Reviewer Portrait

The following executive summary is based on a comprehensive and impartial AI analysis of guest reviews. Keep in mind that all units are individually owned, and review scores among units can vary considerably.

Set on Waikiki’s quieter Gold Coast by Kapiolani Park and Diamond Head, this condo building wins raves for its location and views. Guests love the oceanfront lawn and patio on the seawall for sunrise coffee and sunset watching, with easy walks to Kaimana/Sans Souci Beach, the Aquarium, Zoo, and Waikiki’s dining and shopping. Many units catch cross‑breezes and offer peeks or panoramas of the ocean, Diamond Head, or the city; higher floors have the best vistas. The vibe is safe, low‑key, and residential, yet you’re close enough to stroll into the action.

Units vary from compact studios to larger 1BRs and penthouses, and individual decor/updates differ, but many reviews note clean spaces, comfortable beds, and thoughtful extras like beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and coolers. Kitchens range from kitchenettes (often no oven, sometimes limited cooktops) to full kitchens; laundry is in the garage. Hosts and managers are frequently described as responsive and check‑in is usually straightforward, though a few found communication or the process clunky. There’s no pool, but some guests snorkel or dip via the seawall ladder and most walk a few minutes to sandy beaches.

Common trade‑offs reflect an older mid‑century building: some units feel dated, window/wall A/Cs can be noisy, and street/park noise or bright morning light can filter in (blackout shades and eye masks are appreciated in a few units). Parking is the other recurring theme—street and metered spots are typically easy overnight but can be tough on weekends/events; the paid garage is convenient but very tight and best reserved in advance. Accessibility can be limited (small showers, few grab bars, penthouse stairs above the elevator). Overall, travelers who prioritize location, views, and a calmer setting over resort amenities tend to be very happy here; just read each unit’s listing closely to match your needs (kitchen setup, A/C, view, and parking).

The room was well equipped. We used the hot plate several times and it worked great! The room even had some extra items like sunscreen and bug spray which we appreciated! The elevator did break a few days in, but we were there in the middle of a crazy storm and heard lots of elevators in other buildings were breaking also. The bed was pretty comfortable and the window ac unit kept the room cool. The hosts were great at checking in and seeing how things were going, but we did struggle a bit figuring out how to check in, as the instructions were hard to find on the app. We liked that it was close enough to walk to the beach and there is a little convenience store that was close by. Did not notice a lot of road noise and it was pretty quiet at night which was nice. We were able to find parking pretty easily across the street. Overall a great place and we would come back! Thanks!

The location of this property is ideal if you are looking for a quiet place to stay and be near Waikiki. It is across the street from a large park. The property is quiet and clean. It's also close to a small beach with great snorkeling. There are just a few (3) restaurants near by so meals might require a walk up to the action in the heart of Waikiki or a car to venture out. Property is older but maintained pretty well. There isn't a lanai in the unit but there is a spacious communal outdoor courtyard and grassy area that overlooks the ocean. Kitchen is small but perfect for very simple meals if you choose to cook. There are no cooking supplies aside from salt and pepper so be prepared to stock up on your own if you do cook (including your morning coffee). Staff was great to work with. I had a Vrbo glitch (no messages displaying to see check in instructions) and the staff was able to give me the details I needed over the phone. I would have preferred a slightly higher level of furnishings- the sheets were pilled and scratchy, and metal bed frame was squeaky. But the quiet location made up for that.

Great little studio with all the amenities you need. Perfect location just a mile from the tourist chaos. Fantastic communication with the manager. The mattress is in need of replacement, however, it was comfortable. We sleep with an eye mask, but for those of you that do not the room needs blackout curtains. The light is pretty bright from the neighboring apartment/hotels..

This place is exactly as advertised! We loved the proximity to Diamond Head as we didn’t rent a car and the fact that in 20 minute walk, you’re in the heart of Waikīkī. Everything you needed for trip to beach was onsite. Views were incredible. Unfortunately was a bit rainy while we were there but can’t control Mother Nature!

Host was communicative and genuinely seemed to care about our stay. Quick to respond with questions. They provided some welcoming amenities such as a couple of bottled waters and some snacks as well as stocking some handy supplies like laundry pods.

Excellent communication with the host, Mark, helped make a good stay even better. It’s a small studio, but the location is just what we wanted — by the water, close to restaurants and far enough from the bustle of Waikīkī. Ideal for a short stay.

