A great location for a large family. We had 3 generations gathered together and there was enough space for all to be together AND to have a little time alone. Large gourmet kitchen geared to prepping meals for a group. Comfortable living space inside and outside on the lanai. Dining room table was big, but we dined together on the lanai each night (two tables for 5-6 each).
Bedrooms were very comfortable. Having a second washer/dryer upstairs was very nice.
Sunsets were amazing at the shoreline right across the street, which must be the best location in Poipu as lots of people and cars gathered in this area each evening.
We all fell in love with Kauai and will definitely be back to enjoy this beautiful island.

We enjoyed our visit to this lovely home. It is as described and was very comfortable for our group of 6. It was a great location although it was a little drive to the actual beach area. We loved walking to the end of the driveway to look at the water, sunset, turtles and dolphins. There is a hotel on the same driveway that does bring some walking traffic by the house often but wasn’t a big problem. Overall I would recommend this home for a very family friendly vacation in beautiful Kauai.

I don’t typically add anything to my reviews, but am afraid I can’t do the house justice. It was every bit as beautiful as the pictures. EVERYTHING met our expectations, from the well-stocked kitchen to the comfort of the beds, to the view of the ocean and the very short walk to fantastic sunsets. We, 9 women, were extremely satisfied with the house. We’re an active bunch, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, and the house was perfect for congregating, cooking, and relaxing in the evening. The a/c worked very well. I cannot think of anything I would change. Highly recommend!

This house was perfect for our party of 7. It was super clean. Great location right across the street from the ocean. Close to shops, restaurants, etc. Nice touch to have beach towels, boogie boards, beach umbrellas and a wagon to use. We've been coming to Kauai for about 7 years now and this is the nicest house we have stayed in.

This was a family reunion of 9 adults. We were celebrating many missed celebrations plus two wedding announcements. We had plenty of space, house was very clean. The towels for both the bathrooms and the beach were very good quality. Linens on the beds were clean and good quality. I normally do not like to utilize the soaps offered but they were also high quality and smelled great! Two sets of washers and dryers plus two dish washers - awesome! The house is gorgeous! The location is great. Everyone had a great time. Every couple had their own bathrooms, the kitchen was well stocked. sitting on the deck in the morning enjoying the beautiful view and drinking coffee - an awesome way to start the day. Grill is again high quality like all of the kitchen appliances! I was worried about having enough hot water for everyone's showers and there were no problems at all. The fans helped circulate the air and the air conditioning worked great! We would all come back to this house if we could. Thank you for sharing this with our family.

Really loved this place for a large group. Stayed there with my family of 9 adults. Really excellent location across road from Poipu Landing. Able to walk to beach at Sheraton and several nice restaurants nearby. Lots of gear and beach towels in the garage. Washer and dryer upstairs and down. Easy to work with host company and would not hesitate to recommend.

The house itself is in a great location with ocean views and very close to several beaches. Large kitchen, living spaces, and bedrooms to easily accommodate our group of 10. We appreciated access to beach toys for the little kids, boogie boards, and beach chairs. Communication with the management company was excellent and they even had an extra welcome gift for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary waiting for us upon arrival. Only downside was that the central AC was broken for our entire stay which made things uncomfortably sticky inside the house. However, the efforts made to correct the issue did not go unnoticed and still would strongly recommend this property.

Terrific home, very clean. Great location to visit island, and enjoyed turtles and snorkeling out front. Thankful that there were beach/water toys to use. I think the views are well represented in the posted pics and it was lovely to see the sunset from the house, or down the drive at the seawall. The AC was not working, which we did reach out about. While not always needed on Kauai (and many rentals without), and since the home has ceiling fans, we could manage. However, it was a restriction on our searches and I do wish it could have been fixed. It seems to have been an issue before, perhaps, so whether it is working could be clarified. Would rent again!

We celebrated my 40th and my mom's 80th in Poipu and this house was such a great fit for our family. We had a lot of friends staying at the Sheraton so the location was perfect for meeting up with them all. The house was well equipped and very clean, the few things that came up were quickly resolved via text. Lots of beach toys and the second fridge in the garage and dishwasher made it very easy for our family and kids to be comfortable. We'd love to visit again and stay here.

This house has better views than we expected (hence only 4 stars for the listing), and we all enjoyed seeing the ocean from almost every room. The location between the Sheraton and the Shops at Kukuiula was ideal for us. The outdoor area, kitchen and bbq were great for dinners together.

We spent a week here as a group of 8 (family and partners and kids) and it was the perfect set up for us. Large kitchen, lots of privacy in the rooms, spacious, and the location is absolutely perfect. The property was quite difficult to find in the dark, but once found met our hopes and expectations. A couple of relatively minor plumbing issues, but really we all (family & friends) greatly enjoyed the property. I highly recommend it for a lovely family get together in Hawaii.

It was just perfect for our family of 10 adults, we would stay again in a heartbeat!!
The management company went over and above in working with us to meet some special medical needs we had to plan for.
Only small inconveniences were the lighting and temperature control in downstairs master bedroom (68 degrees and couldn't seem to adjust) and very poor lighting. Also, it would have been nice to have a smart tv as we like to look at our photos at the end of each day and this tv is just a little outdated for the quality of the house.

This house has everything you could want in a vacation home on Kauai! As a family of 8 adults, everyone had plenty of sleeping space and living space. With a fully equipped kitchen, we were able to cook and enjoy dinners at home daily with a spectacular view of the ocean. All of our beach outings were complete with beach chairs, towels, umbrellas and a cooler provided by the house. And not to forget the snorkeling gear as well! The ease and comfort of the space made for a family-filled right at home feel while on one of the most beautiful islands on earth. Mahalo!

