What Do Guests Think? An Analysis of 740 Guest Reviews

Reviewer Portrait

The following executive summary is based on a comprehensive and impartial AI analysis of guest reviews. Keep in mind that all units are individually owned, and review scores among units can vary considerably.

Most guests love the location and views. The buildings sit in the heart of Waikiki, typically 1–3 blocks from the beach and steps to restaurants, shops, ABC stores, bus lines, and tour pickups. Many units have lanais with sweeping ocean, Diamond Head, and city views—sunrises, sunsets, and Friday fireworks get frequent shout‑outs. Onsite perks like the Pacific Monarch’s rooftop pool, hot tub, sauna, lounge/BBQ, and the Bamboo’s lush courtyard pool create easy off‑beach downtime. Kitchens or kitchenettes plus beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, coolers) make it easy to save on meals and settle into a “home base” routine.

Inside, experiences vary by unit but trend positively. Many guests describe clean, comfortable condos that match photos, with responsive hosts and straightforward self check‑in. Simple touches—well‑stocked basics, strong Wi‑Fi, laundry access on site, and secure keycard entry—add convenience. Space runs from efficient studios to larger 1‑bedrooms and penthouses; several note comfy beds and practical layouts for couples or small families. Overall value for the location is a major theme, with many saying they’d happily return.

Common trade‑offs reflect an older, urban condo‑hotel setting. Expect city noise (sirens, street activity, occasional construction), elevator waits at peak times, and paid, tight parking that’s limited at some buildings. A/C is often a single window unit in the living area and can be noisy or less effective in bedrooms; fans help. As vacation rentals, most units don’t include daily housekeeping—towels and supplies can be limited and you’ll use coin laundry for longer stays. Periodic maintenance (pool or water shutoffs) and mixed front‑desk support for privately managed units also come up. Cleanliness and furnishings are generally good but can vary by unit; if you’re sensitive to noise, want hotel‑style services, or need whisper‑quiet, ultra‑modern finishes, set expectations accordingly.

In the heart of Waikiki, close to everything, minutes from the sand. Great view of the ocean and mountains. Fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. Comfortable bed and there are beach chairs and umbrellas. The lanai was spacious and a perfect place for meals. The elevators were fast with hardly any wait time. Only critique, shower/bathtub could be updated. Would recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a great stay.

The place was clean, very nice view, communication with Lani was great. Check in process was easy. The place is small and outdated. It served its purpose but a bit on the pricey side for what it offers. I have stayed in cheaper places in Waikiki that were larger, more updated, with parking included and washer/dryer in the unit.

Building wise, it is a very convenient location, easy to walk to lots of places including the beach. The rooftop pool/hot tub/cornhole area was really nice, too. The elevators are extremely slow in the building though there are signs posted that they are working on upgrading them. Parking onsite is expensive and the parking garage in the building is a tight space, so best to get a smaller sized vehicle. The unit itself is on the 13th floor and has beautiful views. The photos of the unit make it appear more spacious than it feels and the kitchen area is very small. The dining chairs felt and sounded very unstable, like they might break while we were sitting in them. The shower area is in need of caulking/repair and we could not figure out how to make the tub fill, so our kids took showers instead of baths. There were lots of pool/beach items provided in the unit that were useful - towels, snorkeling gear, chairs, boogie boards, etc. The owners of the unit also own a restaurant a block away, so they are available and local.

The beach view was spectacular! And while this can fit 3 adults, it's a better property for parents and their kids. The bathroom is small and the water pressure almost painful. But the kitchen was well stocked, the balcony peaceful, and really, you're getting this location for the room which cannot be beat!

The views were pretty good for where we were staying. Communication was also clear and pretty prompt. Only thing negative was you couldn’t leave your luggage at the front desk so had to pay a hefty price tp store it and get it to the room was hard. Couldn’t leave it at the front desk.

We've stayed in many different places in Hawaii over the years including North Shore House on the beach, Moana Surf Rider, Outrigger, and other condos in Waikiki. As far as Condos, this was by far the best. Its an older building and unit, but as a top floor corner condo with a large linai with awesome view, windows on two sides, it felt spacious and airy. The elevator was generally fast with direct access to the garage, and the walk to our favorite spot on the beach super close. Would absolutely return.

I’ve been to Waikiki probably 7 times and I usually look for the same thing, a good deal. Therefore I wasn’t expecting amazing or perfect, this place had great pics of the pool and the room looked very nice. It wasn’t terrible but I probably wouldn’t stay again. It feels weird to spend 1250 and then immediately have to go buy toilet paper because you weren’t left enough. I was thankful that they had basic body was and shampoo/conditioner. The couch was not comfortable for chilling and relaxing in the living room but I later learned that it was a pull out couch so that makes sense and is probably worth having. I would have appreciated more towels as we’d packed intentionally to not have to do laundry. We did appreciate the few beach items on the lanai. The pool vibe was off to me. One day it was freezing cold in the hot tub which was disappointing (but not the hosts fault). We picked this property because of how beautiful the pool looked, but didn’t go in at all. They didn’t have the waterfall feature running and diners from off the street have access to come back and eat at the restaurant at the pool making it less private or special. It also felt like cleanliness was overlooked. On the first day we saw what looked like blood by the bed on the floor. Mold spots on some of the furniture. Unable to turn on a lamp in the living room and couldn’t get one of the AC remotes to work (dead batteries?). Something that could’ve helped us is being able to text a host if we needed to.

