The cottage was clean and very well stocked with necessities and creature comforts. We used the well-equipped kitchen to cook dinners and make breakfasts (get your groceries at Mana Foods in Paia). The location was convenient for the road to Hana, Twin Falls, jungle zip-lining, as well as spending time in Paia. It was wonderful to use the hot tub in the evenings. It was private and quiet (except for a few noisy vehicles driving on the road next to the cottage). The hosts were responsive and hospitable. We were impressed, and would stay here again.
Property is in a beautiful setting, well maintained and has the basic necessities needed for a successful stay. The lush, green surroundings along with the exotic morning birdsong concert made for a peaceful start to the day.
There are a few drawbacks of the location: there is a quite busy road right by the house with noisy cars and trucks speeding by and compromising the otherwise serene setting. It is also impossible to take a walk on the neighborhood roads, as it is too dangerous with the roads having no shoulder.
Loved everything about our stay. Cozy, comfortable, and quiet (except for the birds =) ). Thank you!
Very clean and spacious, I would recommend for others!! A+A+A+A+
This house was great! Cutely decorated and very comfortable. Lovely views with lush greenery around. Quick, easy access to Paia and the Road to Hana. Maggie was helpful and attentive to our questions. We didn't get to enjoy the hot tub but this was a great place to relax, listen to the rain, and watch the geckos hunt for bugs on the porch.
We loved our stay. Highlights include relaxing in outdoor hot tub at the end of a long day, breezes, bird sounds, beautiful grounds, and friendly hosts. We enjoyed the proximity to the start to the road to Hana, and food in Makawao. Also went on a great hike in the Makawao Forest Reserve. This is a great location if you are looking for some quiet (compared to some of the busier sections of island).
Wow, just wow. So peaceful, quiet, wonderful view down the yard to the ocean, complete privacy (bamboo and other trees separate the cottage from other houses; we only knew we had neighbors because of the car parked near that house). A nicely stocked kitchen, comfy beds, responsive hosts who provided nice shopping and restaurant suggestions. Very close to Hana Hwy so great for accessing it and the trails and views along it. Also close to Macawao and Paia, good restaurants and shopping. The grocery in nearby Haiku is perfect, with tasty local foods. Easy access to Lahaina and Maalaea for whale watching and snorkeling tours. Such a wonderful place to come back to at the end of a day (we started calling it home), and such a warm and beautiful place to stay when rain interferes with hiking! You will not regret staying here instead of noisier, busier places.
Very clean property in rural Haiku. Easy check in, responsive hosts and a quiet property with a hot tub. Enjoyed our stay!
We stayed for about a week with our two small kids. It was a wonderful place to stay! The drive to and from the place is beautiful, curving though the jungle. The place is clean and comfortable. Comfortable beds too! We are super happy with our stay. The property is gorgeous!
Where do I begin?! John and Maggie were outstanding hosts and their beautiful fur-babies especially Grace. We enjoyed peace, times for reflections, and privacy. Our flight left around midnight, and the host offered a room in their home to assist with the long wait, but we still had things on the island we wanted to checkout plus turn in the rental. Such a perfect vacation to the point that we didn't want to leave. Thank you J & M.
The house had everything needed for a relaxing stay, a little out of the way but well worth it. A nice big yard to stroll around, a nice view, my Son and Daughter-in-law enjoyed the hot tub.
This property is so beautiful. The owners are very responsive to messages. There is beach equipment to use. The chorus of roosters and birds to wake you up is the best. If you're looking for something off the beaten path (about an hour from Lahaina, right near the start of road to Hana), this is the place for you! We will definitely look for availability of we return to Maui. Thank you John and Maggie!
The house is really great! Home is about 30-40 min away from the main “airport” town so plan with that in mind.
Would not be opposed to stay again here. Hospitality was really nice.
Our stay was lovely! So easy to find and check in. The cottage was very comfortable and clean, with everything we needed. The grounds are lovely and lush and the place is very peaceful. John & Maggie were lovely hosts and were available when we needed (even though we didn't!). It was great to have the beach stuff available. We will definitely be back!
This home is in a convenient location for exploring the entire island. Very spacious for our family of 5, with comfortable furnishings, nice view of the ocean and loads of fruit trees to enjoy.
We loved our stay in this cute little bungalow! All the amenities of home. Beautiful foliage view out every window. We especially loved waking up to the sounds of hawaiian nature.
Perfect place to stay if you want to feel your really in Hawaii. Old style Hawaiian cottage couldn't be sweeter. Problem with microwave solved the next day. Hosts respect your privacy. Perfect location for getting around the island. Will book it again if we ever get the chance to return
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left was fantastic. It is a little remote from the activities on the southern side of the island but other than that there’s places damn near perfect. Tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood that’s quiet. It’s right off the road from Hanna which is a must do. Several of the first stops on the road to Hana are on the main road and really close by. If you stay here you’ll do a lot of driving but it gives you the true secluded Hawaiian experience that we were looking for. 10 out of 10 recommend
Beautiful location and house.
