REALLY SPENT MOST OF OUR DAYS OUTSIDE ON THE GAZEBO..BBQ*NG AND EATING OUTDOORS.(WE RECOMMEND GETTING YOUR FRESH FISH AT THE DOLPHIN FISH MARKET IN HANALEI.)..JACUZZI AND OUTDOOR SHOWER AMONG THE HIGHLIGHTS. OUR QUICK DRIVE TO THE BEACH WAS SO EASY AND THE BEACH CHAIRS AND COOLER MADE IT PERFECT.. MANDY OUR CONTACT PERSON WAS GREAT..ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR US..EVEN THOUGH WE DIDNT SEEM TO NEED A THING. Property was great. Had a lot of space for our family to spread out and escape when needed. Separately, all the things you forget when traveling this place had, access to boogie boards, sand toys, detergent for laundry, rain ponchos in case you experience a light shower. I could go on, but I’ll spare you.
Our family was a group of 7 that hsd a variety of needs being we ranged in ages from 6 to 62. It met everyone’s need/expectations.
North Kauai is more remote, more natural and less commercialized. Our preferred way to experience where we travel.

This property was even better than its listing pictures and description. The views are unparallel, breathtaking, and the location is peaceful and very private. Beds were comfy, property immaculate and loaded with every possible dish, appliance and beach gear. Markets for food and restaurants are within 5 to 15 minutes. We enjoy the North Shore the most, and this location was perfect...within minutes of Princeville. Kapaa is a 15 minue drive and the airport is 40 minutes. We've stayed on the island many times and we will try to get this property on our return trips. Checkin out and communications with the host were incredibly easy and friendly. Can't wait to return. Maholo to our hosts!

The outdoor grounds with hot tub perched on the hill, lanai with fire pit and chairs, and dining table with barbecue – each with unforgettable views of the pali and coastline below. Nice indoor spaces and kitchen with large table for family gatherings. All the rooms are comfortable. An array of beach chairs, dive gear, and beach toys for children. A spectacular pleasant Hawaiian home hidden behind a humble front. Thank you for letting us visit.

We had a wonderful stay at Sunset View Hale. Teri was thorough and prompt in providing information on house rules, check-in, and check-out times. She also went out of her way to suggest activities that she thought we’d enjoy. Mandy was extremely helpful, even helping us out with a grill concern on New Year’s Day. Overall, an excellent experience, and highly recommended.

The home was absolutely perfect for our family which includes our 3 adult children, son in law, daughter in law (engaged on the trip!) and granddaughter. We have been visiting the north shore of Kauai for over 40 years, renting numerous homes over the years and this home is now our favorite. The pictures on the website are beautiful, but honestly don’t do it justice. In person, the views are just magnificent. The backyard is amazing. The house had every little detail you can imagine. The on island assistant Mandy is the best. I had several questions for her during the week and she was very responsive and super helpful. A pleasure to work with. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we hope to return again next year!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The view was amazing, the house was clean and comfortable. If you’re like us, you probably picked this place for the view and it doesn’t disappoint. We also loved the part of the island where the house was located. The house was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but you do still have neighbors (including a goat!). The small beach you can see from the property is very close and easy to get to. Very calm and quiet beach. The beds were comfy, the towels were fluffy, the coffee grinder worked. Would recommend and would stay here again.

There is every reason to love this property! We’ve stayed in quite a few beautiful VRBO homes, and this ranks among the best. The scenery alone is worth the price of admission! The home, while not fancy (which we prefer for a casual, relaxed vacation), is very comfortable, wonderfully equipped and conveniently located to beaches for swimming and snorkeling. We had 3 generations of family here, and it worked out perfectly. The hosts have thought of everything. And, oh, that view!

My wife and I, along with our two adult sons, truly enjoyed our stay at the Sunset View home. This was a trip to celebrate our 40th anniversary. It was very roomy, and there was always a spot to get away by yourself for a while to read or just unwind. The views from this home are nothing short of spectacular. The back yard is large enough for young kids to run around on. Mandy is the manager, and she made sure any issues that came up were taken care of quickly and professionally. We thought that a pair of binoculars would be nice to use to over look the beach, cove and ocean. She provided a brand new pair, and I suspect they will be available for all future guests to enjoy. One son went on a successful pig hunt and brought part of the meat back to the house. He used the BBQ and Smoker to cook up a very nice dinner. We used the high quality hot tub several times while the sun set, very relaxing after a day of activities. Plenty of beach and shower towels. On our last morning there, we ate breakfast on the lanai, enjoying the view. All the sudden we noticed a large pod of dolphins, and spinner dolphins, putting on a show in the bay below us. We grabbed the binoculars and watched for about 45 minutes. It was like they came in to say good bye. I wish we could have stayed longer, but there is always a next time.

