The host was friendly and attentive. They responded immediately to any request we had and accommodated where they could not address during our time. The unit is dated but still comfy. There is limited bath towels but there is in-unit W/D so you can easily wash them. They provide an ice chest, body boards, sand toys, beach towels, and 2 beach chairs. The grills by pool are clean. Our family enjoyed grilling and hanging out around the pool. There are 2 hot tubs but one1 did not work so it forced us to make new friends while sharing a tight space in the other hot tub lol ... I did enjoy getting to meet new people. We did see any bugs at all in our unit. There are double sinks in bathrooms, 1 full shower, and 1 bathtub with shower. The master bathroom door is a folding door so you don't get full privacy (especially if you have stinky bathroom users). Living room has one futon that would fit a kid or shorter adult. One bedroom has a california king bed and 1 twin bed. The masters has a king bed and 1 twin bed. It comfortably fit 6 of us. The unit also has the living room futon, and 1 foldable twin mat. Elevators are tricky at first. Check the floor numbers on top of elevators to determine which one will actually go up to your floor. Also, a few of the elevators DO require a key card to push the elevator floor number while some does not require it. Bring your key! Minivan fits fine in hotel ramp. Breakfast place in lobby is pricey but very GOOD! Love food trucks across the street

It was difficult to find a place large enough to comfortably accommodate 6 adults and this was one of the few options available. This penthouse worked perfectly for us. It’s a short walk to Waikiki beach, Kalakaua Ave with lots of shopping and restaurants, International Marketplace, Ala Moana mall, and TWO 7-11s. 7-11s on Hawaii are nothing like 7-11s on the mainland. They’re safe, clean, and have a large variety of delicious musubi (rice balls)
The unit itself was spacious and had incredible views. We could see Diamond Head, Waikiki, Punchbowl, and the Friday night fireworks. There’s a huge balcony that’s nice to sit on to watch sunsets. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed for the few meals we prepared. There’s a washer and dryer in the unit, which came in handy.
It was nice to have lots of beach towels available. There’s also some beach toys if you have kids. Parking is available for $40/day (cash) or there’s a Hui car rental right in the bldg. There’s also bus stops nearby and you can get to and from the airport for $3/person
The location is great. We walked to Zippy’s (best fast food!), Kona Coffee Purveyors (best lattes), House Without A Key at Halekulani (best breakfast buffet). I wanted to go to Arnold’s Beach Bar (heard they have good, cheap drinks) but ran out of time. It’s about block from the unit.
Appreciated the clear communication with the property managers. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful.

Location is only a few blocks to beach and main drag. So price is great for that. I felt they could have cleaned the space a bit deeper, but they sent the cleaner back up. Had an issue with toilet and they got on it right away.
I would put in a broom for sure as sand is a given and would be nice to sweep up.
Loose the dog picture in the bathroom. Otherwise we could cook our meals and had a great view.

The unit was clean, located well, easy to check in and out and was very nice. The property management was very responsive when the microwave didn’t work. We had a new one the next day. The only suggestions would be: 1) more shelves on the walls to put clothes from the suitcase. Very tight to move with two suitcases. 2) New mattress for the bed by the windows. It is very old and worn out and when you sit or lie on it, you touch the boards below and it’s not comfortable. Otherwise the accommodations were great! Totally recommend this location and unit for a nice place to stay. Loved the access to the pool and barbecues! Not sue if I received my damage deposit back yet but am hoping that will be coming soon. We left the place spotless.

Whatever you do don’t stay here. They have half blinds in the bathroom so you can see out and they probably can see in when you’re near the window undressing to shower. The shower backed up. They gave us drano, we used the whole bottle and it still backs up. The fridge didn’t get cold all of Our food spoiled. Tried to let the staff know and they didn’t do anything to resolve it. Their staff came In the room While in was in the shower and asked if I needed a towel. I specifically asked them to let me know before they came in the room. And then when I message them about it, they lied and said they didn’t come in the room. Then I messaged him again about it saying that they did then they finally said they did come in. Worst service and worst place I’ve ever stayed at. Communication is very terrible.

