This was perfect for a couples getaway. The neighborhood was beautiful, neighbors were very friendly, and was really well maintained and nice to walk around in. The room was as described and there was some beach gear available as well as plenty of cookware and dishes. We were able to cook without any problems. Super short and beautiful drive to Hanalei. Would recommend and if I come back to this area I’ll likely stay here again.

Stay away. This unit looks good in pictures but is not set up for a vacation rental. The whole unit needs an overhaul. Not with duct tape like they used to fix the handles of the screens, nor old screws to pretend to keep the oven handle attached to the over (which fell off 2x while baking, and 2nd time we stopped using the oven. The beds need to be taken to the dump, the bathroom needs plumbing so as to not flood the floors, the walls need drywall so that the exposed pipes are covered in the downstairs closet, the old cardboard box needs to be removed, and the kitchen needs proper utensils for a rental unit. A can opener, sharp knifes, etc would be helpful. Overall. the family members that had to stay there were disgusted by the conditions. They actually were talking of leaving early due to the stress of it all. So, in the end, stay away. DO NOT RENT.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this unit. It was well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed as far as pots, pans, serving ware and utensils. The refrigerator had an ice maker (bonus)! The bedrooms were very well appointed with comfortable beds, clean linens and clean bathrooms with plenty of towels. There were beach chairs for our beach outings. The kitchen area opened up to the family room and breakfast nook so that when we were at home we were together eating and playing games or just chatting in the open family room. That's what we love doing when not exploring the north shore, so thank you for sharing your townhome with our family.

There is a small shopping center nearby that has a grocery store, several options for restaurants and nightly love music. It was also is also a quick drive to Hanalei. Really great having beach chairs, umbrella ( which was broken, the screw in bottom portion stripped out so couldn’t drill it into the sand), snorkeling gear for 2. Overall we were very pleased with the location, amenities and how comfortable the apartment was. Although the apartment is compact, the space felt open and offered a large private patio with a lush tropical view, in addition to a community pool. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The check-in and check-out instructions, property and parking access, use of electronic devices in the apartment were very clear and easy to follow. However, the modem was tempermental and we could not access or log-into our streaming apps. The amenities were beyond awesome - beach chairs, beach umbrella and towels were provided for two, along with a cooler and ample shampoos, conditioners and toiletries. The kitchenette offered a microwave, toaster and toaster oven. We highly suggest that a hot plate be included for boiling water for cooking food, along with a metal tea kettle. The plastic water kettle created bad-tasting water and we did not feel that we could cook pasta or rice with it. For the price and location, we give 5 stars!

*The property was cute, having perfect space for a solo traveler. My suggestion would be to incorporate a hot plate or an electric stove/ skillet to be able to cook.*The breaker would pop if I left the toaster oven on too long.*The tv could be more user friendly. It kept saying it couldn’t find a connection to connect. Otherwise the owners intrusions to using the tv were great. The pool hours stated in the owners FYI booklet were incorrect. (I didn’t have a pencil to leave him a note :( … besides the cooking stuff, great time and great place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It’s stocked with everything needed including all the beach gear and added touches like Kleenex, paper towels, napkins, soaps, basic spices, condiments and even distilled water for the iron or CPAP machine. The condo lives much larger than a typical studio and the full size kitchen was wonderful. The patio offers a peaceful setting amongst the lush landscape. The owner was very responsive during our stay and he has provided so many amenities to make your stay comfortable. The location is ideal for the Princeville area and we would definitely return to this property when visiting Kauai again.

Beautiful place! Hottest part of the year obviously and a few times we felt the lack of central AC, but the huge lanai and really nice place made up for it for sure! We're so glad we booked here. The upstairs room gets WARM pretty much all night but has fans that help. The two downstairs rooms have AC units and stay nice and cool. Having the fans going in the living room and dining area really helped. It only got too warm later afternoon early evening.

