In 2017 a tasteful and contemporary upgrade was completed on Kolea 1A. It received all new furniture, beds and kitchenware giving the condo a fresh, clean feel. And the new granite counter tops and backsplash offer a modernized flair to the kitchen.
This ground level unit is nicely situated providing easy access to an open grassy area off the lanai. It is great for children, or anyone wishing to enjoy lounging and viewing the beautiful scenery in relative privacy.
Upon entering the villa you will appreciate a spacious great room that looks out onto the expansive lanai and lawn area. The living area is furnished with two couches facing a 4K wall mounted curved television with extended cable and surround sound. The adjacent dining area seats six. The well equipped kitchen features Viking and SubZero stainless steel appliances. The kitchen has an under-sink water filtration system ensuring pure, clean water and ice from the refrigerator dispenser. New cabinetry has been added to provide an additional food preparation area and includes a small desk and computer work station.
Guests can fold open the six large lanai doors to access the tranquil lawn area. The lanai has a teak table that seats six and two lounge chairs. There is also a stainless steel BBQ grill and wet bar, making for memorable evenings spent outdoors watching the sunset.
On the other side of the villa is the roomy and privately located master bedroom with hardwood floors and large windows that bring in the light. Located here is a king size bed with bedside tables facing a wall mounted 4K curved television placed above a six drawer dresser. The spacious attached bath has a deep soaking tub, large walk in shower, dual granite vanities, and a large walk in closet.
The second guest bedroom has two twin beds with bedside tables facing a wall mounted LCD television. The attached bath has a tub/shower combo with a granite vanity.
Just off the kitchen is the third guest bedroom with a queen size bed and night stands facing a wall mounted television. The attached bathroom has a granite vanity with a walk in shower.
Other Kolea 1A amenities include wifi, dual zone air conditioning, and a full size washer and dryer in the newly renovated laundry room.
Guests enjoy access to the garage which houses a collection of boogie boards, surf boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrellas and other toys.

Having the Hilton pass was a nice perk, as we did spend time at the resort, evening swims in the property pool and sunsets on the beach in front of the property were greatly enjoyed!. We slept well in the comfortable beds, enjoyed cooking in the open kitchen and had fun on the beautiful recommended beaches, with the water toys provided in the garage. Our family stayed at the Kolea Resort for two weeks in January 2018. We were a family of six; 4 adults and two children. This resort came recommended by a family member who has been staying at the resort for the past twelve years. We choose a ground floor condo as we thought the children would enjoy the extra space. We really enjoyed the Resort and its amenities. The resort is very well maintained, pools very clean and public areas are all well kept. Our condo was clean, spacious with comfortable beds. The kitchen is well equipped, some items such as knives were not in good shape, broken handles but overall the kitchen was decently equipped. One thing that would improve the use of the furniture would be felts on all the chairs inside and out as they make a terrible noise when being moved on the tiles. One big disadvantage of this unit was the noise coming from the condo above. For 12 nights of our stay we were woken up at 5:00 in the morning to the non-stop moving of furniture, very noisy children running around which made it impossible to sleep past the hour of 5:00. We spoke to the Waikoloa Rental Agency and they reported the problem immediately. Unfortunately, as they are not the company renting the condo above, the problem was never resolved. We found out that the condo above (1B) allows 10 people as a maximum for the same size we rented which has a maximum of 6. So I would advise anyone renting a condo in this resort to be aware of the different rental situations. If we come back to Kolea or recommend this resort to anyone, we would suggest renting a top floor unit. We would highly recommend Waikoloa Vacation Rental Management, they provided excellent service.
