We were able to check in early (11am) because the property was cleaned the previous day. The view from the lanai was fantastic! Didn't see any whales but saw dolphins. The property is a little older and the pool was just sad, but they include access to the Athletic club which has a resort-caliber pool and amenities. The living room sofa and chair were also a bit past their prime. There is access to a lava rock shore that is quite impressive. Had to be careful about food on the counters because there were tiny ants that would gather if anything was left out - to be expected in Hawaii - especially an older ground-floor condo. Would definitely consider staying here again!

The 2 bedroom unit was nicely appointed, well equipped and came with a lovely club membership that included swim, pickleball, tennis, fitness and a nice casual restaurant.
We loved the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the lava rocks beyond our unit. Sitting on the terrace or the rocks below and watching the sunset was such a treat!
The unit was well located for most of our activities (hiking, dining, snorkeling, spelunking, golf, sea turtle watching and more). Each evening we had a rousing game before falling asleep to amazing stars!
We could have used another week!

Very nice patio with comfortable furniture. Watched every sunset from the lounge chairs. Loved listening to the waves crashing on the rocks below as we went to sleep and waking up to such a beautiful view. We will definitely try to stay here again. The building is super easy to get to plus it’s close to everything.If you need a big car or struggle with backing in this is not the place for you. It’s tight especially on the lower level.
The unit is nice and the air conditioning worked well. The second bedroom smelled like a cat lived in it so did the second bathroom. We didn’t use them but beware.The primary bathroom is nice and the bed was super comfortable. There were plenty of pillows and blankets throughout. I only wish the linens were a little nicer.
The sunset views are spectacular! We had dinner on the patio a few nights. This unit is not an easy walk to a sandy beach. You will need to drive there. There are ants everywhere, kitchen, bathroom, living room. They are small but you can’t leave anything on the counter.
The unit doesn’t feel private. An hour after checkin, my wife just got out of the shower and a maintenance man let himself in to install a blind. We had no warning.
There is no blinds on the kitchen window and people walking through the unit can see in.
Second day we were leaving for dinner and there was a blender on the doorstep. Again no warning.
Later in the week we received a notice they needed us out of the unit to spray for bugs. Great but that day we had plans and needed the unit to get ready. Thirty minutes before they were scheduled to start, my wife gets walked in on by the exterminator. She was dressed but 2nd instance.
Even with all the issues we still had a great time.

The property was even better then listed in pictures. Condo was super clean and had all the amenities as far as beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas. Easy check in process and the host/manager were very communicative. Kitchen was well appointed with everything you need. Great location was paramount, spent most days watching water, turtles, sunset and stars. Thank you for a 5 star experience, we will be back!

We enjoyed this lovely home for our family trip to Kauai! The rental had everything we needed for a relaxing trip. We especially loved the sunset view from the lanai right on the water. With just a short walk down the beach path, we also had a great sunrise view. Having the beach equipment - umbrella, chairs, beach towels was really helpful. The air conditioning worked well and kept us comfortable. The owner was very responsive and corrected one issue. We appreciated the available parking, but be aware that there are steps from the parking to the unit when you have luggage to manage.

Previous 2 stays were at the condo just down the road from where we stay this was a 2 story condo and at our age requested a single story condo because my wife has a hard time with stairs. The E-1 was a very nice unit with no stair in the unit, BuTTT it was necessary to navigate 27 stairs to just get to the entrance door. Everytime we had to leave for somethig it meant navigating the 27 stairs, so the rep must not have been familiar with the property.Only thing about the condo was the eletric stove top. all burner knobs were worn and mis labels as far as the power controls. Burned many a dinner before we just stopped using stove top. Nice property except for that,

The Poipu Makai has a stunning location and view right outside the patio.
The week was humid and we were thankful for the highly effective and quiet air conditioning, which made for good nights sleep. The beds and couch were very comfortable with ample linens and towels. It was very nice to have a dishwasher and laundry. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook. We cooked all of our meals here.
The location couldn’t be better. We were able to walk to Poipu beach after dinner to watch sunsets. It was an easy drive to several beaches and Waimea canyon. The condo and surrounding area was quiet, peaceful, and well maintained.
There is a small short path just outside the condo that led down to the lava rock shore. We went down there several times because it was so accessible and easy. It was fun to explore the shore this way, especially with kids.
Check in process was easy and communication was great. I would recommend staying here and would do so again!

