We really enjoyed this home. The grounds of the resort are Really Beautiful, and the sunsets were magnificent! The interior of the unit was very comfortable and the furniture, being heavy and massive, was very impressive.
Since so many of the restaurants on the island were closed, we found the location great because just down the street there were several restaurants, Java jazz included, that had good food and great people. This was especially handy since so many of the shops and restaurants in Lahaina where either closed or gone.
We didn't realize, when booked your home, that it was located about a mile away from a resort/hotel that we use to come to several years ago. It has been sort of like coming home, which was great. The area has changed a lot in the past 10 years, but a lot of the things were familiar.
The host (Sue) was very helpful providing information related to thigs to do and places to see and eat. Since we were arriving at 9:00 am, Sue check to see if the unit was ready before 3:00PM, which it was, so she arranged for us to get into the unit early – which was very helpful. We where not sure what we would do for 6 hrs. with a car full of luggage!
We will seriously consider this unit the next time we are in Maui.

We truly appreciated all that Sue and her people did to make our visit a comfortable and enjoyable one. We felt welcomed from the very start by all the valuable information that was provided prior to our arrival. And the room was stocked with everything that we could possibly require that would make us feel at home and cared for. Otherwise, the area was wonderful with plenty of things to do right outside our door. We loved every minute!

This condo is extremely well-appointed with all sorts of spices, cooking oils, and kitchen-related stuff you don't normally get. Their policy is to leave non-perishable items in the cupboard or refrigerator, which means we didn't need to buy salt-pepper, oil, etc. Lots of cooking equipment. Also has a closet of beach stuff - cooler, beach chairs, mats, etc. Very nice bed. It is a ground floor unit, which isn't ideal, but we knew that going in. Surprisingly quiet unit. We really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful, well mantained resort. The unit is very well appointed and a great bottom floor location. We had an issue with our key but the owners were right on it and had the situation fixed immediately. The unit could use a bit of T.L.C. but overall we were happy and would return.

Sue provides everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. The Papakea grounds are well maintained & offer mini-golf, a pool, hot tub & & classes if you are so inclined. The location is very convenient for travel to Lahaina & up north, parking is easy & convenient at the resort. Be prepared to pay $17/day as a resort facility fee in addition to the VRBO advertised cost.
We ate at some great restaurants as well as cooking & eating in.

This was our first time to Maui so picking a condo was not an easy decision however any fear we had went away after we opened the door to the condo. It was very nice and had everything you would want including kitchen items, beach items, and an added bonus a washer and dryer. And I don’t want to forget the awesome chocolate covered macadamia nuts. The location was close to shopping, restaurants, and any other activity you want. On Sue’s recommendation we utilized the services of Mark the concierge to book a luau and he did a great job. If you want an amazing condo with all the amenities in a great location due yourself a favor and book this place…..now!!

We love Papakea and Sue is an amazing host! This unit is perfect. Everything you need just bring your suitcase. Steps to the pool, gorgeous grounds, sandy beach, whale watching and incredible sunsets. Everyone is so friendly.
The condo is very comfortable and well equipped. Plenty of room to relax on the patio. Easy walk to the stores, restaurants, food trucks and the boardwalk.
Sue is so organized and makes sure every detail of your stay is taken care of well in advance.
We will definitely stay here again!

We arrived late in the evening but once we were awake the next morning we realized what a great resort Papakea is, right on the water, pool, tennis courts & other activities and very well maintained. Would recommend.

Description accurate. Great location. Lovely welcoming treats. We used the cooler, chairs, snorkeling equipment and were so appreciative that it was there. A few more beach towels would be great ( things don’t dry very fast). We’ll be back!

Overall it was a nice experience. We liked the location, just close enough to all the restaurants and activities in Kaanapali but tucked up a bit so you have the tranquil quietness of a true vacation.
My only advice would be to come prepared if you plan on using the washer/dryer. They ask you start a load of towels before you leave but only leave one detergent pod, so if you plan on doing any laundry bring your own detergent. Also the tissue box only had 4 tissues in it, and there isn’t no Saran Wrap or baggies in the kitchen. Just little things that are usually provided I feel were lacking here.
Oh and there is a basket on the table with a note saying to enjoy these local products but the basket was empty.