The location of the building is close enough to a great beach and downtown. We had to use Uber and taxis for some destinations, but typically walked everywhere. The building itself is older and very dated, but it had basic but adequate facilities (pool, hot tubs, workout room). Another huge plus was two closets filled with beach equipment (chairs, umbrella, cooler, etc.)
The condo we stayed in was definitely dated and older, but it was clean. All things needed for kitchen/laundry were provided and made it easy for cooking and keeping up with clean towels for our group. There were only two things that were sub-par. The AC is VERY LOUD and awkward, and it did not work half of the time in one bedroom. Steve was aware and had waited quite a long time for a repair person who was coming the day we left. The second issue was the king bed was extremely hard, and I ended up sleeping on the couch every night. But other than a few other aesthetic things, the condo served our purpose well, and we would recommend it because of the view, amenities, and gracious staff who work there. And as already mentioned, Steve is a fantastic host. If you don’t need or care about updated/fancy accommodations, this is your place.

There was 7 adults that stayed in this penthouse. Plenty of room for all. Easy check in. Other reviews complained about the elevators. We never had an issue with them, considering we were on the 44th floor. The view from the penthouse is beautiful. If I had to say anything negative about this place would only be the mattress on the sofa bed needs to be replaced. Very uncomfortable for an adult. All other beds extremely comfortable. Thank you so much for letting us stay here. We would love to come back.

The most amazing views in Waikiki, both ocean and mountains! We loved looking at the ocean while having a breakfasts. In the evening, we would open the windows and listen to the city sounds while looking at the Honolulu lights.
Unit is a bit older but well kept and has everything you need. Walking distance to both Waikiki and Ala Moana (Magic Island lagoon our favourite beach), about 20-25 min fun walk as there is so much to see.
I travelled with two teens who loved the stay and exploring around in the evening by themselves (10 min walk to all Waikiki action). They felt safe as there were always lots of people walking around.
Lots of food choices, grocery stores around.
Right in the building you can rent a convertible Jeep for a day ($150) to explore the island (parking is expensive in Honolulu).
This unit is ideal for light and practical travellers, who would use city bus, taxi or love walking around. We used bus to/from airport, Pearl Harbour and loved it. Bus stops are close to the building.
Host, Eva, is super responsive.
Rental is great value for money. We are planning to stay again and recommend to friends.

The Sisters enjoyed our stay on Honolulu and the people at the Hawaiian Monarch were very courteous, from the security personnel, to the individual Owner Steve. Beds were comfortable, we cooked several meals in their fully equipped kitchen and watched movies with easy Roku devices. The views were spectacular and it was very quiet. The pool and jacuzzi needed to be cleaned on the day we used them and this area is shared with the Monarch's other unit owners. Security is good and we always felt safe. It was a wonderful time. Plus-Sized Travellers- This is NOT the place for us fluffy friends. The toilet has got to be the smallest Ive ever seen squished RIGHT next to the shower. You're forced into awkward angles and glass door gymnastics every time you need to use the facilities. I prayed that I wouldnt break the lou every time I sat on it (prayers were answered thankfully)
Pros- The room was CLEAN and the view was spectacular. The location of the hotel, especially next to the McCully bridge, was fantastic. The people in the shops and at the front desk were so friendly. The bed was that worn down soft/firm perfection that they get from being well used, super comfortable. Loved the guest book with all its suggestions. The Fridge was a decent size, large enough for our copious lefts overs. The shower had great pressure and nice consistantly hot water. Loved the Roku streaming device so we could watch some americas test kitchen before bed.
Cons- On our 1st and 5th night someone prank pulled the fire alarm, at 4am and 11pm respectively. Apparently this happens all the time because there are fire alarms that can be accessed by non-guests off the street. The kitchenware was barely usable, but typical of vrbo stays. The large windows have NO fall protection what so ever, horrifying on the 29th floor. The elevators were slow, clanky, HOT, crowded and frequently only one in operation. For wheelchair users the sidewalks are horrible, and ramps were too steep.

