We just came back home from our stay at Kailua Kai. We were a family of 10 ranging from 18 mo-84 years. This home was perfect for all of us. The house is appointed well with from the kitchen to the beach equipment. Everything we needed from boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, yard toys. The large lawn lawn leads to beautiful Kailua beach and Kailua town is just minutes from the house. It’s very private and everything was clean and ready for our arrival. Steven with Private Homes Hawaii was fantastic! Highly recommend. We will for sure be back!! Mahalo for our best family vacation!

Wonderful location. About a 5-7 min drive (1 mile) to most shops, food, and grocery in Kailua. You really cannot beat beachfront access! Made it so easy to go to the beach when ever we wanted. Lots of beach toys to enjoy. Kitchen was stocked with most things we needed. We only stayed in the two king rooms, which were clean and spacious. There are some critters that would show up at night/early morning (not alive, most of the time), just something to note. We didn’t see any in the bedrooms or bathrooms we were in so it wasn’t a big deal. There is no AC, so fans running most of the time to keep the airflow moving. We came in Oct, and temps were in the 80/70s so it’s wasn’t hot inside.Overall, great home. Beautiful views. Easy access. Spacious. Clean. And the to-do list for check out was short (which is appreciated!). We’d come back again!

We came for an adults only family get together and stayed for a week. The house was perfect for the seven on us. Check in was great, the house was spotless. There were plenty of beach towels and chairs for everyone. The beach access is super easy. It’s so nice to be able to duck out to the beach for a quick swim and come back, instead of having to lug all your gear and stay all day. It’s located on one of the best beaches in Hawaii, and at least while we were there, it wasn’t super crowded.

This was a wonderful property for our family vacation. There were ten of us, and we all enjoyed every minute of the ten days we spent here. The location of the house with direct access to a great beach was perfect, and the whole family enjoyed playing in the water. The home was clean and stocked with everything we needed, especially beach towels and play toys, and of course, it really helped to have access to a washer/dryer. We were all able to sit down to meals together and overall we just felt very comfortable at this property. While the property itself is not new, for our purposes, it was perfect. The property management team of Steven and Patty were excellent. Every time we asked for assistance, or needed a question answered, their responses and presence (if needed), was immediate. Our family would definitely stay at this property again.

We have stayed at this property a couple of times, and will again. The location in Kailua, with the beach just across the soft green lawn, is absolutely perfect. The house itself is nice and every bedroom has it's own bath. The house is showing a little age and wear, so 4 stars there, but it's fine. Furnishings are nice, and kitchen is very well equipped.

We have a family of seven adults and two infants and this beautiful home had room for us all. Steven (the host) left us a huge basket of island goodies.
Each individal family unit had their own private space, and there was a large dining/family area where we all hung out together. The house is right on a quiet, gorgeous beach.
At the end of our one week stay, my daughter said "this vacation was TOO SHORT!"

This was the 2nd time we rented this beautiful home. Our first time was perfect, not one complaint. This last visit for 11 days was tarnished by the number of roaches. The management had it treated while we were there but live roaches still swarmed in the kitchen. We never saw dead ones to show the chemicals were working. I am sure they will take care of this issue. Other than the roaches (we just had to be diligent to make sure there was no open food on the counters and do dishes immediately) the home is beautiful with a perfect location. My only other suggestion to the management is to add full size soap bars in each bathroom for bathing. With the cost of $2500/night providing a mini hotel sized sink bar seems very low rent.

We had a great stay at this house. You can walk right out to the beach, across the lovely lawn. The windward breezes keep the house cool, and it has a very fully supplied kitchen and also beach equipment. Town is just a few minutes away, but at the house you feel you are in a lovely rural setting.

Kailua Kai was perfect for our family of four. More than enough room for everyone to spread out. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which was a huge plus. We really appreciated that the house was fully stocked with everything we needed for our week-long stay - e.g., hand soap, premium shampoo & conditioner, tissue, toilet paper, laundry detergent, beach towels, beach gear, etc. They even provided a large gift basket of treats. The only thing we really had to buy once we arrived was water and food. Keep in mind that there is no air conditioning in the house. However, there are fans in every room and there is a constant seabreeze so we just opened up the windows everyday and felt perfectly comfortable. Of course the best part of the house is the location. It's tucked away at the end of a private driveway so it's very secluded and quiet. We enjoyed the beach everyday and the kids loved to be able to just walk across the backyard and go boogie boarding. Except for July 4th, the beach was never crowded. A big highlight was that we got to enjoy front row seats to the Kailua July 4th fireworks from the comfort of our backyard. The house is also conveniently located, making trips to Honolulu/Waikiki and the North Shore very easy.We really enjoyed our time at Kailua Kai and are already planning our return. Booking and communication with the company and house manager were super easy. We're looking forward to visiting this slice of paradise again!

