The location was just perfect, you may not find someplace closer than just steps to the sand and waves. The view and sound of the ocean at night was wonderful and relaxing. Sunsets are fabulous. First time to Maui and will be back to stay at Kihei Kai. Chip and Charlotte were very accommodating and great hosts.

Excellent property and a great location. It was almost as if we had our own private beach. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to the rest of the island.
The unit itself was perfect for us. Wonderful views from the balcony, living room and bed room. Very clean and updated. The kitchen is also very nice. Comfortable living room furniture as well as the bed.
Property owners are very quick with responses and communications.
Definitely would recommend staying at this property. In the future we would definitely return to this property.

Place was amazing. View was amazing. Walked on beach pretty much every day. Centrally located to everything. Place was clean and had everything you would need. Did not cook but everything was there if you wanted to. Place was quiet and we fell asleep listening to the waves. Due to an emergency at home, we had to leave a couple days early but I had already booked for next year. Can’t wait to return!

Okay- first, we loved this place and recommend it. That being said, when you arrive in the parking lot, don’t be put off by first impressions. Keep going and you will be rewarded with a lovely unit in a great location. Perhaps the best-stocked Vrbo for cooking/beach stuff/etc. if a pool is important to your group, please note that it is smallish and away from the beach. This is more than compensated by the best “personal beach” in Kihei!

I loved this condo. It’s only 10 steps from the sand and every room (including the bathroom) has incredible views. We slept with windows open and could hear the waves crashing all night. An extra fun part was seeing the canoe clubs up early in the morning paddling right by the condos. We were there during a wind storm and a ton of plant debris got into the pool but it was immediately cleaned out by condo staff. I was impressed at how prompt they were. Unfortunately, my family was staying here when the Maui fires were happening and we had to evacuate for one night. The owners made sure to communicate with us and still showed hospitality, even as their island was experiencing such a terrible tragedy. All in all, the place was great. It has everything you need (including a rice cooker and a reusable coffee filter for the drip pot).

What a great place to stay. The hosts were kind and accommodating and their property is top notch. We were looking for something on the beach, but couldn't afford resort or top tier hotels. This place fit the bill perfectly. You can heard the waves on the beach 24 hours/day. Just about everything you could think of was included in the apartment. All your kitchen needs with basic pantry staples; full sets of towels, including beach towels, beach umbrellas, chairs, and multiple sets of snorkeling gear; cooler bags; etc. Place is clean and filled with natural light throughout. Sugar beach is an awesome, walkable beach. Not "off the beaten path" but definitely out of the hustle and bustle. Still an easy 10 minutes drive into the busier parts of Kihei, maybe 20 to Lahaina, and wherever else you'd like to go. Some awesome shaved ice and a bake shop, and a fruit market, just a few minutes walk down the beach. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend!

This condo is right on Sugar Beach, which is a quiet and beautiful beach area. The condo has everything you need, plus beach items. Chip and Charlotte are wonderful hosts and always available for questions. We have stayed here three times and would come again. There is also a small pool to cool off in if you need a break from the ocean. Love this place!

Stayed for 8 nights. We loved the property, the view of the beach was amazing. Charlotte was great at communicating. The location was great being central on the island to be able to visit different areas. Close to restaurants and shopping. We loved that they provided beach stuff for us to use so we didn’t have to rent anything. The only thing we had a problem with was the beach gear was sandy from precious use but that didn’t stop us from using it and overall we had a great time and would stay here again! When walking down the walkway to our condo, we were ecstatic when we realized we would be staying in one of the two condos with a direct and close view of Sugar Beach. With only 20 feet of grass separating us from the beach, we were amazed and very happy. The interior of the condo did not disappoint either! We even had a direct view of the ocean from the shower window. The kitchen has everything we required in the way of appliances, dishes, silverware, soaps and pans. The bedroom was spacious with a lot of closet space.I feel we were extremely blessed with this unit.