Everything was as the pictures with amenities like a hot tub, grill and washer and dryer. Quiet, cool and private. We loved our week here and will come here again when we can get the chance!
We loved this little house. It was a perfect place to stay. We felt like locals rather than tourists. It’s a beautiful property and we loved how much cooler it was on this part of the island. Wind chimes tinkled on the breeze and between that wind and the ceiling fans we were never too hot. It was a great kitchen to cook in and we bbq’d almost every night. It saves a lot of money not eating out for every meal. In the morning we woke to the sound of doves and silly roosters. We did have quite the ant problem the first day or two so we were very careful to put all our food in the fridge and kept the kitchen clean. Sharper knives would have made things easier but these are minor things. We would absolutely stay here again. We wish we didn’t have to leave!
We had a wonderful stay….we loved the property and the location!
This place was off the beaten path and exactly what we were looking for. It nestled in a small town called Haiku just up the road from the ocean and a little town called Paia which is a popular town for arts and great food. It is private and perfect for a romantic getaway. The owners lives on the property however have this bungalow positioned in a way that you’d never know it. They have the property beautifully landscaped with bamboo and many local vegetation surrounding to create the perfect private getaway. Very clean and stocked with everything you need for the perfect stay. I will definitely recommend this place to others and should I ever be back to Maui, this is my go to place.
We just spent 2 weeks staying here. It was spectacular! We enjoyed being in a cooler area out of the hustle and bustle of touristy Maui. It is a true retreat after a morning of beach time. We stayed with our 2 year old who loved exploring the grounds and gorged himself on oranges from the trees. Rented all baby stuff (crib stroller etc) through Maui Baby Rentals which was so convenient. Locally there is a great park for kids (4th Division Marine Park) and Haiku has great food. The house was spotless and the view amazing.
It's in a less touristy spot of Maui and it felt like a perfect tranquil getaway. The friendly owner was extremely welcoming and the unit was just as described, very spacious and a great private lanai where you can sit and enjoy the pretty view. Really lovely!
Lovely spot! Quiet and relaxing. Everything you require is stocked! Reusable shopping bags would be the only addition we would suggest.
Nice place. Great to have a private space away from the resort areas. So nice for the kids to have a yard to play in.
Very nice villa with all amenities. Spacious and clean. Pleasant contact with the owners. They have a very, very cute dog too.
As the house lies near to the road you have some noise during the day, though calm during the night.
What a great vacation, very peaceful atmosphere, beautiful view, serene, secluded and we loved the private lanai and book collection! The house was nice, clean, well stocked and baby friendly. John and Maggie are some of the nicest people we have ever met, legitimately the best hospitality on the island which made this stay a gold star experience. They went above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay wonderful and we are so grateful. Truly wonderful people. We will definitely be coming back and recommending to family and friends! Mahalo!

We enjoyed the cozy house, the yard and the privacy. It was a wonderful place for our family and we had a lovely time. Thank you John and Maggie ~ Moria Belsey
Perfect spot for our Hana road adventures! Host are so nice and accommodating! Landscape is beautiful and balcony was perfect for coffee or wine. Thank you for sharing your property with us!
John & Maggie made everything easy. I'd totally recommend their place for all my family and friends. I feel bad for being so busy. Next time I'd spend more time with them. They're great.
We very much enjoyed staying in this cottage in Haiku. The house had everything we needed during our stay. We relaxed in the hot tub during a rainstorm, which was very pleasant. The location was perfect for exploring Haiku and Paia.
Wonderful and serene place to stay on Maui. My second stay here.
It was truly a feel of "RETREAT!" The property alone will give you sense of peace and tranquility. The home itself was warm, welcoming, accommodating, and relaxing. It was a great place to start our day and to come home to! The fruiting trees were my favorite, be sure to always thank the trees for their gifts when you take what you need from them.
I will definately stay here again on our next visit.
Very quiet and peaceful place to stay. Away from all the big busy town stuff but close enough to travel a short ways to things to do. The host are very expedient in the responses and the listing is like it says. First Vrbo experience ans won’t be our last.
Great place to stay and see Hana Hwy and get away from the busy Kaanapali side.
John and Maggie's place was a wonderful place for my wife and I to stay during our trip to Maui! Off the beaten path, it offered peace and serenity away from the hustle and bustle of busier areas of the island. The sound of bamboo swaying in the wind and a friendly visit from Gracie the dog only made the stay all the more pleasurable! John and Maggie also make check-in and out super easy and offer a rental car for an extremely fair rate. I would highly recommended their place to anyone visiting the island.
We had a wonderful8 days with Maggie and John. It was so relaxing and beautiful. Close to things to see and do and so quiet.
We loved our stay here….it’s been so peaceful yet so close to everything we need. Love the furball friends that visit if you want and the cottage is perfectly situated for a relaxing stay.
Amazing property...I would definitely stay here again!!
The Cottage was perfect for my family with 2 small children and my son who was sick the first couple of days. Very comfortable. Especially liked the washer/dryer. Very quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely stay.
