Our extended family of six loved our 10 day stay at Hale Kalani. This is a beautiful home in the lushly landscaped Mauna Kai property. We loved the gardens, spotting birds off the spacious lanai while we enjoyed our coffee in the mornings, and were very comfortable in this home that was equipped with everything we needed. We cooked on the gas grill as well as in the kitchen, which had everything we needed. The high ceilings, ceiling fans, and louvered windows contributed to a very tropical and airy vibe, with breezes flowing throughout the home keeping it cool. We loved being able to take walks from Mauna Kai throughout Princeville to see the sunset, access the various beaches, and walk to the nearby grocery store and shopping center. Hanalei is a short, 8 minute drive so we went there often and also drove further up the coast. This was the perfect vacation rental for us.

We were a family of 5 flown in from another country the day we checked in. The property was very spacious, bright and airy. The beds were comfortable and the tropical surrounds were beautiful.
We are used to staying in other self contained accommodation which I have not been allowed to mention! around the world including mainland US but not with VRBO. We were very surprised to find that no shampoo/conditioner or body wash was provided even though it was mentioned that there will be a starter pack and bring your own toiletries? We are on holidays so was definitely not expecting to have to go and buy huge bottles of shampoo etc and worry about the toilet paper running out for the three bathrooms. And there’s no mentioned what was in the starter pack. There were lots of cutlery but not enough wine and drinking glasses or plates so we had to do a lot of hand washing because there wasn't enough dish washing tablets for our one week stay. As it’s prime holiday period we paid a lot of money so was very disappointed to have to go out and buy a lot of things as soon as we arrived. Well now we know what VRBO properties are like so we will reconsider renting with them again.

We loved our stay at Lani's condo. Lani was thorough and detailed in her communication and checked in with us throughout our stay to ensure we were comfortable and to give us any updates. The condo had everything we could have asked for during our stay, including Kauai guidebooks, beach chairs and umbrella, beach towels, in-house laundry and basic cooking condiments. Princeville ended up being the ideal place to stay as during our visit as further up north the road to Hannelei closed due to flash flood warnings. We're grateful the Princeville section of highway consistently remains open so we could drive down south.

Great location, very clean and organized place, it is obvious Rick has been doing this for years. Reserved parking spot which is not always included in condo type rentals. All the essentials are there to prepare food which helps with spending more time doing activities and saving money. We loved the place and would love to come back some time in the future.

Staying at Rick’s place is always pleasant and appreciated. The host is very communicative and kind, giving true aloha. His place is extremely well stocked with every kitchen utensil you could ever ask for and even board games books and a very nice TV! This is our second stay here and it is always a gem to find it available. The Paniolo complex has swimming pools and is safe and very beautiful to stay at. Many mahalos!!

This studio was more roomie than I expected:) It was in a great location and host really kept it clean, organized and met needs!! The stuff they had for beach activity was awesome!! Lots of fans, which i know would be helpful in hot times. I was there in Nov and it rained a lot. There are beaches both north & south so very easy to access. We stayed in 4 different places on 3 islands over 16 nights. Although we only stayed 3 nights here, we could have spent our entire time here. The area and Tony’s place were perfect. The condo was perfect; exceptionally clean, well maintained, and all things you might need were provided. The pictures do not do it justice. Tony was a fabulous host; very friendly, hospitable, and ready to provide suggestions and guidance on things to see and do around the area. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Kauai, we will DEFINITELY stay at Tony’s. (We hope this review doesn’t cause his condo to be too busy for our next stay.)

Located in the Mauna Kai community in Princeville, this is a great place to stay if you're looking to mainly relax in north Kauai. We stayed here in mid October and it was very comfortable keeping the windows open and using the ceiling fans available throughout the unit. For those that tend to run hot, a window AC unit is available for the bedroom, but we didn't need it. Keep in mind that hearing the nature noises such as rainfall or roosters is part of the charm of keeping the windows open in a place like this. Since it is thriving condo community, there can be some noise from surrounding neighbors, but we weren't bothered by it. The main living area is very spacious and nicely updated. The hosts, Tony and Judith, live right downstairs and are absolutely wonderful. They even gave us a vase of flowers and a card for our honeymoon. Even though property management is involved in the booking process, Tony made everything feel like it was a traditional b&b during our stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

I rarely give 5 star reviews because it has to be unexpectedly fantastic. But we have had vacation rentals in 8 different states and this one was fine. The big plus was the size. Vacation rentals are trending bigger and bigger. This was a comfortably sized studio just right for me and my wife. The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed wasn't wonkey, the neighborhood was quiet and all the appliances worked. What we want in a rental is a place we "forget" that it's a rental and we got that. So, yes, next time we come to Kauai we would stay here again.

