We absolutely loved staying on this 23 acre property with two houses. The walk down to the secret beach through the fruit trees was spectacular! House was furnished with the basics. Property manager was easy to communicate with and allowed us to have a late check out to accommodate our later flight. Hot tub and the secret beach were wonderful. Loved everything about it!!!

My husband and I were debating on a resort or a home for this trip and we are so happy we chose this spot. The houses are great but we really loved the property. Super private and beautiful! Loved hiking through the lush jungle like yard to get to the beautiful and very private beach. Houses had everything we needed. If you are counting on bikes to ride in the description take that off the list cause they were not rideable but besides that everything was perfect.

I don’t want to say too much. I want to keep this to myself it’s so special. It’s not on the beach but it has a spectacular beach and the property is magical. Not for people who don’t want to walk through a jungle. And Jimmy was good at communicating. The listing says bikes, don’t they have any in working order. That’s my only critique. Mahalo Kauai and Jimmy’s team.

Spectacular views, comfortable high quality furnishings, private access and all the toys you need for the beach, plus all the privacy, peace and quiet you could want amidst a tropical botanical garden. Our second time here, even better than before. Pure paradise.

This is the most spectacular property -- stunning home, beautiful landscape to explore, and unparalleled access to Secret Beach. A truly unforgettable experience getting to stay here. Couldn't recommend it more highly!

I can’t even express how amazingly perfect this property is. My husband, daughter and I stayed in the main house, while my son and daughter in law stayed in the cottage. There was more than enough room for all of us. The views are ridiculously amazing. Both houses were fully equipped with everything we needed. They’ve thought of everything! Jimmy was quick to respond to every question. The property is stunning. Highly recommend!!

Our Family travelled from Los Angeles California and Canberra Australia to stay at this beautiful property. The main house and the cottage were a perfect fit for us, they were both nicely equipped. The beach is beautiful, and we really enjoyed walking and hiking the trail. Located near Kilauea town & lighthouse, it was near some good shopping and a nice small market, it it’s not far from Princeville where a large market is, and also not too a far drive from Hanilei which has shops and a great scenic beach. Take a cruise up the coast to see the beauty of the Napoli coast, it’s amazing! We would definitely recommend the Jungle Bee, it’s an amazing large private property.
Jimmy the Caretaker was really helpful with everything.

Beautifully kept property. Gorgeous ocean views. Spectacular waterfall on the path down to Secret Beach. Both the main home and guest house were well appointed. Our entire family had a very relaxing vacation. The property host was very friendly and always available for our needs and questions.

Brought our family together ( 2 adult children, 2 spouses, 2 teenage granddaughters 13,16)
Just wanted time as a full family we live coast to coast.
The property was fantastic loads of room to roam. Some rarely left the beach and jungle others traveled the island. Something for all. Our only wish was dinner together and that was easily managed with a large kitchen and full seating for 8. Plus so many options of where we could have it.
The estate was so clean and wonderfully manicured. Just needed the food and our swimsuits. Rest was there.

The property was even more amazing than the pictures. Very comfortable, all the right amenities, perfect privacy (except for the chickens!) and jaw dropping views. The walk to the beach is a floral and fruit adventure, and the beach, surf and views were spectacular. We will be back and will stay longer.

What an incredible property! We could not have found a more perfect destination for our family vacation. The main house was well appointed and a perfect fit for a portion of our family. My wife and I and our two young kids stayed in the cottage and felt like we had our own little slice of heaven! The view is spectacular and there is no better place to relax than on the cottage front deck or patio.
The property manager Jimmy was fantastic and made us feel right at home and was responsive to any questions or needs we may have had during our stay. Thank you Jimmy!
The property is stunning with a wide variety of citrus, avocado, cacao and other fruit trees at every turn. The walk to the beach is magical in its own right as you traverse the tropical jungle, cross over meandering streams and go through the Cacao tree groves. It’s a 10 minute walk and worth every minute so take your time and enjoy the hike. Secret Beach is just wonderful and with the private access to this sparsely populated beach we almost felt as if we had our own private beach. The surf is high in the winter months but the kids loved frolicking in the waters edge and we spent many hours soaking up the sun and the beauty of this beach!
Our family ranged from ages 9 to 75 and I can say with certainty that this was a trip of a lifetime for all of us. I can’t say enough good things about our experience at the Jungle Bee House and Cottage! We can’t wait to visit again someday…hopefully sooner than later.

