Everything was easily taken care of and as advertised. there was construction going on in the complex and it was noisy, but that also got me a discounted rate so no complaints. Now the roosters on the other hand….but that is everywhere on the island!

The unit was in a great location on the island. 5 minute walk to the beach, supplied beach chairs came in handy. The unit itself is very nice. Note that there is no air conditioning which did make for some hot days but there are lots of fans available.

Great location! Well stocked kitchen. I would recommend a tile grout and carpet cleaning, but otherwise was nicely cleaned. Sleeping without ac was a little uncomfortable, but the location made up for it. The Murphy bed was very comfortable (but I couldn’t find sheets so used the top sheet from the master bed. Overall, a very nice trip. Thank you!

This property was exactly what we needed while we explored various parts of the Island. The condo was clean, roomy and had excellent amenities that we needed for the 2nd half of our Hawaii trip. Full Kitchen and laundry services were a major plus, helping us keep breakfast and lunch costs down, as well as helping limit our packing with laundry. Kitchen had every thing we needed and soap/detergent/etc. were available for use. Condo had additional amenities such as beach gear and coolers to help with our daily excursions. Nice view of lawn from inside condo and view of ocean from part of the Patio.

Perfect place for two—very quiet but convenient for walks by the ocean or nearby dining options. Great kitchen with all the tools/dishes you could need, also.

We enjoyed staying there so much, we booked another condo in the same location next year. That one was already booked. Comfortable, well-appointed, amazing location! The property management company is quick to respond, friendly and efficient. We loved walking out of our back door to the beach. Other beaches are all a short drive away.

We stayed with our 4 month old baby for a week. Great location. Easy walk to the beach and coastal trail. Peaceful property with everything you need. We rented baby gear from a local provider and the staff coordinated with them to have it all set up before we arrived.

The property was very nice and exactly as advertised. Neighbors were noisy, but that is the luck of the draw.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Piop’u Sands. The condo was right next to the Grand Hyatt where my wife had a conference. Perfect location for exploring the South Shore of Kaua’i. It was great having a kitchen and dining area. They even had beach chairs, towels and coolers for us to take to the beach. It made our lives so much more comfortable and our trip that much more enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.

This condo was great for our stay in Kaua’i. Great location and very clean. Good access to the beach. Would definitely stay again in this area with the same company.

Mahalo, Leah & Steve We can't tell you enough how much we loved your immaculate, end unit condo with no one above us. It was completely stocked like a home. Everything you could possibly want for the beach was there, beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, noodles, coolers! The bed was comfy with quality linens all in excellent condition. As this was our first trip to Kauai, we found the location to be perfect for exploring just about all of the island including taking a helicopter ride. Having the many wonderful restaurants in the immediate area was another real plus. We especially loved the Beach House, Merriman's, Roys, Brenneke's, and the Hyatt. According to many employees at the establishments and other guests that frequent Kauai, the heat and humidity has been unusual for Sept. & Oct this year. We did fine with the ceiling fans and the slight breeze coming in through the windows on the end of the unit. We would definitely recommend your condo to anyone looking into the Poipu area of Kauai. Again, mahalo

When we arrived it was 88 Degrees, 85% humidity, no Trade winds and NO AIR CONDITIONING!!! Being from the mainland and our first trip to Hawaii, we had no clue that you had to request air conditioning in VRBO (advanced search option - amongst all the other "extras" - you have to look for it). Needless to say we could not sleep in this unit. The disadvantage of being on the ground floor added the concern about leaving the patio door open all night. There was no crosswind in the bedroom unless the doors were opened and the small fan that they had in the closet appeared to stop working in the night. On top of that their bed is VERY soft... so you sink down into the bed, which did NOT help with the heat. Needless to say, we only stayed one night and paid twice by getting a hotel room that was air conditioned - luckily we found one on short notice. Now, the condo is very nicely filled with "extra" goodies. Games, puzzles, wifi, movies, one set of swim shoes and snorkels, beach chairs, boogie boards. towels, trail books for the island, ice chests (two sizes) and freezer trays to put into the ice chests. If we had understood that you had to have trade winds to enjoy this condo, it would have changed when we came to Hawaii.

We really enjoyed our week in Kauai. The location is great. We chose it because it was and end unit, with no one above or below us (since we are light sleepers). We appreciated the privacy. We loved how homey the place is. Steve and Lea have done a great job with furnishings and decorations. The kitchen is well stocked with any dish ware or cooking utensils you may need. They also were so good about answering any questions we had before arriving. We had no problems while we were there so there was no need to contact the manager. We truly enjoyed beautiful Kauai and it was really nice to come home to 411 to relax after playing in the ocean or taking in the sights. We hope to do it again someday!