We have stayed at some special places over the years, but The Sunset House is exceptional. As soon as we arrived, we were surrounded by natural beauty that was beyond belief. Even after a week’s visit, the stupendous views remained spellbinding. The house itself is thoughtfully designed, filled with light, and spacious with different spaces to spread out and also hang out together. Everything about the stay felt very comfortable – the beds, sofas, and showers are all top-notch. The house is equipped with many thoughtful amenities such as all the beach and snorkeling gear. The kitchen is well-stocked and has everything you need for cooking. The outdoor spaces were comfortably furnished where you can soak up the incredible views from different vantage points. The gazebo was our favorite spot where we felt we had the front-row seats to Mother Nature’s show. Each sunset was magical with unimaginable colors accompanied by mesmerizing sounds of the ocean.
Mandy, the property manager, was always available, quick to respond, and very helpful. We were very grateful to experience the Sunset House. Thank you for an unforgettable trip, we hope to be back soon!

Relaxed beachy vibe. Perfect for 6 adults and 2 small kids. Gorgeous views. Beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Lots of yard for kids to run and play. Loved the river to the beach. We spent lots of time in the gazebo, and had a few fires in the fire pit as s’mores were requested. Mandy, the on island contact was always available to answer questions. Couldn’t not have had a better experience. Mahalo.

There are no words to adequately describe this property other than to say it is perfection! The views, the décor, the location, the outdoor shower (!!!!). There were eight people staying on the property and there was room enough that we were never crowded unless we wanted to be. I cannot wait to book this home again.

We spent a week at the Kilauea Sunset House and enjoyed every minute. The layout of the house was perfect for our two families with two different wings for the bedrooms. The house was fully stocked with everything we might need including spices which was nice as most rentals do not include the basics. Prior to our arrival, the owners provided a detailed list of where to shop for food, restaurant recommendations and sights to see. We loved the amazing view of Kalihiwai beach and bay and enjoyed watching the dolphins feed one morning and witnessed a spectacular rainbow one day. The property manager was welcoming upon our arrival and quickly resolved a hot water issue we had with the kitchen sink. We would highly recommend a stay here and we hope for a return visit in the near future.

Everything about this property is amazing!! The backyard is so much bigger than it looks in the pictures and it’s breathtaking. So much space to space out or to gather. The host was accommodating and attentive, and the kitchen was well stocked with necessities. The beds were comfortable and so were the several sitting areas inside and outside of the house.

The view is amazing. Coffee on the porch every morning, and getting takeout to eat dinner on the deck for sunset. The house is the perfect size for a group. Communication was stellar, the kitchen had every tool you could want, and the beds were comfortable. The beach down the road was gorgeous and uncrowded. Kilauea has good restaurants, a market, and a cool wildlife preserve. Hanalei is just 15 minutes away, the airport about 40, depending on construction. Seriously such a great place!

My family of eight and I have been to Kauai many times (I think 7?), loved every vacation home we’ve rented, and we ALL agreed this is the most fabulous house we’ve ever stayed in on the north shore. To get a sense of the ocean and mountain views from the hilltop upon which the house sits, look at the photos and then explode them in your mind’s eye. We couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the setting is. Add to that the house is beautifully furnished and lavishly stocked with everything we needed and more (boogie boards, snorkeling gear, etc.) for our stay. The kitchen is dreamy, and the various lounging areas around the property—the living room, the front entry “lounge,” the gazebo, the wrap-around lanai with it’s sumptuous chairs and ottomans—are insanely comfortable. Great communication with the hosts, and Mandy, the manager, was lovely to work with. Thank you to everyone who helped made our stay so wonderful! We will be back.

We have travelled quite extensively & would rank staying in this home as one of the most memorable experiences EVER!! The gorgeous views are what sold me. Being able to sit outside and take it all in - watching the surfers & whales was SO soothing and relaxing. It was perfect!! We very much enjoyed the hot tub in the evening & had a few lovely clear nights to enjoy the moon & stars. The house was very well equipped & quite lovely. The beds quite comfy. Liked how the bedrooms were situated as well (two were together, close to the kitchen & the other two were on the other side of the house). Made for a little extra privacy. The only small glitch was the construction next door, which periodically would cut into our peace & tranquility. Now luckily it didn't disturb us all that much but to give an honest review, I feel it should be mentioned. However, even if the construction was still there, I would NOT hesitate to stay here again!!! In fact, I REALLY hope in a few years that we come back again. We have been to Oahu, the Big Island and Maui. But would say that Kauai is hands down my favourite. And staying at this property on the north side of the island was a stellar decision.