The place is a little outdated but that’s most places in Hawaii in my opinion but the view was STUNNING ! any room you go it is breathtaking . Kitchen are fully stocked with anything you’ll need , definitely could have used more trash bags especially it was 4 adults but not a big deal lol

This property was great for me and my husband, and our parents. The elevators are very quick and appear to have been recently upgraded, so we had no issues like some prior commentors did. Some of the condo is run down, e.g., bubbling paint in places, toilet paper holders fall off walls, but given the view, location, and size, this is an excellent value for the price. Also, when we had an issue with the tv, the property manager was very responsive and fixed it within a couple hours.

We stayed here for a conference with colleagues. Since it’s on the top floor, the elevators take forever (once it took 30 min). There are three elevators but one was apparently always down (per residents we talked with) and they were always shutting down one of the other two for maintenance.
It was nice having two bedrooms and two bathrooms and the views were nice. AC was also a bonus although it’s either on or off (bring warm clothes). However the living room furniture is awfully uncomfortable.
During our stay, the water was shut down for almost 6 hours one day. We say signs about it on the day of our arrival. We asked security about this and they said there’s a planned shut down once a month (nothing new). When we asked the host about this, they were not open to discussing the impact. We were there for a conference and couldn’t shower before work… it was very frustrating to be lied to and also not have been told up front that we won’t have water access during the stay. For this reason alone, we would not stay here again.

All dining room chairs' legs need to be tightened and seats need to be affixed. Air conditioner does not cool well, we believe that the filters need to be cleaned, light switch in Master Bedroom works intermittent, dryer, (when initially turned on), makes a LOUD screeching noise.

Matresses are cheap quality and pillows are flat as pancakes, the drapes are being held by thoughts and prayers, the once white microwave is all kinds of yellow shades from how old it is, and the hand drawing "hi"happy face on the wall above the toilet is creepy. Did not stay a single night of the 4 I had paid for, there was a dead roach legs up right outside, not the small kind, those big ones, and all I could think was there's bed bugs here, now, Idk if there were any, but I wasn't gonna stay and find out. I said hell no and booked my stay at Hyatt, there was just no way my kids and ai were gonna stay there. The pics on the ad are black and white for a reason and they really did their best at those, fooled me into booking it. The building itself and the parking employees, one word, ghetto. Would not recommend.

It was a horrible experience. The AC unit was broken so it was a consistently 80 degrees Fahrenheit! I chose this room because I didn’t plan being there in my room but unfortunately because it was so hot at night I was never getting quality sleep which left me no energy to do the things I wanted to do. I’m absolutely useless without my sleep. I literally slept with ice in the bed. I froze face towels to wrap around my neck to cool myself. I reached out to maintenance every single day I was there. They had the audacity to ask if I checked out like I had other options! I asked to be moved into another numerous times. The maintenance man communicated that AC unit was beyond fixing and needed replacing. After the 3rd of my four day vacation I lost all my patience and demanded a refund. The room was dusty and there was long straight hairs in the shower from a previous stay. The decorative pictures had exposed broken glass. One of the chairs was wobbly. The stove didn’t work which I was not made aware and it was advertised as a kitchenette! Lies! There were 3 elevators on each side but only one worked.

This condo is perfect. It is exactly as advertised. It is clean and stocked with everything you will need. It is very spacious. The views are absolutely breathtaking! You can see the ocean, Diamond Head, the canal and much more from any window in the condo. It is about a 20 minute walk to the beach. There are numerous stores and restaurants within walking distance of the condo as well. The pool and hot tubs are wonderful. There are plenty of lounge chairs and an outdoor cooking area! Steve is an amazing host and answered all of the questions that I had. He also checked in with us during our stay to make sure we were ok and didn’t need anything. We had a small issue with a thermostat and he had it fixed within 20 minutes. We loved everything about the condo and would definitely stay here again!