It is the best location for sure on Kailua Beach! The photos really capture the house and the beauty of the property. The property is what Hawaiian living is about - beautiful expansive beach, perfect beach shade spot under the trees, gorgeous view of the bay for watching kite boarders and wind surfers, great expansive lawn for kids of all ages, listening to the waves from the house all day and night. We loved the sunrises in the morning while enjoying our coffee on the beach, watching the day begin with a quick walk before breakfast - just stunning! Sunsets beautiful, too as light on the water and islands change color - mountains to the west a really pretty backdrop when looking back at the house. Great spot for nice long walks on the beach. Easy walk to Kailua Beach Park and downtown area from the house, too. The property was perfect for my husband and I, our son and his family. Each bedroom with its own bathroom and very clean, comfortable beds. Kitchen well appointed, nice open living areas but truly you can't beat the beach. Beach towels, chairs and toys provided, too. Property manager was great to work with - answered questions promptly and made sure we were well taken care of. Lovely welcome information and basket, too. It was truly a relaxing vacation and one we'll remember for a long time! We hope to be back soon. Mahalo!

This cozy home with a fabulous backyard lies right in the middle of Kailua Beach and was a great place to begin our barefoot walks on the sandy shores. The house itself has most of what a family will need for a beachfront stay - the boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels are on standby. We cooked half of our meals for our family of 6 adults in-house and found the kitchen equipment and table settings we needed already available, including wine glasses and champagne flutes. The mid-stay housekeeping service including linen changes for our 10-night stay was perfectly timed. The bathrooms and kitchen while dated in style are fully functional. The view from the bedroom in the loft is simply magnificent and always worth that climb up the spiral stairway. The casual but very comfortable feel to the home was conducive to a most relaxing Christmas and New Year's Eve break. It was very breezy and temperatures were perfect during our stay, so we did not miss the air-conditioners and used the ceiling fans only on one night. Thanks too to the property manager for storing our Christmas tree which arrived earlier than we did for our stay. We were very fortunate that the home was still available when we were looking for a place to stay in Kailua.

The location of the property allows you to escape from the stresses of life. As you walk into the property and see the beautifully manicured lawn with the picturesque ocean in front of you, the ambiance allows you to let go and relax immediately. We enjoyed our stay at the property. With its fully equipped kitchen and awesome lanais, we were able to enjoy home cooked meals. After the day’s excursion, coming home and being able to walk and skip to the ocean was refreshing. The house was equipped with beach toys including floaters, boogie boards and beach chairs/towels. During our stay, there was some construction next door but the workers were respectful of our privacy. Also, the spiral staircase was a potential hazard due to its sharp edges so we hung our Hawaiian dresses around the railing to remind us to avoid standing up from under the steps. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will rent the house again.

Location, location, location, was the highlight to be steps from the beach and minutes to shopping and my fav, “plate lunch”. The kitchen was a chef’s delight with everything needed for preparing meals and enjoying it out on the lanai with the sound of the waves. You can't ask for much more than this. A lovely, well-stocked home right along the beautiful Kailua beach. All the beach things you could want (towels, chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards). Well stocked kitchen for your cooking needs. Clean with updated furnishings, property is well maintained. Was a nice bonus to have the big lawn out back that provided a nice safe place for kids to play and privacy from beach goers. Best of all, the beach is just steps away. Constant breeze kept the house very comfortable, just needed to close the ocean facing windows/doors when it was raining. View from the upstairs loft is gorgeous. Walkable to local market and short drive into town. Definitely hope to be back someday. Only negative was that the cleaning crew showed up just before the check-out time so felt a little rushed getting out.

Had a wonderful time at this property with my family. Wonderful location! Beach is easily accessible and being a bit away from the local park meant that it was not at all crowded. Easy drive or medium walk to downtown shops and restaurants.