I landed in Kauai without accommodations and Valerie was very responsive. She managed to have the place ready for me within a few hours of my booking. It had everything I needed to prepare my own meals, hit the beach, go snorkeling and get a good nights rest. Walking distance to Princeville shops/restaurants as well as Anini beach and Queens Bath. Highly recommended.

This rental is in a beautiful and lush setting. The outside space is very well appointed and really adds to the rental. Seems to have all of the amenities you need including beach supplies. Only thing that was a bit weird was that I had to make the beds and empty the dishwasher upon arrival. Seems like that would be covered in the cleaning fee. Overall I would recommend this rental

First of all, Jason was great - super friendly, responsive, and helpful. Cannot thank him enough for his help.The space is huge and clean and we enjoyed it for sure. There were plenty of games, stuff for the beach and pool, and TVs to meet every persons interest. The location is also great in Princeville. Note that there are plenty of fans in the condo to make up for the lack of AC, and it really wasn’t too bad especially at night.The only complaint I have is that if you’re a light sleeper, it’s a bit loud between the chickens (which you’ll get everywhere on the island) and the (possible) upstairs neighbors. I think the floor/ceiling is a bit thin so we were woken up by loud footsteps every morning. That said, when I mentioned it to Jason he immediately apologized and tried to contact the owner of that rental to ask them to quiet down. We would definitely stay there again if in the area!

Our family had a very pleasant 5-day stay in Princeville at Mauna Kai. The unit was spacious and clean, and the beds were comfortable. Everything was functional - fans, lights, TV, kitchen appliances, washer.- with the minor exception that we had some troubles with the dryer. The unit has beach chairs in the outside closet and a couple of functional snorkel sets (the beach umbrella was not working).

Overall, this was the perfect place to stay to experience the north shore of Kauai! Less than 10 minutes to Hanalei and less than 30 to Ha'ena Sate Park. The unit itself was clean, very spacious and has a huuuuge lanai with a hot tub and barbecue grill. Kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils which made cooking breakfast in the morning a breeze. Not sure if its listed but there is a plethora of beach items next to the washer and dryer to use. Boogie boards, masks, snorkels, umbrellas, bags, fins and a cooler! The only complaint I have (and this is a small one) is the walk from the parking lot to the unit itself is a bit lengthy. But other than that, 10/10 would stay here again if we are ever in Kauai!

We didn’t expect to use the lanai much, but we were all kind of obsessed with it by the end of our stay. Lots of seating—we ate many meals out there! The beach gear—chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, sand toys—was a nice bonus! We travel a lot and this was our favorite accommodation, remarkably inexpensive for what it offers. From the beginning of the booking process to checking out the host, Rick, was kind, receptive, respectful, and prompt.
The unit was furnished and decorated tastefully with local themes and had the personal touch. With the positioning of the windows and patio screen door, and multiple fans (we only used one), the inside was always cool and fresh. The back patio looked onto a wondrous green garden with a walk through it, and sunrise appears through the trees. No noise from the neighbours nor the condo complex.
Everything was thought of and included in equipment and supplies. The kitchen had complete eating sets and extras such as Tupperware and many condiments. There were two different types of cofeemakers, a large fridge, a toaster, a tea kettle, a pristine large electric skillet/pot, and a toaster oven/air fryer which made this a full kitchen except for a range/oven (not needed) which would have added a $100/day to the price. A clean easy-to-use barbecue at the pool area added to the cooking experience. We appreciated many contact numbers in case we had questions or difficulties. It is in the best location for things to do on Kauai and beach equipment is included. Princeville is a great place.
Rick clearly cares for the satisfaction of his guests. I have no doubt being a host is a passion for him, not just a business. I cannot recommend the unit, and Rick, enough.

This condo was the perfect vacation rental! We enjoyed relaxing on the lawn chairs on the lanai listening to the many birds (and funny roosters), watching the rainstorms, and enjoying the view of the many visible stars at night. We were pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the unit was, especially with kitchen supplies as we prepared the majority of our food in the unit. I cannot say enough positives! Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious, the living space was comfortable, plenty of beach supplies such as floaties, beach chairs, snorkeling gear, and many cooler bags. The unit also had lots of great books to read. On the property there is a pool that is much bigger than the photo makes it appear! It’s a great spot! The nearby barbecue area was also comfortable, clean, and stocked with ping pong and cornhole! The unit was walking distance to a shopping/dining center which we enjoyed walking to for morning coffee! Down the road a few minutes further we also found Queens bath! Overall the unit was great and the location was perfect for us! This was by far the best rental experience I have had!
We had one minor hiccup on arrival in which we found ourselves at the wrong property, as there are several other condo properties nearby, and Sarah was so quick to call to help us find our way to the correct place! She was so kind and helpful! Check out was seamless as well. We would love to come back next time and would highly recommend this unit!

