This property was everything we needed for a month stay. It wasn’t right on Waikiki where everything is always a hustle and bustle…yet it was close enough to walk if we needed to. View is great with big open windows. Kitchen was spacious enough to cook full meals as needed. The parking spot was CLUTCH. Hopefully this property will be available when we come back! We’d stay here again without a doubt.

I've always preferred staying on this side of the park. Outside of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The area is great as you can walk to so much. The building is well managed and the room itself is just as advertised. Beautiful view of both Diamond Head and the Ocean alike. I look forward to coming back next time.

The full length of the window seat to lounge on was great. The trade winds were great and air conditioning wasn't needed. This adult condo was beautifully decorated and stocked well with everything needed for a 30 day stay. It was super comfortable and perfect location on the beach. I can't say enough of about this place and the Manager, Mollye. I stayed 6 weeks and it was not enough. I have stayed in a lot of condos in different venues and this was the best!. Easy walk to Waikiki but far enough away to enjoy the peace and quiet of parks and beaches on the Gold Coast. Quiet with the exception of waves. Views of whales, turtles, monk seals, paddlers, sailboats, Friday night fireworks and the best sunsets in the world. I loved my end of day wine and sunsets. So many activities at your fingertips. No pool but the ocean is your pool. No gym but the park and walkways offer plenty of exercise. Recommend highly for stays over 30 days. I would not recommend renters with little kids though as the windows are wide open and the condo sits on the 18th floor. You can't go wrong with this place otherwise.

Our stay in this property was everything we could have hoped for. One wall of windows in the apartment faced the beach so we could listen to the waves and enjoy the gorgeous sunsets. The property was spotless and appeared to have been recently updated with upscale cabinetry and appliances. The kitchen was very well-equipped for cooking. There were more than enough bath and beach towels that appeared to be new. The property manager was readily available when needed and was very helpful when our arrival was delayed due to illness. We enjoy staying in #206! It is just minutes from the beach, and we have fun snorkeling. Being on the second floor is a real advantage for unloading groceries and walking to the condo. Kapiolani Park is right across from the Colony Surf which is very nice. Diamond Head is just across the street, too. Having a parking spot, in the ramp, is ideal. Having laundry and a nice shower is great!

This was our second time to make Colony Surf PH 6 our “home” for our stay on Oahu. We are planning on returning next year. The unit is lovely. The furniture, the bedding, the photos and paintings around the unit all combine to give a comfortable aloha feeling. With just 2 of us to cook for, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The unit was immaculate, clean and refreshing. The view of Diamond Head, the blue green ocean during the day beautiful, while after dark the view of the Waikiki skyline was spectacular. What’s not to love having a beach right outside your door!Our unit manager was always available to help us if needed. The Captain Cook office staff were wonderful to work with and could answer any questions we had.

This property is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is right on the water with stunning views. The condo itself is well appointed and we enjoyed watching the sunsets from the living room . The beds are very comfortable. Although one is not right on the hotel strip the walk through bKapiolani Park to all the restaurants and shops is so pleasant and only about 12 to 15 minutes. We walked from the condo to wherever we wanted, Diamond Head, Waikiki, and the beaches and shops.There is the nicest beach right in front of the condo and the fact that the condo is away from the hotels makes for a peaceful stay. We will be back to this condo for sure. Byron and Captain Cook Resorts do a superb job and we highly recommend both Byron and the Cmpany.

The view from this unit is its greatest appeal with sunrises over Diamond Head to ocean sunsets. The bed is comfy, the shower water pressure good, kitchen small but sufficient, apartment clean, management was efficient and immediately responded when we couldn't figure out our TV (our fault). We tried to get it again for next year but couldn't so took another. We'd stay here again if given the chance. Thank you Cap'n Cook! (Only downside is the lovely area rugs bunched up and weren't necessary, they got in our way when they rumpled after a month's living.)

We spent a month in this condo and had a wonderful time. There were a few issues which mainly involved the management company. The kitchen was not well equipped. There were 4 small glasses that were very fragile and cheap. While washing the dishes on 2 different occasions, one of these glasses broke easily while using a sponge on it. The glass broke and seriously cut my hand. I told the agent about the accident and suggested that they remove those glasses as they are very dangerous as they were cheaply made and easy to break. They had not noticed that the glasses were missing. Instead of being understanding that the glasses are a danger, the agent said that I had to pay for replacing the glasses. These glasses could not cost more than a couple of dollars. The agent has made this unnecessarily complicated and has been nickel dining me over these cheap glasses. I would not recommend renting through this property manager.

