The location of this property is perfect! It is close to 3 good beaches for snorkeling and the beaches are beautiful. It is also close to several walking trails and the state park. The property itself is beautiful and very well kept. The restaurants that are on site are very good except they are not open until 3. The staff at the resort are wonderful. The room is perfect for 2 people. The bed was very comfortable, and it was very clean. The view of the mountains from the patio were breathtaking. The resort is also a great place to view the beautiful sunsets while you're there.

What a view! Fantastic views of waterfalls, bay, ocean and sunset!!! The condo was perfect and worth the short walk to the parking lot. Loved having the air-conditioning. We loved staying on the North side of the island as it is so amazingly beautiful! Host contacted us often to see if we needed anything. Resort was great and had access to a private beach with lots of shade. We stopped by Costco for their great selection of spirits, wine and food, then to Walmart for a few other food items (both close to the airport) before heading to the condo. We would definitely stay in the same condo again.

Room was clean as well as comfortable. This particular room is first floor and on the end of the building so the lanai is a little tucked away however it still had a great view. Access to the beach was great and provided great snorkeling. The restaurant was good but the pizza place may have been slightly better. No complaints!

We love Hanalei Bay Resort. It's getting a bit older for sure and we miss the pool bar, but it's such a perfect spot, and this condo is the nicest one we've stayed at. Gorgeous view, nice furnishings, and close to the beach.

Wonderful room and view, resort is fantastic and staff is very helpful. One thing I would keep in mind is that there is a connecting room so you can hear the neighboring guests pretty clearly. Other than that everything was perfect!

This was our first time to Hawaii and I have no regrets about our decision to stay in Kauai for 10 days. This condo at HBR was spectacular. I do believe this building has the best views of all the bldgs in the whole resort. The minute we stepped on the lanai, I knew this would be an amazing trip. Our unit was clean, plenty of space for the two of us and well stocked with beach chairs, kitchen items and a comfy bed. We liked both the comfy chairs and the bar stools on the lanai. We walked down the hill to the beach each day and decided that the walk back up the hill would help us work off our vacation dining, but the golf carts were visible and easy to contact for anyone needing a ride. We walked over to 1 Hotel one evening and enjoyed walking through that property, but HBR was equally stunning in landscaping and flowers and pools. We loved the restaurant Happy Talk - great drinks, fun live music and a gorgeous view of the property. Truly a special location and a fabulous unit!

We arrived after 9pm and it was pouring rain but check-in was very simple at the HBR front desk, staff was friendly and helpful and a golf cart helped us with all our luggage to our unit. We received HBR towels for pool/beach and wristbands for resort access. Unit is large, clean and well-stocked. All linens, towels, kitchen & bathroom supplies were great. We stopped at Costco near the airport on our way in for initial food supply. Kitchen has everything we needed including a few seasonings. Closet was stocked with snorkels/masks/fins, boogie boards, pool noodles, tennis racquets and balls. Outside, the view never disappointed! Rainbows, mountains, ocean, daily visits from chickens, geese, birds, even had a gecko visitor on our balcony wall. Ate every meal on the deck… did not use the AC at all, just slept with screen doors and the sounds of nature/rain and perfect temperature each day & night. We walked to/from the beach each day, but it’s a fairly steep walk each way so you can also take advantage of the HBR golf cart if you prefer. We would stay here again!

I rented 8231 as an adjunct to 8232. Both units are impeccably and tastefully furnished with modern appliances. The unit lives true and exceeds the beauty of the listing pictures. One of my guests and I stayed in another unit previously that had a bigger view of the ocean, and we both agreed that 8232/8231 would be our first choice moving forward. The view coupled with the interior and lanai furnishings are top notch.

We loved our stay here. The view from the lanai was amazing! We woke up to rainbows above Hanalei almost every day. The shared beach at the end of the path was really nice. Had some really nice swimming and snorkeling areas and loved having the cabana type beds to lay on. And appreciated the golf cart rides back up after a long day . I misread and thought there was a washer/dryer but there’s not. That was my mistake. The hospitality room was nice to warm up anything we needed as microwaves aren’t allowed. The property is beautiful. Nothing fancy about the room but the bed was comfy and again the view was magical. Perfect resting place for us at the end of the day. Also nice big jacuzzi and pool on property! Watching the sunset from the fire pit or the beach was amazing!

Hanalei Bay Resort is a great place to stay on the North Shore and this condo is First Class all the way! The views are incredible!! We originally rented this condo on 2015 when my now husband proposed and this latest trip (April 5, 2024) we got married on Pu’u Poa beach (walking distance from the condo down the trail). It was perfect! Even with the rain! We definitely will be back!

Loved it here! Amazing views of the mountains/bay and great sunsets from both the room and just about everywhere on the property. Not overcrowded at all. Walking path down to an awesome, quiet beach as well. Restaurant on-site was great and so picturesque. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy driving access down to Hanalei bay. The view, the location, the service. Having two connected rooms side by side is absolutely amazing for families with kids. Keep their mess separate from yours :) . Kitchen is not big but enough to cook meals and the fridge is big enough for a family of 4. THE VIEW. Did I mention the view? Resort staff are available 24/7 by text and very responsive. Having two restaurants and a gift store (coffee shop / beverages) is invaluable. I had to be dragged out of the room to leave :). Yes the furniture is not modern but who cares when you have that view & service! Walk or take a golf cart to the beach. North side of Kauai is just something else. True tropical paradise. MAHALO.