We had a very relaxing stay at this condo. The owner, Tony, who lives below this unit, met us at the entry and even helped with the luggage! Mauna kai was quiet overall,( there are chickens everywhere in Kauai, so every place I've stayed over the past twelve years you can hear them at one time or another). But they were not bothersome. The pool is large, heated, and well maintained; and/ we had no problems with parking. The condos are well situated in Princeville, actually walking distance to the local Foodland and shops. If you love the north shore, you'll love Mauna Kai's location for its proximity to the beaches at this end of the island.
We were there nine days: the condo is well stocked with beach gear, a well-stocked kitchen and bath, informational pamphlets and books about Kauai, and even some recreational reading material. Tony also provided a welcome basket full of snacks and was a friendly and knowledgeable neighbor who we came to consider a friend. Thanks Tony and Judith!

We had everything we needed in this sweet studio duplex. Our host was very responsive and the neighbor Joy was very friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions.
The place itself was sufficient for cooking simple meals. The bed is comfortable and the fan was quite useful for sleeping. The location is excellent. Unfortunately we didn't have much of a view because they're doing construction on the golf course and they've put a green wall/tarp up, but it's still surrounded by beautiful plants and the area is very nice.
We were very pleased with our stay and would definitely come back again!

My husband and I stayed here for a week for our honeymoon! Rick was super easy to communicate with. He responded quickly and was super kind.
We absolutely loved Rick’s property and where it was located in Princeville. There were many amenities, so we didn’t have to worry about buying/renting things, such as snorkeling gear, beach chairs, a cooler, and a beach umbrella. There were also lots of cooking things, so we were able to make our own meals for the week! It definitely saved us some money.
The pool was super nice to swim in, and we loved that we were so close to Hanalei Bay and other beaches like Anini beach.
All-in-all, I would definitely consider staying here again!

There is so much natural light, and the beautiful well-maintained landscaping provided some privacy as well as a lovely backdrop to all our meals. I wondered if being so close to the pool would be noisy, but it wasn't really an issue and the children loved it. The location was very convenient as well for all of our activities. The murphy bed in the living room was super comfortable. However the queen bed in the second bedroom was rather saggy and in need of replacement. The management company responded super quickly when we had an issue with one of the showers. We appreciated having so many towels and beach chairs, toys, etc. provided. We would definitely stay again.

The place did the trick for what we needed. It is pretty small but that showed on the pictures so we knew what to expect. It is well furnished and we appreciated the hot plate to cook as well as the snorkeling equipment. Location is very good, walkable distance to a close beach, easy parking in front of the unit. I agree with the fact that it could use a little update/refresh, and cleanliness could be better (especially if you look behind furnitures). Overall a cheaper option that did the trick for us since we were not spending the day in the unit anyway.

Great location. Large roomy condo with everything you would need in the kitchen. Was nice to have beach chairs supplied and all the little extras for going to the beach. Couldn't have had a better time on Kauai. Thank you Sarah!

Pro- great location near Princeville village and Park. Nice proximity to Anini Beach trail. Very efficient but missed having a full kitchen. Made 3/4 kitchen work but unable to boil veg or rice. I would say this was a fair value and would return

The remodel is really nice and the condo was super clean. There were a few hick ups and I probably would not choose to stay here again. There is no AC which I knew but it would have been nice to have the fans running when we arrived because it was sooooo hot inside therefore no one wanted to go in. The freezer was broken which they told me about the day before our stay so we had no choice. There are no beach chairs but there is a broken umbrella. No master closet to hang clothes in so my suitcase was on the floor in a mess for the time we stayed. The master bath toilet is not bolted to the floor.
The window AC in the master worked well once we turned the fans on but the window AC unit in the other downstairs bedroom did not work. The upstairs loft does not cool off at all and does not have windows. If none of these things would bother you then this is a nice quiet garden condo. Pool is nice also and parking wasn't hard. Overall we had a nice time and just used the place to sleep. Kauai is amazing and we can't wait to go back.