Amazing location, stunning view. It's possible to see turtles (we saw them every day!) and dolphins (we saw them once) right from the edge. The are great cliff walks very nearby, and beaches you can walk to in both directions. Stand up, look along the coast to your right, and there are stunning sunsets every evening!
The apartment was well stocked, and comfortable. The only thing is you'll be arguing about who has the bedroom with the view!
Everything was good about our stay. The only thing was the freezer was frozen shut when we got there! We manager to pry it open so we could make ice cubes, and use it for ice cream of course!
There was plenty of kitchenware, bedding, and there were some towels for the beach.
Sitting at the outside table was a delight, morning and night!

Truly enjoyed staying at this property. It was clean, tidy, and inviting. Decor and amenities were on point. No issues. I even liked the exterior condo suite entry door that provided us some additional peace of mind when using the screen door for air flow. Great location as Poipu/Koloa has a lot of options available. But the truly exceptional feature is the view from the lanai. We loved sitting outside to view the sunrises, sunsets, and everything in between. It was very cathartic. Everyone we ran into at the complex was pleasant and had that aloha spirit. I would definitely stay at this property for a future visit to the island. THANK YOU so much for your hospitality.

I bypassed other rentals when zeroing in on this one...thrilled that I did! Beautiful, inviting, comfy condo. Ground floor, walk out to grass, flowers, steps to walkable rock outcrop on the ocean. Sand not required for us. The Poipu Beach Athletic membership was a great surprise, used it & loved it, more than the plunge pool that was also inviting "at home". Great spot for exploring Poipu area and jumping off to Waimea beauty. We appreciated comments about many steps from parking lot, very manageable for spry folks. E 1, Everything 1st class.

The vacation rental in Poipu was wonderful. The view is absolutely beautiful, makes you not want to leave the condo.
Beds were comfortable. Place was clean and ready for our arrival. Nicely decorated as well.
Couple of things that need attention are the fridge/ freezer and knobs on stove. Otherwise good, and management was very prompt.
The only thing I would say that I was not a fan of was having to pay for use of the aquatic park, regardless if you used it. We went one day for approximately 1.5 hours. If I wanted that type of vacation I would have booked an all inclusive. Hawaii has the most beautiful beaches, you don’t need a spot like that.
Otherwise, would recommend this spot.

Overall a great place. Communication in regard to refrigerator/freezer issue ahead of time would have been appreciated. Lost some food in the freezer. When we called they were aware of the issue and a part was on order, but again no notice until we called. We enjoyed the location and overall the place was great. Minor housekeeping issues should be looked at.

A well-appointed ground-floor condo with a large lanai opening on to a wonderful sunset view over the Pacific. The lounges on the lanai are a great location for sun for most of the day and protected from the trade winds. The unit is quite comfortable and an easy walk to Brennecke's Beach, Poipu Beach Park and Waiohai Beach. A gas barbecue grill and a small swimming pool are steps away in the condo complex. Access to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club is available and a huge selling point for the unit. We walked or ran the roughly 1.3 miles from the condo to the club everyday to work out. Good workout facilities and classes as well as resort-style swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts. Poipu Makai E1 is a solid choice if you are looking for an oceanfront condo in Poipu.

This property is beautiful inside and out. It truly felt like coming home for a week, whether we left for the day or not we were able to totally relax and take it all in. The view is worth a million dollars. The condo needs some minor repairs/freshening up but as seasoned condos renters, they were minor and did not impede any comfort for us. Inwould rent this condo again.

Was excited about our stay as the listing looked amazing. When we got here, it didn’t start well. They were gracious enough to let us check in a little earlier than our 3pm as they said maid service was done. We arrived 40 minutes to our regular check in time. When we arrived, all the cushions were on the floor so we were wondering if they were still cleaning. Vicky said they were done. We looked at the floors and counters and they did not look clean at all. We contacted Vicky and she said that housekeeping said it was our fault for checking in 40 minutes early and that we may probably left doors open for the floors to get dirty, huh? How do the floors and counter get dirty in the minute or two we arrived. Did the cushions also get blown to the floor? No accountability but just finger pointing. At least Vicky was apologetic at first. We took pictures and finished cleaning up on our own with cleaning supplies they had there. Even management said it was a horrible job. Our vacation and we are cleaning the place to make it livable for our stay. Then after a couple of days we tried to open the blinds in the master bedroom to enjoy the view and blinds wouldn’t work. I called Vicky and she implied that we broke it because it was working before we got there. After I told her that I didn’t appreciate her implying we broke it, she said that she didn’t check and again used the early check in as the reason she didn’t get to do the inspection. How checking in 40 minutes early led to all the parts of the place not working or being clean is highly frustrating. Taking accountability and making it right would have been the right thing to do. On a positive note, the place is nicely located and inside layout was great but lots of things that were not working. We had to deal with a refrigerator that decided not to work for a day and just make loud noises throughout the night and after started working again. Remote for tv didn’t work and was cracked and I let her know but no response. Crazy that all I kept doing was letting them know about every little thing that wasn’t working in this place. Not sure if location and view is a good trade off for all the problems with this place. Expected more but got a lot less. Hopefully they fix everything before anyone else rents that place out.

