Our 2 BR condo at White Sands Village is right across from White Sands Beach in Kailua Kona. The condo is quiet, restful and only a short walk down the driveway to one of the best swimming and boogie boarding beaches on the Big Island. It's close to great snorkeling, surfing and paddle boarding, and near lovely restaurants directly on the water, with full shopping facilities a couple of miles north or south of the condo. Magic Sands Beach, as White Sands Beach is usually called, is truly awesome. We were literally swimming next to huge sea turtles the last time we were there. The boogie boarding is great and if you like to surf, there are good spots nearby. Magic Sands Beach has full facilities - a life guard, toilets, outdoor showers, and even a beach volley ball net. If you like to snorkel, Kahaluu Beach is mile down the road and great for that. There are life guards there too, and an offshore reef that smooths the waves and makes is safer for young ones to use the beach. Several medium sized turtles are usually found here, near shore in shallow water. The beach is rocky near shore so bring reef shoes to make it easy to walk out where the turtles like to hang out. Another great beach for the young visitors is the Kamakahonu, or King Kam Beach in downtown Kailua Kona, next to the Kailua pier. This popular beach has such gentle wave action it's known as the “Kids' Beach'. The King Kam beach is a great spot for families with small children to enjoy the ocean. The condo complex pool is salt water, but not heavily so, so it is wonderful to swim in. There is a nice hot tub too, right next to the pool. The complex also has tennis courts if you like to play, as well as a pool table near the office and a lending library. There are two really comfortable twin beds in the second bedroom. There is a new 55” UHD LCD TV with high def cable channels and a blu-ray player as well. There is high speed internet and free wireless. There’s also covered parking and an elevator. We cook a lot, so the kitchen is well equipped. The lanai is huge and we love to sit out there and read or watch the birds and the ocean. The condo has recently been upgraded. We installed a new Bosch dishwasher, upgraded the air conditioning (although you don’t need it that much) and put in a new garbage disposal and hot water tank.