We had a party of ten, 8 adults, one teen and one 12 year old. Most of the room had gorgeous ocean views. The home was very clean and well equipped. Whenever we had problems, we contacted our host and they responded immediately. We did run out of hot water throughout the home and that was remedied as quickly as possible.

Gorgeous home . Great views . Received a notice 1 day before arrival air conditioner not working properly. When we arrived almost all the windows and 1 entry were unlocked . Window sill on all windows between screen and glass filthy. Fans were supplied but couldn’t place in windows because of dirt . First floor dryer would not dry clothes properly. Had to run several cycles which was time consuming , noisy, and added heat to a hot house. Upstairs w/d worked but we were doing laundry for 10 people so we needed that dryer. Refrigerator in garage was dirty and not cleaned. Garage was so small could not park either of our rental cars in it. Very hard to park outside due to small space, wall and requirement to park within that space. No tvs in any of the bedrooms was inconvenient. The children slept on the couches because those rooms were cooler. Adults couldn’t watch tv or movies in the only 2 rooms with tv because of children sleeping there because of air conditioner not working. We noticed prior guest to us had written a very unpleasant note in guest book about a/c not working. The rental agency refunded $500 with the notice of no air but that seems a paltry amount for the price of our stay and the other issues . There must have been problems with a/c with other guests too that should have corrected or disclosed much sooner. It would also have been nice to be greeted or received a call from host on the first day of our stay to address the a/c issue and be sure our concerns were met.

Beautiful home, spacious, great views. Well equipped with beach toys, towels. We searched for and thought we found perfect site. For medical reasons air conditioning was a must. When we arrived, one of the two AC units wasn’t working. In a house designed for air conditioning, trade winds are of no help,;box fans are small comfort.

We brought the whole family Kauai to enjoy a week together. The home easily accommodated 8 adults. The location is fantastic with gorgeous ocean views. This home had many amenities including a gourmet kitchen and Weber babrbeque that allowed us to eat in for most of our trip. The house also included many of the beach toys and supplies needed for a day of play in the ocean. I would love to return to this house again.

You can not find a better place to enjoy Hawaii as a family. With 5 bedrooms, each with their own bath, our family had enough space to spread out and enjoy some privacy amidst the family reunion. The upper floors have a dynamic view of the ocean. The house includes two high-end washer and dryers and two dishwashers which for a family of 10 adults was a must! The large stovetop even includes a griddle for a morning of pancakes. There are two large living areas, one up and one down, with large screen televisions in both. The garage is full of boogie boards, snorkel gear, children's reef-runners, beach chairs, umbrellas, and even a nice rolling cooler. There is a gas grill on the deck. The only drawback to the house is the condos being built right along the driveway; however, they do not obscure the view, and we found the noise indistinguishable when in the house with the air conditioner running. The workers are not there on the weekend and leave at the end of the day. We were out having fun most of the time they were working, so no one complained in our party about it at all. This house is built for a family. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Our family of 7 adults spent an amazing Christmas staying in Makalae. I needn't have worried about cooking Christmas dinner - the kitchen is a chef's dream and the 2 dishwashers make cleaning up a breeze. We gathered each morning on the lanai for breakfast to plan our day. There is excellent snorkeling at Koala Landing, a 3 min walk. We saw sea turtles in the rocky cove across the street and enjoyed the sandy beach which was a 10 min walk. Each of the 5 bedrooms was spacious with its own bathroom. The garage is stocked with beach equipment, and another big plus for a large family were the 2 washers and dryers ! We hope to return again to the beautiful home in the future.

We spent a week with kids and grandkids--six adults and four children, and we have only good things to say. The house was in good condition, there was plenty of room for all of us, the location was great and there was a very nice view of the ocean. We had a group of 8. The house was perfect & accommodated all easily. Lots of bedrooms, bathrooms, & areas to relax. Initially I thought the house directly faced the ocean, but our house was tucked behind that one, which actually made for pleasant afternoons (no direct Sun) relaxing on the deck. Location is great for all south side island activities!!!

Tha Makalae house we rented in Kauai was terrific. It had a great layout and was perfect for the 5 couples in out group. The 5 bed/bathrooms was great as everyone had their own space. Downfall was the 2 double beds. That did not deter from the rental. The porch was fantastic to watch the sunset and the kitchen was a dream. We would definitely recommend this house and rent it again if the opportunity arises. Less rain on this side of the island and up close and personal with the turtles. What a delight.

My family of four traveled with our best friend’s family of 5…. From two 9 year old boys to two 14 year old girls to 87 year old Amma….there was plenty of room, a perfectly appointed kitchen, very comfortable beds, plenty of private spaces to hang out and of course, the beautiful porch with amazing ocean view. We had the best time and the location in Koloa was perfectly suited to quiet nights with lots of activity nearby. Highly recommend this spot🌴☀️❤️

The property was even better than advertised. It was very spacious for our group of nine and even had a washer/dryer on both the first and second floors. We were also pleasantly surprised with the well equipped kitchen including a blender, wine bottle opener, commonly used spiced in addition to all the normal tableware. The water tasted excellent out of the tap unlike often found at resorts. They also had boards to use at the beach and an outside shower used to de-sand ourselves. The house is walking distance to a nice beach and has beautiful views from the 2nd floor. We would highly recommend this property and would book it for our next trip in a second.
