Wow, this place is awesome! It is clean, roomy, well located, well cared for and just a jewel. That would be plenty to rate 5 star but then they kicked it up many notches. The owners who live downstairs are spectacular people. They are kind and caring and they are there to serve. You won’t go wrong renting this unit!!!

The condo was perfect; exceptionally clean, well maintained, and all things you might need were provided. The pictures do not do it justice. Tony was a fabulous host; very friendly, hospitable, and ready to provide suggestions and guidance on things to see and do around the area. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Kauai, we will DEFINITELY stay at Tony’s. (We hope this review doesn’t cause his condo to be too busy for our next stay.)

Located in the Mauna Kai community in Princeville, this is a great place to stay if you're looking to mainly relax in north Kauai. We stayed here in mid October and it was very comfortable keeping the windows open and using the ceiling fans available throughout the unit. For those that tend to run hot, a window AC unit is available for the bedroom, but we didn't need it. Keep in mind that hearing the nature noises such as rainfall or roosters is part of the charm of keeping the windows open in a place like this. Since it is thriving condo community, there can be some noise from surrounding neighbors, but we weren't bothered by it. The main living area is very spacious and nicely updated. The hosts, Tony and Judith, live right downstairs and are absolutely wonderful. They even gave us a vase of flowers and a card for our honeymoon. Even though property management is involved in the booking process, Tony made everything feel like it was a traditional b&b during our stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

First off, let me say that by staying at this property you will meet one of the kindest and thoughtful human beings (Tony). We were also able to meet his lovely bride! The place is fantastic and the pictures don’t even do it justice. It’s immaculate and everything we needed or could anticipate needing was part of the rental. PLUS - we booked this trip to celebrate our 5-year anniversary and arrived to a lovely bouquet, gift basket, champagne and a thoughtful card. I can’t say enough great things about our time there, the proximity to beaches, Hanalei and the incredible people we met.
I had been initially hesitant because we do like to use a king bed but the Queen was perfect, comfortable and worked great for us.
We cannot wait to go back and will DEFINITELY use this property again!

The apartment was clean, had nice views from balcony, and was a great location very easy to walk to downtown Lahaina. It was decorated very nicely and bed was comfortable and the room stayed nice and cool while we were away. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Maui!

You see a lot of short term rentals titled “Home away from home” and maybe like 20% of them are accurate, but THIS ONE IS TRULY A HOME AWAY FROM HOME!
From the moment you walk in, the decor is welcoming and warm. If you’re a tech person, the wifi is high speed, smart TV is awesome (airplay available), lighting remote controlled, and all the appliances are new (I thought the microwave was cool haha). All the ports in the house even have USB connections which was awesome! The kitchen and living area has anything you might think you need.
Moving on to the bed & bath~ Your bed at home will always win the prize for comfort, but this was certainly a close second to our Purple bed at home. I also think it’s awesome that there is an AC unit in the master for those sensitive to hot nights. A big thing for me is the water pressure on the shower and it was perfect! Tony has definitely thought of anything you may need making it a true home away from home.
As a cherry on top, Tony lives in the unit below and is one of those human beings you come across, get to know, and just feel so happy you had the pleasure of meeting them. I can’t say enough good things about Tony and just so happy we had the pleasure of staying here for our honeymoon. I couldn’t have had it any other way! We’ll certainly be back in the future :)

Simply amazing. To start, if you are debating visiting the North Shore of Kauai during the summer, stop thinking and pull the trigger. The beaches are breathtaking, the most beautiful we have seen on all of the islands. Crystal clear turquoise water, an abundance of snorkeling options, and breathtaking views. This is the first time we have seen turtles, monk seals, and dolphins all in the same trip while just hanging out at the beach. We had Anini Beach and Secret Beach practically to ourselves.
Tony's place was immaculately clean. Everything is labeled, you can tell a lot of care and love is put into this property. We had everything we needed from chairs, to snorkeling gear, beach bag, cooler, and towels. Huge TV with all the Apps you could want. Bed was comfortable and there is a window AC unit in the bedroom which kept us cool at night. Lots of windows and fans. During the winter I'm sure this place stays very cool, it was a little toasty for us though and we needed the AC at night. The balcony view is great, not a beachfront balcony but you can see a sliver of the ocean with beautiful trees and plants along the way. The property was beautiful and well maintained. Pool was much bigger than we gathered from the pictures, we didn't use it but it did seem heated from dipping our toes.
There is a 10-15 minute trail from the apartment down to the far end of Anini Beach, it is steep and the this part of the beach is not really swimmable. Lots of coral though may be nice for snorkeling. Walk to Queens Bath is about 30-45 minutes (easy neighborhood walking until you hit the trail) and I didn't find the trail down or up to be that difficult. There was some parking outside of Queens Bath but it was very limited. There is a shopping center about 10-15 minutes of neighborhood walking away, we always drove though, it's a very short drive. They have a few restaurants, Food Land, and live music every night. Hanalei was about a 10 minute drive with more dining options, food trucks, shops, and beautiful views.
Tony was very attentive and made it a point to check on us. This was an amazing vacation and I would not hesitate to book this property again.
One small thing for us was the couch. Neither of us found it particularly comfortable for an extended period of time. Obviously Kauai is not the place to sit on the couch and watch TV, and this would not stop us from booking again, just wanted to share our opinion. Mahalo for an amazing and memorable vacation!

