Love this unit! Is the perfect location and the car is so tropical! The couch is super comfortable to sit on and the patio furniture is really great too. The bed is super comfy. Also, there is a icemaker in the freezer, so that’s a bonus. I would say the only downfall of this unit is there is no oven. But we were staying with other friends that had an oven in their unit so it was not a problem.

The place is dated, window frames show water damage, pots and pans need replacing BUT if you aren’t expecting the Ritz Carlton (and you certainly aren’t paying for the ritz Carlton) you won’t be disappointed. Absolutely adore this place. If you’re looking to be pampered and waited on hand and foot, there are plenty of other places up the beach or other islands to explore.... But , if you want the experience of a lifetime , a taste of true Hawaii THIS is the place for you! Laid back, no hurry , no worries. Views that postcards would die for, ocean literally steps away. Five star chef- ME! Very nice kitchen with all the utensils to create your hearts desires. Local markets with a plethora of local and world cuisine. Centrally located to explore all the hot spot tourists locations yet off the beaten path enough to give you that local vibe. This will be my Hawaiian home... even if for only a week or so ,feels like home! Aloha!

When we arrived the pool was closed for a day or so. Response from company was fast and accurate. Good follow up. The upstairs doesn’t have a door so if someone got up earlier than the loft people they were disturbed . The upstairs was hot. We had a great time and loved the place except for a few annoyances . Lots of fans,good amenities nice little beach. View was nice for morning coffee and we watched turtles from the balcony. Had a great time. Great location

The cleaning team did a good job getting the place ready, but the unit itself is very old and needs remodeling. The wood throughout the unit looks outdated, and we saw roaches every other day during our stay.Having carpet in a beach house isn’t a great idea and it made us question how clean it really was. The doors, windows, kitchen utensils, and bathroom are all extremely old, which made us wish we had stayed in a newer apartment instead.The view is beautiful, but the inside of the unit really needs improvement.

my husband and I have stayed here before and we still love it. I would suggest a few minor upgrades throughout to make it more enjoyable. We did have some issues with the sliding screen door on the patio coming off. I think some WD-40 on the track would greatly help, or maybe even replacing that area. A few smaller items had rust on them, likely from the salty air. Did not affect function, but would be more far more visually appealing. The dishwasher, unfortunately, was not working and a tech wasn’t able to come to repair it until after our stay. Hand washing wasn’t a big deal, but obviously would’ve been far more convenient to use the appliance. The location is perfect and we would still stay in this unit again. Fingers crossed for some upgrades in the future ;)

We loved our stay at Hale Kai. It is a well maintained property for its age with a very nice pool and access to an adjacent beach park. We say turtles and dolphins from our unit, as well as views of Lanai and Molokai. Fabulous sunsets. Check in as super easy. Any questions we had were answered promptly. We chose this unit because of the location, price and Murphy beds. A sofa bed is not a bed so it was refreshing to have the Murphys. Nice people, friendly chill vibe… we will definitely return to this complex.

This unit is very low key, minimal amenities but you really don’t need much when you are on Maui. The kitchen area is very small with under sinkspace that could be used for storage some reason was boarded up. The condo is small but worked for our needs.

Carpet was gross, I usually like to be bare foot and i had to wear my shoes as the carpet felt gross. I did see a couple of cockroaches in the kitchen and bathroom but that happens in Maui.

The condo is a great location with an amazing view of the water. We were the only ones at the pool and could snorkel just steps from the condo! Having the pool and beach just steps from you was amazing! I love the feel of the condo with all the louvred glass windows, loft and plank ceiling. When we first arrived, the windows were shut tight, the fans were off, so we walked into an inferno but opening all the windows and turning on the fans made it pretty comfortable all night. The master bedroom does sit near the parking lot and with the windows needing to be open to stay cool it was loud with street noise and occasional people talking. I would say that the condo was moderately clean - the floors were dirty, there were crumbs left on the counter, and the one of the fans spit chunks of dust out when it was turned on. The drawers in the kitchen and bathroom all fall off the tracks and the ice maker was broken. The master bed needs to be replaced as it curves in the center so were sleeping on the edges. Overall, we had a good stay but feel like there are a few things that could be addressed to make it a perfect stay!

I love going to Maui, specifically Honokawai. This condo is in a great location. You can swim in the pool or the ocean. The views sitting on the the lanai are lovely. I am not a big fan of fighting for space outside, like you do at the big resorts, so this place is perfect in my opinion. This was my 3rd stay at the Kale Kai and it won’t be my last.

Very comfortable, except the no A/C. Very clean complex - and friendly. Quick response to any calls. Noise level at night was a bit high, but adjusted quickly. Laundry nicely accessible. Crashing waves covered most of it. :)Loved the "local" turtles. Snorkeling on the beach was great. Lots of sweet fish as well. Although we didn't use the grill, it was wonderfully clean. Would have appreciated knowing this condo started on the second floor as photo led us to believe it was a ground floor unit. Plenty of local eateries available too.

We were so comfortable in this condo complex. The owner residents as well as other vacationers were so friendly, relaxed, and helpful. We loved the intimate feel of the complex rather than being in a large resort; it was like having a private beach and pool. The condo is adequately appointed, has incredible second story views, walkable to the park, food carts, coffee shop, gift store, etc. We enjoyed our down time on the property just as much as our daylong excursions around the island. We felt very much at home and definitely preferred it to a hotel resort. Can't wait to return!

Stayed 5 nights in April and spent the majority of our time on the lanai and occasionally having a dip in the ocean. Spotted a few whales and turtles during the day and cute little ghost crabs making their burrows at night. Did not actually use the kitchen or pool but both looked nice. Found a blender for some fun frozen drinks and laundry facilities onsite were handy. Was not prepared for the seemingly lack of privacy with all the open windows. However, the trade off of hearing the neighbors 24/7 was also being lulled to sleep by the waves and waking up to the beach. Mahalo

Fantastic experience. View is unbeatable. Fell asleep to the waves every night. Saw whales breaching from the Lanai. Easy short drive to Lahaina and Kapalua and great nearby amenities like Pau Bakery and Bad *** Coffee. The pool and BBQ are pretty wanky and there is no spa, but the unit was clean and well maintained. There are laundry facilities if you need them and parking is super easy. If you are looking for something quiet and relaxing this is the place. If you want the mega-resort feel, go somewhere else.

This location was ideal for our 3.5 year old! So close to the beach and the beach had trees that provided shade. There is also I nice reef break that makes the water a little calmer for young kiddos to play. Only suggestion we have is to add an A/C unit... especially in the loft bedroom. It did get quite warm in the afternoons and evenings in the loft. There is a fan and window in the loft to help with airflow but A/C would help!