Our first trip to Hawaii and we couldn't have chosen a more romantic getaway to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. The condo was amazing! Comfortable, charming, elegant, peaceful and well furnished. The resort area was beautiful and has easy access to the beach and amazing hikes along the south shore. A pocket of sunshine always seemed to sit over Poipu and the location is central for touring the rest of the Island. Steve and Leah do a wonderful job giving you a home away from home in a tropical paradise. Thank you for helping make our first trip to Hawaii memorable! We will definitely return!!

Steve & Leah, Thank you for opening your vacation home to so many people. You have truly made this condo feel like home. I found that the condo had everything you need while on vacation, from beach chairs to bug spray, nail polish remover, sandwich baggies and so on. I can tell that a lot of thought and love has gone into this rental property. My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The south shore of Kauai is a good, centralized location if you plan on exploring all of the island like we did. The condo was clean and well stocked on arrival. We did not have any issues with wifi, cable, etc. Shipwreck beach next to the condo is beautiful and great for boogie boarding, but not so much for swimming as the rip tide is very strong. We used the pool once. It was clean and the grounds were beautiful. The rest of the complex and surrounding areas are very quiet and peaceful. The condo does not have A/C but instead glass slat windows for an open air feel. This made the condo hot and humid at times. This would be my only complaint, however, the condo has a couple of ceiling fans and a oscillating fan for the bedroom. We hope to return for future anniversaries! Thank you!

Steve and Leah, Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with our family. We spent 10 days on the beautiful island of Kauai and in this condo--home away from home! Your condo had everything we needed to make our stay easy and comfortable. This is our 4th time to Kauai, our 3rd stay at the Poipu Sands, but our first time in your unit....by far, it has been our favorite condo in all of our experiences! Comfy king bed, easy wall bed for our two boys to share, excellently equipped kitchen, the condo is beautifully decorated and nicely updated with all the conveniences of home. We enjoy the ground unit, not having anyone on top of us, it was quiet! Easy access to the pool, walking path right out the door, bbq's, wonderful views, and beautifully kept grounds. The maintenance staff at the Poipu Sands does a great job of maintaining the grounds and pool and are so friendly! We highly recommend this property and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, what a lovely place!! Thank you for your excellent communication with us, the recommendations and all the information you provided ahead of time, it was a pleasure working with you! Thank you, thank you!!!

Honestly, this is a home away from home. This was our first visit to Kauai and first experience using vrbo listings. Steve & Lea's place is in immaculate condition with everything you will need & more. It is on the ground floor close to the BBQ area (which is cleaned daily) and steps away from the path to the Hyatt Regency & Shipwreck Beach next door. Woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise seen right from our lanei and a short morning walk down to see the turtles bobbing in the surf. (just to the right towards Poipu Point) Took late afternoon walks past the Hyatt and onto the heritage trail to Makehuena Pt. (the cliff you seen on the left side of the beach). This trail was very relaxing & quite easy to manage. Visited the local markets but found the Koloa market on Mondays at noon the best for variety & freshness. Also went to the market at the Kauai Community College (KCC) in Lihue (think it was Tuesday at 3pm), they had fruit/vegetables but also had a lot of Kauai made products including soap, herbal remedies, spring rolls etc..... Even though we went in winter months (Nov 2-16) we had beautiful 85 degree weather, rained mostly at night or just a few minutes when a cloud blew in and the trade winds made sleeping very comfortable. We did use the fan a few nights when the humidity was higher. Became familiar with touring the island quite quickly as there is mainly only 1 highway which changes names as you go from west, south, east to north. Loved it all and you have to try the coconut shrimp at Shrimp Station in Kapa'a....its to die for. Also Pizzetta's in Koloa was one of favorite dining spots for the homemade pasta and friendly & warm atmosphere....ask for Pat or Larissa (managers who go out of their way for you) Can't wait to return and this is where I plan to stay even though you are not ocean front you can see the ocean from the corner of the lanai and are central to everything. The only disappointment was the luau at the Sheraton....don't waste your money....our luau was to be outside but they changed to inside at a meeting room that took away all the charm of the show...and food was not very good and they seem to rush the entire evening as everything was by the clock.... If you want a great luau go to Smith's (one of the best on the island) in Wailua. Thanks again Steve & Lea for sharing your great place with us and making our first visit to Kauai a memorable one and wishing to return real soon colleen, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