The location is amazing, especially while traveling with a little one. The beach is steps away, so we hardly took anything to the beach with us. They provide beach chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear and sand toys (not sure that was in the listing). That was great. They did have a pack n play in the master closet (not noted in the listing), I brought my own because I didn’t think they did. Laundry was easy to do on-site, you download an app for it. The neighbors are so friendly and welcoming. We walked everyday to a local bake shop, about .2 miles away. They had parking onsite and an easy check in process with keyless entry. My only complaint was the ants but most people I talked to had them. We bought plastic bags at the store to put most of our opened items in and I had To put hand washed baby bottles on the center island while they dried.
We definitely miss waking up to the ocean view straight from our bedroom and We would definitely stay here again!

My recent stay at Chip & Charlotte's place on Sugar Beach was magical as always. My friends and I have been renting their place for years now. We always stay there because it's literally RIGHT ON THE BEACH. There are 180 degree views of the ocean from every window and the lanai. And during February you can barely look outside without seeing whales playing in the surf. The unit is clean and well appointed with everything you need for a great stay. Communicating with Chip & Charlotte is always a breeze - they get back right away and are always willing to help. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

The beach front, second story location of this property affords wonderful sunrise and sunset views. We loved spending everyday on the calm, quiet beach just outside. The space is clean and comfortable with everything you need, minus a boogie board. The only drawback is most dining is driving distance. We would 100% stay again.

This was a 10 year anniversary trip and we enjoyed everything about it. The proximity to the beach is unmatched…no need to even pack a cooler because it’s 50 steps back to the fridge! We used the snorkel gear and beach chairs every single day. The neighbors were courteous and quiet and we enjoyed walking to get açaí bowls at the farmers market and shaved ice too. You’ll likely drive south a couple miles for most food and drink, but it’s still very conveniently placed to getting to the NW coast for snorkeling, going up Mt. Haleakala, or to Paia for the road to Hana. Not a single complaint about the communication, host, or place. We will probably return with our kids, and that would be the only reason we wouldn’t stay in this unit!

Great sunsets, right on sandy beach. Walking distance to a little market and shaved ice. It’s not a huge place which we liked better. The lights shut out on patio at midnight so don’t fret. It was pretty bright lights in our window, only complaint but we got used to it. Definitely stay here again.

For people with mobility issues, this might be a challenge since there is a long flight of stairs that must be climbed to access the condo.

This is a real gem in Kihei! We loved everything about this condo. It's the perfect size for couples without children, and it's centrally located on the island, right near the major highway junctions such that almost every destination is within reasonable driving distance. The dual La-Z-Boy recliners were a welcome retreat after a long day of hiking and snorkeling. Loved that the TV was a smart TV that had all the streaming service apps. Internet service was strong and easy to connect to. The dining table faced the ocean so there was always a breathtaking view while we ate. And the views from the bedroom were just as majestic. The bathroom and kitchen are both updated and modern, with new appliances. And the best part...it's literally steps away from Sugar Beach, which has smooth sand and very few tourists. Plenty of beach chairs are available downstairs, which you can set up on the small patch of grass between the sand and the condo. Overall an amazing place, and one we hope to visit again in the future!

First, you can't go wrong with Maui. Everything is beautiful and the beach is never far away. Somehow this little apartment made Maui even better. The place is literally on the water and you can hear the waves crashing as you sleep. It's centrally located so you can get anywhere on the island quickly. We'll definitely be back!

We loved staying at this condo for 11 days for our honeymoon! The ocean views from the deck are incredible, and we loved taking in the view while having meals out there. The condo was nice and clean and well stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals as well as lounge on the beach. The BBQs were right where the stairs to the unit are, which was very convenient. The hosts, Chip and Charlotte, made sure that we had everything that we would need and were very responsive whenever we had any questions. We had an amazing stay at Kihei Kai 9. Our toddler called it “The Lighthouse” and I suppose that makes sense because it’s upstairs right on the beach! Every window has an amazing view. This condo is beautiful inside and well-equipped. However, my husband and I just stayed here on our honeymoon and were disappointed. The overall condo building is shabby and in a bit of disrepair. The pictures make it look like you are right on the beach, which technically you are but below you is a lawn/cement area where other condo renters hang out all day. It was our honeymoon and we were expecting the sound of waves crashing and peaceful silence but instead got cigarette smoke and the sound of trashy people arguing below us. This is no fault of the owners but we just wish we had the full picture before we booked because it was definitely not the paradise we had envisioned. I think the key is that your experience is dependent on the other renters in the units around you. Maybe some weeks it's quiet and peaceful but we sure didn't get that experience!

