This totally remodeled studio condo (Hanalei Bay Resort, Unit 3106) overlooks beautiful Bali Hai, the pearl of Kauai’s North Shore. Watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay as you enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the slate covered lanai, then go visit the island sights, but be sure to get back in time for the sunsets! This studio condo is a one-of-a-kind within the complex! Accessible, and free parking (Oops, no longer free as of June 15, 2018-Ugh!) is just a few feet away from this first floor unit. The unit has been totally refurbished and nicely appointed with a modern Polynesian touch. The beauty of the unit itself, the view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai and the accessibility and convenience of this unit make an unparalleled combination. And it’s all within the fabulous Garden of Eden of the North Shore—the Hanalei Bay Resort. And, yes, the condo has various snorkel gear (including two of the latest Full-Face masks as shown in two of my pics!) and some beach toys for the little ones, and if you need more beach chairs or gear, just rent them from the pool shop and send me the bill. Oh, and I just added an iHome® Kineta Bluetooth® FM Alarm Clock Radio and Speaker
Two guests are easily accommodated in the unit. Since you’re sleeping on the king-size custom-made Indonesian “Pineapple” bed, you can actually watch the surfers on Hanalei Bay for awhile before getting up. You might even want to stretch out on the rattan lounge chair in the bedroom while you re-read a little Michener, Theroux—or even Crichton, one of our (now late) “locals” before turning in, or check your email on the free internet. (I was tempted to say the unit sleeps three because a child could sleep on that lounge chair.) Please browse the floor plan layout on one of the photos, and let me know if you have any questions.
After a day of sight-seeing you will enjoy the two-person, six-jet shower (It has a window facing Bali Hai, which includes a switch that, almost magically, makes the window become opaque for the shy, but alas it quit working. I’m trying to get it fixed, but everything is much harder in Hawaii!. Air conditioning is only needed once in a while, but it’s there if you need it. The unit does not have a washer/dryer, but there are nice new machines in the laundry room in building #2 which is right next to our building, #3 the Guava building.
A beautiful beach shared with the St Regis Hotel for great swimming and snorkeling is just a short 10-minute walk away down the hill past the tennis courts. And it’s all in close walking distance to all the fabulous HBR amenities like restaurant/bar/free parking near the condo/tennis/pool. The fabulous Happy Talk lounge is open from 3-9 pm serving light but outrageously delicious meals. And perhaps best of all, The Ukulele Bar, is the ONLY swim-up pool bar on the island!

NOTE: This is NOT a one-bedroom condo with a separate bedroom. It is one large sleeping room with a lounge chair, a table and two small chairs, two bed stands, an entertainment center and, a mini-kitchen between the bedroom and the bathroom.
NOTE 2: This bedroom unit includes a coffee maker, toaster, microwave, a mini-fridge, and a very small electric fry-pan for your convenience. And, of course, there are plates, silver, glasses and cups. Therefore, this is NOT a full kitchen, please do not rent this condo if you plan on cooking. (YIKES---BAD NEWS!! The County of Kauai has just ruled that these “lock-out” units cannot have any cooking facilities, so I had to remove the microwave and fry-pan. We are allowed to have coffee makers, blenders and mini-fridges, so they are still there. Very sorry!
NOTE 3: I have significantly increased your options for storing your clothes and things, BUT, if you are staying more than a few days, and you like to unpack and put your things in a spacious dresser, you will be disappointed!
NOTE about short stays: Although my settings indicate I will accept one or two-day resevations, this depends on the state of my calendar and the time until your requested date of arrival. I may have to refuse your request if my calendar is wide open and your dates are not in the next few days or weeks. I hope you understand.
Yes, folks, in response to the vehement comments of two past guests, the condo now has a new mattress! It’s a “Simmons Beauty Rest Silver Luxury Firm”, and as it sounds, it has a nice soft layer on top of a firm foundation. (Just for the record, my wife and I have enjoyed the old one for the last month. Since it was as soft and luxurious as ever we hated to see it go--partially because it cost us $5000--but I’m told most people prefer a slightly firmer mattress.) Anyway, enjoy!
And finally, I reluctantly need to inform you of three fees: First, the resort charges a $20/daily Resort Fee collected upon checkout; Secondly, in case you didn’t notice it, VRBO/HomeAway charges a 5-10% Service Fee, and finally, as mentioned above, parking now costs $6 per day. Sorry, about these.
Travelers who cancel at least 14 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount they've paid. If they cancel between 7 and 14 days before check-in, they'll get back 50%. AND IF THERE IS A COVID-RELATED ISSUE, YOU GET A FULL REFUND ANYTIME!)