A beautiful secluded property with two dwellings that comfortably fit our whole multi-generational family for an unforgettable Christmas holiday. The kitchen was stocked well enough to allow lots of cooking and baking for the holidays, and we were just a few minutes drive from a lovely little town and market. All the comforts of shops and restaurants nearby, while we felt complete privacy amongst the trees overlooking the ocean.

This property is one of a kind. It’s on the north side of the island, so it gets a lot of rain. This makes the bottom of the property a tropical jungle which has been cultivated into a fully functional cacao farm accompanied with other fruits. The property comes also equipped with its own flock of chickens and a herd of pigs. The chickens are up at dawn the the pigs are out at night. We got snorted at a couple of times at night walking between the houses.
It really is a magical place and I will definitely be back.

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at this property again. We are already looking at booking our next trip. We love the privacy this property provides and the unique decor. There are trees on property which we enjoyed picking fruit from and there’s also a private valley that you can hike through to get to secret Beach. I won’t talk too much more about this property lest I not be able to get a date for our next trip :) Also, Jimmy is incredibly responsive and an overall lovely person. Thanks again Jimmy!

This was our 3rd visit to Jungle Bee. We have busy lives and Jungle Bee is a place to unwind & simply experience the extreme beauty that is all around. We managed to leave the property a few nights to take advantage of the great restaurants but mostly we wanted to stay put! The walk to the beach is a joyful adventure each time. You never know what wildlife you are going to see. And Jimmy the property manager will take care of your every need! Love Jungle Bee!

The two homes were beautiful and clean. Great ocean and tropical landscape views from both houses. About 10-15 walk to the beach on a nice trail. Lots of nice restaurants near by. We will definitely return!

Fun place to stay. The grounds are the star. In the main house, beautiful views of the landscaped back yard from the deck with both the mountains and ocean as the backdrop, and with bird activity to enjoy all day. In the studio, beautiful views over the stream valley. The “trail” was an extension of the yard. First part was a trail down to the stream. This is the one part that would be a challenge to people with mobility issues, with a narrow path on somewhat uneven ground and somewhat steep. Probably to be avoided if falls are a concern. Second part was really a landscaped yard along one side of the stream that extended down to a great little waterfall. This part has the couple of groves of cacao trees that I guess make it a “farm”. Looks like maybe this was designed as a spiritual refuge (complete with buddha type statues) in a previous incarnation of the property. Feel like royalty having this remote, private garden for strolls. Final segment to the beach is an old concrete road, a couple of small but steep hills on it but otherwise easy footing. No traffic on this road…not sure why it is there. Fun to look for different fruit trees throughout yard and trail. We found papaya, fig, mountain apple, avocado, orange, mango, grapefruit, soursop, and noni. Not all were ripe and often the numerous wild chickens (who did crow consistently and loudly at daybreak at 5 am and throughout day) got the fruit first. Houses were in good shape, well equipped, and comfortable. A bit different than other rentals because they don’t really provide “anticipated” info (like a guest manual or advance communication) but the property manager was very responsive to phone calls (messaging on vrbo app was less responsive). So just be prepared to call the property manager with any and all questions. Also, they provide minimal toiletries but two stores just down the road in Kilauea with everything needed. Kilauea was great for markets and food options, so make sure to try as many as possible.

The property is truly a wonder. My favorite part of my day was walking the path to the beach. The path is gorgeous and filled with beauty and lush greenery. My husband and I stayed in the Ocean suite and it was romantic and cozy. Conversations with Jimmy the property manager were easy, fast and accommodating. We'll 100% be back to Jungle Bee.
August 2021
We really enjoyed the beautiful house and garden, full of fruit trees. The two homes were perfect, views amazing, kitchen well appointed, great showers. Be careful at the beach as the waves can be treacherous, and pull you away from shore. After an incident, we chose to go to other beaches instead.

