Our family has been to Maui 10 times now and this location is one of our favorites. The property is well maintained, pools and hot tubs are sizeable, and ocean access points are fantastic. The unit gets morning sun and is shaded for the rest of the day so it stays cool. The AC worked perfectly. The sofa sleeper mattress was comfortable enough for my wife and I. The sunsets on the ocean wall were picturesque. Whales abounded our entire trip. Outside food and grocery we're within walking distance. Our entire family is already planning to come back to this spot. The hosts communicated very well. Never had any ants or bugs, just keep everything clean and you'll be fine. Appliances and everything were just fine. Again, great condo!

We were here to vacation with family. The unit was good. We liked the views and it had everything we needed. The kitchen cabinets need a little updating and I wish there was more overhead lighting throughout but overall the unit was great.

Cheryl was very pro-active prior to our arrival and gave a lot of hints and usefull recommendations for our stay on Maui. The resort is perfectly located for exploring the island and relaxing on the beach. The apartment is well equipped and the whole resort is very clean and maintained. The sofa sleeper is not that brand new anymore, at least the mattress wasn't in best condition - but it worked! Please be informed that there is a resort fee payable on site of 17 USD per day.

Despite many great reviews and a very nice owner this place was a huge disappointment. We.found out at check in that the elevator in the E building was out of order with no fix date in sight. We were able to use an elevator in sn adjacent building , but it's not very convenient. The main reason for my negative review is the infestation of roaches/bugs. I immediately notified owner with pictures. She said the pest control would come the next day, only to hear later that they couldn't come until late the last day of our stay. This was completely unacceptable and put a huge damper on our trip. She wss able to get a maintenance person in to replace a leaking faucet. The unit is very dated, cleaning not up to my standards and definitely not paradise I'm sorry to say. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed Papakea, but not our time in this unit.

Host was great. She advised me on the check in, which was easy. When my trip had to be extended, she took care of it in less than 5 minutes. Great location, we could walk to dining and shopping.

This condo was fantastic! A group of 6 friends came here for my belated birthday and had a great time. It was definitely a little tight for 6 people, with the pictures on the listing making it look a little bigger than it was (likely because of the mirrors).
Cheryl was a great host and was very communicative before and during the trip. We came in late Sept and the AC was a lifesaver. The place was clean and as listed.
The one thing I'd say (similar to other reviews) is that some facilities could be updated. The washing machine made an incredibly loud banging sound that prohibited us from using it - that caused some inconvenience when needing to wash towels and such. The beach chairs and such that were included were pretty old / rickety, so we decided not to use it. However, as long as the washer/dryer situation is fixed, the place was as great as it was shown in the listing!

My wife and I along with another couple had a short 3 day stay at Papakea. The grounds were well maintained and the pool was just right. Views from our room were great. The location was close enough to everything we needed. Room we stayed in was outdated and some appliances didn’t work. Loved the property but room could have been better.

This place was in an ideal location without being crowded and hectic. We loved the laid back vibe here, but being only minutes from the action at Kaanapali and Lahaina. The ABC store in the front of the parking lot was an added bonus!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Papakea. The condo has a full kitchen and was well stocked with beach gear. The views of the channel between Maui and Molokai are breathtaking and it is conveniently located to Whalers Village and downtown Lahaina. Communication with the owners is wonderful. We would highly recommend this condo!

This condo was perfect for our family of 5. It was a great base for us to use while we explored Maui for the first time. The life jacket that was there fit my youngest and saved us from having to locate a rental. The kids loved the boogie boards and mom and dad appreciated the beach chairs.
We would stay in this unit again and are already talking about our next trip!

The condo is on the fourth floor (building has an elevator). It is a bit small (the mirrors in the living room made it look bigger in the ad). It is next to a food truck park, a plaza with small restaurants and grocery, which was rather convenient. We had a good stay, but for a family of five the place felt a bit tight.

This was a great location for my family to end our wonderful time in Maui. My kids LOVED the pools and I loved that there were plenty of lounge chairs and seats to relax while they swam. The adults loved the location and the wonderful sunsets in the "backyard". It was so relaxing to walk down and sit by the ocean for a relaxing "date night" - the ambiance was relaxing and wonderful. Yes the unit could use some upgrades and the stairs are a little funky (second to last stair got both my husband and I initially). But the resort feel and the great balcony (we ate all of our meals out there!) were just right! It is close to everything and we would definitely go visit again. Only thing I wish was that it was a keyless entry as it was a tiny bit annoying to make sure you remember the key every-time you left - but I think that is only because I am a little spoiled with just having to memorize a code :) Overall it is was a FABULOUS place to enjoy the West side of Maui! Perfect fit for our family of 4!

We had the best time at this condo. Great location and the condo has a lovely view from the deck. The layout and furniture were very comfortable for our family. If we ever get back to Maui we would definitely stay here again. There are also a lot of extras in the kitchen so before you go grocery shopping make sure to see what is there already. Lots of snorkeling equip, beach chairs, coolers and other items in the condo for use which was great for our family. Cheryl, the owner was so great to deal with. Thanks for much for a great stay!! You will love the trade-winds of this top (4th) floor corner unit with ocean views! Large bedroom on main floor w/bath and second floor bedroom /bath made it ideal for our girls trip! Very quiet, while overlooking the gardens and pool area. Very clean and owners are wonderful to book with.

Papakea resort is a welcoming, well-maintained, comfortable place. Walk to food. Enjoy the great pool and hot tub. The condo has beautiful views of ocean and mountain. You can walk to snorkeling. We saw sea turtles. Highly recommend this condo.

This condo was exactly what my family of 6 needed. Now, to be clear- I think the condo is perfect for 4 people as there are two bedrooms, but 6 works as well.
The view from the deck is beautiful and where we had breakfast and dinner.
The food trucks are a short walk away as is a strip mall with grocery shopping and other eating options.
Where the owner is really wonderful in my book was- we had an overnight flight home departing at 9:00 pm. She blocked out new bookings the day of our departure so we didn’t have to check out at 11:00, and didn’t charge extra. It was this reason that gave us even more insensitive to book.
The other big reason we booked is the condo has AC. However, being on the top floor the trade winds were so nice we never used it.
There’s only one thing to note - there is no beach. It’s a sea wall, and the week we were there at high tide it would have been pretty dangerous to try swimming.
However- there is an excellent beach a very short distance from the Comdo- I can’t remember the name but it’s where Duke’s is located. There last also an excellent walking path there along the sea where my wife and ran every morning.