Responsive and helpful communication from the host. The studio was spacious, airy, and nicely decorated. Being on the 8th floor was nice, giving the space a more open feel away from street level. The location on Kuhio Avenue is also very convenient for getting around Waikiki. Overall a very comfortable place to stay.

Had an amazing week for my babymoon! Unit was very clean and the kitchenette was perfect to make breakfast every morning. We really enjoyed the living room plus 1 bedroom (since I’m an early-bird and my husband like to sleep in lol). AC worked perfectly and the blackout curtains made for a good nights sleep. The pool area is beautiful. The place was just a few minute walk to the beach. We lucked out and were able to park our car in the parking lot the whole week which was incredibly convenient and much cheaper than the surrounding parking garages. I lived on Oahu years ago so I knew beforehand how close everything in Waikiki is to each other, so when it was time for me to book a place to stay - I didn’t want to break my vacation budget staying at one of the fancier hotels knowing that there were great options one block away. I’m happy I took a chance on this unit, I would 1000% book again if and when we come back!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I have visited Hawaii several times and have stayed at a variety of hotels and condominiums around Waikiki. This time, I chose a vacation rental at Pacific Monarch, and overall it was a very comfortable and satisfying stay. The location is definitely one of its strongest points. Waikiki Beach is within easy walking distance, and there are plenty of ABC Stores, restaurants, and shops nearby. Being able to step out and quickly get whatever you need makes getting around Waikiki stress-free and convenient. We stayed in a high-floor unit, and the view was beautiful. During the day, you can enjoy the open city scenery, and in the evening, the atmosphere becomes calm and very “Waikiki-like.” Because of the view, we found ourselves spending more time relaxing in the room than we initially expected. The room itself was clean and well maintained, with a pleasant overall atmosphere. One thing that stood out was the stylish lighting. In the evening, it created a warm and relaxing mood, giving the space a slightly hotel-like feel while still being a condominium. It wasn’t flashy, but it felt thoughtfully designed and comfortable.Having a kitchen was also very convenient. Being able to prepare a simple breakfast or keep drinks and fruit chilled made the stay more flexible and relaxed, especially compared to eating out for every meal. The rooftop pool and jacuzzi were nice for unwinding between outings. They weren’t overly luxurious, but they were rarely crowded and easy to use, which made them enjoyable in a quiet, low-key way.The building itself is not brand new, so those looking for the latest luxury hotel facilities or full service may find it a bit simple. However, considering the location, room comfort, and freedom that comes with a condo stay, the overall value is very good. All in all, Pacific Monarch is an easy and comfortable choice for enjoying Waikiki without overthinking thing

January 2026

Room was clean. Location was great. Staff was friendly. My only complaint was there is very limited storage for clothes. Only had access to half the closet and part of that was taken up by vacuum, broom, etc. Other than that, the place was nice and couldn't ask for better location for the price.

We had a nice stay at Bamboo Waikīkī. The room had a good balcony and a very comfortable bed. We were mostly out enjoying the island and really only used the room to sleep, but it did exactly what we needed it to do. Clean, comfortable, and a great location. We would stay here again.

January 2026

The hotel property itself is very nice, well-maintained, and clean. The location is excellent — only about a 2-minute walk to the beach. There are many shops, cafés, restaurants, car rentals, and bike rentals around the hotel, with very well-developed infrastructure nearby. This is a huge plus. The staff was friendly, and the hotel offers a pool and a jacuzzi. There is also a bar next to the pool and jacuzzi. The room itself was quite spacious and comfortable in terms of layout. However, the biggest and only serious downside was cleanliness. The room was very dirty — there was a lot of dust everywhere, and we found many dark (black) hairs in the bed. It felt like the bedding was not fresh and had not been changed after previous guests. We had to remove the bedding ourselves and wash it in the laundry room before using it. Laundry costs $8 per wash and $3.25 for the dryer. The dishes in the room were also dirty, and we had to rewash everything before use. Overall, it felt as if the room had not been properly cleaned after the previous guests. We lowered the rating only because of the cleanliness issues. If the room had been clean, this property would easily deserve five stars — or even more — due to its location, amenities, and overall atmosphere. Another downside is that the hotel does not provide beach towels. The room only had bath and shower towels (5 total), which are not suitable for the beach, so be sure to bring your own beach towels.

Our Virbo person was great. Answered questions. Got back pretty fast. Now the hotel/condo part not the happiest. The hotel had us sign a form that said if things were missing from our rooms, the hotel is not accountable.?? Why would or should I worry about stuff missing from our room. Money, jewelry etc. So they do not hold there employees accountable if we have them in our rooms to clean or bring linens? So right off the bat I am stressed out. Making sure i carry my important stuff with me. Didn't want to hangout to long with family because i was worried someone was going through our stuff. Then when we got into our room, there was a musky smell and it was not enjoyable. We had to leave our slider open to help with the smell. There is water leaks on the ceiling. The condo looked bigger in the pictures than it was. Still, it was nice and it worked. But would I come back to the Bamboo. No. People were nice. You hold me accountable to take care of this home but not your employees!! That I have to sign a waver and except that they could steal from your customers.