Colony Surf is a nice building. We've stayed there several times before in a studio that had been remodeled and were completely pleased. In comparison, this unit was a disappointment
Kitchen:
* No working oven
* Broken standalone convection oven/toaster (replaced with something pretty mediocre)
* Broken microwave (replaced with something functional but quite dated)
* Inadequate electricity meant that appliances could not be used concurrently
* A half-dishwasher... for a unit that is advertised as accommodating 4 people, this is a joke
Main Bathroom:
- Bathroom door did not close (handyman fixed)
- Shower design was insanely poor and caused water to pool and run over the edge; this resulted in the need to mop up after EVERY shower
- No shower mat in conjunction with above water pooling issue resulted in both my daughter and I slipping and bruising our inner thighs
- Only one towel hook (awkwardly placed over the toilet)
- There were two other towel hooks IN THE SHOWER, making them useless if you actually wanted a towel to dry
Master Bedroom
* NO DOOR!!! This really invalidates the condo as 1 BR...
* A laundry closet door that couldn't close because the machines protruded
* Headboards were loosely attached to the wall, which meant that rolling over or any movement in bed would make noise
* TV did not work
Overall:
* Water would get warm but never hot. This was very frustrating for showers and concerning re dishwashing
* No closet access in the MB and cluttered closets in the bathroom meant there was very little closet space... for a monthly rental
* Ceiling fans were hung very low, especially considering their placement in the middle of rooms. This was a hazard because an adult man with raised arms could get hurt.
* There was one cordless vac that couldn't keep a charge and a non-functioning iRobot.
* Elevators were consistently broken
* We checked in three days after our rental began and rugs hadn't been cleaned yet

The unit location is fantastic but the layout ignores the fabulous view. The kitchen had barely a water glass and the large counter which would have been very useful for entertaining had NO counter stools. The bedroom desk had NO chair. I paid up for the unit thinking I would enjoy having friends over for the view. There were only 4 cheap small dining chairs. The glass table was covered with a slimy plastic mat. We managed to have some fun because the hardworking manager found me odds and ends for the kitchen and borrowed some chairs from another unit. I do believe the management company should enforce some standards for stocking the kitchen- why am I begging for some water glasses?

Ashley, the prop manager was prompt upon check in and courteous. The unit location is perfect and you can't beat the view for city living. The condition of the place is poor - kitchen appliances were old and not cleaned, walls were scraped with black marks, countertops were stained, drawers were cracked and some couldn't close well, towels were shredding, bed spread had a large hole in it and the floor fan that was in the condo when we arrived was covered in thick dust as were the corner areas where the TV chords gathered. I sent Ashley photos of all the above right away. She did take care of the fan the next day and replaced a new one. She credited me a small amount for the cleaning I did myself as I couldn't use the kitchen from the uncleaned grease and stains. I appreciate that it's probably the owners that made that credit decision and not her.
Pros - besides and view, it's nice that they had beach chairs, towels and boogie boards to use if you need them.
I hesitated leaving this review because I don't like leaving anything negative but if I had known the condition from a prior review before I booked, I wouldn't have. However we did love the beach right below and made the best of our stay. We enjoyed our trip overall.
Parking is included which is great. As long as you are aware before booking, you will still enjoy it because of the other great attributes of the rental.

We stayed in this studio apartment in August 2021. When we arrived we were met by the agent who was very helpful. The studio was immaculate, lots of towels and extra sheets, full kitchen had everything we needed in the way of pots, pans, general kitchen items. We enjoyed the location, close enough to the hustle and bustle of Waikiki yet far enough away to enjoy the quiet of the small beach in front of the condo and Kapiolani Park. Because of the North and South orientation of the building, we never had the intense heat from the afternoon sun, yet it was light and airy with a great cross-ventilation. I would suggest that you might bring some spices as the apartment only had salt and pepper. We loved this apartment so much that we have already booked out 2022 trip!

My husband and I stayed at the unit with our two young children for an overdue month long vacation… Our flight did not arrive until 10pm, and by the time we reached the building it was close to midnight. Property manager was very nice, stayed up to waited for us, and provided clear check-in instruction over the phone. During our stay, property manager was helpful and very easy to get in touch with via text and responded to our questions promptly!
Now, about the property… we booked this unit for the amazing ocean view but when we checked in, we were SURPRISED at how breathtaking the view is in person!!! Pictures don’t do it justice. You can enjoy the incredible ocean view from almost any location in the unit. Our kids also loved that there’s a beach right downstairs!
The unit also comes with everything we needed and more! Kitchen supplies, beach items, and stylish furniture. Although there is no air conditioner in unit, the ceiling fans and wide windows help tremendously :)
Overall, this condo perfected our trip and we look forward to returning again for our next vacation!

we were very happy with our stay in #807 at the colony surf. the place was comfortable, the bed was nice and firm, and the kitchen was well-equipped. nice to be on 8th floor with cool breeze and some distance from the volleyball court (a little surprised they started at 7am some days). only suggestion is that ceiling fans need to be fixed or replaced. the one over the couch is barely functional and the adjustment chains on both are broken.