We like the kitchen and bathroom. It is clean and functional. The email is clear enough to do self-check-in and self-check-out. The pool and jacuzzi are located in 6th floor and they are amazing. The building is old, but the room is clean. We were living in 34th floor and was able to see beautiful city spectacular view and able to see the sea. The room is smaller than the picture, and the window curtains are so BROKE, they are easy to fall off and no reinstallation. Everyday the sunshine woke us up very early like 7am, can't rest well. If the curtain is like that next time, I won't choose this property again.

Check in was excellent. Hotel counter will not assist you as they are only there for hotel customers and not 3rd party. Elevators are an issue. 3 elevators with 1 broken whole time we were there. Parking was $40/day cash but you can get in/out whenever you want. Picture of inside of apartment is not accurate. Furniture is old and worn down, really takes away from the beautiful view and what the apartment could really look like, needs someone to put fresh paint and new furniture in living room and it would be dynamite. Bedrooms were great, beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were small but accomodating. Kitchen was fine and great to have washer and dryer. Very close to beaches (15-20 minute walk or 5 min drive drop off. Having a car is not worth it if you are just going shopping and to the beach. Had an issue with AC and they fixed it within 24 hours and provided a credit without asking, real classy move. Balcony overlooking Honolulu at night is breathtaking

Pizza spot nearby is good. Location is loud due to vehicle noises. Place could have been cleaner. AC barely works and is poorly insulated (there's an open window) so the place gets hot during the day, but it cools off at night.

This rental was perfect for 6 adult family members staying here. It was modern and clean. It could use some more items for the kitchen like can opener, wine bottle opener, and some additional dishes for food preparation. The key cards didn’t work at first so we had to go downstairs to have them reprogrammed but overall it was a great place to stay

Firstly, Steve was great. Very helpful. The views from the penthouse were spectacular, and in a great location. The penthouse was clean and tidy, but in need of updating. One of the sofas legs broke, and Steve couldn’t fix it, so had to remove all the legs, which felt like you were sitting on the floor ! The other sofa had a cover on it, which I presume was to conceal something. A bathroom light smashed whilst we were watching tv. Made us all jump at the sound of breaking glass ! A towel rail fell off, one of the hairdryers was faulty and tripped the fuse panel. There was a couple of cupboards that were falling apart. We also experienced a power cut and the internet stopped working for the last couple of days, which is obviously no one’s fault. One of the worst things though, was the elevators. Most of the time only 1 seemed to be working. This meant that it took forever to get up and down due to the amount of people using them, and when they were busy, the heat was awful. My wife almost passed out once. The ac in the master bedroom kept going off too.
Other than these points, we had a great time, but wouldn’t go somewhere that old again. I believe the hotel in which the penthouse is located, is a 2 star, which is probably right

Location is great. 15 minutes to wikiki beach. Building is dated and hasnt gone through any upgrades or renovations in recent years. The things provided (shampoo, 1 bar of soap, no tissue, etc.) Have a very motel feel. Roku for streaming services was nice for kids.

Everyday, the four of us enjoyed the views from the penthouse windows. The ocean and sky went on forever. The views at night were were just as magical as the day with lights glittering like a magic forest. The living space was spacious, the beds comfortable, the showers had good force and all was clean.

Parking is terrible, sometimes it take 20-30 minutes wait time to get a parking spot. Clearance is 6ft and 2 inches, so if you have bigger vehicles, it is hard. Other thing is elevators, it is worst, it takes 5 minutes sometimes.

The location definitely makes this a good place to stay. The only slight negative, which is more the actual building and not the condo is the elevators are slow and one was not working (you could only use 2 to go to the penthouse suite). The condo had everything we needed and the owners were quick to respond to a leg that was broken on the sofa when we arrived. It is two master suites, but the second room is better suited for a children's room or unrelated travelers. The view was fabulous and you can walk to everything. I wish I had trusted my gut and not booked a rental car. Parking is $40 per day and traffic was so bad, we only drove once while we were there. If we are ever back in Waikiki, we would stay again.