It was a very pleasant experience. This property is located right on the beach, it was amazing to wake up to a beautiful view of the water and the sound of the ocean. The condo had everything we could need during our trip and then some. Location was also a huge convience. Chip and Charlotte are lovely folk who exceeded expectations of being a great host. If you prefer to stay at a less crowded and low-key spot with all the advantages you could need, I highly recommend this spot. 10/10.

We absolutely adored this magical condo on the beach. Chip and Charlotte are very responsive hosts and the condo is excellently equipped and squeaky clean. We loved the luxurious fluffy bath towels as well. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle this is the perfect place for you. The views from every room were beautiful, even from the shower window! We took very long walks on the beach and enjoyed walking to check on the turtles at the fishing pond every morning, which is a 3 mile round trip walk. The goods at the farmers market are awesome! It is just a short walk from the condo. We frequented the ABC store next to the farmers market for their deli section and souvenirs. We would love to visit Maui again in the future and when we do, we'll want to stay in Chip and Charlotte's place again. Aloha!

If you are wanting to stay in Kihei - THIS is the specific place you want to stay!!! It is directly ON the beach. The rest of the unit is great too...but this unit is on the end - facing the ocean, and on the second floor. The windows in the bedroom face the ocean on two sides and you sleep to the sounds of the waves. Paradise. You wake up to the row team each morning and can drink coffee on the deck. We had absolutely no complaints.
The air conditioner had an issue the first night and the host responded within minutes and had it fixed by the end of the day. Super polite and responsive.

This Condo was so peaceful. We had a wonderful stay here. It had everything we needed. Beach Chairs, Cooler, snorkle gear. This was are first time staying in Kihei. We usually stay in the Kahana area but, wanted to try Kihie and this place and area did not disappoint. The beach is great to do long walks, swim and boogie board or snorkel. What this condo lacks in size is more than forgiven by the location. The ocean is literally everywhere and it was very peaceful to leave the window open and hear the waves every night. The location is great for relaxing and having a day on the beach. If your looking for the best snorkeling, you'll want to drive about 40 minutes North to Lahaina. Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed our visit here.

My husband and I think this Kihei Kai condo has it all -- great location right on Sugar Beach, incredible vistas in all directions from its large corner lanai, and everything you could want in terms of a very well-furnished kitchen, not to mention all of the beach towels and gear that you'll need for enjoying the beautiful south shore beaches! My two adult daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. The condo complex is homey and friendly, and the landscaping is kept up well. Our condo was the best location in the entire place - the second/top floor at the end of the building looking directly onto a quiet, calm part of the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked as well as the rest of the condo. The pull-out bed was comfortable enough for two. The living room furniture is rather bulky for the space, but it was comfortable. I would have preferred non-carpeted flooring, but it seemed clean enough especially since everything else was quite clean. I appreciated the very clean windows and screens to enjoy the beautiful views and let in the lovely breeze.

The pictures do not do justice to the view from the condo. It was absolutely beautiful and such a treat to enjoy coffee in the morning watching the sun come up and the canoe club training. And ending the day with a cocktail watching the sun set. We ate in the condo most evenings and the kitchen is well stocked for all kinds of meals. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. While we there the storm hit and made things difficult to get around etc. Chip was on board with our phone calls and was easy to communicate with. If you get the chance to visit this condo, do.

We stayed for four nights during our honeymoon and we’re so glad that we booked early to snag this great place!
Communication with the owners was so easy and we were even able to get in early to drop our bags. The condo was spacious and comfy with a lovely deck overlooking the ocean. The location was great only 15 minutes from Kahului airport and central to the rest of the island. There were a few places to walk to (ABC convenience store, bakery, a bar, and my personal favorite Ululani’s Shave Ice). The condo was stocked with everything you’d need for a beach vacation including chairs and beach towels. The other tenants were all very kind and helped us scope out the coin laundry. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend!

