The best overall rental property we've stayed at while on vacation.
Cottage is completely separate from the hosts' home on site, with landscaping almost completely blocking the view between the cottage and the home.
Beautiful tropical surroundings. Distant view of the ocean. Sunrise colors can be seen from the master bed. Sunset can be seen (somewhat) through the treeline to the west while on the master patio. Quiet, serene, private, and off the grid. Outdoor shower was a big plus.
Cottage is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean, and well-equipped (and then some).
Very close to Road to Hana; restaurants in Paia or upcountry are within a convenient 10-15 minute drive.
Gives the feel of what it's like to live on Maui; a great base for exploring what Maui has to offer.
Gracious and communicative hosts. We enjoyed the bananas they hand-picked for us, and some other goodies they provided.
Only negative is that the cottage does not have air conditioning, as many homes in this part of Maui do not. The first night we got there, the cottage was unpleasantly hot, but after letting in the cool morning air the next day - and leaving the windows perpetually open for the rest of the week - it became tolerable, albeit still too warm for our tastes. (They do have ceiling fans and an extra table fan that were very helpful. Outdoor temps were in the mid 80's while we were there.)

We loved everything about the house.
Spotless, surprisingly very well equipped, some basic supplies at disposal (very convenient when you travel), all you need to go to the beach that you can borrow. The open kitchen is incredibly nice and it is a pleasure to prepare the meals.
The master bedroom has a unique view, day and night : you can stare at the stars from the bed… you almost never want to fall asleep, waiting for the daylight..
Master bathroom very big and in excellent condition.
All is in perfect conditions, very well maintained, very clean.
Dave and Brigitte welcomed us as we were friends… and in 10 days we became friends. We loved their care, constant attention, concern of making our vacation unforgettable. It has been.
Highly recommended if you look for a little remote place, a little away from the crowd, to fully appreciate the Maui spirit.

What a wonderful stay we had here! It was perfect for us. So clean and organized. Brigette and Dave had everything we could need. The spot is so pretty and serene. The views from every window were so beautiful. You just lay in bed and are so relaxed and at peace. Super close to an awesome store/cafe (Jaws). We couldn’t have picked a better spot! My husband and I stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon and loved this cottage as our home base. The upcountry area reminded us of home (Durango, CO). It was very quite and felt very safe. The home was very clean and cozy, it was great place to recharge after a day of exploring the island. Easy access to all the cute country towns (Haiku, Paia and Makawoa) and right off the road to Hana! We never had a chance to meet the hosts to live on the property but they were very kind and offered so many adventure and restaurant recommendations. If you are looking to stay here be mindful that there isn’t much for cell service up there, which we didn’t mind and enjoyed time to unplug. There is great WiFi but making calls out weren’t an option. There is a landline though so if you do need to make a call you can. We would definitely love to stay here again on our next Maui vacation. This place is incredible. Everything was impeccable. Amenities galore, luxury walk in shower, gorgeous and peaceful views, bed was so comfy, and hosts were so nice and helpful! The only thing we were surprised to see was an extra person fee at the end of our stay. It says it sleeps 4 and we only had 3 people. Not sure why there was an added fee. I would just recommend being more specific on the fees in the listing. But again, we loved staying here!!

We enjoyed Brigitte & Dave’s place for my inter-island birthday celebration. The home was very clean and well appointed, with one of my favorite amenities- an outdoor shower! Brigitte and Dave’s home is idyllic! Spotless, spacious, gorgeous views and a great point from which to embark on the Road to Hana and Haleakala. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood away from the hustle and bustle and a short drive to Paia. The outside shower was a treat! We would highly recommend staying here - we loved it!!

The property is pretty, new and clean. The backyard is fantastic. At night, you can see the sky with a lot of stars. I had a good time with my family and we love to stay here. I will definitely recommend this place to my friend. BTW, the washer and dryer is in the garage, it took us a little time to find out. :-)

This cottage on a large quiet, private property with sunset and ocean views was what we have been looking for to experience Maui without the crowds and hassles of a hotel. There is incredible detail paid to the design and interior of the cottage by the owners and an architect. There is a fully equipped beautiful kitchen, primary bedroom suite, great room and beautiful patios. The owner hosts, Brigitte and Dave, were very hospitable. They also helped us with some tech issues we had. My husband, cousin and I could not have been better pleased in the selection of this Vrbo property. We hope to return for another stay.