Place was decent. Check in was easy. Elevators takes forever!!! View from the condo was amazing! Furniture looks run down. They need to update the information online, WiFi is different. When entering room, it smelt really old. There is ac but you need to let it run the whole day/night to get the place cold. I think all bathrooms should have locks, 1 out of 3 had a lock. There was this weird odor in the entire place and another odor in the upstairs bathroom. Showers are cute but small. Water pressure is very soft. Beds were okay. Parking information needs to be updated online. Parking was easy to find. 1 parking per condo. No guess parking. It was a bit hard to read the words on the stove to see the temperature. Overall, we (2 families) made the best of it for 3 nights. I’ll rate this 3 stars just because the view was amazing!

The rental was a disaster which inconveniene myself and the family.
*The ceiling in the bedroom leak water on to the bed on the second day there.
*The shower heads in both bathroom were not working properly due to calcium buildup.
*There were some strange looking bugs throughout the rental needs to be exterminated.
* Mold in the showers.

Pros:
* The view
* # of bedrooms/bathrooms
* Somewhat updated kitchen although definitely not a kitchen to do much cooking (stove knobs are all worn out)
Cons:
* EVERY second Tuesday of every month, the water is turned off from 11-3
* Dryer doesn't work...seems like it has been like that for months
* Our "keys" didn't work for one out of two elevators
* Living room furniture needs replacing despite the note that said they are new
* Upstairs bedroom sliders need replacing.
* "normal" supplies (compared this to our Maui's VRBO) are minimal...when I reached out to the property manager they did respond quickly, once with bringing supplies quickly and once saying paper towels are not part of the supplies.
OVERALL, our expectation after reading the description was way too high. Expect minimal, expect some wait time with the elevators (44th floor).

Nice remodel, a few things to repair yet in Masterbath shower and window shades. Some essentials were missing when we arrived for our stay including "the book" with all the info. Made contact with the manager and they were very responsive bringing items to complete bathroom and full kitchen needs.
Building maintenance issues occured for 2 of 3 elevators, window washing scheduled to keep blinds shut for privacy, and closure of pool deck due to high wind/safety issues dampened the experience during a holiday week.
Recommend buying advance parking pass and heads up that they only take cash. ATM in lobby works. Lots of building upgrades were in progress, including elevators so that concern should be remedied soon.
Masterbath shower was scheduled to be repaired after our stay, although bathtub worked fine.
Beds were very comfortable, slept great. Lots of storage room in closets. Furniture was new and very comfortable-- thinking of buying the same couch for my house!
Overall a great stay despite some challenges-- even more great because we got engaged during our trip!
Re: check in process, look at pictures on the wall for how the lock box works to close it. I also had two people attempt to help close it before we got it to connect (dark switch on bottom of keypad notvtop shiny one).

While the location of the penthouse was perfect, the unit looks nothing like the photos. The upstairs room did not have a television nor a sitting area as indicated in the photos. The furniture in the photo is not what’s in the living area. There are two sofas; no chairs. The bathrooms are extremely small.

Ash was very helpful and everything was very straight forward. The room itself was nice and tidy, just what we needed to just spend the night at and be able to go out all day. Just wish there were more pictures listed of the bathroom. Could’ve been cleaner, there were stains on toilet and trash can. Overall, my stay was pleasant and would definitely recommend this place!

This stay was incredibly frustrating. I am still unable to reach the host through support. On the day of my arrival, the host let us know that the swimming pool was not active and was shut down due to maintenance. It was down the entire time we were there. It was the main reason we booked this location to begin with. The internet was out for half of our stay despite repeated attempts to let the host know that it was out. The host finally had to call spectrum and do a three way call to troubleshoot. The host sent a colleague to retrieve the internet boxes and halfway through our trip, we were finally able to use the Wi-Fi.
I can understand if the host sees these things as out of her control, however we were never offered a discount, partial refund, barely even an apology, etc.
We were told by VRBO that we qualified for relocation assistance and then were told the host ignored all contact from VRBO during and after our stay. We were not relocated and we have not received even a partial refund or apology for this. The location is very small and in a full condo complex. There would be a nice pool on the fifth floor if we were able to access it. The balcony has a nice view. But it was an expensive and frustrating experience and I would not book it again.