My friends and family stayed for 2 weeks and wish we had stayed longer. The facilities were excellent and the views were truly amazing. The house was well supplied and the property manager was responsive and helpful. We had a wonderful time and hope to return soon.

We had a nice stay. The beds are very comfortable, the living space is spacious, the kitchen is roomy and has most of what we wanted. The views were fantastic and we could hear the ocean, and enjoyed watching surfers most days. The nearby beaches are lovely, and if you want a less congested area - you will be pleased.
We had ants in the kitchen, didn’t call the manager because there were ant traps throughout the house and ant spray in the kitchen. House would benefit from regular pest control.
One of the sliding doors does not lock. The manager knew and simply said it takes awhile to get parts??? Okay, but the listing says they care about our safety - that was more bothersome to us than Covid. We literally had no security for our persons or possessions. Construction workers are two lots away - all day - watching us come and go. The house would benefit (during the winter months especially) from more exterior lighting. We grilled two nights by flashlight. . . At least half of the lights on the gazebo were burnt out. We offered to replace them if management would provide them and she responded that she would have the handyman remove them. How would that help us?
There are NO ENSUITE bathrooms - listing doesn’t say there are or aren’t. One bathroom is out the back door, off the deck and not at all convenient. Really a 2 bath home.
For these reasons and more - it is a 3+/4- rating NOT exceptional.

We had an amazing time at this house with our family. The beach was are favorite beach to go to. Not to crowded and just stunning. We loved our evenings by the fire pit watching the sun set and them star gazing. This house is truly special in many ways. The outside shower was our family’s high light, everyone lined up to go into it. The WiFi is very slow but everyone says with the weather and location it comes and goes. This house had everything you would need to enjoy a big family vacation in every way.

We loved our week at this beautiful home. Super comfortable! Stunning views! We could even see ‘Bali Hai’ in the distance. Quiet except for a few roosters which added to the charm. Convenient wonderful beach with rope swings on the river! We loved the gazebo at sunset! It was the perfect layout fir two families with 2 bedrooms clustered with one bath. 2 laundry rooms helped a lot too. Tons of beach towels, toys and all the fixin’s. Thanks so much for a very memorable family vacation!

This property was absolutely perfect. The views were truly amazing. The house is not only beautiful and spacious, it’s very comfortable. Our party consisted of two couples, each with a young adult child. There were plenty of places on the property and in the house itself to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, cook ware, etc. The outside spaces were very comfortably furnished and the landscape was beautifully maintained.
The location was perfect for us because we wanted something somewhat near restaurants and activities but not in a crowded resort type setting. We had activities planned for the north, south and east shore areas and this property worked well for us.
The owners were amazing and provided a wealth of information about the area with very helpful recommendations. They stayed in touch with us prior to our arrival and the check in process and assistance while we were there was second to none. We would definitely return to this property the next time we visit Kauai.

Very well laid out property. View is worth a million dollars. House just works. It has everything that you would want as far as supplies. Stayed at many home rentals this ranks as one of the tops. They supplied a log for the fire pit. Had tongs and a spatula for the barbecue. Many lighters to lite the pit or the bbq. Lights at the qazebo. WiFi booster to reach the gazebo. Coffee as well as Splenda and sugar. Washer and dryer that works well and detergent. Plenty of trash bags and zip locks to pack snacks. Skewers for kabobing. The only minor issue is WiFi speed reliability. However this is a Kauai problem and not an issue with home.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt like we were staying in heaven. The views, sounds, and amenities were wonderful. Though we had a problem with hot water one afternoon, we called the manager and it was resolved quickly.
The hot tub is an excellent place to watch the sun set and relax with the sounds of the ocean. The provided chairs, umbrellas, and other gear came in handy when using the quiet beach nearby.

The owners were a gem to work with. Property was too secluded for our taste and a couple hiccups with the house; utensil drawer broken, dripping bathroom facet, informed property manager and was told repair man would come around but did not. Online profile stated community pool but none present, disappointing for kids. The views were out of this world, definitely more of a couples location.