Hanalei Bay resort is great, Just Pick A Different Unit To Stay In.
We traveled with family of 5 and carry-on only luggage with 2 changes of clothes for a week in Kauai, specifically searching for units with a washer/dryer inside. Upon check-in we saw a sign on washer saying it was not working, and also found out the resort doesn't wash your bath towels. So we spent 4 hours up the hill at a coin-op with the owner not providing any alternative or relief.
Also what kind of luxury rental only gives you 3 rolls of toilet paper and 3 dishwasher pods?
"We only provide the initial supply. If you need more, you can pick up some at the front desk for a small fee I believe". Why wouldn't the owner just tell us the day before about the washer, or stock the room appropriately for a long stay? Boggles my mind

I had a wonderful experience. The room has a beautiful view, a comfortable bed, a small amount of dining supplies, plates, silverware, knives etc, and a couple of portable mixers(I used to make my fruit smoothie in the morning. The walk to the room meanders through the HBR property for sure, but I didn't mind at all. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

This place was nice for a night or 2 in a pinch but it is very much a bougie resort. There weren’t very many restaurant options as a lot of places in the area were permanently closed and the restaurant on the grounds was busy with all the guests. There was no way to prepare our own food in our room either. That said the staff on the grounds were nice, the front desk staff however were not very helpful. They bombarded us with pamphlets upon check in and gave us pool towels and did not mention that we needed to return these to the front desk in order to check out. I’m sorry if this seems obvious to some but I have never been to a resort before. I also called the front desk prior to check out to let them know we were leaving and again they did not mention the towels. Upon getting to the front desk they said we must go back to our room (which was not close) to retrieve the towels. They made it a point to be rude about it too. I of course didn’t say anything at the time and just did as they asked. The best part about this place is the pool which is a lot of fun. Unfortunately due to all the negatives we will not be returning. Kind of a bummer but this place really put us off on a resort style stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hanalei Bay Resort. We rented all three units, and they were spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed for a week’s stay. The highlight, however, was the view. It is even more impressive than the pictures, and you have a perfect vantage point to watch the gorgeous sunsets. It was difficult to motivate the family to leave the unit to head into town for dinner. We also enjoyed walking to the beach, playing tennis and the pool. Thank you for a memorable week!

Only problem was terrible Wi-Fi that was never over 5mbs, often dropped completely, and required using our own hotspot. Several calls to the ISP and property management; even a visit to the front, changed nothing. Still a wonderful property.

First thing that you see when you walk in is the view! Then you can hear the birds and rain as it allows you to take that long deserved nap after travelling. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and I enjoyed the plush carpet to walk on. Everything about this property was awesome. Parking was a little far but the resort is so great about sending over transportation if you call and ask. The hot tub and pool were so cute and really felt like you were swimming in the falls. My only regret is I didn't spend much time at the actual resort as they were too many adventures to do on the island. Don't skip this good deal the view alone was worth every penny!

A beautiful place to spend a week with my grandkids. Spacious home with plenty of rooms and bathrooms. Quick 5 minute walk to beautiful private beach, steps away from tennis and pickleball courts, and a wonder pool to just relax and swim in. Well equipped kitchen made meal prep very easy..Best part for Nana was spectacular views of the ocean and mountains in every direction you looked.

We were excited to visit Princeville and we figured the condo would be nice, but we were wowed when we walked in and saw the sweeping view of the mountains and ocean from the unit’s wide lanai. We would have been fine just sitting out on the lanai to watch the surfers and the sunsets, but we also enjoyed the resort’s grounds as well as the proximity to the Kalalau Trail in the Napali Coast Wilness Park, just a few miles away. As an added bonus, the condo was well-stocked and comfortable and the property owner was very easy to communicate with. We plan to come back as soon as we can!

The resort itself has a gorgeous location , but my experience with the actual room and property management on VRBO was far from pleasant. I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the room I picked was a disappointment. The troubles started with the TV not working on the first day, followed by a persistent musty and moldy smell that was falsely claimed to have been removed. The pungent odor lingered throughout my stay, making it unbearable. To make matters worse, there was a power outage on the first evening and the bed that folds down is also semi broken, with miscellaneous lamps missing light switches as well.
Being a local resident, I had to stay at this property because my home was being tented for termites. After enduring the strong smell for three days, I reached out to the property manager for some form of compensation. To my dismay, the manager's response was inadequate. Instead of offering a suitable solution, I was told I could check out and be refunded. However, that was not a viable option for me. The only compensation provided was a meager $50 check, which was a TINY fraction of what I had paid for the week-long stay.
Normally I would never ever complain like this but considering the unpleasant conditions and lack of proper compensation, I strongly advise against choosing this property for your stay. Just hoping they’ll return my deposit back in a timely fashion.

It's a simple, but beautiful room, with a stunning view. No kitchen, but there is a small fridge for drinks and snacks, and a coffee maker. The water didn't get as warm as I wanted it to (we went when it was rainy season still - around 20C and I like my showers a little warmer than lukewarm.)

Firstly I want to say that the resort is close to paradise. Beautifully planted and maintained grounds with orchids and birds, stunning swimming pool and hot tub with little waterfalls, a calm beach with snorkelling to walk down to (or catch a ride upon request), a great pizza restaurant as well as a bar with restaurant all on site. Easy parking with service to get you to your condo, and the most amazing views of the ocean and mountains. The condo itself was clean and bright and perfectly fine for two people. So my only issue is that there’s nothing for cooking in the condo. To be fair that is what’s advertised but there’s space for where a microwave should be, and a toaster would be so simple to add. That and a few extras like Kleenex and moisturizer. But there were beach chairs and a cooler to use. Overall it was fantastic. It’s just that it could be even better with a couple of items to do some basic cooking other than the resort grills.

Was listed online as 1,324 square feet, but in reality was barely over 500 (confirmed with the property manager by getting a floor plan). Although the unit was clean and had a nice view, this was a deal breaker and the inaccuracy of the listing was pretty upsetting. I canceled my stay and checked out early.