This penthouse was an amazing find! It was quiet and had two actual bedrooms, not an accordion wall to separate rooms and 2 full bathrooms like a lot of other places. It may have been the cleanest place I've ever rented! Steve was always quick to respond and the penthouse had all we needed to enjoy the beach (ice chest, chairs, sand toys, body boards, and umbrella). We could walk to many restaurants and the beach. The elevator can take some time, but the views are amazing! Parking is $40 a day which is quite pricey if you rent a car.

We stayed here throughout the week of wedding festivities and the location was perfect for what we needed. Everyone was comfortable, the views were incredible and the kitchen was was equipped. We had some challenges with the washer but nice to have available. Plan accordingly on timing for the duration of the elevator :) Thank you for sharing this space with us!

This was my first visit to Hawaii & I had an amazing time! The condo was great, had everything I needed and was very accessible. The views of the mountains, ocean and Diamond Head were perfect, especially for sunrise!! Everything was very walkable & the beach was a short walk away with Biki bikes available around the corner! All details and recommendations were communicated efficiently and effectively - I was in great hands with this booking and highly recommend!!

Beautiful penthouse condo in downtown Honolulu! Within walking distance to the beach, restaurants and stores. The views from the rooftop are unparalleled!
The AC in the main area did not work, which was uncomfortable for the person staying on the pull put couch. The dryer was broken as well. The only other odd thing was there wasnt a bathroom door for one bathroom which made it uncomfortable to use. The wait foe the elevators was excessive, which waa frustrating.
Would absolutely recommend staying here once the AC and dryer was fixed!

We had a short and sweet stay at the Waikiki Monarch. This room is small, but nice if you don’t plan on spending a lot of time in your room during your stay (which you shouldn’t). Ash was easy to communicate with and was very attentive.

The property was wonderful, you absolutely cannot beat that view! Check in was easy, and the condo was clean and spacious. Quick repsonses from the owner too. It was wonderful waking up every morning to Diamond Head, the Ocean, and Waikiki!! We had 6 adults in our party, and the rooms were all spacious. The sofa bed in the living area was more comfortable than any pull out sofa I have slept in. There was a nice welcome package, as well as beach chairs, a cooler, and boogie boards. We loved the walkability to Waikiki, the beach, and we frequented the food trucks often! Plenty of towels as well. To address prior reviews..if you are spending your time worrying about bubbling paint, or spots on the ceiling, you really need to refocus and look out those windows! Yes...parking is expensive, but that is disclosed in the listing, and not in the owners hands, we never had any issues finding a parking space. Yes, the window washers came by....but there were signs everywhere with dates they would be coming. If we had any constructive feedback,the condo could use some additional (and better quality) pots and pans, as well as some measuring/mixing bowls and trays, and better knives, and a vacuum, but we made due with what was there. One design flaw of the condo is there is no access to a bathroom from the living room, so the adults sleeping in the living area had to "sneak" into the bedroom to access the bathroom at night, but again, this is not in the owners hands, just an FYI.

Staff were all friendly, there is also a hotel component to the building. Ocean was a bit of a walk but not too bad. Everything was close by, either walking or bus distance. This property was so awesome. The pictures match the property to a "T". The property manager, Steve Marcotte, stayed on top of everything from the reservation to after we got home. He was able to answer all of our questions, provide insight of things to do locally. He was very attentative to any and all needs we had. He checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying the property to the fussest. I would totally recommend going through him if/when you need a place to stay while visiting Oahu.

I really enjoyed my stay here. For the price, it was perfect.
I read the reviews, which were correct with not having a dresser to store clothing in. Since it was only me, I used the other bed to lay out my belongings. There is also a small corner clothing hanger piece so you can hang some of your things.
I liked the location and room. It had so much light! Looking out the window to my left wete the mountians and to the right was the ocean. Perfect for me!
The bed is still and could use a little more padding, but it wasnt horrible.
