This was my first trip to Hawaii and my husband and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. The view from our unit was spectacular. We woke up every morning to looking at the mountains and the bay. The room was just as listed and had everything we needed. The resort itself was perfect. The pool is very nice, The restaurants were very good. And the beach is wonderful. I would highly recommend the unit and would stay there again.

This was probably the worst VRBO experience we have had..so bad in fact, I don’t think we will ever do it again. The musty smell of mold and mildew almost knocked us over when we walked in the door. It looks like there was a significant water issue because you can see the base boards and the bottom of the doors were starting to peel and come apart. Every time we flushed the toilet we held our breath hoping it didn’t overflow. Blankets covering the couch?! Looked like we were staying with an elderly family member. The view off the deck was very nice. It was the only plus. we could literally hear every word the people staying next to us said…so, pretty sure they heard us as well. This place needs a major Reno and until they do. They will get horrible reviews. It’s very obvious the property owner knows these issues exist and simply doesn’t care. It’s nothing short of a money grab

We loved staying here and definitely come back. Hanalei Bay Resort is a huge property and many units need to get golf cart rides from the parking lot to their unit; however this unit is right next to the parking lot, overlooks the pool, and has a beautiful ocean view! The room has beach chairs and snorkels which we enjoyed using. The private beach is less than a 10min walk from the unit (or you can get a ride) and it is quite beautiful. I highly recommend staying here!

Hanalei Bay Resort is beautiful and is in a great location. However, most of the units there are individually owned and operated, so certain units are nicer than others. This unit was definitely outdated and was in need of a thorough deep clean.
There were stains on the walls, the curtains were dirty, shower grout and curtains were disgusting, the mattress was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on, and there was a cockroach in the bed to greet us.
Communication with the host was a nightmare, as they ask you to download their third party app instead of communicating through Vrbo. I was very frustrated throughout the process.
I would NOT recommend this property, but would suggest finding another unit at Hanalei Bay Resort.

Home was nice and fully equipped. Staff driven golf carts to take you to different areas of the resort, nice walking paths. Home cool with AC. There are a lot of extra charges staying at the resort that added up to over an extra $200 for 3 nights- so just pay attention! Parking was not easy- 2 nights we rode around trying to find a place to park. We enjoyed the stay there and did not begin to use all of the amenities.

The resort itself is very beautiful- this unit is a different story. This unit needs a good deep clean. When we arrived there were cobwebs, multiple surfaces that were dusty, bugs in many places, little dirt specs on the comforter, and the tub/shower was filthy. After we showered the tub was also clogged so water was past our ankles any time we showered. We messaged Vacasa to know and they got us in contact with the property manager. They said they would have someone come do a quick wipe down of everything and have maintenance fix the drain. The only thing they wiped down was the tub - everything else was still dusty and overall just unclean. The shower was unclogged for about one shower then it went back to how it was before where it still wasn’t draining. We asked for an early check in and they said it wasn’t available- no big deal. We also asked if we could get a late check out. Vacasa told us that even though no one was checking in after us that it wasn’t available since we didn’t ask two days before check out. Overall just really unsatisfied. If you’re wanted to stay in Hanalei Bay, go through the resort itself and skip the hassle of dealing with Vacasa.

When we arrived to the condo there was a very strong musty smell even though the condo appeared very clean. We discovered the wall behind the master bed was full of water damage from about halfway up the wall down to the floor. The wall was soft and peeling with black discoloration behind the paint. We notified Steve immediately and provided photos of the damage. The manager of Hanalei Bay came out to look at the wall and confirmed it was a wall drain that was leaking.
Because this is a private rental the resort can not move you to a new unit if anything like this happens. Steve was quick to send an extra pair of sheets for the air mattress but was not responsive after that and was not open to any reimbursement. We were unable to use the master bedroom due to the water damage and had to sleep on an air mattress in the living room. Both my husband and I ended up getting sick in this unit.
The manager said he was very surprised the water damage had not been reported already. Hopefully Steve will take care of this issue as quickly as possible. Until it is fixed, I would avoid this unit.

We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here. We have been to the resort before and appreciated being able to stay in this rental unit with a small kitchen and beach chairs, coolers, etc. provided. The views are incredible, and the on site pool and short walk to the beach are wonderful. Thank you for a great stay!

Even better than our first trip last year! The recliner/casual furniture was an exquisite addition to the lanai. As always our host and property were phenomenal! Two full weeks of amazing views abd pure bliss. Check in/chevk out process was seamless and everyone was very polite and courteous.

Hanalei Bay Resort had wonderful amenities, the tropical pool with waterfalls and lush tropical plants and the grounds were immaculately kept. The Happy Talk bar and grill had great food, live music and he views from it were fabulous. The studio was decorated so nicely, very updated, so clean, king size bed/pillows were very comfortable and the bonus was the incredible view from the large Lanai. We saw double rainbows a couple of days, but sitting on the lanai viewing the waterfalls off in the distance and the pretty bay with mountains in the backdrop was the highlight.
It is a studio, with no kitchen, but the owners have added a small portable frig, microwave, coffee pot along with basic dishes. You do have to wash any dishes in the bathroom sink which took a bit of getting used to but it was nice having plates, cups, silverware etc.
Owner was very responsive and so nice.
Highly recommend this unit and Hanalei Bay Resort.