So many good things to say about this stay. The view was outstanding. Like a postcard. Only drawbacks: couldn't get ahold of PM To unlock the safe, couldn't find the iron and the closets were pretty jam packed, so there weren't many places to hang things (we were here for our wedding). Also, a few more towels would be nice for a long stay. But honestly, these are quibbles, we loved it!

The views and location were exceptional. However, the amenities were below what we had expected. The pool was dirty and cloudy, which deterred us from using it. Additionally, the AC units looked new, but were not functional. When we inquired about them, the owner stated AC was not included in the rental.

This is a lovely place with a very magical lanai on the water. The decor is beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. The only thing I would mention is there is quite a bit of stairs and it is difficult for someone who isn’t in good shape to carry the luggage and groceries up and down the stairs and the stairs should have handrails. even though the apartment is on the ground floor, you will need to take quite a few stairs to get there. However it is well equipped with most everything you could possibly need to have a wonderful vacation.

We had such a good time staying here. It was clean and comfortable, and the view from the balcony is amazing.
We watched sea turtles swim by every morning and we even watched dolphins.
There was everything you need included for going to the beach. We had another friend join us and they were very accommodating. The area is great, not busy and quiet. There's also lots of beaches near by.
Only issues, (I use the term very lightly because it actually wasn't an issue at all) was there was no A/C, the units are there but not fully installed. We just opened the windows and doors and the breeze was enough to keep everyone cool. And there was some normal household pests. We aren't used to that so once we talked to them about it, it was fine and manageable. Just don't leave any opened food on the counter, (we kept most things in the fridge) and don't let dirty dishes sit.
We had an amazing time and if we needed a place to stay in Kuaui, I would definitely book here again. We will definitely be returning!

We loved this place. The view is outstanding. I loved that it was on the first floor (although there are lots of stairs to negotiate getting to the front door), because the patio is bigger than a lanai, and you can walk out to the edge of the property for more views. We saw dolphins and turtles just off the shore. All the beds were good, and the kitchen was stocked. It’s a half mile walk to Poipu beach. I would stay here again. The only drawback was no AC, but with windows and doors open, and fans, it was OK. We were here I. August, so maybe warmer than usual.

The apartment was clean and very well equipped (kitchen, beach towels, beach gear was great). The location was great and had a beautiful view. When we arrived we were surprised to learn there was no A/C and we were very concerned as I did not see it on the listing...I checked the listing again and couldn't find anything except that it had ceiling fans.
Turns out that once we opened the windows and turned on the fans (each room had a ceiling and floor fan), it was very pleasant, lots of breeze off the ocean. So we were pleasantly surprised.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The views are unbeaten. We were able to enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets, pods of dolphins swimming. We loved the path down to the rocks for a sunset view that’s one of the best I’ve ever seen. Beautifully decorated condo and excellent beach equipment. We will certainly stay here again!

This condo is in a DREAM location...a corner spot right on the beach. Lava rocks, palm trees, sunsets like you've never seen before. Truly incredible. We watched dolphins jump out of the water right in front of our patio every morning. The perfect, private honeymoon spot. The property was very clean and comfortable. Our host was wonderful, answered questions quickly, and made the whole process seamless and easy. The passes to the local athletic club were a wonderful perk... we played tennis everyday and enjoyed drinks and apps at the clubhouse there. The negative reviews for this property are completely unfounded... I don't know how anyone could have a negative experience here! If this property doesn't make you happy, no property will make you happy. We would go back and stay anytime!
One suggestion... It would have been great if the cupboard had been stocked with some coffee and spices. We made it just fine without, but that would have been a nice perk. Mahalo!

