Hale O' Honu'ea: Stay in this beautifully furnished 2 bedroom townhome, with polished granite and stainless steel gourmet kitchen, 2 1/2 baths and 1 car garage and relax in over 1600 square feet of indoor living in a spacious open layout.
The tranquil Lanai off the main floor dining area includes a wet bar, Viking grill/rotisserie and outdoor dining seating for 6, as well as a smaller outdoor "coffee nook" with seating for two.
The floor plan here is ideal for privacy and comfort with both bedrooms upstairs away from the main living area and on far ends of the home, each with an ensuite full bathroom. You can feel safe with your family all sleeping upstairs, but you can also enjoy privacy from each other as the master and guest suite are on opposite ends of the upstairs hallway.
The master suite includes a den sitting area, ensuite with jacuzzi tub and private lanai that together with the downstairs lanai extends the living space to over 2000 square feet. Enjoy the view of the naturalized golf course landscaping and the 11th green of the north course in the distance. The daybed in the den converts to a twin or king size bed for the 5th guest if needed.
Your stay at Hale O' Honu'ea includes a gate pass to owners parking at the semi-private Beach Club with ocean-side restaurant, coral reef snorkeling and white sand beach. Covered cabanas and sunbathing chairs are on the beach for guests of property owners only, so all you need to bring are the towels, boogie boards and sand toys that we provide and your sunblock!
Water enthusiasts can rent stand-up paddle boards, surf boards, outriggers and other equipment adjacent to the beach or even join a snorkel, whale-watch (in season), scuba dive, or sunset cruise.
Our community, the Fairways: Just 20 minutes north of Kona Airport in the beautiful Mauna Lani Resort and ideally situated between the Fairmont Orchid Hotel and the Shops of Mauna Lani and the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. The Fairways is an impeccably maintained luxury gated community on over 20 acres adjacent to the Francis H. Brown North Golf course, one of two championship golf courses within Mauna Lani. Golf bookings are made directly with the golf course and are available 60 days in advance, with best rates booked earliest.
Amenities at the Fairways include a large BBQ pavilion, large and luxurious free form swimming pool, spa, waterfalls, and a fitness center with a/c.
Within Mauna Lani you can explore the lesser known 49 Black Sand Beach or one of the five white sand beaches and waterfront of the unsurpassed Kohala Coast, the historic petroglyphs and ancient fish ponds, and enjoy the free cultural activities offered at the Shops of Mauna Lani. Meet turtles swimming in the ocean, sunning on the rocks or those that are part of the Mauna Lani honu preservation program.

So much of what we love about Hawaii is the natural untouched beauty of the island. Hawaii gets most of its electricity from oil-fired power plants, and all the oil has to be imported. We've installed solar panels to lower our reliance on oil imports and in hopes that this small contribution will help reduce our carbon footprint on our paradise.
This is a no-smoking, no-pet property.
***CURRENT as of May 17, 2021: travelers MUST have their COVID-19 pre-test results - from a trusted testing partner - PRIOR to departure for the State of Hawaii. Vaccination is not currently a quarantine exemption although this may change this summer. According to state regulations, if the test results are not available before boarding the final leg of the trip, the traveler must quarantine for 10 days or the length of the stay, whichever is shorter.
For Hawaii County: Short-term vacation rentals (STVR) cannot be designated as a quarantine location except for visiting essential and critical infrastructure workers, provided quarantine restrictions are followed; and individuals meeting the negative pre-travel test exception under Section 1V.B and Exhibit B Section 4(a)(2) of the Governor's fourteenth proclamation. They also cannot be designated as a quarantine place for new or "intended" residents.
Travelers checking in to Hale O' Honu'ea during these Covid travel restrictions must provide the owner with a screen shot of the SafeTravels app quarantine exemption or County of Hawaii quarantine exemption for ALL guests on the reservation age 5 and over, before door entry code will be released. ***
The Fairways is zoned RM-4 and is a legal short-term vacation rental location. As required per Hawaii County Ordinance 2018-114, Hale O' Honu'ea is a registered short term vacation rental: STVR-19-351357.
All vacation rentals in the county of Hawaii are subject to the following “Good Neighbor” Policies AS PER HAWAII COUNTY ORDINANCE 18-114 (Hale O’ Honu’ea STVR-19-351357)
• Quiet hours are 9pm. to 8am, during which time noise shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors.
• Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
• Guest vehicles shall be parked in the designated parking area (garage or parking stalls).
• The unit shall not be used for commercial purposes.
As required by Hawaii State law, we have an on-island local contact whose contact information is provided in your check-in documents.
VRBO/HOMEAWAY WILL ASSESS THEIR OWN "SERVICE FEE" OF 4-14%. IT IS NOT COLLECTED BY OR PAID TO THE OWNER. The service fee is visible as a line item to the traveler in the price quote and in the checkout process. Please contact VRBO Customer Service if you have questions about the service fee.
The service fee is a charge paid by the traveler to HomeAway for HomeAway's services. It is not paid to the owner for the rental of the accommodation. VRBO/HomeAway's policy regarding the service fee and refund in case of cancellation is theirs and separate from the owner's cancellation policy.
HAWAII STATE QUARANTINE EXEMPTION CANCELLATION POLICY:
Hawaii Quarantine Exemption Requirement and Cancellations:
At time of reservation, the booking guest must provide names of all guests that will be staying at Hale O’ Honu’ea for any portion of the reservation dates.
The reservation is subject to State and County travel restrictions at time of check-in, if any are applicable. If no restrictions are applicable at the date of check-in, this separate cancellation policy no longer applies and the Vrbo cancellation policy at time of booking applies.
This reservation will be cancelled if the guest fails to provide proof of Hawaii state and county quarantine exemptions for ALL guests before 4pm on date of check in.
If the guests fails to provide proof of quarantine exemption requirements by 4pm on date of check in for all guests on the reservation (currently requiring negative covid tests for all guests staying at a vacation rental, and a vacation rental cannot be used for quarantine), the reservation will be cancelled with no refund.
If the guest provides proof of failed quarantine exemption requirements before 4pm on date of check-in, the booking guest can:
Once you provide proof of failed quarantine exemption, you can choose to
1) Request to apply the rental amount and associated taxes paid out to us to a future stay, less the $250 pass through cleaning fee which at less than 72 hours notice is non-refundable.
2) Request a cancellation with 50% refund of the rent and taxes but with no future stay credit. We can only refund rents and taxes paid out to us, not the Vrbo service fees (these vary by reservation and you would need to contact Vrbo for a refund of their fees). And again at less than 72 hours notice, the $250 pass through cleaning fee is non-refundable.