Everything about this property is absolutely fantastic save three. The view is phenomenal, the space is clean and modern, the kitchen is well stocked with all of the key items (except for a can opener), the beach is great (away from most of the tourists), it’s right next to Kapi’olani park with pickle ball. soccer, and great walking paths. The breezes that flow through keep it well ventilated on most nights and days. It’s bright and the open windows make for a great and quiet view even at night. There are only three things that I would change: 1) the bed is not comfortable. In hindsight I would’ve bought a memory foam mattress topper to provide more support, 2) the bottom half of the entry door has clear louvers, which limits privacy, and 3) the hot water in the shower/bathroom isn’t available much before 6:30 am, which made it a challenge when I was trying to work on the West Coast clock. Although these are the reasons why I can’t give it five stars, none of these were deal killers, and I would rent this place 100% of the time for any length of stay. It was great and we fell in love with this unit. If you were able to get a guest membership at the outrigger canoe club next-door, they have a great happy hour and fantastic ocean views. I am definitely going to recommend this place to my friends and family.

This unit was perfect for my stay! Clearly the owner has a heart for Hawaii and its people. I came not as a tourist but to visit family and dig deeper into the culture. #407 had a wealth of books on Hawaii and it was tempting to stay in and read them. But the neighborhood is perfect for walks up Diamond Head Road, exploration of historic houses and architecture and just for being in the moment to view Diamond Head and ocean activity from the unit. Everything was spotless and so well equipped. The layout was perfect for having guests in for dinner. The noise from the volleyball court was not an issue, but the HVAC equipment on the roof of the OCC was loud. Fortunately it was only on from about 7AM to 8PM. Do not miss watching the moon rise overhead and view it shining on the ocean in the morning. Back home, I miss the sound of the birds and the swaying palms. Thank you to the owner for allowing me to share in your beautiful home!I have a suggestion for Capt. Cook. A personal check in would have helped understand the layout and functions of the unit. Also, a call the day before checkout would have made it less confusing about was required. However, when something needed attention during the stay, Byron followed up.

An ideal place to work from home. I was able to relax and concentrate on my work while feeling the natural sea breeze and sounds. Every day, I was able to see turtles, seals, and a pup of the seal. Walking and jogging around the diamond head was really enjoyable. I would like to come back again.

We had an amazing time staying in Unit 302. The view over the beach and water was incredible. We fell asleep to the sound of waves every night and woke up to the hushed voices of the early paddlers/swimmers in the morning. Sunsets from the unit were perfect. The weather was cool and the breeze from the Diamond Head side cooled the entire unit, although I'm sure in summer months that it might be too hot. The unit is beautifully appointed; the kitchen is newly remodeled and the bed is very comfortable, and there are beach chairs and towels for guests' use. The access to the beach is easy and we were grateful the unit was on the 3rd floor when we were coming up the stairs. (There is also an elevator.) Brandon was very easy to work with and we loved the location, particularly since it is right next door to the Outrigger Canoe Club. We can't wait to return next year!

We really enjoy staying at the Colony Surf! Unit #206 is so nice since it is located on the second floor, making it an easy in and out. Also, you will be just a few steps away from the beach. A parking spot is available which is HUGE in Waikiki. The unit is very comfortable and and has a very nice shower. It is wonderful having a washer and dryer, as well.

The Colony Surf is located in the middle of the "Gold Coast" of Waikiki. Across the street from Kapaolani Park it is convenient to the Waikiki night life without suffering all of the noise and traffic. We loved our stay although one could not describe the property as "luxurious" with older furniture and kitchen appliances but it was perfect for what we were looking for and more affordable than other units in the same property. We will certainly return if possible.

We could not have enjoyed our stay more. The view bests the top oceanfront suites in the best luxury hotels at a fraction of the price. We loved seeing monk seals, turtles, and whales every day, waited every evening for the spectacular sunsets, and were lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the ocean. The apartment is impeccable, with excellent but unfussy appliances, nice amenities, and plenty of space, Mollye, the property manager, is responsive and pleasant. We can't think of anything that we would have changed and are counting the days until we can return.
