This 12th-floor oceanfront royal penthouse is considered by many to be the finest condo on Kaanapali Beach.

Originally the personal residence of the resort's developer, the exquisite 2 bedroom + den is lavishly finished with marble, granite, onyx, and handcrafted hardwood throughout. Entry is through a lovely double door foyer area, featuring custom artwork and a skylight.

Step outside and enjoy a cup of coffee on the massive 600 sq ft wrap-around balcony. 270 degree panoramic views stretch from the lush West Maui Mountains in the east all the way to the Pacific Ocean and Kaanapali's iconic Black Rock in the west.

Maui's picturesque neighbor islands of Lanai and Molokai form the perfect backdrop for you to enjoy one of West Maui's famous sunsets any time of the year. During the winter months, your party will be treated to some of Hawaii's best whale watching right from the comfort of your own living room.

Residence 1201 offers plenty of space to gather and reconnect because, with 2000 sq ft of interior living area, this custom floor plan is the largest available at The Whaler.

The first primary suite features a king-size bed, while the second suite features two queen-size beds. Open the pocket doors to reveal a large den off the main living room. The den features handcrafted walnut paneling and a queen Murphy bed which offers additional sleeping for two more guests.

We welcome you to utilize the modern chef's kitchen. The kitchen has been luxuriously remodeled with Subzero and Wolf appliances and features everything you need to prepare the perfect meal.

Two primary baths offer the finest tile, glass, and stone finishings, and a third powder room offers additional convenience for your group. Free high-speed wi-fi is also included with your stay.

Nestled right in the heart of Kaanapali Beach, steps from soft sands and pristine waters, the Whaler boasts one of Maui’s best resort locations. This world-famous beach offers an abundance of shopping, dining, and activities right at your doorstep. Luaus, dinner cruises, snorkel trips, parasailing (summer only), whale watching (winter only), surf lessons, and more are only a short walk away.

We couldn't have picked a better stay for our first visit to Maui. The views from our balcony were unparalleled and the condo was precisely as described. There are several restaurants that I highly recommended within walking distance as well as shops, beach activities and even pickleball. Our beach was never crowded and chairs were provided. The management company checked on us more than once but was never needed. We plan on a return visit!

Our family of 7 enjoyed our fabulous stay! What a view! Located so perfectly - teens were able to safely shop or go for coffee as they pleased. Whaler shopping are has a kid friendly outdoor space that put you her kids loved as well as a wildlife center on floor 3 that everyone enjoyed. Easy access to restaurants, shopping, beaches, excursions, pool, golf. We will definitely add 1201 to our list of places to stay often.

Our family had a wonderful stay in unit 1201 of the Whaler. We had never been to Maui and I was a little nervous that the location was going to be very crowded and that there would be alot of traffic. The location was perfect, the Whaler was a very nice property, with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our unit had beautiful views and was extremely comfortable for all of us. The only reason for a rating of 4 overall is as other reviews mentioned, the carpet needs to be cleaned or most likely replaced in the primary living area, (the fabric sofas could be cleaned as well) and the refrigerator has an issue and is rusting as the top freezer and refrigerator door were sticking/off balance that I believe is causing condensation and rusting of the hinges. I had to clean the mold built up in the seal when we arrived. For the price we paid, I should not have had to do that. The kitchen is very well stocked and otherwise wonderful. Wonderful location, views, comfortable!!!! We cannot wait to return to Maui!

First and most importantly, my husband and I enjoyed a WONDERFUL10 days at this property. The view is outstanding and the location was excellent with plenty of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Over the course of our 10-day stay, we saw so many amazing sites just from our balcony: sea turtles swimming along the beach, pods of dolphins playing and even two whales (not yet in season) and tremendously beautiful sunsets. The bed in the master was very comfortable and communications with the property manager were returned promptly. We have two primary reasons for rating this property 4 stars instead of 5. First, the wifi was horrible. Absolutely terrible. I reported it to property management twice and the response was that they could send someone to reset the router. We reset it ourselves with no improvement. We both work remotely for our jobs and often have to work on vacation to address urgent matters and the poor wifi service made it difficult to get our work done during these times. Second, much of this unit needs updating, including the appliances. For the price, and the description as being the "crown jewel," I had higher expectations. Just one more thought on this property that might prevent me from staying here again (and I don't think anything can be done to change it, so this is just FYI if you're considering staying here): the toilets/bathrooms connected to the bedrooms are open to the bedroom. There is no partition for privacy when using the toilet. For me, that's just awkward. Luckily, it was just my husband and I staying, and we could use the toilet in the secondary room or the hall bath. Overall, this is a beautiful unit with tons of potential, it just needs updating and corrected wifi.

Perfect location and amazing view of beach. Condo was very spacious and very nice. Only negative was A/C in living room wasn’t working well and had To call maintenance twice. Also, microwave needs actual glass tray and not the makeshift one that’s there. Overall a great time

Condo and views are breathtaking. We had five grandchildren and plenty of room. Lanai even fun to sleep on for teens. Amazing decor. Lanai stretches around for views that were spectacular. We left lots of snorkel and ocean/pool gear and there was already a few. Well furnished.

You just can’t beat the location of this property or the view. Close to all the activities, catamaran charters, beach fun and walking distance to everything you need. It’s just gorgeous. The short drive to Lahaina gets you to the cute town with shopping and restaurants. Dive Maui is a great dive shop. Love it!