The most perfect location with everything you might need. Very cute condo, bonus points for the beautiful pool on the property. We only had a bit of trouble with parking on the first night but we got there late, so maybe plan to arrive before sunset if you want to have a spot. When renting, I prefer when the bed sheets and towels are white or a lighter color. Here they were all quite dark, but everything still looked super clean. The A/C at night was absolutely great. Being on the second floor gives you a nice little view on the ocean and makes it easier to avoid getting bugs or other little friends inside. Tony was also very helpful. Great spot, I highly recommend!

The unit is well kept and maintained, stocked with the essentials and "extras" such as a beach bag, beach umbrella and chairs, etc., and has a comfortable bed. The unit was also very clean which I appreciate. We enjoyed sitting out on the small balcony listening to the birds drinking our morning coffee. The swimming pool is close by and very nice. We swam there every day. There are many beautiful beaches nearby, one which can be accessed by walking from the condo down a steep trail. Tony and Judith are lovely, friendly and accommodating hosts who live downstairs so you have easy access if you have questions or needs. I highly recommend Hoku Lani.

As much as I love coming to Hawaii, there are some things you have to live with while enjoying this island. One are the roosters (especially on Kauai), two are the possibilities of seeing big bugs, and three, renting a lower level place where you will hear the neighbors. This place had all 3. I can deal with the roosters, seeing a roach was not ideal, but most importantly, the fact you hear every footstep from above was just almost too much to bear. If you are very hard of hearing, you may be the only individual that will be able to handle the sounds. Thankfully we were there only 3 nights but that was too long considering barely any sleep was had. The location was fantastic and the unit was very spacious for us four. But I want to help others by being as honest as possible, this is NOT a good place to stay if you want to relax or just sleep.

For me, being able to walk to a store or to a restaurant is always a huge plus and this location is in easy walking distance of Princeville Center.
As a family with 6 adults and two cars I was concerned about the one parking space issue and the pre-arrival messages about where not to park and warnings about being towed. It was recommended that we park our second car at Princeville Center. However, when we arrived there were actually two parking passes waiting for us (a mistake? Maybe). Fortunately we had no issues parking the two cars at the residential location, but based on my observations and experience, I would have been totally comfortable parking our second car at Princeville Center.

Kaua’i is the most beautiful island I have ever travelled to! I stayed in Mauna Kai 5 with five of my girlfriends and was delighted with the atmosphere, cleanliness and amenities provided to us. The location is perfect with easy access to Hanalei and a beach only five minutes walk away. We were greeted with sweet treats and fruit from the island. The three rooms were very spacious, with accessibility to a pull out couch and a tv with many options to choose from. The kitchen was also great for cooking, which was definitely a money saver compared to going out to eat. I would 10/10 recommend staying at this location and will be back to experience it again!

We had a wonderful time in Princeville despite being very disappointed in these accommodations. This unit needs some work to be up to even basic standards in many areas.
I'll start with pros. This is a great location, the perfect, quiet, family-friendly area, convenient to most of the activities we wanted to experience on Kauai. We liked the condo complex. The pool is huge and very well-maintained. I met the complex's manager, Ken, who was friendly and offered some great tips. The furniture and decoration of the unit was nice.
OK, now the cons. Going to have to shift into list mode:
• Mold growing in the washing machine. I noticed this was mentioned in an older review. It has not been addressed.
• The loud, in-room A/C units struggled mightily against even the fairly mild low-80s temps. A couple of days before we left, the main unit in the LR stopped blowing cold air and it got very hot in the main areas of the condo. Maintenance came out to check it while we were away. They reported back that it was working fine. It wasn't. It remained hot in that room the rest of our stay.
• Flooring is cheap and squishy underfoot.
• The main bathroom is a disaster. The shower leaks onto the floor, the water closet is absurdly cramped, and the lack of blinds or curtains on the sliding glass doors in the bathroom is totally inexcusable. Early in our stay, I was left exposed to an embarrassing situation. I'll leave it at that. After that, I had to make sure I was decent except when in the shower with the shower curtain closed. In my own bathroom. Ridiculous.
• Perhaps worst of all is the upstairs bedroom, which reeks of an overpowering mildew smell and featured hundreds of living and dead insect "roommates" upon our arrival. It was uninhabitable, and my daughter had to sleep on the LR sofa instead. I demanded and received a partial refund for that.
When complaining about the bugs/mildew smell/broken A/C, the Vacasa representative was friendly and helpful. I did appreciate their professionalism.