“I am so happy I chose this place. The resort is wonderful, and the location is magical, surrounded by beautiful views! This studio was perfect for me. The best part is the view!!! It’s a small, cozy studio that’s ideal for a solo traveler or a couple. The bed was super comfortable, and there was a large selection of books, including a Kauai guide. The small kitchen was just right for me, and I loved enjoying my meals on the balcony with the perfect view! I’m glad I stayed here, and I will definitely be back to the same place!”

We loved this unit in HBR. It has the most breathtaking view of Hanalei Bay. It is wonderful waking up and walking around the property. It has all the amenities that you need and is close to a pool with kitchen and grilling facilities. It is 10 minutes walk to a lovely beach with stunning sunset. HBR is the most beautiful resort in the island so being able to stay here is special. Check in and out is easy and all the staff is helpful. We will definitely stay here again. Booking with vacasa is also highly recommended. Mahalo!

Well, I'm serious. We've stayed at this place probably a dozen times in the last 15 years. It's fantastic - too many things to do a review justice. The place itself is wonderful. We literally feel like we're living in Kauai when we stay there. It has everything we need. Also, the view of Hanalei Bay and the ocean can't be beat. The sun sets outside of the back yard. It's magical. We also love the proximity of this place to so many other places we love - like Queens Bath and the hiking all around the area.

Our room was perfect for a week-- excellent views, love the shower fixtures, awesome mattress. We thought it was a great value, and especially loved the easy walk to the beach and access to Hanalei 1--- the coffee shop. Would love to return soon- had the best time!!!!

This unit has a beautiful view and is comfortable for 2 people. However, it is showing it's age and needs a bit of updating. My husband and I needed to work every day while we were there and this was challenging since there is not a desk or writing table. We accomplished 2 work stations by one of us on the lanai at the high top small table small table and inside using the bedside table. The "kitchenette" is just a small refrigerator, coffee pot and a microwave in the closet. As this is a private property on the resort, you can't get more towels, replacement wine openers, ironing boards, etc., if needed. We were left one hand towel and one wash cloth for 2 people for a 4 day stay. Not worth contacting the property manager as it was a minor inconvenience but it would be nice to have more towels.
We had never been too Kauai and absolutely loved it. Definitely would come to this island again.

This property is even more beautiful in person. Everything about the condo was accurately portrayed. It had everything we needed and then some. It’s spacious, designed well and clean. There was plenty of beach gear to use as well. The views from this place are unmatched. I also loved that the property was part of a resort with access to restaurants and a nice pool. The beach was shared with the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay so felt like a little private beach. The only downside to this place is the steep walk up and down to the beach. This was not a big deal for us. Also, they have a golf cart you can call to take you to and from the beach. I say book without reservation! I would definitely stay here again.

We were immediately wowed from the minute we walked into this property, the views are just incredible! It was very clean, had everything we needed for the kitchen and laundry and included beach equipment as well. Sitting on the Lanai and taking in the beauty as well as the bird sounds were the favorite parts of our stay but we also loved the amazing pool area, and Happy Talk restaurant, and had no issues with the walk although the cart transportation was always available and very easy to secure. We found everything true to the listing. This was a special place and we will be back someday!

My partner and I loved the room and the view and accommodations.I also feel very deceived and frustrated. I will share the accounting. The description states there are extra fees at the resort, and lists them. Thats after the $200 cleaning fee and random host extra fee of $31. Ok then it states there is $20/day extra and $25/day extra and GET tax per day. And $50 extra to check in, and Another check in fee of $7., andThen the $500 deposit that wasnt mentioned, i come to find out theres also a $245 charge from the resort with no explanation in it and an additional stream of 14% transient taxes per person per day! I am still battling w VRBO but they blame the host for the deception, then the host i try to contact doesnt respond and then blames the resort. So everyone kind of blaming anf lying but mostly just taking my money with no disclosure and in one case absolutely no explanation for $245.All total, i my CC was billed just under $1800 for 3 days of stay, and im just hoping to get ny $500 deposit back. This ad and this disclosure was and is atrocious. And at the same time i enjoyed the resort stay but would NEVER pay $1300 for 3 nights at a 3star resort! are u kidding me? Im going to keep fighting this but just want people to know EVEN w the host disclosure in the ad, THERE WILL STILL BE HUNDREDS MORE DOLLARS TAKENWhew ok so after reading the ad for $135/day stay for 3 nights

The view from this unit’s balcony is reason enough to stay here. On top of that, the space is clean and comfortable…just as shown in the listing. And the staff on property couldn’t have been more welcoming, kind and helpful. The location is great for those wanting to explore the North Shore. We enjoyed breakfast at Hanalei Bread Company. An intimate luau at Tahiti Nui. And a boat tour of the Nepali Coast and snorkeling at Tunnels Beach with Nepali Catamaran. We also enjoyed lunch at 1 Kitchen at the neighboring resort. And dinner at Happy Talk Lounge at our resort. We also enjoyed the beach on property and rented a kayak and SUP to explore the bay and river. Highly recommend!