I also think it’s awesome that there is an AC unit in the master for those sensitive to hot nights. A big thing for me is the water pressure on the shower and it was perfect! Tony has definitely thought of anything you may need making it a true home away from home.
As a cherry on top, Tony lives in the unit below and is one of those human beings you come across, get to know, and just feel so happy you had the pleasure of meeting them. I can’t say enough good things about Tony and just so happy we had the pleasure of staying here for our honeymoon. I couldn’t have had it any other way! We’ll certainly be back in the future :)

My wife and I stayed at this property for our honeymoon and it was everything we could ask for. It was clean, well-appointed, and well-located for a relaxing stay. The property manager Tony was a friendly, delightful man with a passion for astronomy and his pictures of faraway galaxies via his telescope were incredible to see. Highly recommend this property for anyone who wants to stay on the North Shore.

Great location & hospitality. You can walk to the shops & restaurants in Princeville & also walk to the secluded Anini Beach from the condo. Only 2 miles from Hanalei Bay.
If you have time, do yourself a favor & visit with Tony downstairs.

We loved this place! Kitchen had everything needed and wanted. All the beach gear: chairs, umbrella, towels, cooler, boogie boards were a great asset. Nicely decorated and very comfortable furnishings and bed. Tony was a great host!

This place honestly made our entire honeymoon!! Our host, Tony, has thought of everything and we cannot thank him enough. From all the goodies we received on arrival (including 2 fresh lei's), to being so warm and welcoming. Nothing was left out, there was even a bottle of defogger for the snorkelling equipment he provided. Mind blown!!! We have told Tony this already but will say it again here, we WILL be back! We had a lovely stay at Tony's place. First of all, the property is exactly as the pictures make it out to be. The place was immaculately clean and organized. It really felt like staying in our own home and even though I can be pretty OCD about cleanliness when vacationing, I never felt icky or uncomfortable at Tony's. I also appreciated all of the decor and cute touches like labeled light switches. It was also recently remodeled I believe and well done at that. The kitchen was fully stocked with new appliances, equipment, and misc things like salt, oil, and pepper. The best part that really made our trip was Tony himself. He stayed in the downstairs of the property which is completely separate BTW. When we first got there, he welcomed us into his own home and offered us beer and snacks and really made us feel like family. He is also an astronomy expert and spent a night showing us the stars and celestial bodies through his high end telescope. It was truly an amazing night. I could go on forever about how great our experience was but I will just say I just got back home today and am already missing our new friend Tony and thinking about planning our next stay.

Location was great- close by to many beaches, hikes and restaurants. Tony is an amazing host. Anything we could ever imagine needing was at hand. Loved the full kitchen and living space. Would highly recommend and would book again in a heartbeat.

This Mona Kai condo in Princeville is perfect, really, in every way. An immaculate, beautifully decorated, welcoming, relaxing 1 BR condo less than a mile to Princeville Center (where you will find a market, some great little places to eat, a farmer’s market on Saturday’s, shops, post office etc. Tony, the owner, makes you feel like family the moment you meet him, and everything you need is at the condo. The fresh pineapple and salty treats in a basket was an extra “welcome” treat. Easy to get to beaches, the golf course, Hanalei and the Kilauea Light House, beautiful view off the lanai - always a gentle breeze. Book a astronomy night with Tony - amazing to see into the depths of space (we were lucky and saw 2 galaxies). Birdwatching - Laysan albatross, egrets, red crested cardinals, etc. Treat yourself and stay at the gem! Thanks again Tony for everything and many great memories - thanks for sharing your favorite spot in Hanalei - wishing you many quiet, beautiful moments!

This was our first time to Princeville, and it was so beautiful. Our quaint condo was situated right behind the Westin, where my daughter was staying so it was an easy walk back and forth. This place had everything you needed. And Tony was an amazing host. We were even privileged to have an evening star gazing or better yet, seen some amazing galaxies with his digital telescope. His place was clean and fully equipped with everything you needed for a day at the beach. Anything you needed, Tony was there to help. The only thing that was not well kept was the pool area. The pool and pooldeck could use a good cleaning and weeds were growing through the cracks in pavement. Also there was only one Barbecue and it was not very clean. And the tables and counter area of the BBQ area was very dirty. I wouldn't want to eat there. I never seen anyone using that area either. We usually went over to BBQ with my daughter. This place is also walking distance to Princeville village which has a great market and good restaurants. But be prepared for everything to shut down early as this is a very quite community.

Stayed here for a week with a buddy and it worked out great. The check-in process was smooth and the unit was clean and well-decorated. Honestly, we thought the unit had 2 beds (that was on us -- we didn't read close enough) so one of us took the bed and the other took the futon and it wound up working out fine. Tony, the owner who lives below, was incredibly nice and generous. All-in-all, we had a great stay and I'd gladly stay here again my next time in Kauai.