July 2021
My parents, my sister and her boyfriend, and my husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay at JungleBee! The property and the surrounding area are just gorgeous, the houses are nice, and Jimmy was responsive and helpful. I expected the property to be nice, based on the photos and video, but it was so much nicer than I expected. The views are phenomenal. Both of the larger bedrooms in the main house have views of the ocean, which I didn't expect.
The walk to the beach is pleasant and not terribly difficult, but when we were there in June 2021 the water was a bit rough for swimming. The waves weren't huge, but they were strong. (Our Nā Pali coast boat tour tour was rougher than the one I'd taken on a different visit, though, so maybe Secret Beach would also normally be calmer in June.) Difficult swimming notwithstanding, we had a wonderful time, and we'd be happy to stay there again!

June 2021
The property is absolutely amazing and our daily walks down to the beach were delightful. Both houses were clean and well appointed, with the smaller cottage being a bit more modern and the big house more traditional Hawaiian style. The AC in the cottage was quiet and kept the entire house very comfortable. The big house became a bit toasty in the late afternoon, even with the tradewinds blowing, but quickly cooled down after sunset. Both AC units in the bedrooms worked well to keep the rooms comfortable. Cellular reception was sporatic in both houses. The big house had a faster wifi connection making wifi calling a bit easier to manage. The insects took some getting used to, especially the house geckos which "chirp" all night long inside both houses, high above, on the vaulted ceilings. The centipedes can bite, so walking around without shoes was sometimes problematic. Frogs are everywhere on the property, but are harmless, like the roosters and their crowing that begins at 3:30 AM. These things are typical almost everywhere on Kauai, although since the houses are so close to the jungle, they are more noticeable and expected here. We all enjoyed the plentyful wildlife. The property manager was easy to communicate with and was helpful when needed to address a few, very minor issues. A brief power failure knocked out the spa. The garbage disposal, one ceiling fan and ice maker in the cottage did not work, but the ice maker was repaired quickly and worked perfectly during the majority of our entire visit. The kitchen appliances and cookware in the cottage are gourmet quality and worked great. We had a very enjoyable stay at both Jungle Bee houses for two weeks and would definitely return to the beautiful and unique property.

We rented both houses and it was perfect to allow the teenagers to stay in the ocean suite and the adults in the main house. Both houses were very clean and well maintained, and Jimmy was available anytime we had questions or needed something. The trail to Secret Beach is easy in our opinion, and a beautiful jungle walk with no one around. We went down there about every other day. Tons of fruit trees on the property and the trail, so we always had fresh fruit to eat. A beautiful secluded oasis, but very close to everything we love in North Kauai.

This was our 4th stay on the property & get better every time. Great location for numerous outdoor activities we love. The accommodation extremely comfortable with awesome views. Jimmy made us feel at home & took care of any issues that would arise. We love to cook and would suggest a slight upgrade with some of the kitchen appliances.

We had an incredible time staying at Jungle Bee. The entire property is a dream! The area is a great place to explore for both children and adults. The nature walk down to the beach is picture perfect with amazing colorful foliage throughout. We found it hard to leave Jungle Bee to explore the rest of Kauai due to the amenities and scenery on the property. The lighthouse is just a quick jog or bike ride away. There are plenty of toys for children, bikes, snorkeling gear to explore the island fish/sea turtles!, and boogie boards to play with. The location is in an amazing area of Kauai- quick drives to Hanalei, Napali coast trailhead, and much more. The sunsets from the patio are incredible, looking over the tropical atmosphere to the ocean. Definitely a place a would love to go back to someday.