After spending the past year stalking the Sunset House webcam, we were just ecstatic to finally arrive, and the pictures don't do it justice - we were speechless. The view is just amazing and every free moment was spent on the lanai taking it in. The lush landscape was absolutely beautiful and we spent many evenings in the hot tub in awe of our surroundings.
The house is very spacious and clean, yet warm and quaint. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking essentials and all appliances were modern, well maintained and fully operational. The two sets of washers/dryers came in handy with our group of seven adults. All bathrooms were spotless and stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash...including the outdoor shower - which was really amazing. The beds were comfortable and fully functioning AC throughout the house was a welcome break to escape the humidity.
Kalihiwai Bay (seen from the backyard) is literally two minutes from the house and we enjoyed that virtually secluded beach the most, of all Kauai beaches we visited.
Mandy, the property manager, was welcoming, informative and extremely responsive to all of our questions throughout our stay. She does a wonderful job and made us feel right at home.
Many wonderful family memories were created at the Sunset House and I feel like we scored the best of everything staying here. We can't wait to return!

The rating on this property when we booked it back in October was 5 stars. After spending 9 days here in July, I understand why. The property is magnificent. The VIEW. We couldn’t get enough. It never got old. The sunsets. No wonder it’s called the Sunset House! The location, amenities in the house, cleanliness, Terri’s and Mandy’s knowledge and responsiveness, I can go on and on. Everything is so well thought out. It’s very rare when a property is as good as the pictures. In this case, this property is even better than the pictures. And the outdoor shower!!! Are you joking??? They never mentioned that you could literally watch the sunset while showering. Amazing. My family had such a memorable time here that we will never forget. When we come back to Kauai, this will be where we stay.

We stayed in the property July 2019. This is a beautiful home. We have a family of 5, and were able to spread out and had plenty of room. The best feature of the property is the beautiful lanai overlooking the beach/ocean. The sunsets are spectacular. The property owners were great to work with and we felt very welcomed. Mandy, the caretaker, was very quick to respond to any questions or issues that we had. The beach is a 5 minute drive and was very nice and never busy. It's difficult to find a north shore property with air conditioning, so we were lucky to find this one. It was definitely warm in July with temperatures in the upper 80's some days, and would have been somewhat unpleasant without the air. Overall we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again.

Our trip to Hawaii was in lieu of a sweet 16 for my daughter and it was the best decision we ever made! I never saw my daughter so happy! The island of Kauai is magical and the house was perfect! The pictures that are on line do NOT do it justice! The view from the house is spectacular! We woke up each morning to dolphins swimming and jumping in the bay below us. Our favorite spot was sitting late Day and early morning in the gazebo at the end of the property. We also had late night fires there which was so fun! The house was big inside with lots of room for the 8 people that stayed in the house. My parents also stayed in a house near by and there was plenty of room for them when they were at the house. They were very sad and sorry that they chose not to stay in the house with us. Ha ha. The house was super clean and close to all of the main attractions. Mandy, the house manager, was amazing! She came to the house on our first day there and gave us the low down on the house. She gave us so much information and was so helpful! In fact she answered many text messages with any questions we had. She told me she would send me links to hikes we could go on and I got them 5 minutes later. She was so great! I would definitely recommend to all to rent this house. It was an amazing week!

The view from this property has to be one of the best on the island. The first night, we sat at the gazebo and watched the ocean as whales passed by. What a way to start our vacation! We really appreciated the numerous sitting areas, both inside and out. Our group of 8 adults never felt crowded, even after 10 days together. Everything was very clean and comfortable.
Everyone loved the outdoor shower and hot tub. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. We had a great time cooking meals together almost every day. We found the beach that is visible from the house to be the nicest one we tried. Mandy was so helpful and responsive to our requests. She is a gem. We will definitely be back to this lovely home.

My husband and our families stayed here for a week and could not have asked for a better location for our intimate wedding! We loved the plantation style house and loved the lanai and yard even more. Everything was very well-maintained and the kitchen was the best stocked kitchen ever - complete with glass locking containers to bring fresh cut pineapple to the beach. The house also had plenty of beach and bath towels and beach chairs, umbrellas, and toys. Kilauea is a great place from which to explore the north shore with plenty of beaches nearby. I wish we could have stayed longer.

The house was fantastic. The view was breathtaking. Everything about the house was as represented. The kitchen was well equipped and the perfect place to cook and enjoy the incredible view. We had two young children, 3 and 5, and they loved the large backyard and hot tub. Cocktails at the gazebo was a daily ritual. We spent hours watching the surfers right below the house. Access to the beach right below us was a quick drive, with Anini Beach and Hanalei Bay Beach 10 to 15 minutes away. There is a great kid's park at the bottom of the hill for kids to play. The house was exceptionally clean and Mandy was very helpful.

If you are searching for a little bit of heaven this is your place. Views were beyond amazing. Everything in the house was set up up for comfort from the amazing beds to the great hot tub. A great place to reconnect with our adult children. Be patient with the traffic when traveling to other parts of the island and allow extra time if you have a scheduled activity. Hope to return in two years to make more memories.🌴🌴