Everything was amazing, I highly recommend this unit and property for a super chill vacation. The host was extremely responsive and accommodating, the property is quiet and convenient to all the best parts of South Shore, O’ahu, and the unit itself is outfitted with everything one needs for comfort. The cross breeze simply can’t be beat, we didn’t use the AC once! This was our second time staying here and we are already planning our next trip.

Great location, responsive host, many amenities. Host had complimentary bottled water, sodas, and chocolates waiting for us. We were able to get parking across the upper part of the park.

February 2026

The unit is in the best part of Waikiki - terrific location for beautiful walks (Kapiolani park, Diamond head) and easy access to the bustling parts of Waikiki if that's your thing, Kapahulu restaurants and Kaimuki food. The unit was incredibly well stocked for a studio and was very comfortable. And the Marella folks' communication was top notch. Would definitely stay again.

February 2026

What a perfect location! Only a short 10-15 minute walk to Waikiki. No need for a car. We walked or took an Uber everywhere - much more cost efficient than a rental car especially with the cost of parking! A convenience store -Russell’s - is very close by and has everything you need for breakfast and lunch items - and much more. We highly recommend The Barefoot Beach Cafe which is very close for meals from breakfast through dinner. They have live music every night. Our favorite is the group that plays Hawaiian music every Friday evening starting at 5:30. The unit, although a bit dated, was very functional and had lots of drawer space for clothes, a comfortable sofa and a very comfortable bed. I loved sitting in the lounge chairs on the lawn every morning reading and looking out at the ocean. The host Mark was very responsive to any questions we had and Patrick at the front desk was wonderful! He is a font of knowledge about everything Hawaiian and so very kind and helpful. He even helped when we had trouble finding the right channel for the Super Bowl; he was able to get the channel for us quickly. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely come back. We hope to!!! This place is well named and truly is a Gem of a Studio!!

Excellent bathroom and kitchen. Bed frame creaks loudly if anyone shifts in their sleep. Annoying and surprising since the rest of the place is pretty nice. Loud squeaky bed frame is the reason I could not give the place a 5

This place is filthy ripped stained carpets look like a body was dragged in and out if the bedroom. Dingy dark broken down worn out are the words that come to mind when staying at this unit. People rated the apt based on the view but who cares a out the view when you cant tale off your shoes because your afraid to get a disease from the fikthy filthy carpets and floors . Manager not responsive we arrived to a broken sofa and they tried to ignore us . I had to track down his personal email address to het a new sofa delivered. Horrible horrible experience .

It was in the perfect location for our family gathering. Close to everything without being at the center of everything. Had some internet issues but that just forced us to unplug.

February 2026

Wonderful, attentive host with clear communication style. The studio is as described, i.e. clean with everything necessary and great views. We were a bit bothered by the sound of the fountain down on the street and by the delivery trucks in the early mornings. Hence, some folks my need ear plugs. However, in comparison to Waikiki, which is horribly noisy, overrun by cars, people blasting their music, and ACs running at every corner, the location of this property at the Gold Coast is actually quiet. Overall, highly recommended!

January 2026

Great location if you’re looking to be in the heart of all the action Waikīkī and Honolulu has to offer. Walking distance to many restaurants, shops and of course the beach. This is a small studio apartment but it had what we needed to make our stay memorable. The photos are a bit deceiving, you do have a partial ocean view, the photo looks as though you are right on the ground level steps from the ocean, it’s actually on the 7th floor and there is no direct access to the beach from this complex. To note-the directions to obtain the access key fob were a bit confusing. The lock boxes are not visible from the driveway entrance to the garage, but closer to the walk up entrance to the complex. We arrived and did not know which parking space was designated for us so I reached out to the property manager. Response was “did you reserve a spot? If so check your email.” I did reserve a spot and never heard from the parking company until we were in the process of trying to figure where to park. Not helpful! Property manager, parking manager, 2 different entities and the email notification from the parking manager comes from an email that is not the name of the company you book parking with. This couldn’t be more confusing if you tried. I found the response from the property manager rude and not helpful. email sent from the parking company DID NOT indicate a parking space. They required a phone call because they “wanted to meet us at the complex to go over a few things” - not so.

Lovely condo with fabulous wrap-around views of Diamond Head, Kapiolani Park, and the beautiful ocean. The condo is very well appointed and extremely comfortable. Our host was very kind and accommodating. Thanks for a magical stay!