My husband and I came to Poipu Sands for part of our honeymoon and had a fabulous time. This unit was lovelier than the photos even conveyed. The bed was enormous and comfy—with about six pillows to choose from, including fluffy down ones. (My preference. I can't stand polyfill--but they had those, too.) The sheets were luxuriously soft—must’ve been super-high thread count. There are two bathrooms—one with a shower/bathtub—thick Turkish cotton towels, and toiletries that are custom-labeled for this unit. There’s also a washer-dryer, which came in handy after some of our messier hikes (like the Alakai Swamp). Owners Steve and Lea have thoughtfully provided a few useful items—snorkeling mask w/ snorkel, insulated bag for beach picnics, beach chairs, and a great Hawaiian bird book. (There was also a good book on local hikes.) But we were most impressed with the kitchen, which was well-equipped for cooking (and even baking, though we didn’t get around to that. ;-)) There was a coffee pot, kettle, blender, dish washer, toaster, many cutting boards, good knives, a variety of pans, veggie peelers, plenty of plates, bowls, mugs, wine glasses, etc. Some previous guests had left behind honey, cooking oil, a few spices, etc. (greatly appreciated!) and there was also some saran wrap and plastic zip loc bags which came in handy for storing food. We also enjoyed the open layout of the kitchen. While one person is cooking the other can sit at the bar with a glass of wine and carry on a conversation. The location of the condo is pretty fabulous, too. Though you can’t see the ocean from the lanai, you could if you scooted the lawn chair out onto the grass a bit. (Just remember not to hang bathing suits out on the lanai overnight or the sprinklers—which go off in during the night—will soak them again.) The pool is a short walk from the condo, and when we were there it was usually empty. Best part: the condo is quiet. There’s no unit above or below you and the only sound I heard (besides birds) were the sprinklers going off at strange times. We slept very well at Poipu Sands. The only complaint I had was that there’s no light in the bedroom closet. I rejoiced when I found a luggage stand in the closet, but then I couldn’t see anything in my suitcase once I started unpacking. I am a former travel magazine editor—and still write about travel for a variety of publications—and that was the only thing I found lacking at this daring little condo.

This is our second stay in Steve and Leah's lovely condo! We leave tomorrow morning....sadly. The attention to detail in this condo is fabulous. We absolutely love this condo and will never stay elsewhere on Kauai.

August 2013
We just got home from our trip and wish we were still there! The condo was excellent for our needs. It was immaculately clean, I was extremely pleased with how spotless everything was. Very comfortable furniture throughout. The kitchen has everything you could need and more. The BBQs on the property were in wonderful condition, very clean and a thirty second stroll across the lawn from the unit. Parking is so close and there is a small walkway right to the unit that no one else uses so we always had about 10 parking spots to choose from. The pool is clean and very close to the unit (only drawback is that there is not a hot tub right there) a hot tub is at the main Poipu Kai pool but we never bothered to go find it. With the windows and the ceiling fans, the unit was always nice and comfortable. There is a family of chickens that live in the tree right outside and were always a form of entertainment. It is key to remember to keep the screen door shut so they don't venture indoors ;) The Hyatt is a short 5 min walk away. Steve and Leah's condo is perfect and we were more than pleased to find it so nice, clean and fully stocked. The beach chairs, boogie boards and two coolers were especially nice to have. If I could search for something to nitpick it would be that there are only two beach towels provided. They are really nice thick ones, however, the down side to that is that they take a long time to naturally dry out. We are they types to hit the beach in the AM then hit the pool in PM so we found it necessary to buy two more towels so we had a dry and clean towel for the pool in the afternoon. If you feel that two beach towels will not be enough, then I suggest you bring a spare towel or two. We had two minor issues with the internet and then the TV. I am pleased to say that the cable company on island was extremely fast in getting our internet repaired and the lady who takes care of the unit was extremely fast in getting the TV back in working order, she is definitely an asset to the owners. I was very happy with the service provided on both accounts (where we live, it would have taken our cable company a week to get out and their cable company was out within 1/2 a day!) Note that it is a cable type of connection for internet so if Wifi is of importance to you then look into using a mobile hotspot from your smart phone (which is what we did for a good portion of the time). I highly suggest this unit and hope to return soon! Mahalo Steve and Leah!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
