afternoon helped cool off the living room in the afternoon. The resort property was very nice & full of fun amenities for my tweenage kids. Canāt wait to book this same unit again for our next visit.

The location of this unit is terrific. Ground level facing east so sun raises are on full display. Near walking path, easy walk to downtown Kapaa. Many restaurants within easy walk or short drive. A quiet location. There is some maintenance needing to be done. The shower head in the main bath is not connected to the watt, protrudes out. S9me windows are salted up or latch is broken making them hard to open. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes. The closet tracks were very dirty. The beds are very comfortable, the furnishings in good shape. Overall we had a great time and really relaxed.

This was a central location and was ideal for our vacation. The unit was a nice big open floor plan with comfortable furniture and plenty of seating. The bathrooms were spacious and had plenty of towels for use. The bedrooms were also a nice size w king beds and ample closet space w lots of hangers. The master bedroom had a perfect ocean view. The kitchen had All the dishes we needed and plenty of soap, towels and dish towels. However, the unit didnāt carry any additional items people often use like zip lock bags, tin foil or saran wrap, straws or panrty cooking essentials i.e olive oil, spices. They had plenty of beach towels and beach accessories. The grounds at Pono Kai are well maintained w plenty of BBQās. We loved this place for our family vacation and would return to this unit for future vacations!

We spent 2 weeks in Oct 2016 at this condo with another couple and the unit and Pono Kai resort were incredible! The view was exactly as pictured. There were a few updates to furniture since the photos including a higher kitchen table and a stainless steel fridge. Nice reading lamps in the bedroom. Property Mgr was easy to contact when needed to resolve a minor plumbing issue and accommodated our 1 hour late checkout. The reason for 4/5 on general condition and cleanliness was the windows and shutters. I'm sure the salt water and humidity make it extremely hard to keep these white shutters clean but you almost didn't want to touch them and they were a bit difficult to open and close because of the stickiness. One needs replacing in the master bedroom. Overall we loved the central location, beautiful grounds, beautiful view and wonderfully equipped condo! Thanks you very much for a great vacation!!

This is a well kept condo and is located centrally to the island of Kauai. Our stay there was delightful. No a/c, but having an end unit helped with the flow of wind off the ocean through the front and out the back windows. I had trouble contacting the rental agency through the office number provided, and had to use the emergency number for what I considered non emergencies. The blender was broken when we arrived, but the property manager replaced it with a much better one. The location was walking distance to many amenities, and though we were right in town, we were far away from road noise, and only heard the ocean! I would not hesitate to stay here again. The kitchen was well stocked, tho' the fridge was almost too big for where it was located.

The location of this condo and the view of the ocean was terrific, especially for the overall cost. There is also a great walking/biking path right outside your door, which we enjoyed every morning with a cup of coffee.Because of the location, size of the condo and cost, I rate the whole stay 4 stars but do want to note a few things on this property for someone considering another stay:1.) There is no A/C. I did not think to check for this so I was disappointed and uncomfortable on our arrival when we realized there was no A/C in our stuffy new home. The trade winds off the ocean were not blowing so with no airflow, we were miserable as we were settling in and cooking dinner. Once the winds picked up and we figured out a strategy with the fans, we were comfortable the following days but this feature is worth noting as a downside.2.) The place is starting to be run down, not all the pictures are accurate, and the furniture/amenities could use updating. Different elements of the place are showing wear and tear and need some love and care. There is rust on the windows, closet doors are broken, and it could use a really good deep cleaning. Also, the pictures online for the property show more decor, etc which is no longer there. The furniture inside and out seems old and worn, some updating would be ideal here.3.) We had ants in the kitchen. Not an overwhelming problem, but an annoying one.Overall, the town of Kapa'a was a great spot for us to access the island without being surrounded by hotels, and we enjoyed the condo in the end, especially considering the rate. I would recommend this property, but with the caveats noted above.

Overall, the condo was equipped with everything we needed for our stay, and the space air conditioning units in the bedrooms were greatly appreciated in the evenings to cool things down to a comfortable sleeping temperature. The proxity to the beach was unbeatable, and the view of sunrises sitting on the patio with a morning coffee were outstanding. The grounds were well maintained, and along with the pool, provided alternate activites. Being close to Kapaa provided for easily accessable shopping, afternoon activities, and dining options in the evening. If you're looking for a well maintained place to stay with excellent proxity to both the beach and the bustling town of Kapaa, we'd highly recommend this location.