May 2017
My family came to Kauai to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. The Jungle Bee worked out great for us. The "big house" is very nice, with lovely gardens and a beautiful view of the ocean. The balcony is ideal for enjoying the scenery while sipping your morning coffee. The "beach house" is awesome, with spectacular views, a deck perfect for grilling out, and even a hot tub and a hammock. I would definitely stay there again, and I would recommend it to friends without hesitation.
That being said, there were a few minor imperfections:
-Some of the previous reviews are apparently outdated. I was expecting to be able to feast on a half dozen different kinds of fresh fruit from the trees on the property, but the only fruit in season while we were there was oranges. (Fortunately, they were delicious!) I had also read about Amber the chicken in many of the reviews, and at least one mentioned gathering fresh eggs for breakfast every morning. Sadly, the farm chickens are all gone. There are still plenty of wild chickens roaming about, though, and the roosters crow almost around the clock to make sure you don't forget them!
-The third bedroom in the "big house" is TINY! I think the bedrooms in my camper are bigger. My 17-year-old son didn't mind it at all, but it would be very cramped for most adults and I can't even imagine a couple trying to squeeze in there!
-We battled ants in the kitchen in the "big house" all week. We mentioned them to Jimmy when we first got there, and he said that the house had just been sprayed the week before and ants are just part of island life. We bought some ant traps and we were very careful not to leave food laying around and that definitely helped, but if we left one little crumb on the counter the ants would find it.
-The walk to the Secret Beach is not exactly a stroll. The first 1/3 of the walk is on a narrow trail with vines grabbing your ankles and spider webs in your face. After that the trail opens up into a beautiful garden and the remainder of it is quite pleasant. It took us about 15 minutes to get to the Beach, but about 25 minutes to walk home because it was all uphill. The hike is certainly worthwhile, though... the Secret Beach is gorgeous and it was never crowded at all.

I cannot even begin to describe the beauty of this property. My 8 year old describes it as magical. Well maintained, clean and beyond expectation. Jimmy was a great host! We rented both houses and it was perfect. Made an amazing vacation. Thank you Jimmy!

Jimmy is an excellent host. We loved the property, its beyond beautiful. The walk down to the beach is amazing, but perhaps a little challenging for the very old and very young, and you will need a car. Its is very well equipped and Jimmy will sort out all of your needs.

September 2016
We spent a week in the Ocean Suite which was ideally sized for just two of us. The online pictures don't do justice to the decor and the general feel of this beautiful bungalow. The views are breathtaking, the full moon and stars were mind-blowing, the deck and valley overlook are awe-inspiring and best of all, one feels as if there is no one else for miles around. The only sounds we heard were waves, tropical birds, occasional raindrops and the ubiquitous rooster crows. I have been to Kauai many, many times and have never experienced the island from such an exquisite spot.
Aside from the wonderful suite, the rain forest trail down to Secrets Beach was something we enjoyed everyday. We are avid outdoor enthusiasts so we didn't mind the sometimes slippery mud and overgrowth, but potential renters should be aware that it is a 1/2 mile walk down a sometimes steep path to reach the beach. For those less adventurous or traveling with young children there is nearby access by car.
Everything mentioned by other reviewers is absolutely true. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the fruit gathering is like a daily scavenger hunt and "Amber" the chicken made us laugh out loud because she truly believes she is a dog and not a chicken...she actually comes running when you whistle for her.
Honestly, we are conflicted about writing a review because this place is so over-the-top amazing we'd like to have it available just for us anytime we want to return. But in the aloha spirit generated by this very special spot, we want to support Jimmy and Pete so that they may continue to offer this bit of paradise to the rest of us for many years to come.

We had a fabulous stay at this home and ocean suite, jimmy does a great job of maintaining the property and it shows in both the inside and the grounds! We love Amber the chicken although be prepared for the fact she wants o be fed. We loved every minute. Our kids and grandkids stayed in the main house. We stayed in the ocean suite which is very private. The walk to secret beach is stunning.

Jungle Bee was the most beautiful place you could imagine. Jimmy has landscaped the property perfectly in that it feels like you are in the middle of a tropical jungle, but it was done with a really lovely sense of aesthetics. The Ocean View Cottage must have been redone recently and is perfect. The main house has everything you could possibly need.
We were a family group of three generations, and Jimmy took so much time showing us around the extensive property. The children loved the goats! The adults loved picking the fresh fruit. Most of the fruit wasn't ready for picking until a few weeks after our stay, but the papayas were amazing. For someone staying late July-early August, there would be mangos, avocados, pomegranates, jackfruit, and on and on. One of my favorite things was sitting in the hot tub at night and looking at the stars.
Kauai is paradise and Jungle Bee is a truly great place to stay.