You won’t regret staying here! Second floor of a two story, small, boutiquey condo, best unit on this property. Small lawn and patio, with lawn chairs etc. at bottom of stairs and in front of that— a lovely sandy beach with gentle lapping waves. Walk right into water. Snorkel (provided) about 100-200’ down the beach, where you can find turtles and lovely fish around the coral. Unit is clean, whisper-quiet a/c if you need it, otherwise fall asleep to the waves with gentle ceiling fan. Bedroom has two large window units facing front and side of ocean, with a most comfy king size bed. Bathroom has nice walk-in shower with new tile and rain shower ceiling head. Kitchen has nice appliances and all the basic equipment you could want (you’re on vacation!). Lots and lots of good restaurants very close. Watch early morning canoe crews racing at dawn! Everything you could want is right here.

If you are lucky enough to find this property available, snag it. Hubby and I spent 4 nights here at the beginning of our Maui trip. It was perfect for us. The location and views can't be beat. Cocktails with a spectacular sunset on the beach became an event to wind down from each day of adventure. Walking to the farmers market for breakfast acai bowls was also a treat. The condo had everything we needed for beach days and meals we made. This unit is the best in the complex, hands down. The snorkeling directly off the beach is hit or miss...we did see some turtles, but there are better spots close by if that is your thing. We would absolutely stay here again.

Charlotte and Chip's condominium is clean and comfortable and in a perfect location on Sugar Beach in Kihei, Maui. Listening to the waves and enjoying the beautiful view of the beach and ocean from the lanai, main room and bedroom make this location perfect. You are steps to the beach and there is a nice grassy area down the stairs from the condo to sit under one of the umbrella's or have a meal at the table. Plenty of lounge chairs to use on the grass. They are also quick with responses. We have stayed twice and look forward to coming again.

Overall, this condo was absolutely perfect! My husband and I stayed here for 12 days while we were in Maui for our honeymoon/first anniversary trip. The views from the condo was absolutely gorgeous. Every room you are in has ocean views and that is hard to find! Being able to fall asleep and wake up to the ocean sounds was so awesome. All the pictures that show the condo are accurate and it is as beautiful as the pictures show. We frequently walked to the farmers market, abc store, bake shop, and shaved ice place in Kihei. It was so convenient to have these stores as nearby as they were. The condo has literally everything you need for the beach (chairs/umbrella/boogie board) and snorkel gear as well. Being able to walk outside the front door a few steps and be able to swim at the beach was so awesome. There is nothing negative to say about this condo whatsoever! This condo was worth every penny we spent and next time we come to Maui we will definitely be staying here. :) It was my husband and I's favorite vacation we have taken thus far.

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The condo was just as advertised. We could see and hear the beach from every room in the house. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was amazing. The grassy area in front of the condo was perfect for lounging. The water was perfect for SUP boarding every morning. My wife and I spent a week here. It was perfect and as advertised. We couldn’t think of a better way to spend a week resting and relaxing than to sit on the lawn in front of the ocean while reading books. Chip and Charlotte were very responsive and always helpful. Thank you for a great vacation.

What a beautiful slice of heaven on Maui! The condo was perfect for the two of us and filled with everything you could imagine needing for a beach vacation. The location is central to everything and the endless views and swimable beach made the week extra special. Very comfy king size bed and the small kitchen was stocked with every thing one needs. We loved the friendly ‘complex cars’ who greeted us every day. Thank you Chip and Charlotte.

I came to Maui to visit my daughter who lives in Makawao. I wanted a laid back place (no high rise) on the beach and this fit the bill perfectly!! Literallly down some steps and the sand is in your toes. We watched the amazing sunset each night and slept to the sounds of the waves coming ashore.
The condo was well equipped with a stocked kitchen so eating in was no problem. It was clean and the perfect size. The shower was especailly great.
Kihei is an easy and short drive from the airport which is very convenient. It is also centrally located so getting to other parts of the island is very easy and usually only about a 30 min. drive or less.
Chip and Charlotte were very accommodating and responded in a timely manner to any questions I had. I look forward to definitely returning!!

The views from this corner unit is spectacular! Moreover, Chip and Charlotte were kind and flexible -- we had a funky schedule with both check-in and check-out, and they were super understanding and helped us out tremendously. When we come back to Maui we'd love to be here again -- that's the best praise I think I can deliver!