January 2026

We loved our 4 nights stay. Studio is spacious for two of us and equipped well, you can't cook meals, but good enough for making light breakfast/heating up takeouts. Enjoyed sitting at the table overlooking ocean in backyard. It was totally different Waikiki experience from what we had in past, no ABC store or coffee shops in a few steps away but we sure prefer this location to busy Waikiki strip. We did morning walk on Diamond head road to lookout, where we could see whales in far distance, swimming in nearby quiet beach. Host was easy to communicate and water/snacks gifts were great surprise upon check-in. Only complain is TV streaming/Wi-Fi sometimes got spotty, and dropped, and in-room safe had no key to lock, and we were told it is broken after email correspondences. It might be better to put a sign "out of order" if not usable. Otherwise everything you think you need is there, beach necessities, cooler box, laundry hamper, even umbrellas (for rain).Overall great place to stay, we love to come back.

The condo is clean and organized and host was very responsive. Bed i think is a full not queen its very high off the floor and very bouncy not comfortable . And also it would be nice to have some power plugs to use in the kitchenette you have to unplug coffee maker to use microwave and power is affected when using microwave.

Room and Photos need updating Our room was clean enough but it really needs updating. No bedspreads and the curtains are old. There is no seating in the room to have a cup of coffee except on the beds. The photos of the unit showed 2 high chairs and a table on the balcony which do not exist. Instead there is a chaise lounge which doesn’t work for 2 people. 2 high chairs are located on the backside of the balcony, but they are inaccessible. We have been staying at the DHead for over 40 years and this unit rates below the others. It would not take much to upgrade the place and make it more enjoyable for your guests.

Enjoyed our stay but would have appreciated a few garbage bags, hand soap , dishwasher tablets and paper towels for a one week stay. I gifted you paper towels for the next guest- it seems reasonable to provide those items as buying them for one week is not practical( way too many). I can understand a lengthy stay over two weeks but not one week. Otherwise great and would stay again

January 2026

The room and bathroom were very clean and had everything we needed. The bed is very comfortable. Everything you need is here for light cooking. The downstairs patio has an amazing ocean sunset view. Possibly one of the best.Parking was a challenge but Patrick, who is the desk clerk for Dimond Head holel and Residence (not affiliated with the Vrbo host), explaind parking. Street parking is free but limited, meter parking is free from 6 pm to 10 am. Very manageable but did require walking in the beautiful quiet Hawaii neighborhood. This was definitely not a resort but was perfect for my husband and my first trip to Hawaii.

Great stay, host and directions were clear. Perfect location out of Waikiki but close enough to walk. Great little nearby beaches, parking was easy to navigate just across the street. Lovely balcony views of Diamondhead and sunset views from the common waterfront area.

A great choice for a couple. We have stayed in this property before and always have found its location between Kapiolani Park and the ocean very amenable. This room is smaller than some apartments in the building, but has plenty of space for two people.

Our stay was way too short!! The building had easy access and we felt secure! The room had the most beautiful view of Diamond Head on one side and the ocean on the other. The elevator was a huge plus!!! We would stay here again!!!

December 2025

Cons: The pictures were somewhat misleading and not entirely accurate (the view from this room is vastly different from what one would expect from the 10th or higher floors of the same building). The couch is extremely uncomfortable. The shower is tiny. Not even a bar soap is provided. The door that divides the studio and the toilet is a louver door, so be prepared for your bathroom trips to be quite public. Pros: The room is spacious enough for 2 to pack/unpack. The bed is comfortable. No noise issues from other units or the neighborhood. Great location for walkers/joggers. Overall, I find the pricing reasonable.

Beautiful location. Calm, quiet, and close to many attractions. Free Parking very easy to navigate. Check in and check out went smoothly without any issues. Communication with owner was also very helpful and easy to navigate. We would definitely stay here again!!

Host was great, as was location, size & amenities. The issues were the souled carpet/rugs and the sofa broken down. Sitting on a hard metal bar. Towels were just right & kitchen utensils were good.

We loved our stay! Everything was as pictured, comfy, well equipped, and clean. The area was perfect for our family Thanksgiving getaway, away from the craziness of Waikiki but close to everything. Thank you!

December 2025

The view is spectacular! The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired, 185.00 fee isn’t put to good use! So many vertical blinds missing, the couch looks like it’s had a lot of action on it , dishwasher doesn’t look like it would work, maybe why there was only 1 pod for it. Baseboards and carpets well…. I’ll leave it there. It show very well in pictures I’ll say. It could definitely use some love. Parking is tight if you have a bigger car. Loved the area though.