Tony & Judith not only have a gorgeous home, they have thought of just about everything one will need no matter how long they are staying there. The kitchen is well-appointed, the living room comfortable, the bedroom didn't require a.c during out time there in early june and ther whole house is filled with "goodies:" from a small cooler perfect to take fishing or to the beach to beach equipment to plush beach towels to ice packs.tony & judth themselves are incredibly generous hosts who do out of their way to make sure their guests have everything they need, even if the property itself occasionally conspires against them (e.g. the parking situation was kind of a mess when we were there, but tony gave us his spot when we needed one!). one note of caution (having NOTHING to do with tony & judith): the pool area is completely unlit at night so if you are using the grill late (i.e. past 8p), BE CAREFUL! the chairs & tables become invisible in the darkness and it is very easy to hurt yourself as you walk past. (fwiw, this was brought to the attention of the board, but was ignored.) otherwise, tony & judith's place is a little piece of heaven. my favorite location on the north shore and just an absolutely perfect place to spend a few fays or a few weeks in paradise.

My wife and I stayed for a week. Location was perfect for all the activities we had planned. The drive to the other side of the island wasnt very long (about an hour) so on days we ventured to the southern part of the island it was no problem. Check in process was easy and the condo was well stocked. Would highly recommend this property.

If you’re on the fence, but have decided on Princeville area and want A/C in the bedroom so you can guarantee you’ll sleep comfortably without the roosters waking you up at the crack of dawn, book Tony’s place before someone else can snag it. Princeville is an absolute treasure and Tony’s place is a gem. So many amenities for the price without the hustle and bustle of a resort. Warm pool that was never crowded, spotless communal grill with a sink/clean up area, beautiful views from the lanai, washer and dryer with detergent and a ton of beach gear including a cooler that was better than anything we’ve rented, boogie boards, many chairs and an umbrella that held strong on windy days. Not to mention Tony and his wife are the sweetest most down to earth hosts we’ve met on our travels - they live in the unit below and are close by to assist with anything or suggest beaches that the best guidebooks ignore. The icing on the cake was stargazing with Tony multiple nights with his super fancy telescopes. He’s eager to share his knowledge and if you’re into space (or know very little like me) you’re in for a real treat. Location is amazing for the many secluded and harder to get to beaches up north as well as some good eating in Hanalei or Kilauea. If you’re in the right season, you may see albatrosses in a nearby neighborhood. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend to any family or friends heading to the amazing island of Kauai. There were no big issues, but he was immediately responsive & helpful. The unit was exactly as described, extremely clean and comfortable, perfectly set up for 2 guests in a lovely easy to find spot. (We also appreciated good quality fans, and enough of them during a very hot weekend.) Rick also provides extremely helpful info in the unit with a great map, about what to see and do, exactly how to find places-so we wasted no time figuring things out. We already know the area very well, but imagine to a first timer this info would be priceless. He even suggested a few things/places were unaware of-mahalo! It was an excellent experience. We enjoyed the condo and its location in Princeville. It was very spacious and perfect for our party of 4. We like to cook and enjoyed its large kitchen, which was well equipped with everything we needed. It felt very homey and we enjoyed its furnishings and Hawaiian-style art pictures throughout the house. We loved the large lanai that wrapped around the condo, surrounded by the tropical foliage. The property has a beautiful swimming pool with perfect temperature water and a new BBQ that we used a lot. Just know that the condo does have some stairs inside for "sunken" rooms, if there are any mobility issues. Our party decided we would definitely stay here again!