Stayed for 4 nights. Excellent location. Beautiful sunset. Relaxing sounds of waves crashing on rocks (it gets louder during the night but got used to it). Sea turtles swimming. Close to Poipu and Shipwreck beach. Well appointed kitchen and laundry area. Complete beach equipments. Very comfortable for 4 people. No AC so warm during the summer days. Easy check in and check out. Athletic club access was nice. One thing to note, there will be stairs going down from the parking area. I can see it as a problem with heavy luggage and mobility issues. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Amazing to stay right next to shoreline, always a cool breeze through the condo. Clean lovely furnishings. Quiet neighborhood, felt very private. Amazing view of sunrise and sunset. Dolphins and sea turtles outside the window.
The waves did get loud during a storm. Parking was tricky in a rental SUV.

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon and unfortunately had some issues. The floors upon arrival were filthy (we have a 6 mo. baby who is crawling. It was gross), and the screen door lock was broken. I called the first day for support and nobody came. Called again the 2nd day and management did come and fix the door and brought us wine glasses (there was only 1 upon arrival); my husband felt bad asking her to clean the floors so he did it himself and went through SIX Swiffer heads before they finally stopped coming up black with dirt. We got some pushback about a moldy piece of art, which I thought was odd (why question us about it? But she did eventually remove it). The worst part however was definitely the lack of privacy. They were doing construction on the above unit which prevented my baby from napping in the 2nd bedroom we were paying for, and there was a man working right outside the bathroom window all day long. You are also *very* close to your neighbors. One neighbor decided to chain-smoke right in front of our lanai 24/7. This was the 3rd place we stayed on the island during our trip and our least enjoyable. For the amount we paid we were really hoping for a better experience. The view is at least incredible, if someone isn’t smoking in front of it all day long 😊

We have been to Poipu 7-8 times and this was our first stay at Poipu Makai, we loved everything about the place! This home was lovely, the plunge pool was refreshing, the complex is quite and the location just can’t be beat! We didn’t want to leave! We stayed in this lovely, comfortable and very well stocked condo for a week and it was perfect from the moment we walked in the door! The views of the ocean and the sounds of the surf were unbeatable! The sunsets, the stars, the whales, the spinner dolphins and so many turtles all from the very private and spacious lanai were like a dream! We have been to Poipu 7-8 times and this was our first stay at Poipu Makai, we loved everything about the place! This home was lovely, the plunge pool was refreshing, the complex is quite and the location just can’t be beat! We didn’t want to leave! We had a fantastic experience with the property management team; they were friendly and helpful from booking to deposit refund! could not carry bags down. We called Vicki, the rep., who didn't even try to rebook it. I checked. All hotels and condos were booked, so she could have rented it. We found a hotel for a few nights, changing rooms each night & then flew home early! I've used Vrbo numerous times, but never again!

My husband and I spent three wonderful days in this beautifully renovated, well stocked, comfortable condo. The stunning view could be enjoyed anywhere in the common space or master bedroom as well as the spacious patio outside these 2 rooms. We loved listening to the sounds of the surf day and night, and enjoyed watching the whales and sea turtles every morning. Sunsets on the patio are fabulous. The 2nd bedroom (which we didn’t use) is actually larger than the master, has a small garden patio and is fairly private off a hallway that also houses the large washer and dryer as well as the guest bath. While most 2 bedroom condos everywhere tend to have a tunnel-like common space, this condo’s felt unusually wide and spacious. The complex itself looks dated from the street side, and the pool is very small but don’t let that discourage - this condo is modern, clean, and comfortable. Would love to come back.

This condo had everything you could ask for. It was on the lower level so you could step out right onto grass. The views of the water is amazing. We got to watch the beautiful sunset every night. The condo itself had everything you could ask for, including beach gear. You can walk the trails to shipwreck beach and Poipu beach. I use lots of towels and there where bath towels and beach towels available which made it so convenient. When I go back to Kauai I would for sure go back here.

This property delivered everything we were looking for! It is well-equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday and you cannot beat the view - we saw whales, dolphins and turtles right from the lanai. Perfect for 4 adults with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and in-house laundry. It’s within walking distance of Poipu beach and having the membership to Poipu Beach Club was an added bonus. The only problem we had was the screen door out to the lanai was very sticky and almost unusable. And one thing to note is there are quite a few stairs down to the condo so it is not well-suited for someone with mobility issues or really young children. I cannot wait to visit again! This condo was perfect for us.

This was a beautiful place to see the sun set from the lanai. What a treat. No need to book a restaurant to see the sunset - this is better with a bottle of your own wine. I love leaving the door open at night to hear the crashing of waves. Great location for beaches, restaurants and shopping. The only slight difficulty was finding the actual unit among all the others after figuring out where to park. It might be helpful to give more instructions on parking and finding the unit. I would stay here again.

