Come and enjoy the wonders of the Big Island while staying in the comfort of our home. The Fairways is a luxurious gated community in the renowned Mauna Lani Resort on the South Kohala Coast of Hawaii. The South Kohala Coast rests in the protection of the rain shadow of the Mauna Kea Volcano which, at 13,796 feet is the highest point on the Island. As a result, the South Kohala Coast enjoys the most sunshine and the least rain on the Big Island.
The Fairways is a short 5 minute walk, in one direction, to the beautiful Fairmont Orchid and, in the other direction, to the Shops at Mauna Lani. The Orchid offers elegant dining at Brown’s Beach House, or Norio’s Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, or beautiful cocktails and sunsets as the conch is blown, at the Luana Lounge.
At the Shops you will find a gourmet grocery store and you can browse fanciful art galleries, purchase up-to-the-minute resort wear, sample craft beer at the Island Hopper, or relax over a wonderful meal at the restaurant/lounge on the balcony at Tommy Bahamas.
A beach walk of 20 minutes will take you to the Mauna Lani Auberge Resort Hotel just up the coast, where their ocean-front Canoe House restaurant delivers meals and moments you won’t forget.
A 10 minute drive south down the highway will take you to Waikaloa Resort, where the King’s Shops and Queen’s Marketplace offer additional variety for golf, restaurants and shops, while Hapuna and Mauna Kea golf courses are just a 10 minute drive north, with the acclaimed Hapuna Beach a must stop.
The Mauna Lani resort area claims 2 championship golf courses, the North and South courses at the Francis H. I’i Brown Golf Club. They are immaculate tracks. Additionally there are acres of walking trails throughout the resort, wandering through lush gardens and black lava expanses. One can examine the Pualo petroglyphs left almost 300 years ago by ancient Hawaiians. The Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles) are numerous here and one can see them sunning themselves on many beaches. The Auberge Resort raises baby turtles in their saltwater ponds on the north end of the hotel and releases them into the wild when they reach sufficient size, with appropriate pomp and ceremony, on Turtle Independence Day every July 4th. At certain times of the day throughout the year, you can see them being fed and listen to an expert about the care and raising of turtles. Also there are the Kalahuipua’a Fish Ponds evidencing the sophistication of the ancient Hawaiian aquaculture. Between December and March the Islands are visited by Humpback whales as they stop to deliver and raise calves on their journey between the hemispheres, and they present a show, breaching out of the blue waters between the Big Island and Maui.
The resort is also just down the road from Blue Hawaii who offer helicopter tours of the Kilauea volcano and the mountains, waterfalls and highlands of the Island.
As our guest, you will have access to the Mauna Lani Private Beach Club (see pictures), just a 5 minute drive south within the resort. While the beach is not private (none are in Hawaii) this access entitles you to park and enjoy the lounge chairs and cabanas, as well as the Napua restaurant/lounge located there. The beach is a protected enclave of sugar white sand, and the snorkeling is amazing.
Our 1900 square foot 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bath townhome has been furnished with guests in mind. The gourmet kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and endless cupboard space stocked with everything one might need, with stools at the kitchen bar to allow those not creating magic within the kitchen to bear witness and socialize. Just off the kitchen is the laundry with full size washer and dryer.
The dining table is set for six. Adjacent is the living room area with a 60” flat screen TV and Bose stereo system. Free wifi is available in the condo and at the pool. The lanai looks out on the immaculate landscaping of the Fairways resort and pool, and is accessible from either the living room or the master bedroom. It is furnished with dining table and loungers, next to the built-in Viking grill and wet bar.
The master bedroom has a King size bed and 40” flat screen TV. The master ensuite boasts a dual vanity, an oversize jet tub with separate shower and walk-in closet. Upstairs, the 2 bedrooms have 1 King size and 1 Queen size bed and a pull-out twin bed and a full size bathroom.
Just down from our unit is the flawless pool area. Near the pool are landscaped areas with waterfalls and a large hot tub. Overlooking the pool is the complementary Fairways gym and workout facility.

My husband and I stayed here without 5 children. The location was conveniently located so we got to Hilo and Kona easily. This home is located in a quiet community and we very much appreciated that. Foodland grocery store was walking distance. Beach club access was close and the beach wasn’t busy. Close to Hapuna beach which was our families favorite. Our 4 and 5 year loved the huge pool. Home had all the amenities covered. We were all very comfortable with our large family. We had no issues with cockroaches which can be a problem on the island. We recommend this location and plan to stay at Carolyn’s vacation home in the future.