Beautiful, tranquil, private, quiet, a safe neighborhood, the ideal location for Road to Hana, Haleakala, Paia, Makawao, the airport, and more. And so clean! Spacious: some call this a cottage, but I call it a house! Organized and very well eqipped. As is the case with most UpCountry homes, nature's a/c (lower temps, breezes) and ceiling fans kept us cool. Two big TVs, but we didn't watch them. We even picked fruit off the trees! I write this on our last afternoon, doing laundry, packing up, looking out at our horizon ocean view from our lanai. Even this moment is a precious memory. Enjoy Maui!

We spent 6 nights in Maui: 3 on the west shore near Napili and 3 in this cottage and we’d wished we spent all 6 nights here! The peacefulness of the beautiful property and ocean views alone are worth it but the cottage itself is also excellent. Brigitte and Dave had the place dialed in and were responsive even though we didn’t need help with anything. The Washer/dryer was very convenient too! When we return to Maui we’d love to stay here again.

We badly needed this lush island of tranquility on a quiet cul-de-sac street after spending a busy few days with friends upcountry. Birds and breeze were the only sounds, tons of stars at night. The house was spotless, thoughtfully adorned by the hosts with blooming orchids. Very well appointed kitchen with Nespresso, filtered water, a basket of local goodies, and a generous offering of olive oil, vinegars and spices. Super comfy bed, ample towels, wonderful outdoor shower. Spent meals in the delicious breeze on the patio. Brigitte and Dave were friendly and quickly responsive to any questions we had, but did not intrude. We loved this place. Just wish we had planned to stay longer!

The location was ideal as a launching point to explore Haleakala and the Road to Hana and the upcountry. My husband, our daughters (13 and 15) and I spent five nights in this beautiful house in July 2022. The property is large and beautifully overgrown with a lush lawn, palm trees, bananas and passion fruit. The view goes far to the sea. The house is lovingly and beautifully furnished, the beds are very good (the masterbed naturally even more comfortable than the pulled out sofa) and the kitchen is perfectly equipped and you have plenty of space for cooking and baking. Dining on the veranda overlooking the sea is stunning. The bathrooms are modern and very tasteful, the Hawaiian care products are very exquisite and make the hair soft and fragrant again after a day in the salt water. The shower in the master bedroom is very large - if you like, you can open the floor-to-ceiling windows and shower overlooking the ocean. Either inside or right under the outdoor shower. There is perfect beach equipment: large towels, body boards, chairs and a cooler bag to roll. Brigitte and Dave were very friendly, it was nice to talk to them about their home and the island and their tips and advice were very good. Thanks also for the delicious fruit straight from the garden!

Very pleasant property with beautiful view of the ocean and lots of outdoor seating. Attention to detail in master bedroom and bathroom is excellent, from the reading lights to the soaps. Well-designed outdoor shower that goes directly to indoor shower. Well-equipped for beach expeditions, laundry, etc. Be mindful of the description--accommodation beyond the master bedroom is a sleep sofa. Also note when that's in use as a bed there's no remaining couch for lounging. Hosts live just next door and are very attentive.

We loved staying at this property, Brigitte and Dave were fantastic and able to answer any questions we had. We particularly liked the location, it was beautiful being right on the edge of the rainforest and peaceful being away from the resort area. If you are planning on doing the road to Hana the house is a great starting location and allowed our guide to take us all the way to Hana and back which he usually doesn't have time for if we were staying further away. The occasional rain shower was nice to cool down and get a break from the sun and made for fantastic sleeping weather.

Our stay at this beautiful cottage could not have been better. We didn't want to leave! The attention to detail was better than being in a five star hotel. The bed was so comfortable, kitchen equipped with anything and everything you could possibly need, beautiful bathrooms with Mailie bathroom products (smelled amazing), incredible furniture & artwork adorning the walls & a breathtaking view. We enjoyed walking around the cute town of Makawao. A few favorite spots in Paia were Mana Foods (a fabulous local grocery store), Paia Fish Market (great fish tacos) and Better Things (delicious coffee - the owner makes her own Macadamia nut milk). Our hosts were not on the island at the time, but were very responsive. We hope to be fortunate enough to stay in this lovely cottage again and to meet you both. Mahalo!

Our stay at Briggitte and Dave's North Shore Oceanview Cottage was amazing. The home is absolutely stunning and is better than the pictures. We loved sitting on the lanai and watching the ocean. The showers in particular were amazing!