Prefect place to stay for two. Our neighbors Joy and Les were awesome people. Neighborhood was beautiful and felt really safe and quiet, everyone was really friendly. Tons of beaches to play at and beautiful scenery everywhere. Heated pool good for nighttime swimming. Comfortably close to grocery stores, restaurants and shops. My favorite thing about the rental was the amazing view of the mountains right down the road at the local Princeville park. Loved the people I met and the things I saw!

Overall a nice stay but really needs a deep clean and maintenance. It was like going to our 70s era cabin in the mountains of Utah, but dirtier. The master shower was furry at the edges with black mold, curtains and walls are stained with dirt and food, one of the air units leaked like a waterfall, one didn't really cool and in that room the carpet was filthy and the top sheet was a full for a queen bed and the covers had to be washed, also filthy. We were encoraged to go shoeless, but realized quickly that we needed to clean all of the floors as our socks and soles if our feet were black with dirt. Just dirty, dated and worn. Vacasa was responsive overall and did refund the cleaning fee, but it took almost to the end of our stay to get the unusable air unit repaired and get our guest off the couch and into a bed vs sleeping in a hot box like a prisoner of war.

We stayed for 6 nights at this amazing condo in Princeville. It was well stocked, very clean and the location is key - a quick drive to everything on the North Shore. It really felt like a home away from home. Tony was very friendly and even lent us an extra backpack for one of our hikes. Highly recommend this property and definitely will be back!

Great place to stay. Had many amenities of home. Gas grill was a plus! Pool area is awesome even though we didn’t use it much. Would have given 5 stars but it did get a little warm even with the fans, windows and sliders open. Being use to AC it was an adjustment.

I would give 5 stars because this place is really nice, perfectly located and has nice facilities (great pool and ping pong table). ButI’m giving 4 stars for the following reasons:
1. There was broken glass on the floor of the lanais. One of my kids cut their foot, stepping on it. We found more broken glass under the sofa in the TV room.
2. One of the patio doors (behind the sofa) wouldn’t lock because the lock was broken.
3. It was equipped with state of the art equipment (like a Kitchen Aid professional mixer) but didn’t have basic salt and pepper. I’m not looking for all possible spice options but à base would be useful. There was also only 4 toilet paper rolls, 2 paper towel rolls and 3 dishwasher pods. Honestly, that was pretty cheap.
4. I tried contacting Vacasa but, I don’t travel with a roaming plan. The only way to reach them is by phone or text. So, I activated my phone line and, after waiting 15 min on hold and likely paying 30$ in roaming fees I hung up. Dealing with an individual owner is much easier than dealing with a corporation like Vacasa.
Aside from that, the apt was great.

This was an amazing place to stay! We LOVED it! It had everything you needed, it was clean, it was beautiful, it made our vacation awesome!! There are so many little spots to just sit and enjoy this magical island…sip your coffee from any location in the morning and just relax! I loved coming “home” after our adventures each day! Plenty of space for 6 and close to everything! We literally were ten minutes away in each direction to something beautiful! Explored by car and by foot. In the end, we used our last day to revisit our favorite beach- Anini…right down the road.

This is a very comfortable property in the heart of Princeville. We loved the spacious home and also the ease of closeness to the Princeville market area, and the beach. The place is well equipped and we were able to both cook and enjoy the patio in the evenings. The owner is super helpful and never failed to respond back to queries. I hope we can come back some day and stay again.

My family of four just returned home from the best Kauai vacation! This condo was exactly as described and in the perfect location. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was completely stocked, and there was plenty of space for all of us to spread out. We really appreciated that anything we could need at the beach was provided- chairs, coolers, umbrella, boogie boards- the list goes on. It was really great not having to rent that stuff! We just loaded up the rental car and went to the beach. We spent most of our time in Hanalei Bay, only 10 minutes away. There are beautiful beaches all over the place, but Hanalei was perfect! Others have commented on the walk to the beach from the condo, and I’ll agree that it was a really steep hike, but it was worth it! It was so beautiful! I can’t say enough good things about this condo. It checked all the boxes and Kalani was really easy to communicate with. She was very thorough and check in and check out was a breeze. If you’re on the fence about this, don’t wait to book it! Thanks so much Halekalani!

The walking trail to the shopping area is quite pleasant. We did walk part way to the beach, but being in our 70s didnt think it wise to tackle the steep incline on mud. The place is adorable, steps are steep but doable. The fresh beans and grinder were a def bonus! The island itself is AWESOME! Spent the $$$$ on the coastal boat tour, the gardens, and the food. HI is very very expensive, but worth it!