We had a wonderful time staying here. The Fairmont has a public beach with snorkeling that is less than a third of a mile walk. We also utilize the tennis courts at $20 a person for the day.
The condo is fully stocked and a spacious place to rest at the end of the day or during the mid-heat of day.
The master bedroom is downstairs and quite spacious. The separation of space from other family members was wonderful. I’d highly recommend this place. We had a great time.

This is a wonderful place to stay. There was 5 in our party, my brother and his wife, my sister and myself and my wife. Plenty of room. We enjoyed sitting at the pool more than the Beach Club as the Club was crowded for the long weekend and the pool was gently used. We were here for a family wedding and that took 3 days of our time and the other days were for relaxing in this beautiful home. Really enjoyed ourselves after the year we went through. Highly recommend this property.

Being within walking distance of the beach at the Fairmont Hotel and to food shopping and dining, as well as short drives to golf courses, and numerous locations for shopping and dining was great. Having a community pool which almost nobody used was also a plus. The property was comfortable for the 4 of us and we were so relaxed after two weeks that we didn't want to go home.

We stayed in this condo as a family of 5 in December 2021. It was perfect for our vacation, and exceeded our expectations. Carolyn was an excellent host - her instructions were great and made things simple. The location in the Mauna Lani resort (about a half hour north of Kona airport, with the beach, a few shops, and restaurants within an easy walk) was very convenient for us. The pool and hot tub are literally steps away. But the condo itself really shined - beautifully and tastefully decorated, even in comparison to some of the other units in the resort (we travelled with friends who rented other units). The unit is also very well stocked, with everything from spices and staples (which made cooking a full Christmas dinner possible) to alcohol and glassware to beach equipment like chairs, boogie boards, and reef shoes. It was a lovely place to spend our holiday.

Well, I want to be totally honest with my review because I believe this could be an excellent place to stay with some critical improvements.
First and foremost when an owner knows major renovations are going to be done on the pool at the place this should be relayed to the potential renter asap. In our case it wasn't. We were looking forward to a nice big pool right outside our door for the two week stay and two days before we arrive the owner told us the pool would be out of service. She didn't let us know that in reality it was being renovated and would be out for 6 weeks, our entire stay. This was BIG.
Second, and most concerning was the entire cleanliness of the entire place. We had worn through sheets in the master bedroom and they had blood on them our first night so we had to wash them. The master bath had shower scum in the whole thing and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks or longer. The living room floor had major dirt on it especially under the furniture. When my grandson had one of his toys go under the couch it was so dirty when his arm came out from under it it was covered in dirt and lint. He also found a toy truck from a previous stay. The toilets throughout the condo you had to monitor and make sure they didn't get stuck or the toilets would run constantly. The fans in the Bathroom and living room didn't work the whole time we were there. Finally there were stains on the decorative pillows on at least two in the living room.
Now the upside of our visit was the size of the place was comfortable for me and my family which were a total of 5 adualts and 1 18 month old. The beach club was nice! A lot of nice amenities!! The beach gear in the garage was nice to have access to and the kitchen was well appointed with everything you need including a nice liquor cabinet to start you off which you are asked to replenish which is totally reasonable !
Would I stay there again? Yes if they address the cleanliness of the entire place , replace all linens and decorative pillows and hire a new cleaning service, address the plumbing issues and replace or repair the fans and have full disclosure of the maintenance items on the pool so people are aware of these things going in. This place is a lot of money and it's the right thing to do to tell people far in advance about those types of issues.

We are a multi-generational group of 6 ranging from 6 - 65+ and had a fantastic stay in this beautiful condo. The pool was a complete hit for everyone, and the Mauna Lani resort overall is a fantastic location and property to experience on the big island. As other reviews stated, the condo is extremely well-stocked with staples ranging from sugar and flour in the kitchen to boogie boards, chairs, umbrellas, coolers and more for the beach, making it for a seamless vacation experience. Carolyn is a very pleasant and responsive host. The master on the main floor makes it great for anyone with mobility issues and there is a handicap parking spot very close to the property. One member of our party has multiple sclerosis and rented a scooter for the duration of the stay and he found it very easy to get around—the pool is very close! We loved being so close to the gorgeous Hapuna Beach and enjoyed the beach club, but probably spent the majority of time at the pool…which is incredibly warm and one of the nicest we’ve found from any condo resort we’ve stayed at on the big island. Thank you to Carolyn for sharing this beautiful location with us—we most certainly would come back and stay here in a heartbeat!

Our family had a lovely vacation at Fairway condos. Carolyn’s condo was fully equipped with beach accessories to fully loaded up with condiments and spices. I’ve never seen a VRBO so stocked. She’s a fabulous host and was quick to respond to our emails.
We love the mauna lani location with Tommy Bahamas , Foodland and the Beach Club being in close proximity.