First Maui Vacation. Room was beautiful, clean, with lots of amenities, loved having a full kitchen as well as the washer and dryer. A gift basket was an unexpected very nice touch. We spent a week in Sue's ground floor condo at the Papakea Resort in West Maui. The setting is beautiful - the lanai looks out on a koi pond with a fountain and waterfall (about 15' away). The ocean is on view beyond a row of tropical flowers that edges the pool area. The pool is not too large (there is a second pool around another set of buildings) but is heated and has plenty of lounge chairs and tables, along with several gas barbecues. There is a small beach to one side but most of the property is edged by a sea wall with the water coming right up to it. Lounge chairs are available and it is a beautiful show to sit on them on the grass watching the sun go down.
The condo is a studio, with a large king bed, a table and two chairs, a kitchen, and a nice shower. Sue was very responsive getting someone over to fix a light over the table that did not go on.
We did some hiking, mostly as you go further up the coast of West Maui, which is kind of a scary drive but absolutely gorgeous. We took a sunset cruise out of Lahaina that had the bonus of a bunch of whale sightings, including of a baby whale repeatedly breaching. We had nice meals at a number of restaurants, but particularly recommend the Burger Shack connected with the Ritz Carlton resort (try the kona coffee milkshake and enjoy the fabulous view) and Mama's Fish House near Paia on the Hana Highway (you need to make a reservation weeks ahead, but we got in on the spot by agreeing to dine at the bar).
Overall, very comfortable and relaxing - a great break from winter in New England!

Sue has done a wonderful job of anticipating all of your Hawaiian Vacation needs. We took full advantage of the beach chairs, ice chest (there are 3 ice packs available + the refrigerator Ice machine puts out a LOT of cubes), boogie boards & beach towels. All of the pots & pans you would need + good steak knives (knives in general) washer/dryer - all is provided. We do a lot of cooking so we don't have to stick to a schedule and with 2 of us there were plenty of dishes provided. Clear instructions are provided for the TV which was much appreciated. We had a couple of questions and Sue was very responsive.
Although the Papakea had to suspend morning yoga due to Covid there is still plenty to do - pickle ball/tennis/shuffle board/putt putt. It's a wonderful property only a 20 minute walk from Airport Beach where there is excellent snorkeling (the coral appears to be making a comeback - it was brilliant). TIMES grocery store/ABC Store/Cruizin Cafe/Java Jazz are all within about a 5 minute walk.
Because we do most of our eating at our unit we did find the counter space problematic so will likely book a 1 BR vs. a studio to allow for more space but otherwise we had an awesome time at Sue's.

This was a great room for a great price. Luau's, dinner cruises, snorkeling are all minutes away. I would definitely rebook the same room on another vacation. The owner Sue was very nice and even text me to let me know that the room was ready as we had arrived earlier than expected. The rest of the property is beautiful and has a great pool area where you can cookout if you would like. There are also restaurants and a grocery store less than a mile away. Highly recommend it.

Hey Sue! We had a fantastic time at your place. We loved that the ocean was so close and there was also a pool. The room was clean and was as advertised. A nice gift basket added special touch.. The only thing I was perplexed about were wifi and ac. The wifi was unplugged. I had to sort through dusty cables to find the power cord. The AC was off, the room never fully reach cool temps.

This is a beautiful property, comfortable in every way, everything worked as it should, views of the koi pond were nice, walking along beach and watching the sunset were great, hot tub was enjoyed nightly after physically active days, kitchen had everything we needed, I thought the sinks were great, it was quiet and peaceful, close to jet ski rental and atv tour, owner went out of her way to help us when I didn’t pay enough attention to the email with directions to download the app to get us in to the property. She was gracious and helpful and great to work with. We loved it here.

The property is very nice and clean. It feels very spacious for a studio and the kitchen and bathroom are very nice. Sue went out of her way to make us feel welcome with a basket of Hawaiian goodies. She also took a personal phone call the night we checked in because I had not downloaded the right app to know how to get into the condo. Be sure to do that as it is a great app with lots of good info. Our only disappointment was the air conditioning unit which did not keep the condo very cool. There were multiple fans, including a ceiling fan, which made it doable for us. Besides that, it was a great place to stay!