Pros:
Neat, clean and fresh interior. Very comfortable and pleasant
Outstanding location for enjoying sunsets as well as whale and turtle watching.
Nice kitchen, and big fluffy beach towels.
Problems:
The fold out twin bed is unusable. The mattress is a small, creased, vinyl covered cot-like thing—definitely not the promised Tempurpedic. Do not plan on anyone over the age of 10 or over 4’ tall sleeping there.
Bedding. After we discovered that the fold out bed was unusable, we discovered that no extra bedding was available to help make the sofa more comfortable as an extra bed. When I called the 24 hour management service, I was told nothing could be done about it til morning—this message delivered without apology or courtesy. I quote: “How do you think I can get sheets to you tonight?” Also, on the queen bed there was a single size top sheet which of course didn’t cover the bed. When the sheets were delivered for the sofa, they left 2 fitted sheets with no top sheet, and one sheet was stained. The comforters supplied for all the beds had no covers.
We were short one beach towel.
The screen door sticks in a very annoying way. You have to reach down and push the bottom of the screen.
The ants in the kitchen are quick to appear even if you are very careful.
The remote didn’t work for the fan in the secondary bedroom.
The closets were stuffed with throw pillows.
Heads up for guests:
Don't be afraid to walk down to the water in spite of the scary warning sign. It’s a great place to watch the sunset and the turtles.
Buy salt and pepper when you stop at the grocery store.
Check everything when you arrive so that you can call early in the day for whatever is missing or not working properly.
Summary:
The location was so special, I would say it’s worth the other inconveniences as long as you don’t count on the sleeper chair for a bed; you check everything as soon as you get there so that you don’t get caught without the basics. Don’t expect a warm response if you call management after hours. Don’t expect much in the way of communication or service.

Since we had checked out, an additional departure charge would have to be paid in order to use the bag storage and showers. We thought this service was part of the amenities provided.The unit is close to Shipwreck Beach and Brenneke Beach. Nice walks.

Pros: Check in process was extremely easy and straightforward. The view from the condo was truly spectacular and in my opinion unmatched. Perfect for morning coffee and evening drinks on the patio. The location was great as well. We had a car but could have easily walked to Poipu beach from the condo.
Small items for improvement: When we arrived there was a very strong smell in the condo. After searching around we figured out that the prior renters had left whole cloves of garlic in the dishwasher. Not a huge deal but we had to run it a number of times to get the smell out. The knives definitely need to be sharpened as they are pretty dull and couldn’t cut through most things without a good amount of force. Also, some of the screens are ripped (which naturally happens over time of course) so there were probably more bugs than would be typical but really not a big deal at all.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would certainly rent the condo again. With some small amendments, the overall experience could be improved but we really had very few complaints.

We loved our stay on Kauai. The property was everything we needed and came exactly as advertised. Plenty of room for myself, my wife, and two teenage sons.
Was close to the beach and a very convenient drive to most other areas of Kauai.
Couldn't beat the ocean and subsets right from the lanai.

Just a fantastic property. Watched sea turtles from the deck and enjoyed the large and well stocked kitchen. Floors appear new and were gorgeous.
More traditional property so if you need central AC to feel comfortable you may sweat a little. But awesome island breeze and lots of fans. Wonderful stay.

From the first step into the unit and seeing that ocean view, we were hooked. Travelling with two young kids, the unit was perfectly equipped with a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms (1 with a tub) and plenty of fans to help circulate air around. The back bedroom can get warm but the fans help a lot. Beach gear is provided - boogie boards, waterproof bags, cooler, even noodles for the pool! Quiet hours were respected and never had an issue with parking onsite. Would definitely stay here again!

The place and location are great--in a quiet residential area on the Poipu shore within walking distance of Poipu and Shipwreck beaches. The beds are comfy and the place is nice, clean, and homey. It's not air conditioned, but there are fans and it was comfortable at night with the windows open. It's a little hard to find, but only took us a couple minute and check-in and check-out were easy. The one thing that rubbed us the wrong way was that a lawn chair was damaged when we arrived and we received a somewhat presumptuous message after our stay assuming that we had done it when we hadn't even touched it during our short stay.

Amazing beautiful view/location and nice condo. Beds were comfortable. Be prepared to restock supplies. Having no AC was noticeable at times but we stayed pretty comfortable in April-May. I would be a bit more nervous if I was staying in summer. Dealing with the property management was a nightmare and that’s the only reason I would choose not to return. We experienced multiple problems before and during our stay that were unacceptable. I do not recommend Vicki with Poipu 365 as a host.