Pictures don't do this property justice! My husband and I stayed in this slice of heaven for our 25th anniversary and didn't want to leave. It's very roomy, beautifully decorated (so chic and tasteful), and so well stocked the only thing we missed was snorkel gear! Beach chairs, towels, umbrella, wonderfully stocked kitchen with spices, oils and even steel-cut oatmeal in the cupboard. Laundry and toilet paper-we didn't have to run to the store for anything but our food. Toiletries were locally sources and plentiful. Lovely showers and outdoor shower, and the patios are lovely, with potted flowers and comfy chairs. Oh! And real orchids in every room. Many, many touches that made the stay enjoyable. So much storage in the kitchen and main bedroom. Waking up to the ocean view and sleeping with the windows open (and no traffic or people noise) was so relaxing. We'd love to come back and rent for a month. We are well-traveled and this is one of the nicest properties we've enjoyed. Hosts are delightful. Highly recommended.

After a long flight it was a needed break from people altogether. Bring what you need for your first night; the grocery store is a bit of drive in the direction you most likely just came from. Other than your personal food comfort items the cottage is well appointed with a wonderful view and patio to simply enjoy and unwind for the day.

We are frequent travelers who almost exclusively stay in VRBO rentals. We've seen many places, and this cottage is up at the top of our list!
The location is great for pretty much anything you want to do on the island - 30 min from the airport, 1 hr from Lahaina, 1 hr from Haleakala, 15 min to Paia shops and restaurants, and right off of the Hana Hwy.
The cottage is...breathtaking! Everything is new, modern and pristine. Linens are high quality and clean. Luxury Hawaiian-made bath products in both bathrooms. Kitchen is stocked as well as our kitchen at home, including a nice Hawaiian-themed welcome basket. Tons of windows for natural light and cool breezes all day long.
On top of all this, Brigitte and Dave are fantastic hosts! They made a point to stop by and talk with us, give us feedback on our planned hikes and activities, give us recs for food and other things. They obviously take pride in their place and it shows in all the thoughtful touches they've included.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at this amazing property. It was like a zen retreat - quiet, private, and beautiful inside and out. We loved the ocean view, the exquisite foliage, the sound of birds, and the sound of the trees rustling in the breeze. The decorating was top notch and they had everything we needed and wanted. There was a lovely basket of coffee, homegrown fruit, macadamia nuts, and homemade pumpkin bread - very nice touch! The communication with the owners Dave and Brigitte was excellent. Our stay from start to finish was a true delight. We have never been more impressed with a place or with our hosts -- Brigitte & Dave were so kind. We greatly enjoyed chatting with them one night. And the house -- WOW! Secluded, peaceful, cleaner than you can imagine, and outfitted in every way with anything you may need. An outdoor shower, windows surrounding gardens, perfect views for the sunrise and sunset, and a fully stocked kitchen to make cooking a pure delight. We loved having the windows open to feel the breeze and hear all the birds. If you are concerned about the lack of air-conditioning, fear not!! Coming from the East Coast in summer, we thought it might be too hot. The island breeze was perfect and we already miss it.
This is the way to see & enjoy Maui. Haiku was the perfect location and have already recommended it to several friends. We enjoyed many of the surrounding beaches, and loved that there weren't as many people there. The road to Hana is a must -- we hiked Waimoku falls and were in awe at the beauty. The drive and hike is completely worth it. In Hana, find the off-beaten path and look for the red sand beach. The colors were incredible. Hamoa Beach is the one to check out in Hana. Twin Falls is worth checking out just a few miles away, but try to get there early in the morning to avoid the crowds. We also went snorkeling off of Molokini with Makena Coast Dive Charters and they were fantastic to work with.
We loved the places we found to eat and enjoy the Hawaiian food -- so much to enjoy! Make a reservation for Mama's Fish House...what a culinary experience.
If you aren't convinced, I'm not sure what else we could say. Maui will forever hold a special place in our hearts and a part of it was because of this incredible haven! Thank you, Brigitte & Dave!

This 2 bedroom house was the perfect getaway for our time in Maui during our Road To Hana leg of our trip. We stayed here 3 nights and it was a highlight of our entire trip. All of the amenities are top-notch and the property offers the perfect amount of space to stretch your legs, have dinner and drinks all against a beautiful sunset. Not to mention the perfect location if you're doing the Road To Hana trip. Our hosts were great and responsive locals that can give you lots of great tips if you're interested.
