Ka Lae, better known as South Point, is the southernmost point in the 50 states. Windy grassland ends at high ocean cliffs, with historic fishing sites and canoe-mooring holes in the lava rock. Strong currents make this a place to enjoy the ocean from shore. PapakÅlea, the area's green-sand beach, is a separate hike east of the point.