This property was so comfortable and had all the things we needed. We checked in on Thanksgiving day and bought a prepared feast from the Safeway Grocery Store a mile away. Got to the condo they had the little things we need like salt and pepper aluminum foil, filters for the coffee pot. A well functioning Oven and kitchen utensils to put food in for heat and serve including our 14 lb Turkey. We had Thanksgiving feast on our lani. A nice big safe to store our computers while gone for the day. Beatutiful view to watch sunrises. Laundry was outside until but just down the cover walk way. The machines worked great. Property had lots of things to do , we were so exhausted feo. Hiking and exploring we did t take advantage. Folks were bbque ever night. Older crowd here at least on November property is quiet. I would have preferred more hooks to hang towels as the porch gets ocean spray and are more wet in the morning then when we put them outside. Folks have left sunscreen and bug spray. Beach chairs and towels . Bedrooms have ac units and living room a nice cross breeze. Location divides island in half. MAKE reservations for tours that are important to you before you arrive CoVid has reduced hours of most things. Check actual websites of location to see ever changing requirements and fees. 5 pleasant evenings . Thank you

The condo was very nice. Clean and actually quite spacious. It is just a few yards from the beach. The condo is located in a large resort style setting with access to a pool, croquet, ping pong etc. Walking distance to town but be aware almost everything closes at 4pm. Only negative of the condo is the internet. Almost impossible to play Netflix etc for the kids. Also master bedroom TV is old and faded.

outstanding location, ground floor unit. Condo complex has mostly older visitors, so fairly quiet. Pictures are accurate. Nice to sit on the Lanai at sunrise...
Beach access is very close, and we found the walking/biking trail tobe great for am and pm walks.
The unit does not have a/c, but wasn't really an issue as the temps are moderate. Internet and TV and Bluetooth speaker all worked great. Surprisingly quiet.
One highlight was a huge bowl of tropical fruit - it took us a few days just to identify them all. Also check out the herb garden (yes you can take samples) over by the pool.
beach gear and snorkel stuff on site. kitchen ware was servicable.
It's just a very easy place to hang out and use a launch spot to other areas of the island.
Traffic - some may complain about slow traffic to other areas of the island. Fair enough. We used the bypass road. Everywhere we went, we found that traffic was slow at certain times. It's simply one of the challenges for Kauai overall.
Doug's communications were accurate and timely. easy to contact and local on site support as well.

We have been at the Pono Kia 3 other times and love the resort, this was our first stay in this unit. Great ! Doug has made sure everything is here from masking tape to a floaty for our grandchild. Well appointed a little dated but it feels like home great pillows ! Pretty hard to beat we booked next year already. Keep that personal touch and you will be a success! I hope you get to use it ? But not when I want it lol See you next year

The owner was especialy helpful and personal touches like the fresh local fruit was appreciated. Will recommend the unit to anyone who visits Kauai. The nearby Beach Walk restaurant became our favorite haunt.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pono Kai. The location was perfect for travelling all around Kauai, great golfing and walking trails very nearby, good restaurants just around the corner. The condo was very roomy and basically well stocked. The buildings are getting a bit dated but the ambiance was wonderful. We already miss the chickens "wake up calls". We would definitely recommend this property and already have, to another couple we met on site. Best golf course hands down was as at Kauai Lagoons, very friendly, smiling staff and a beauty to play. Also consider Puakea as best bargain and fun to play through this "Jurassic Park" setting. You MUST stop off at "Dukes" in Lihue before your trip back home. Enjoy the surfers, the fabulous food and view, and your last look at Paradise. Mahalo.

My husband, 2 kids and I had a fantastic week staying in this condo in Kapa'a. The host was very communicative during the lead up to our stay. It was just a matter of turning up. The place was spotless, and the location was fantastic. The ad gave an accurate description of what to expect. It was really well equipped for when we cooked up home cooked meals. Very close to the town and lovely restaurants. The condo is well positioned, we would head north some days and south the others, very close to all attractions. I have some lovely photos of the amazing sun rises taken from the main bed room. We would definitely stay in this condo again when we come back to Kauai.

First of all we arrived to an overloaded huge plate of exotic fruit from the island. The condo was spacious and clean and had everything we needed to comfortably stay for three weeks. The oceanfront was in the perfect spot on the water and right in front of the putting green. We brought our two year old and they provided a full size crib for her. The beds were super comfie and the master bedroom had the best view of the ocean with the perfect view. I will go back there every year. The owner was very kind and generous!

Just returned home from 10 great days in paradise! What a great place to stay everything we needed was there and the condo is very clean. The 4 mile bike path right out the door is awesome we could bike or roller blade every day. Kapaa is such a good location. You are close to everything. Doug made sure everything we needed was there and the fresh fruit bowl was an added bonus.