Location and beach were beautiful and a lovely gift basket were provided but we specifically asked in advance whether or not there would be any construction happening nearby that might be noisy. They said that to their knowledge there would not be any so we went ahead and booked and then it turned out that there was construction noise right next-door with hammers and electric saw from just before 8 AM until the afternoon each day except for the July 4 weekend while we were there for a week. Management company offered to have us move to another property but when we asked what the options were they said there weren’t any! The only possibility would be booking a hotel somewhere. They only offered apologies but Did not do anything to offset the disturbance that this caused to our family vacation. In addition, the first morning we awoke to see gigantic cockroach in the family room. We were assured that they spray regularly for critters and that this was a random intruder. Another one showed up the following day.

We were all in heaven with the views and the easy access to our favorite beach. Every day we walked or jogged the beach. Swimming was fun for all ages and especially the boogie boarding. The house was comfortable, spacious, and well-stocked with supplies. The kitchen was easy to cook in with everything you need. The front covered veranda was a wonderful place to sit and relax. Don't get your heart set on the hammock. The trees that held it have been cut down and there isn't one anymore. 2 of the bathroom doors were stuck and maintenance was unable to resolve during our stay. Otherwise house was well maintained and had fresh paint. The pictures don't do the place justice. It's much better in real life. You can hear the ocean from every room. Beds are comfortable.

Beautiful home with the most awesome view, yard and beach. We had 3 couples and a baby and this place fitted us all quite well. There were boogie boards, sand toys and chairs, towels, BBQ, patio furniture for our use. All the rooms had fans and it was quite comfortable for sleeping. Stores and restaurants are very close. Just down the beach is a place to rent kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel equipment. We did not want to leave. Kapola was awesome to work with. She even took a group photo for us having dinner on the front Lanai. Would highly recommend this home for vacation rental.

Comfortable family home right on Kailua beach. perfect location - walking distance to shops and restaurants. Also great service - check in, addressing problems, directions, advice etc. We did find the house a bit run down however - old furnishings, rusty washer and dryer, broken windows, broken garbage disposal, leaking fridge. We would definitely consider staying again because of the location but if it was spruced up a bit it would be a dream house.

Our experience this time around was fantastic, no complaints, all communication with the rental company was fantastic. The house was great, perfect size for the 8 of us that we're there, the kids loved the location, as did the adults. We travelled from Sydney, Australia and would most certainly stay there again! Highly recommend this house. Didn't want to leave... We absolutely love Kailua, we have stayed in this area previously and would do so again. The restaurants in Kailua were all amazing, Buzz's / Cinnamons for brekky / Baci Bistro & Agnes for some malasalas!!!! Hoping to be back in 2017! Love Hawaii....

Location was great for access to the beach. Beds were comfortable. The house is very spacious. Unfortunately the house is beginning to show ware and is not being maintained. The pictures of the property did not show what is there now. Floors were dirty, outdoor furniture was missing or broken. In general cleaning and maintenance were not up to our expectations.

We stayed here Recently for a week. What a fabulous property. Plenty of room for 8 people. Comfortable sleeping arrangements. Every bedroom has its own bathroom with shower. the kitchen is well equipped. The property was clean as could be. We traveled the entire island in the week we were there. Went to waimea falls, macadamia factory, swap meet and pearl harbor. Went swimming with the dolphins and turtles in north shore. That was great (dolphin excursions) went to dole factory, snorkeled by waimea. Just did it all! Had pizza one night at bobs pizza. That's a must do. Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful experience for our entire family.

Upon arriving I saw a beautiful yard with a hammock just waiting for me. I knew I would have a great time. This property was so peaceful and relaxing and the yard leading onto the beach was just so lush. We really liked the way the house felt cozy and of course the kids were very impressed by the spiral staircase. If I had known the house was so well equipped I would have packed much lighter than I did. There was a full kitchen with dishes and utensils, we even have boogie boards. It really helped to have directions prior to our arrival and be able to call one of the agents as soon as we landed. They also had someone greet us at the house and help get us settled. We did not have to go very far to get to a store or restaurant and we enjoyed exploring in the quaint little town of Kailua. I doubt I will ever stay at a hotel in Hawaii again.

Its always scary to rent VRBO properties because "you really don't know what you're getting". This property exceeded our expectations. My family of 5 (3 children) was absolutely mesmerized by the entire property....huge grassy backyard that allowed for post-beach activities; ocean breeze that allowed for the best sleep that i've had in 5 years; open and spacious floor plan. We thought we would get up every morning and go explore areas of the island; but many times we decided that we wanted to stay at the beach house because of being 41 steps from the best beach in Hawaii. we rented SUP boards, grilled out, and had an amazing family laid back experience. The house and land are incredibly well maintained. we will be back!!!!!!