July 2016
This was our third stay at Jungle Bee, a truly unique experience on the island of Kauai. Lush tropical surroundings, beautifully maintained and cared for along with stunning ocean and mountain vistas truly make this home a paradise. Coffee and yoga on the deck each morning was an amazing experience. Secret beach, a 10 min walk, is gorgeous but big waves so not a lot of ocean time for little ones. There are plenty of other beaches within a 10 min drive for small ones. All of the beaches on the north shore are amazing and unique in their own way so you will want to spend time exploring.
Any needs we had were taken care of quickly by Jimmy. You can tell that the owners really care that people enjoy their home and have a great experience. A great quiet place for a family vacation where the kids can spend lots of time outside (with bug spray) exploring, chasing lizards and frogs, and enjoying the wild chickens and their babies. Roosters not so enjoyable, bring your earplugs, but this is true EVERYWHERE on Kauai.
Thanks again for another lovely stay.

My husband and I had an amazing stay at the Jungle Bee earlier this month. We stayed for 8 nights.
The house was great! It was in perfect condition. Very clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed for our stay. We could see other houses nearby, but heard almost nothing from neighbors. It was a very quiet place to hide out and relax. The views of the mountains and ocean were lovely, even on the couple of cloudy days we had. Unfortunately, the mosquitoes made it impossible to enjoy hanging out on the back porch, but we enjoyed watching the sunset from the house. It was also amazing getting to watch the sunrise from bed!
The path down to Secret Beach was a bit mysterious (we never quite figured out if we were trespassing or not), but we enjoyed walking along the beach and exploring the lava pools.
We loved being in Kilauea, with its easy access to our favorite east side spots (like Moloa'a) and northwestern spots (like Haena), as well as the tasty ice cream (Kilauea Video & Ice Cream) and fish (Kilauea Fish Market) in town.
When a small maintenance problem occurred, Jimmy was very professional and responsive. We also very much appreciated working with Glenn and Kim on booking the property; they were extremely helpful and responsive. Even though we booked the property at the last minute, they all made sure that everything was ready for us. There was even a lovely platter of fruit from the property and other treats waiting for us when we arrived!
The house was a bit pricey for just the 2 of us, and we'll probably book a smaller place next time (if we manage to plan a bit further in advance!) But we'd highly recommend it to those who want the extra space and don't mind the price or are traveling with kids or another couple. It was a really relaxing, rejuvenating stay. We had an amazing time, and would consider ourselves lucky to stay at the Jungle Bee again in the future. Mahalo!
April 2010
My wife and I had a great time at Jungle Bee with our two kids. Our 7 year old stayed in the 2nd master suite and our 2 year old in the twin bedroom. Jungle Bee has an amazing energy that isn't captured by any pictures. While we where there, we got to see hundreds of Cacao trees being planted, and the kids got to see three baby goats that were recently born. The highlight was sitting on the swing and watching the humpbacks breech at sunset. The caretaker, Jimmy, was awesome and I enjoyed talking permaculture and organic-agriculture with him. We'll definitely be back.
April 2010
Let me just say what a privilege it was to have stayed for 10 days at this tropical paradise. The pictures in no way can describe what we experienced while at Jungle Bee. The eco friendly house had two master suites which was perfect for us and the couple we traveled with. Upon arrival we were presented with fruits and spices all picked from around the property. We picked our own fruit throughout our entire stay. We enjoyed sunset views from the swing on the bluff and spent days on the secluded beach down below. The stroll to the beach was relaxing and filled with things to gaze at such as waterfalls, a river and endless vegetation. We really felt as if we had our own private jungle. The location was great and we enjoyed biking into the town of Kilauea where we drank coffee at the bakery. This is a destination I would recommend to all. It went beyond anything I could have ever expected and we consider ourselves lucky to have stumbled upon Jungle Bee. Also the price was surprisingly reasonable. We look forward to returning in the near future. Mahalo...
